2023-11-17 00:55:37Quick SummaryPretty cool to have a Yakitori place in Ventura at a central location. Street parking only. Food was decent (although a bit overcooked). Make sure you book a reservation because they are a bit shorthanded (it appeared to be 3 total staff members running the whole restaurant!)Food- 4 starsOrdered the chicken skin, shiitake mushroom, Japanese eggplant, rib eye, chicken thigh with leak, squid and an assortment of specials. I liked the rib eye, chicken skin, and chicken thigh the most. The food was mostly overcooked but salted perfectly (the staff did seem overwhelmed). They had Asahi, Sapporo and Suntory draft available, so it was great to have them along with our yakitori mealService- 5 starsThe staff were attentative as they can be, as they appeared understaffed. Really appreciate all the hard work they put inBottom LineBook a reservation even during weekdays. Its awesome to have a yakitori spot in Ventura and dont have to drive too far if you have a craving.

2023-07-22 04:35:05I came here a few years back and ordered the chicken curry. It was one of the best curries I’ve ever had. Tonight I came back and ordered everything that sounded good to me. The chicken curry was a 10/10 of course. The chicken Karage was so flavorful and perfectly fried. The beef skewers were packed with flavor and HELLA tender. Everyone here was really nice and you could tell even the people dining were here for a good time and good food. I didn’t take a picture of everything I ate, but here’s that beautiful Karage.

2023-10-14 18:36:34Amazing and authentic Japanese bar food! Everything I’ve tried from here has been delicious. The owner and staff are very friendly and will answer questions about the menu. I’ve been here with good sized groups and they’re accommodating. The only downside is the order system is kind of confusing (maybe a checklist sheet would work better?). Definitely go to this place!

2023-03-01 18:18:45Took my parents here and we all loved it. I ordered many different plates and each was great, the grilled kabocha and garlic chicken really stood out! Staff was very friendly and the whole experience was very reminiscent to those I’ve had in Japan

2023-10-06 06:15:17Fab food, small bites, great for sharing, delish everything! Delightful, creative, eclectic soundtrack, tinier than hell! You won’t get in if you go during peak hrs - all of the staff & the owner are wonderful & treat us great! This is NOT fast food & note that some comments complain… don’t let those comments sway you. Figure out what you want, enter via your phone & deliciousness starts hitting the table - good for sharing. We take every overnight guest to this place & they’ve all fallen in love with it. Highly recommend!

2023-08-25 03:39:56Amazing food. The restraunt is very small so expect to sit at the bar or small tables. The service was good. They do online menu for ordering which I never care for but its not a huge deal.

2023-08-26 21:26:38ちょっと!おもてなしじゃない!We were here 2 years ago and had a wonderful meal and experience and were really looking forward to coming back.Things have changed. The ordering system (download the menu and order through the app) absolutely gutted any human interaction. If you think youre going to get Japanese style hospitality here forget it. The owner and staff were indifferent at best and downright cold the rest of the time. The food: Eggplant was way undercooked. Filet with shiso ponzu was perfectly cooked but had no shiso flavor. The pickles were superb but the owner told me they come from the Japanese grocery store, not house made. The jalapeño yaki onigiri? soggy. The chicken thigh with citrus pepper (yuzu kosho dumbed down for us) was way overcooked, dry and tough. The shiitake were the standout, a skewer of 4 meaty fresh shiitake, sweet/salty/umami goodness, so good we ordered a second skewer and it came with 2 mushrooms instead of 4 - diminishing returns! The icing on the cake is where you pay through the app and are forced to tip at least 18% (for absolute rock bottom minimal service).

2020-01-22 20:37:29Lunch menu very limited, very small portions for the price and if they cant even get the Miso soup to taste good, you can imagine the rest. We were very very disappointed with curry and the yokisoba not worth it. First and last time going. Place looked shabby and not neat. Glad soda came in a can. Took 2 bites of yokisoba and it all fit in the smallest of Chinese boxes to go.

2018-06-09 02:40:27Simply one of the best places to eat in a town with plenty of great competition. Get anything with garlic chips on it and dont forget to order beer.
