Best traditional Chinese food Ive had in a long time!MUST have food items: Salt & Pepper Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and BBQ Shrimp Fried Rice. For parties of 2 or more, I recommend ordering the family options. It comes with your choice of soup+ egg rolls and fried prawns+ and each peron chooses a main dish. Service? Quick, food is served nice and HOT and wait times under 10 minutes. James (nanager) is very friendly, taking time to visit with each table, suggesting great menu choices, as well as providing recommendations for local events and attractions. Atmosphere: very traditional Chinese style decorations and interior mood. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling to Monterey looking for GREAT CHINESE CUISINE.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants around! The service is quick and awesome, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is great with beautiful views. The noodles are the best texture and thickness and every meat is cooked to perfection. This is my new go to restaurant and a great place to take the family. Highly recommended!

Traditional Chinese restaurant with what you expect, delicious food! We wanted to try the food so bad we didn’t even take pictures of our plates before eating. 😅We ordered cashew chicken and vegan shrimp. Oh lord! That “shrimp” was the bomb! Really recommended!

IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE! Wow, the food and the service was incredible. We had the ‘Great Wall Dinner’ which was only $22/per person and so much more food than you could ever imagine eating in one sitting. The hot and sour soup is some of the best on this planet. YUM! Our waiter, Hong was so sweet and attentive. They were constantly refilling our beverages (I drink a lot of water). If I could give more stars, I would. I will definitely be back!

Don’t come here. They played traps on tips.We had lunch here and got overcharged. We order one mushroom bamboo beef ($17.8) and three ingredients seafood ($21.8) and two steamed rice(2*$2). So the subtotal should be 43.6, plus 9.25% tax so it should be 47.63.But when I checked out, the server did not show me the detailed receipt/invoice EVEN I REQUESTED, he only gave me one total receipt showing 55.07 which I thought that might include tips already. I asked him that did the price include tips, he said NO. So I signed additional 10 dollar tips on the bill. But right now I found I was fooled by him that I was double charged for tips WITHOUT noticing. Unfortunately I don’t think this kind of tipping trap can help you build a good fame. I have tried to contacted them through email but they never replied it, so obviously it’s not their first time to do so.

It was. . Well. . Nothing to write home about. very basic, cheaply made food.. Thats really over priced. Very disappointed with the dim sum. Freezer to steamer. Not sure what it was filled with. Was supposed to be bbq pork. But seemed like red jelly & fruit. The General Chicken was WAY over cooked. The fried rice is made with frozen vegetable, would have been so much better if it was fresh, very, very greasy. For a meal this size and quality youd expect to pay under 20, but it was over 40. Not a fan. . . 🤷

Amazing Chinese restaurant. Great service, fast, clean place, delicious food. Server was attentive and super kind, gave candy to my little daughter, she loved the attention! Place was full for a Monday night but we were seated quickly after a table left. Place had good atmosphere and food tasted fresh. Reasonable prices and wine prices superb. Will definitely go back and will recommend. The attention of the waiter and the great food made our weekend extra special.

The Great Wall has fresh vegetables and meat with their Chinese Delicacies which is hard to find. A wonderful dinner which was a one-person combination special that included broccoli beef fried rice and sweet and sour chicken with an egg roll. Im very impressed and full, I will be back.

I recently had a takeout experience at Great Wall Szechuan and Mandarin Cuisine, and I was blown away by the quality of the food and the service. Even though this isnt a vegan restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they offer vegan options. The wife of the business helped us with our order, and she was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the vegan menu - she even treated us like family!When I went to pick up the food, I had the pleasure of meeting the husband, who was equally kind and courteous. As a family-owned business, it was clear that they take pride in their restaurant and their customers. The husband even helped me bring the food to my car, which was greatly appreciated.Overall, I highly recommend checking out Great Wall Szechuan and Mandarin Cuisine - they offer delicious food and exceptional service, and the fact that they have vegan options is a huge bonus. Easily the best sit down Chinese restaurant that weve been to! They also dont use any MSG in their food, which is a plus for us.Combination Chow Mein, Mongolian Beef, Szechuan Beef, Mango Chicken, orange chicken General Chicken, string Beans, and eggplant and pork were all fantastic. The meat was tender and well seasoned, the vegetables were fresh, and everything was flavorful and well prepared.Service and alcohol selection is not the best, but the food makes up for it.

We had dinner at this place today and the food as well as the dining experience was fabulous. The owner (or the manager) came to take the order, gave good suggestions and the soup and the food came exactly as ordered. We ordered Chicken Broccoli and Tofu dish with hot and sour soup (chicken and no pork- something they could do as they make it fresh to order). The food was delicious and made from fresh ingredients. We overate and finished all the food. I will highly recommend this place to everyone.

So we waited 45-50 minutes for a table for 2. They sat a party of 5 who arrived after us. Meanwhile, many takeout orders were being ordered, prepared and completed. Once we were called for a table, they said they would sit us but it would take at least 45-60 minutes before any food would arrive at our table. We could have ordered takeout and been in and out much faster had anyone communicated. Really poor communication and service. Also, Panda Express tastes better.

Weve been coming here for years (three times last month), and its for one reason: the Mongolian beef. Its consistently terrific. Non-vegetarian potstickers are also tasty and come with fantastic sauce, if you dine in. Takeway often means you dont get the sauce. And the potstickers can be overcooked. The chicken chow mein is good. Weve never had anything bad here. A really nice hardworking local family owns and operates this place.

If there is 0 star, I will give to it. I don’t normally write reviews but there is a Asian man who maybe the owner or manger that is so rude. We have a 3 year old coming in for dinner before 6pm. I told the waitress that my son is hungry and needs the food early. The waitress was kind and gives him a egg soup but my son don’t want any of it. We did not get our food till 7pm. My son is so upset and begin crying after waiting for so long. So my husband took my son out and I went front to check what’s the situation since there are so many people come after us for take out that was able to get there food. I just said “we’ve been waiting for an hour”. The most rudest man starts yell at me “ I know. We just have so many orders today. “ no apologies. No makeup. We pay to enjoy dinner but now get such bad treated. Our waitress was a kind person, she tried everything she could to clam me down but the guy just had no apologies at all. Such person shall not run a food service business since he doesn’t know how to service people.

We went with the chef’s special today: Szechuan style green beans. It’s probably one of the best green beans that I have tried even over the bay area. The beans are quite tender with a slight taste of spicy. Beans are often overcooked, but this one is not.The KungPao chicken is more like Teriyaki chicken because they used sliced chicken instead of chicken chunks.

Ordered takeout for dinner last night and I have to say, This place is a hidden Gem .Food was incredibly delicious, loved the shrimp chow mein, shrimp were tasty and well seasoned unlike other spots . Not a big fan of orange chicken but after having some here, definitely will re order (:Honey Walnut Prawns were crunchy and 10 out of 10 . Although a bit on the pricey side but definitely worth the price, quality over quantity I’d say . One of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been to, would highly recommend . I didn’t read the reviews because we didn’t have time we were beyond hungry. We arrive and get sat down and we are having to deal with the worst, impatient, uncomfortable, difficult server I didn’t get his name but he was Asian with a nose piercing, perhaps he is with one of the owners or maybe just works there though honestly save your time and money folks and look for a decent restaurant that would treat you like a human being with a little dignity and respect.

From the start we were not greeted with a smile or even a hello. We sat down and ordered our food. After ordering an appetizer and our meals our drinks came out a minute later. They charged $3 for a can of soda and dont give you refills. They only mentioned this after they up sold my wife some spicy meat. Another minute later our food came out. My wife and I were suspicious of having our large meals come out only 3 minutes after we ordered it. Not to mention at no point through-out the night did they bring out the appetizer we had ordered. hardly anyone came to check on us while we were eating. I am usually very forgiving of mistakes like this but tonight it was just one thing after another. We payed for our food after making sure we werent getting charged for the appetizer we never got. It is now 1 hour later and my stomach is sick and my wife is throwing up in the bathroom. I will never be eating here again.

The first time I visited this place was yesterday with my sister. She had a bunch of doctors appointments and we had a little time in between. So since neither of us had time for breakfast, she wanted to stop there. Im so glad we did! Their egg rolls are to die for and she really loves the wonton soup! Went here with my parents and ordered Beef Mongolian, combo Chow Mein, and fried Calamari. Beef Mongolian was hands down delicious! Chow Mein could have used a bit more flavor and I prefer slightly thinner noodles. The Calamari skin could have been removed. Every time we bit into it, it would peel and feel like dental floss. Besides that issue, it was tasty.

The chicken chowmein was below average at best and the mongolian beef was alright. But the soups were absolutely awful. They had some kind of oil in it . The hot and sour soup tasted like oil. There was so much oil you could see a layer of it floating on the top. Very disappointed I cannot recommend it.

The food is OK. But the service is bad. First, we were not given a full menu. They give us a piece of paper with very limited options until we asked for a full menu. Then we were checked whether we have finished our dinner though all the dishes were just on our table for around half an hour. The waitress wanted to remove our plates. They were reminding us to leave. Last thing was that waitress asked for 17% for tip. And she even filled that part by herself on the bill before she brought the bill to us. Worst experience ever in a Chinese restaurant. This restaurant has discrimination for Chinese. No respect.

Great Wall is just okay. I had a surprisingly hard time finding any really good Chinese restaurants in Monterey. Mostly they fell into the category of its fine, I guess, no reason to go back. Great Wall falls into that category. So disappointing, considering the quality of this cuisine to be had an hour north in San Francisco.

My husband and I ordered the shrimp chow mein, beef chow mein, egg rolls and jumbo fried shrimp from this place and were sorely disappointed. First off, when I walked in to pick up my order, the man who helped me was rude and gave me attitude when I asked for chop sticks and napkins. Something that I would assume he is used to having requested! When it came to the quality of the food, it was mostly flavorless, the egg rolls were super greasy, the prawns were over breaded, flavorless, and greasy as well, and the chow mein was mediocre at best.

Completely impressed by their service and food. I do not write reviews often but this company deserves our praise today. We are staying in Monterey for a short time on vacation at an inn nearby. I called another company in the area who couldnt accommodate delivery to inn at this time. 2nd call was to Great Wall Chinese, not only did they deliver this delicious food but without me asking, they brought us plates and forks/spoons knowing thats not something I would have on hand. We had the pork lo mein, and their dinner special at $20 per person, which consisted of a soup, an appetizer, rice, and the main courses. For $20 each, i was dissapointed. The egg flower soup was decent, but had corn in it which i thought was a weird choice. The egg rolls and tempura shrimp appetizers were actually delicious, my favorite part of the meal! The rice and hunan chicken were good, nothing too special. Overall the tab for two adults and a child was nearly $60, which was pretty crazy. Its alright chineese and alright service. The food is good, however, the delivery customer service is extremely poor. I forgot the name of the young man who answers the phone, but he has extremely poor etiquette and lacks attention to detail. The last time I ordered from this restaurant, my card was almost double charged, I did not receive the food I had ordered nor the all of the food that was a part of the meal that had been correctly ordered. Even after the man knew he had made a mistake, he was still going to charge me for receiving the food I had already paid for. After 5 minutes of uh, Ill ask and um I dont know he finally agreed to have the food I had purchased sent out to me again. Those problems aside, the food did not come in a timely manner at all. The customer service was extremely poor and Ill never eat there again. I only hope the owners of the store find a better cashier.

I was not impressed. I ordered the orange chicken and an order of crab rangoons. The crab rangoon was not very good. To top it off, they dont include rice with the order unless you specifically order it. Unforunately, I didnt realize this until I got home. To cover their ass, their menue does say does not include steamed rice under the meats section. I just wish the person on the phone would have questioned why I didnt want any rice when I placed the order.Do yourself a favor and stick to Jims Chinese In Seaside. Food quality and service is much better.
