Run here for the mini corn dogs!!!What the heck, they were so good! Great selection of beer and ciders here along with alcohol free items. Their dank salad was just ok, not enough flavor and dressing to it. The friend chicken sando and fries were good, but truly we all could not stop raving about those corn dogs. Getting that and a beer next time. Dinner is served!They had live music and the artist was amazing. Great service and vibes here!

I’m not sure if they intentionally over-salt the food since a lot of the customers drink alcohol or they just happened to do it this day… I ordered the Jalla burger with a gluten free bun & fries. The gf bun was actually very tasty but kinda delicate, so the burger was falling apart in every bite. I enjoyed the first couple bites until I got to the halloumi cheese, it just took the saltiness over the top. If you’re gonna get fries with your main meal I recommend sharing them because although they were crispy & enjoyable, the burger & fries together were too salty. Even after drinking a lot of water I felt dehydrated. My husband enjoyed his beef burger, but the chicken wings were so over-salted that they were hard to eat. When we got home we had to take off all the sauce be able to eat them.

Amazing beers and good eats. I would stick with the Asian wings or hamburgers and a couple of IPAs.This place is unique and weird poise the staff is remarkably friendly.Hard pass in the pickles which was basically half a bowl of beets (sugar dirt in my opinion)

Best wings in town. It seems like everything made is made w love. It leaves you feeling good. Nice place to sit and talk over beer and food. Great music. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely a must if you’re visiting Joshua Tree.

We really enjoyed our meal here. They have a good selection of beer and wine, specifically beers that you cant find in the high desert.The food was really tasty. We both had the Grnd Sqrl burger (gluten-free free bun for her, extra gluten bun for me) with garlic parm fries. Burger was a delight. The house made pickles really help give some acidic zing to the meat! But the rotating chicken sandwich this week looked so good that we got one to go. My OH My was it stellar!!! Best late night snack Ive had in a while!!!Service was above and beyond good.If youre in the area, check it out!

My wife and I came here for date night. It was a chill place with nice staff, and delicious food. Theres only a few things on the menu, but those few things are incredible. We got 6 Asian wings, 6 buffalo wings, Sqrl Burger, and home fries. We split the order and talked about how amazing the food was the entire time. They have some unique boozes that you cant find anywhere within two hours. On top of all this, the staff was awesome! Were Trump loving conservatives from Tennessee, but some staff, and customers were clearly the opposite. Guess what, we all vibed. Everyone here can feel welcome. We will 100% return because of the staff, vibe, and food. The amazing blonde named Taylor made us feel like we were home. RECOMMENDATION: Create a website, and change your name on Google to Ground Squirrel. Google does pull up the restaurant, unless you actually type in the weird spelling.Edit: Eat here! A year since my last review. This place is amazing. I ordered 12 wings to go and they are AMAZING. This is still the place to go. 5 Stars.

Great food and good service. It was relatively quiet on a Thursday night at 5pm but the staff were attentive and helpful. The food arrived quickly, and the pulled pork sandwich was really good. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the chocolate panna cotta, it was certainly unusual and really tasty.Wish I was in the area for longer as I would like to try more of the menu, but I will certainly visit if I find myself in the area again.Would be nice to see them use something other than plastic bottles for certain drinks.

This place is adorable and has great vibes. The Dank House Salad is magical. The flavors all mix together perfectly and the horseradish vinaigrette was probably my favorite vinaigrette Ive ever had. Beer selection was great too!

Five stars for the food and beer.Service… wow. Horrendous! Didn’t check on me about my food…. Or anything. No human interaction whatsoever. Sat empty for ten minutes (looked at my glass multiple times)… while I waited a generous ten minutes to get my first beer.Couple next to me had samples and then had to remind the lady that they actually needed beer still…I understand they have weird hours, but understand most travelers are MORE than ready by 5pm so having one person to service them for the first half hour is not right- for customers and the SOLO staff member.By 6pm, four front of house staff… When everything is managed and taken care of.. by the one guy himself.I really appreciated the head chef delivering my food… but All front of house employees definitely could use some pep in your step. No sense of urgency. Almost like they don’t know it exists..🥲 More important to polish the dish ware for the kitchen than to pay attention to customers.You literally are losing money for the restaurant by not timely facilitating the next beer and/or offering desert ///// being around to bus dirty dishes. I would have ordered a beer and desert to stay longer (stumbled upon open mic night) when you have events like these, don’t you want customers to stay as long as possible??? That’s why you facilitate those in the first place.I literally had to put out of my credit card for him to pay attention to me.Everyone commenting saying that beer is expensive… you are getting *GREAT* selected beer in a vast area. Nothing in 60 mile can compare to their beer.All in all, stop. The food is 15/10. Staple of 29 palms.

Saw this place on our visit to Joshua Tree National Park and it was super good! Jackie was so nice and super friendly. The food was super good, I had the mushroom bisque and grilled cheese and my boyfriend had the Jalla with truffle fries. You guys should definitely make this a stop on your trip!

I really wish I could say this was a place I would visit again.When we got there and ordered it took them 50+ minutes to get our food. I understand they may have had internal issues going on but I would have liked them to check in at least once in that 50-minute time frame.The man who collected the payment was not very friendly. Maybe just a bad day for him. I am not sure.I ordered the parmesan fries (way too salty) and the grilled cheese and they were both cold. I was bummed because I thought the grilled cheese sounded really good.I will say I did like how the place looked on the inside. The tables were wiped down, the floor seemed clean, It wasnt bad. The little water jug that we were supposed to use for our water was dirty where the water comes out so that wasnt great.All in all, they were pricey for the service and the food quality. I would have rather driven a little farther to Yucca or Palm Springs.

My favorite in 29 Palms. The Pork Sando is so good. Nice smoked pork with just the right crunch provided by the slaw and pickles. Regular fries were just perfect. The beer selection is not huge but its of high quality. Both IPAs I tried were outstanding. Service was genuinely friendly. I saw a few people being fools about not getting served faster but it was busy and everyone was engaged. Relax and enjoy the vibe, folks. This place could fool you into thinking you were in Laguna Beach or some surf town. Enjoy.

The food was bad. Fries burnt, and the burger almost raw. The server/waiter was smug and had an abrasive affect about him. They had just opened with plenty of staff. There was dirt/debris in places on the floor. Do not recommend.

By far the absolute best lunch spot I have eaten at In 29. How did I not partake in this lovely diner before? I had a Korean style pork sandwich which was to die for. The chef refused to replace the brioche bun with sourdough bread (that comes on their grilled cheese). I am allergic to eggs and diary. Yet their menu states you can sub the brioche bun for a gluten free bun? Pretty bizarre!Also when my food came out it was cold…If you’re vegan or have food allergies, don’t come here!

Great food! A real find in 29palms. Great options for folks who eat gluten free/have celiac disease. They have a separate frier, use rice flour. So, I got my fill of friend food while here. The fried chicken sandwich was excellent, as were the chicken wings. We got the pepperberry chicken wings. Really good!

Went the yesterday for lunch with my wife on a recommendation from one of our local friends. Ordered a Caesar salad and Fried Chicken Sandwich. They were both INCREDIBLE and both were liberal portions. And besides the food being just freagin delicious, all of the staff there were just super friendly and its clear they take pride in the business, which just made the experience noteworthy. Would recommend this to anyone visiting JTree or 29Palms and will 100% be going back on the regular.

Welp I guess the greatest accolade I can share is that we ate here 3 times over 7 days because its hands down the best food in town!I love a good tell and the first time I walked in the door I was greeted with Eric B & Rakim on the jams...thinking of a master plan indeed.Everything we tried was excellent & tasty but one call out in particular is their Hot Fried Fish Sandwich...who said there wasnt fish in the desert?!Just the right amount of spice, not-too-heavy batter, crunchy slaw, pickles and a hearty bun...but heads up it isnt always on the menu so best to check their socials.And they do live music on the reg so whats not to love I ask you?A good mix of canned & draft beer including free Bud Light...youll see.Friendly service, tasty tunes & most importantly, D-licious vittles!

I understand everything is getting expensive but getting a sorry small piece of burger for $14 (without fries) is quite pathetic. Some of us got burgers and are not fast eaters. We finished it in a few bites and finished long before anyone else.The atmosphere was “ok” but ventilation was AWFUL. Eyes burned from all the onions, and air was quite harsh/foggy.Maybe its just an off day but wouldnt cone back for a sorry piece of burger for $14, fries for $5, and a sorry salad of only lettuce for another $14. Three of us came for a late lunch. We all ordered different foods (the jalla, the upscale osan, and the big salad. We all LOVED THEM. My jalla was one of the best things I’ve eaten, and my friend said the same about her osan chicken sandwich. “Best chicken sandwich I think I’ve ever eaten.” We also all loved our drinks. We came here for a brunch after an early morning excursion to JTNP. I absolutely loved the art on their walls. The service was very attentive and friendly, not to mention a diverse selection of brews! I got the bikse which was their version of corned beef and hash with a side of pickled beets. My partner got the burger and side of potatoes. Everything was delicious and well crafted with perfect portions. Definitely recommend for anybody visiting in the area!

Not impressed. Was super smoky in there from cooking. Made my eyes red. There cups for the water were all dirty. I could wipe the inside clean with my hand. It was a film. Hamburger was red. Not pink. Red. Ordered two things of French fries. My baby wouldnt even eat them. Over cooked and almost burned. They didnt even provide a receipt. We ordered the chicken sandwich and that was good. An order of parm fries. Chili fries. A hamburger. A small stout a large beer from the fridge. A coke and a cactus cooler. 82 dollars. Plus tip 97 dollars. We just paid and left never to be a customer again. Cook was on the back drinking beer while we waited 30 mins for our food. The guy at the door kept watching everyone. Even rolled his eyes at an older gentleman that gave him a gift card. Really weird. Never once did he ask how the food was. But had no problem taking our money. First and last time we eat there.

TOP NOTCH! We traveled 700 miles to Joshua Tree National Park and I stumbled upon this gem completely by accident. The selection of beers is absolutely world-class! I came here every day my wife and I were in town. You can crush anything from a West Coast Pilsner to TIPAs, stouts, sours, all of which are the finest quality West Coast suds available! The wings are fantastic, the burger is phenomenal, the grilled cheese is delicious! I met the owner, Mike, bonded with the bartender, David, and these are all legit people who care about their craft. The Swedish Meatball Joel Entrees flavor was explosive! The purple/pink potatoes were perfectly cooked with a light crunch sound biting into the skin, the cranberry jam alongside the meatballs paired extremely well and the pickled cucumber side salad was tangy and tasty to boot! This place rocks! Let me tell you why:1) great service! Honestly some of the best service we have had in the entire country. Friendly and helpful. A lot of places in this area seem like they could care less about customers but they are so nice here.2) the food is AMAZING. Great vegetarian and vegan options even with a very small selection. What they do have is great. The salad dressing on the Dank Salad was perfection and the Herbivore burger + fries was great. The fries are great. Burgers and grilled cheese were good and the service was excellent.Two words of warning -We were there at 3p in the afternoon and the music was LOUD. Be aware if you have little ones with you.The in-house buffalo sauce is unusual, a little sweet and not very spicy. It was better on the chicken sando than on the wings but dont get it if you are expecting traditional buffalo sauce.

Update: back again for trivia. Service was relatively quick and slowed as the space filled which is to be expected. Service was knowledgeable and friendly. As always, great beer selection. Tonight I had the sqrl burger which in my opinion is the best in the Morongo Basin. I love the aoli and the juicy burger. My husband had the chicken sando special, the Nashville hot, which was amazing.Update: back again for trivia and things have changed a little bit. Before you scanned the code at your table to order, but now they have wait staff. I miss being able to see the beer menu, but you can see it on the tapped app. Tonight I had the creole gumbo special which was just the right amount if spicy and my husband had the chicken sando special which was amazing. Great beers, delicious food and awesome trivia.Thursdays is trivia night so just be aware, but that is actually why we go there. Plus the food is really good. I had the grilled cheese with green apples and onion jam to which I added bacon. It is a very nice elevated grilled cheese. All the components meld really well together and the bread is crunchy. I also had the olive oil cake with white sage ice cream. It was mind blowing. The cake has this yummy honey/sauce on it and the detail with the crushed walnuts and apple pieces added a nice juicy crunch. And the beer selection is the best in the 29 Palms area in my opinion.

Another fun night of trivia. The place was packed, so we managed to find seats at the bar. I had a half order of the wings, which were hot, crunchy, sticky, and delicious. My husband had the Sqrrl burger, which he loves as he gets it every time we come here. We also ordered the fries, but they ran out, so they subbed deep-fried hand cut cubed potatoes. Their bbq sauce is on the zesty side but I really enjoyed it, the pork was really tender and flavorful. We got a side of truffle fries with that and the fries are amazing, perfect crispiness/saltiness/truffley-ness that I didnt even need any ketchup (and I love my sauces so this is a first for me!). Some of the best food you can get in 29, this isnt just settling either, its pretty good. Most food in 29 is white people, Mexican food or McDonalds, so this is definitely a step up and has a great feel.I will say that, as a more broad dude, the tables suck and will flip under your elbows unless someones on the other side to counter your weight. Also, the majority of people here are Joshua tree hipsters (obviously) so it can get pretty packed when they get eachothers scent.

One of my highlights of the week. Have been here over 30 times since September 25, 2022. Always tipped 15 % for just beer and 20 to 30 % for food and beer . I never complained. Not sure what I did to deserve such disrespectful treatment on my recent and probably my last visit. Thursday nights can be busy sometimes with trivia. Sometimes staff will take names for tables as customers walk in. I had asked for a table for three and gave my name. After about 15 to 20 minutes the owner says there is one bar stool and small sliver of bar space by service window . He said would i be fine with it. I said yes until the table is available. I thought he was trying to clear the front entrance from many us standing there. After standing for 5 minutes, I go back to owner and remind him that this is just temporary and still need a table. He says yes when one is available. Another 15 minutes go by he gives two tables to people that arrived and put their names on his list after me. How does he expect three people to share one stool for 2 hours or more? Ruined the trivia and dining experience. Had been looking forward to it all week. Could not even see the screen with the way he pushed us into obscurity. I had to leave in start of second round. Never got to order food. Only three beers for our 3 person group upon arrival. His only response to me when I voiced my concern about the mistreatment was Its all good..... . These people have bad business ethics. Instead of reaching out to apologize for bad service, they ban me from the place, purely on this review. I tried going back and wanted to try a better experience. Now Im banned for not being a good homie ???

Completely incompetent. Leaves you on hold and forgets about you. Then takes the phone off the hook during business hours because they are not competent enough to answer the phone and take tables. I just drove past and looked inside. I expected it to be very busy. They are too inept to take more than three tables and take a phone order with two employees inside. And they got my order wrong last time anyway. I’ll keep driving and go someplace that is competently operated. I have worked in this business for twenty years. You can tell when someone knows what they are doing and when they don’t.
