Tasty Thai food in the Palo Alto. The service was outstanding by Jessica - she moved fast and never left us waiting.We had a bottle of wine served in a chilled bucket, huge serving of chicken egg drop soup and shared a broccoli beef, and a serving of brown rice. Wine took us over 80 or meal would have been 50 before the tip.Everything tasted great! Will visit again.

The staff was friendly, but very slow. I came with my family at 6:00, hoping to beat the dinner rush, and it was half full, but a server came to take our order only at 6:30. I like that its family run and is an Asian fusion. The food was so so, but not incredible.

Google menu and prices are outdated! Got tea leaf salad, golden tofu, Singapore noodles and kungpao prawns. Tea leaf salad and tofu appetizer were good! The noodles and prawns were super oily! The worst part was that the shrimp were not deveined and smelled :(. The entree food quality was similar to a cheap takeout place.

Would come back, food is good. I was blown away how good the pot stickers are. They taste like homemade. I was surprised with the amount of beef in the beef dish. Really enjoyed the food.

Delivery for lunch so no comment on atmosphere. I found the food (fruity nutty chicken) to be pretty average tasting overall, there was not much bell pepper and the mango added was not fully ripe. Rice was a side and extra for all dishes rather than included. Small portion size for the price. Overall, average tasting and average value, for the dish I had at least.

I eat here with my family fairly often - its a convenient and serviceable neighborhood restaurant, but not somewhere Id go good for a special occasion. The food is reasonably good (our young kids really like it). The service is usually good enough, but with the odd wobble - the one time we came here with another family of 4 there was a lot of friction with the staff and the experience was pretty tense. Reading other reviews I wonder whether theyre not so comfortable handling big groups. I also wish theyd give the bathrooms a good scrub. But we look past that and keep going back.

Their food was generally good. The Hot and Sour Soup was too salty. The Lemon Chicken was good. The Pork Fried rice was very good. The Mongolian Beef was good.Service was poor to bad. Maybe they were tired but this visit was not even as good as my previous visit. We called ahead 2 days to let them know we had a group of 15 for a birthday celebration and showed up with 11. They actively argued with us over wanting to move two tables closer to each other so we could all sit together. After we got them to move a small table next to the large table and were all seated another group was seated at the other large table. The other table got served first and left before us. Mostly because we were neglected. For instance we were not offered tea at all. For the Birthday we had brought a cake. We asked if they had a knife to cut the cake. No we dont! was the firm answer.Bottom line is there are better and even worse restaurants but for this level of service we dont plan to return.

We came here by accident because the close-by 4th of July celebrations did not have sufficient eating possibilities. What started out of an emergency situation will become something permanent. We really like this place and will drop by more often.It starts already with the tissue box at the door such that you dont have to touch the handle. It shows you that they take COVID and the health of their customers serious. Both waiters are very friendly and attentive.The food is very delicious. The mango salad was exceptional, especially due to the peanut dressing. The appetizer sampler consists of fried food, which we did not realize when ordering. It was nevertheless very delicious. A specialty that comes with the appetizers are the dipping sauces. They say one is spicy but its actually not that spicy and very flavorful instead. Its more the kind of Wasabi spicy. The sweet sauce was good, too. We had chicken with broccoli and rice. It tasted very good. The veggis where just steamed right and in contrast to other places there was not too much oil or salt used.A true gem, this place.

My parents regularly visit the Green Elephant. The food is always very good and the service 5 star. Last week my elderly father took a tumble outside their restaurant. The owners came out and assisted my father and mother. Compassion, loving and caring..........thank you for caring and feeding my parents too. The world is a better place!!

I was in the area attending a class reunions. And old friends and school mate of mine told us about this place and took us there for dinner. The food was wonderful Chinese food like I remember Chinese food tasted when I was Young, I wish it were not so far away Id be there every week. Next time were in the area we are sure to go there again. We ate family style and there was enough food to feed a small army. Good place to take visiting friends and family or to just go for a nice evenings meal.

First of all, I have not been posting about restaurant reviews often but what I experienced today at Green Elephant restaurant in Palo Alto prompted me that I must share with more people. Though food and most of the service staff are OK, the lady owners attitude is most demeaning and very cheap. When I go there during the weekdays, I dont run into her as often. But I recall once she was the one taking orders from me and my business guests and my guests asked a few more questions, her demeanor became impatient and frankly quite rude. This weekend, I ordered a take out that consisted of 4 orders of fried rice and dishes for 4 of my colleagues working during the weekend. When I picked up, I asked for 4 chili sauce as all 4 of them want to get their own fried rice and chili sauce and share other dishes. The lady owner told the owner in a commanding tone in Chinese (she thought I could not understand Chinese) that he could only give me two chili sauce and I needed to pay if I need more. I could not believe how cheap she is when she said that to the male owner in such a tone. Firstly, I can understand if I ordered four fried rice and I asked for more than four chili sauce, I may need to pay as I could be ordering just one fried rice and I could ask for one chili sauce. Secondly, the plastic container they use for chili sauce is the smallest type you could ever find. The amount of chili sauce the container can hold is probably equivalent to one tea spoon. I have ordered from many other restaurants. Not only they give you chili sauce in a much bigger container, some even ask you to take what your need yourself. Thirdly, I am a frequent customer as I bring my business guests there quite often. I cannot believe how she treated a frequent customer with such cheap attitude. This weekends incident will permanently make me place their restaurant on the very bottom of my list due to the lady owners demeaning and cheap attitude. Regardless what a smiley face she puts up in front of you, she showed her true color and how cheap she is this weekend when she thought I could not understand how she commanded the male owner in Chinese. Just think about this - the male owner is not someone new there. He is the part owner of the restaurant for years. Doesnt he already know what is the policy in how much chili sauce they can give out for takeout orders? I actually just recommended her restaurant to a friend for a 10-people dinner gathering this coming Wednesday. She can be sure that we wont be going to her restaurant now. She does not deserve a customer to be loyal to her.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in this area hands down. Theyve never let us down, and Im especially impressed with how theyre handling business during the pandemic. Tissues to open the door, sanitized pens, and they sprayed down my credit card with rubbing alcohol after they swiped it. Thank you for looking out for your customers!

I came here for lunch and the restaurant was not busy.I was by myself and shown a table in the middle of the restaurant that would comfortably sit 4 people. Several smaller booths were open, however, when I requested to sit at one of these smaller booths was refused.I cannot understand why, in a completely empty restaurant, they could not accommodate my request for a smaller table.I have a bad back and also do not feel comfortable sitting in the centre of a room.This restaurant places weird policies above the comfort and convenience of their patrons. I wont try again.

The food here is unparalleled. From the Mongolian beef to the General Chicken, Wonton soup and everything else is unbelievably flavorful. The table set-up makes it very easy to share and the service is very friendly. We will continue to come here on a regular basis!

Admittedly, Im not expert on Burmese cuisine, but I thought Green Elephant Gourmet was quite good. The tea leaf salad looked entirely underwhelming (pale lettuce, unripe tomatoes?) but was actually delicious. Fried garlic in salads? Always, please. And the tea leaf dressing was lovely. I had a potato/vegetable curry as my dish, which was nice and tasted kind of like a blend between Indian and Thai curries? Ate it with coconut rice, cant go wrong there. Friend got the rice noodles with chicken that also had crispy garlic, which was delightful.

I have eaten at this restaurant for years and love the food. Yesterday ordered from Grubhub: lemon chicken was horrible as was the Chinese chicken salad. Really? Was this really from Green Elephant? Ordered the cashew chicken and the chabade. Super, super disappointing. The chicken tasted strange and seemed to have been cooked directly from pre-frozen, leaving a weird texture. The chabade was literally a flour tortilla cut into 8 pieces and a couple tablespoons of a curry next to it. Not returning.

Food is a variety of Burmese and Chinese dishes. There is a luncheon menu as well as a dinner menu or an a la carte menu. The service was very attentive. Water and iced tea glasses were kept filled. Lunches came with a choice of hot and sour or corn soup, salad, entree and a choice of white steamed rice or fried rice. For a $1 upcharge you can have brown rice or coconut rice. The entrees are served on separate plates so even the luncheon items can be enjoyed family style. Portions were generous and well prepared. Several items could be ordered with chicken, beef, shrimp or fish or vegetarian. The tea leaf salad was an interesting dish that 6 of us shared for a small plate in addition to the luncheon items we ordered.

Stopped in yesterday to get 2 containers hot and sour soup, asked for not too hot, and order of roast pork. Soup had hardly any flavor, and the pork was in a decent sized cotainer,but when I got to my cousins house in Palo alto, we opened it to find a box filled with a thick bed of lettuce, and about 5 small, thin,thin pieces of pork, chewy and tasteless. The bill? Over $37.00!!Skip this ridiculous ripoff,there are plenty of decent more scrupulous chinese/ burmese places around town! I should have gone back and demanded a refund!

I am puzzled by review by Gabriel Doliner -- this restaurant is not near a hotel, it is in Charleston Shopping center. The back may have an alley but it is up against a creek. Green Elephant Courmet is not fancy or pretentious; cuisine is more like delicious home cooking than gourmet; service is exceptional.

The restaurant staff are scammers!! My husband ordered the pumpkin chicken.As he is dishing it to his plate, he noticed there are only two pieces of pumpkin and the rest are all potatoes. He brings it to the waitresses attention and she totally denied it and called the manager over and she denied it too. We may not be Burmese, but we know the difference between an orange piece of pumpkin to a white clump of potatoes. If it looks like a potato and tastes like a potato, then it is a potato. Be aware of this place for the prices they charge. You should get what you ordered. I highly would not recommend this place. Weve been there several times and the last time is the very last.Beware dont be scammed!!!
