BBQ to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal.I have been to Gus BBQ more than six times now, and each visit has been consistently exceptional. The food quality is absolutely amazing and the portions are incredibly generous. Not only does the food taste fantastic, but it is also presented in a visually pleasing manner, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.One aspect that truly sets Gus BBQ apart from other establishments is their outstanding staff. The employees are not only fast and efficient, but they genuinely care about their customers. Their friendly demeanor and attentiveness create a welcoming atmosphere that keeps me coming back for more.Although it saddens me to hear that my all-time favorite, the guac and chips, has been removed from the menu, I can still vouch for the other delicious options available. The wings, for example, are incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. However, I must warn you that the sauce can be quite spicy. Personally, I prefer a milder spice level, but the quality of the wings still shines through.The burgers at Gus BBQ are an absolute delight. First off, the shopping plaza is amazing. There are kids play areas, water features, and a great selection of food places, shops, and an AMC movie theater. We put our name on a list at another restaurant but the wait was over an hour. So we stumbled across Guss BBQ with no wait. We were seated in the patio section and it took over 25 minutes before our waiter even came to our table. It took almost 10 minutes just to get our drinks to our table. We ordered sliders and fries. Both were good. The food came out pretty fast. Next time Id like to sit inside though. Only because the seats in the patio section were extremely uncomfortable.

Had a good time with co-workers for a Thanksgiving get-together. They had greens! The food was delicious. Cornbread was to die for. Generous portions, everyone was happy. Best part, leftovers! The server seemed to be a little down, but we gave a nice tip anyway. Happy Holidays!

I dined in for dinner yesterday. The wings as an appetizer were awesome. My wife got the tri-tip and it was good but the St. Louis style ribs were extremely salty. I ordered the full rack and I couldn’t finish the ribs due to the saltiness.

Great staff and 30 minute wait for dinner at 530 on a Saturday without a reservation, which was fine. Went back another day with a reservation and was seated right away. Food arrived promptly, the pulled pork tostada was reported to be great and my baby back ribs were fantastic. The gluten free cornbread was very moist and the garlic mashed potatoes were great. Fine atmosphere both inside and outside. Tons of gluten free options well marked on the menu including most of the meats and sides.

Was kind of forced to go here by hubby as he is a meat guy. I was surprised! Food was very good. We shared a dish consisting of two meats. I had the fried chicken - so tender and crispy. Very reasonable prices and nice atmosphere too. Nice for lunch and family dinner!

We’ve been here multiple times and always enjoy it greatly. Special shout out to Tim who was our sever last time we were in. He was so funny, thoughtful, and really helped make our anniversary a special occasion. Everyone in our group went crazy for the deviled eggs and you really won’t believe the size of the beef rib dinner!

This was our first time dining at Gus’s and not only was the food absolutely scrumptious, but the customer service was superb and reminiscent of that southern charm you hear about. I can’t emphasize enough how kind and attentive every single wait staff was, and there were multiple people servicing our table throughout our entire dining experience. We felt so welcomed to be there!Now, about the food—if I could give this place 10 stars, it still wouldn’t be enough! 😋 EVERYTHING was delicious! We started with spinach dip w/ fresh chips and salsa and an order of the onion strings, and the freshness was evident in every single bite. You can tell that they make the chips in house, which were so flaky and crunchy, you can enjoy them without dipping them in a anything at all. The onion strings were so well seasoned and didn’t leave that oily residue you often see when food is cooked without allowing the oil to get hot enough first. They were sooo yummy! ☺️ we also wanted to try their grits (I know—super random…lol), which had a creamed corn flavor. Since I’m not a fan of that flavor, I didn’t favor this dish however, I’m certain others would enjoy it. My husband and son had the Gus’s burger with fries and proclaimed it to be one of the best burgers they’ve had in a while. My daughter and I had the chicken and waffles. The waffles were so light and fluffy that we didn’t feel guilt for devouring every morsel of it! Lol! The chicken though??? INCREDIBLE! I’m hard to please when it comes to restaurant fried chicken but this chicken was sooooo well seasoned and moist all the way through and cooked to perfection. It’s very difficult to find restaurant fried chicken breasts that are cooked thoroughly while maintaining the crispy skin and incredibly moist meat, but this restaurant nailed it! The chicken and waffles are served with a side of spicy watermelon, which is an added treat! The watermelon was so juicy and delicious, and the spice added a very unique twist to an old favorite. Overall, this place was slammin and my very picky family can’t wait to go back to discover more from their menu! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Came here to try it out as Ive heard about this place a few times. When I visited it was fairly empty for the outside seating which was perfect considering it was a nice day. Ordered the gumbo and a blueberry lemonade. The gumbo was delicious but the blueberry lemonade was a little sweet for me but still good.

Brisket was very good! Moist, just the right amount of fat and smokey. Catfish was hot and crispy. Sides were ok. Weve been going to the original location for years in Pasadena, so we thought we would give this one a try. The front door area gets way too crowded with people checking-in and trying to leave.

Great spot for some barbecue, the food had good flavor but was room temperature when I received it. Prices are okay for the portions you get, service was slow for us when we would ask for something it would take over 5 minutes to receive it. Plaza has lots of parking, but with so many stores and restaurants, it gets crowded. Overall good place.

OUT OF RIBS TONIGHT????? We came to eat our favorite BBQ and at 8:26 P.M. and our sever said they were out of Ribs. You should NOT be out of ribs at all on a Monday so early. Where to start. There was good and bad. The pulled pork was excellent, the Brisket was cold and old. The BBQ sauces were good. Most of the side dishes were good. Cole Slaw, Potato Salad ect. The atmosphere was chain design like an Applebees or something. Nice but not charming or unique. They use real plates and silverware, not paper plates and plastic utensils. I like that. They serve lemonade and ice tea in a Mason Jar, I hate that... Cheap/fake. The price is high to very high, $8 for a beer and $30+ for a Entree plate, but part of that is due to the neighborhood.

We always have an excellent experience at Gus’s. Today was no exception as it pertains to our server who provided exceptional service. The two Gus’s fried chicken sandwiches were also very delicious. The one miss today, was our to-go order which should have been collard greens. Instead we got a serving of green beans. Not what we ordered and didn’t realize the error until we arrived home. Check your to-go orders before leaving.

Went with a few friends and had the Pitmaster Old Fashioned, also Charred Citrus Mule. Both were EXCELLENT. The BBQ chicken sandwich and pulled pork dinner were outstanding. Cannot forget the creamed corn, which was soooo good. Prices reasonable too. So worth it!

The peppercorn crusted tri-tip was fantastic... very tender and flavorful. Portion wasnt huge, good if you are normal hungry. The creamed corn was really special, great texture and unique smooth butter flavor. The sweet potato fries were also very good, but would probably try some other side next time. As far as BBQ joints go, this one was is definitely among my favorite. The ribs, pulled pork, and brisket were amazingly delicious. The atmosphere was great, the drink options give you a wide variety to choose from, and the staff were very friendly, helpful, and patient with us. It is very rare that I am compelled to write a review. Usually, if I dont like a place, I dont return. But what I received for $40.00 was so unbelievable that I had to review. My mom and I decided to try Guss as we saw the good reviews. When we got there, my mom and I entered together to place a to go order. The hostess asked if we needed to see the menu. When we said yes, she only gave my mom a menu and didnt acknowledge or give me a menu. I literally had to walk behind the counter to get my own menu. I ordered the ribs with 2 meats as I wanted to sample the offerings as it was our first time. I initially order spareribs with beef brisket and a sausage. They were out of spareribs, so I ordered baby back ribs, brisket and sausage, along with my 2 sides (grits and beans). I then received phone call advising that they were out of brisket. It was understandable that they were out of some of the meats as we went close to 9pm and they close at 10:00pm. So, I negotiated to receive tri tip instead of the brisket. While waiting for our food, we went to the bar to get a drink. The drinks were good. When I got home with the food; I opened it and received the end part of baby back ribs, 4 chucks of tri tip and a regular sized sausage for nearly $40.00. When I cut the baby back ribs apart to eat them, I had 4 sparse bones with no meat that looked like someone had eaten from them and an end piece that was so overdone, that the meat was not edible. The beans were good and the grits had a good flavor but were undercooked. My photos are NOT an exaggeration. I ate 2 pieces of tri tip which was mediocre and threw the ribs away but dug one out of the trash and the end piece to show with this review. I will never return to this place again.

Pulked pork tostada had way too much balsamic, the whole thing tasted like balsamic sweetness even the pork. Maybe it wasnt balsamic I dunno but it wasnt good. Chili was very VERY smokey tasting, smokey at a level that was unappealing and inedible and full of oil and very spicy. Server brought check without ever asking if we were done or offering anything else, not even a refill on a drink. No desert offered. Didnt ask if we wanted any take away containers for our unfinished food. Weird experience. We took that as a sign to leave so we did as apparently it seemed as though they wanted us to. Very odd. Great location and atmosphere but food was not good. We will not go back. Too bad because we live in the area.

I find the food and service here to be decent. However, my experience this time was pretty discriminatory. I walked in and requested a party of 3, to which the hostess said it would be 20 minutes. The manager, whose name I didnt get but was bald, then came by and offered 3 open seats at the bar. We asked if we could have patio seats, but they refused us due to lack of staff, which was perfectly fine. We then accepted the bar seats, but found that the seats werent next together, this was the 1st strike because how could one not recognize that we would like to sit together. The second strike came immediately after when we went back to the host stand and had to request the table again. The same manager took my phone number down, however, he didnt know how to use the ipad system for the restaurant he manages so the hostess had to chase me down to correct the issue. The final strike for us came when we were waiting outside and the manager seated a party of 4-5 at the patio, despite earlier stating it was closed. Way to discriminate, demonstrate unprofessionalism and poor customer service, and reveal yourself as unfit to be a leader in one move. Your already subpar food was being held up by your service. Now you have nothing except long wait times and boring cuisine comparable to any standard American food chain. You guys are pretty much being held up by customers who lack in the knowledge of real BBQ and are too comfortable with your convenient, upscale location. People go a little farther and expand your tastes and knowledge of true amazing food that people actually put work into.

Gus’s fell very short. It was a busy Saturday night so we let the unorganized and poor service slide. But when the food that did eventually make it out came, we tasted bland food. Really wanted to love this place but nothing special. Mashed potatoes tasted like boxed with added garlic, Mac and cheese had absolutely no flavor, and meats were dry. When you pay $200 for a family of 5 you expect a little more for your buck. I would head down the way 5 minutes to Wood Ranch for the same choices but with so much flavor.

Never mentioned and the humidity sucked.i would have doubled my bill for AC or otherwise would have chosen another location. Please tell your customers where you are going to locate them. You need to accommodate grandparents. Kids. And grandkids. If would have known would have chosen another restaurant. Tough to deal with humidity and bugs on your food! It was hot!!!! First time here. Outdoor seating was nice. Everything about this place was great! Our server Kelly was fantastic, didnt rush us and gave great advice on the drinks and menu!! Deviled egg appetizer was the best Ive had around. The kids menu is fantastic, the portions were generous and a great selection, the kids loved the salmon and sliders, comes with a side, drink, & fresh fruit. The Peppercorn tri-tip was perfectly cooked, such a tender piece of meat and 2 sides, mac-n-cheese was o.k. sweet potatoe fries were good. The warm chocolate brownie with cherry compote was a great end to the evening. I hope you get Kelly when you are seated. Enjoy!!Follow up: still 5 stars!! Went a few days later to bring some friends because I loved the experience and was not disappointed. Brianna was our server this time and she was great. Very decent food. I have had BBQ across the country- Texas, Tennessee, Carolinas, Virginia, etc. A lot of BBQ places do other meats well but fall short on the chicken. It either is bland or dry or underseasoned. GUSS chicken did not disappoint on any point. It was juicy and flavourful. Their sauces are also very good.We also tried the Gumbo from their southern kitchen menu and that was good too. Plenty of shrimp and sausage in it. It wasnt spicy enough for me personally. I wish restaurants would find ways to spice up traditional foods without just offering the hot sauce.Service was excellent and our waitress was courteous, efficient and pleasant.

We wanted to try this place out for my wife’s birthday but our sitter cancelled at the last minute so resorted to take out. Wife wanted chicken friend steak, green beans instead of Corn along with the mashed potatoes. I made sure to confirm with the girl that I wanted green beans and mashed potatoes because I didn’t want to bring the wrong thing home. We get home and the green beans are here and they are delicious. The mashed potatoes are nowhere to be found and instead they gave us corn 🤷‍♂️ which was also very good but wifey really was looking forward to mashed potatoes that were non existent. I should have double checked the order when I left which would have been before I got 20 mins away to my house. 5 stars for the food that was made but 0 stars for messing up the order.

This place just opened a week ago. I went at 12:30pm on a Sunday. No line at the bar counter, but it’s about 15mins for a table for 2.Food:- iron skillet corn bread: AMAZING!! flavor and texture on point. The honey butter & jalapeño jam are so good together.- Ribs & Chicken Combo: the boneless fried chicken is tender, but the breaded skin is a bit too burnt for my liking. But it still tastes good. The baby back ribs are yummy too! Roasted Brussels sprouts was the seasonal vegetable: yumm!- Sauces: the Kansas City & the Carolina are my fave!!!Service:The staff at the bar were so friendly, helpful & attentive. Honestly not at all what I was hoping it would be. Im willing to pay for it as long as the food is up to par, in this case it was not. I ordered two picnic plates to share amongst 4 people, with two sides each, one of the plates was short one of the side dishes (red skin potatoe salad), I made mentioned of it and it was brought out afterwards, I wasnt told I would be charged.The plate consisted of 3 meats, choice of ribs, brisket or pulled pork and chicken. The brisket was dry, I would have call it a well done tri tip to describe it better, to make it moist you had to pour bbq sauce, for me brisket speaks for itself without the help of any sauces, it was dry! Babyback ribs were over cooked, fell right off the bone but dry, had to add lots bbq sauce. For one plate we selected the choice of brick chicken and the other fried chicken, both were good. Service was friendly, felt slow and at one point made me feel like they wanted us to stay longer so the place looked full.

We ordered the picnic platter, Memphis ribs and the very delicious cast iron corn bread.The picnic platter offers several options and being a first time we decided to sample as much possible.The Memphis ribs, brick chicken and tri tip were well seasoned, smoked and meaty. The BBQ sauce wasnt too sweet and complimented the all ready delicious and well prepared proteins. The cast iron corn bread was a pleasant surprise! Its served warm in cast iron w/ butter and jalapeno jelly.It deviates from traditional cornbread ; it was satisfying and filling.The Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Mac N Cheese, Baked Beans were all well proportioned, tasty and delicious 😋 For us Robbie was the rockstar of the night and memorable my birthday 🎉 was! Pulled pork sandwich was not good, super watery meat and the bun became so soggy due to that. Only thing that saved the sandwich was the Carolina mustard sauce.The Mac n cheese and brisket sandwich though were delicious, only weird part was there was some mustard or horseradish sauce on the sandwich which made it a little unappetizing. From the looks of the full restaurant & the hour long wait, Im sure Guss BBQ is a great place to eat usually...it just wasnt for me, this time. This is the 2nd time Ive been & the 1st time was awesome! Admittedly, i didnt have any bbq the first time; I had a burger & it was delicious! This time I went all out & had a bbq platter: the Chicken & two meat combo! I chose the bbq brick chicken & for my meats I chose the smoked sausage & beef brisket. For sides, I chose greenbeans (which were amazing) & mashed potatoes ( nothing to write home about). The chicken was awesome: tender, flavorful, & surprisingly de-boned! That was such a plus! It made enjoying it so much easier. Where everything fell apart was the meats...the meats! The sausage,although flavorful, had CLEARLY been cooking for too long as its consistency was actually mushy when i cut into it. I dont know about you but mushy sausage is not something that i want from a bbq place...or ANY place for that matter! Probably the BIGGEST let down though...because, i mean, it IS a BBQ RESTAURANT AFTER ALL...was the brisket: 4 little sad slices of actually DRY meat with a dollop of bbq sauce spread across them. I gave them the benefit of the doubt & i tried to eat them but even with adding some of the bbq sauce provided to each table (which are all good in their own way!), it wasnt enough to rescue brisket that was obviously way overcooked & probably had been sitting wherever they had it for too long. Usually, I include pics of the food I eat along with my review but this time, Im including pics of my food i didnt eat & ended up taking home...because it was just THAT unappetizing...so, I probably wont be going back to Guss anytime soon...unless im craving a really good burger....

Heard from friends about this place so we had to see how it stacked up. Since its fairly new & crowds are challenging, we went mid day & had a very short wait, went for a walk in the new center & were quickly texted for our table time. Several sauces are on the table from their BBQ sauces & Mustard too. Drinks are well made, had their American Mules in copper pots & shared Gus chilli. A cup is plenty to share. We had made reservations, although when we checked in, we arrived before the reservation time by about 5 minutes . It still took the restaurant another 20 minutes before we were able to get to our table. Once seated, though, the waiter was right there to take our orders, and the food was very good . Im typically a huge fan of BBQ. Its my absolute favorite type of food. I was really excited when my friend suggested Guss BBQ before our movie. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I met a friend there for dinner early Tuesday evening before going to the AMC. We didnt have a wait, at all, and the host and wait staff were very nice and helpful. Although, our young waitress should be told that, yes, the Deviled Eggs are strong on the mustard. I dont think that she knows that, or she just doesnt personally think that they are. When my friend asked me if I wanted to share a plate of Deviled Eggs, I asked the waitress if theyre very mustardy, because I only like Deviled Eggs if the mustard is subtle. The waitress said, Oh, no, theyre very creamy! So, we ordered them. My friend was surprised that it was an uneven number of 5 eggs for 2 people, but I understood. Thats how the plate is shaped. Regardless, we split one of the eggs. In eating just a half of one, I was gagging at how heavily-handed it was with both mustard and chives. I had to cover my mouth to not throw it back up, and force myself to swallow it. For our main courses, I ordered the Beef Brisket with baked beans and creamed corn, and my friend ordered the Baby Back Ribs with baked beans and creamed corn. I told my friend that my meat was almost too salty, of which she agreed that hers was pretty salty, too. I found the baked beans to be more onions and peppers, which overtook the flavor of the beans. They werent like BBQ Baked Beans, at all. They were more like Southwest Baked Beans. The only really good part about my meal was the creamed corn, which I finished. Needless to say, I didnt finish the rest of my meal, and took home leftovers. When I ate my leftovers at home last night, I tore the meat into bite-sized pieces, combined it with the beans, and doused it with some of the Simple Truth Organic Honey BBQ sauce that I had at home to make it better. Theres so many good BBQ places in L.A., and especially throughout the Valley, that Id rather go to than go back to Guss BBQ.

Chili powder is not the magical secret ingredient to great BBQ that Gus thinks it is. Its the only flavor that I could really get in the chili or the tri-tip that I ordered. The baked beans had a great fruity note to them up front that was then steamrolled by... you guessed it... chili powder. They were operating way above their pay grade. They should have asked wait staff and hostesses to help out to turn the tables. Instead they had one poor busboy doing it all. The experience was bad from start to finish. We get a text that our table was ready. So we go in only to realize that they had texted four parties at the same time, which didn’t feel safe COVID wise. Though I did appreciate that they actually checked vaccine cards. The hostesses got confused and gave our table to the wrong party so we had to wait another 5 to 10 mins. When we finally get seated we had to wait another 30 mins for the waiter to tell us she would be with us in a min only for her to disappear for another 10/15 mins. The manager finally noticed we hadn’t been helped so she grabbed our waiter and gave us a complimentary appetizer. When we finally get our food it was very clear that the food had been sitting out there for a while because it was room temperature. We finish our food, get to go boxes and wait for the check. As we are waiting we start joking that we should just get up and leave bc they have clearly forgotten about us. We finally get the managers attention and she sends over our waiter. Only to find out that someone had closed out our bill so she thought we had paid and we could have in fact left without paying. Paying was a hot mess bc we were charged for things that we shouldn’t have been charged for and it took forever to pay. The whole thing was a chaotic and the food wasn’t even worth the trouble. They weren’t even that busy so we assumed they were understaffed, but that’s on management. It’s your job to make sure your staff isn’t overworked and overwhelmed, so do better. Anyways save yourself the trouble and just go to Chipotle. At least the food would be warm.

Visited during Thursday night football and dodgers playoffs and was able to get a table in 20 minutes. Food was excellent, had the 2 meat bbq chicken and baby back ribs. Delicious. This was some of the best BBQ Ive had in a very long time. The first chicken was unbelievably crispy and moist. You could also taste the smoke ring on the brisket, it was simply amazing. I also reccomend the creamed corn, it was so different!! I cant wait to go back and bring more people!

Went here yesterday and the restaurant has a great atmosphere! Many inside/outside areas, with with a warm inviting vibe. The food is very flavorful I had the rib sandwich with sweet potato fries served with a garlic aioli, very tasty! Love to their barbecue sauce! My brother & sister-in-law had the rib/chicken combo. My niece also enjoyed it they have a great kids menu. All the employees are very friendly a big shout out to Robbie the one with the mohawk he was such a nice guy and really goes out of his way to please you. The manager came over just to chat and say hello and see how we were all doing and if there was anything else they could do for us, now Thats What I call service!

So I found this place by reading about it in West Ways magazine. Made the short trek over the hill from Simi. I had their Pork Ribs and two meats combo... the pork baby backs were tender and meaty, with just the right amount of pecan wood smoke! Then, we move on to the smoked sausage, which was just slightly charred, which I liked... firm, but not too dry. The other meat was the brisket... overall, very flavorful, but they could trim it just a bit better, as it had some fat in it. Otherwise, I would like to have seen a bit more rub and bark on the brisket. Moving on to the two sides, the red potato salad was to die for; it reminds me of German-Style potato salad, just not hot. Good medley of flavors in it. Good selection of local craft beers to chase down this very Dank Cue. And, to finish it all off, their blueberry cobbler is DA BOMB!! They said theyre still making a new batch but the server never return at least to tell us that they wont be able to give us extra dressing. The margarita was a total mess. My mom has been raving about Guss fried chicken for 2yrs, so I finally decided to check out their menu two weeks ago and ordered their brisket, seasonal vegetables (green beans), southern greens, and chili to go. The brisket was divine, but I didnt care for I believe was BBQ sauce. I was taken aback by the greens being left whole and not cut/chopped, but they were well cooked and seasoned. The green beans were too al dente for my liking and lacked flavor. The chili had a nice rich flavor, yet the broth was somewhat watery. I will definitely order the brisket and southern greens again. I ordered take out of whole memphis baby back ribs, southern fried chicken, and gumbo for dinner. We found out it only gave us three out of the four sides we ordered, but when we arrived to pick up our order, there were so many people so we just didnt bother to go back and ask for the missing mac N cheese. Tbh I was quite disappointed on the taste, the first and second bites were good, but the ribs were too salty for us to finish and the gumbo was too spicy, and salty. We came to Guss just a few days after it was reopened for dine-in. We didnt have to wait too long for a table, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu. Food was very good and, again, we didnt have to wait too long. The guacamole appetizer was a little different from what we were used to, but very tasty. I had the tri tip and my wife had the chicken combo, and we ended up boxing half my wifes dinner - serving size was generous. We would have ordered dessert if there had been a gluten free option, so if Guss were to add a flourless cake or something, it would definitely be a hit with us.

Gus’s Porter Ranch CA, lunch time 10/16 -I just showed up and was seated quick, order my drink and menu item with in minutes. Very attentive staff. I ordered the PULL PORK TOSTADA SALAD and MAC AND CHEESE. Unannounced was a small cast iron skillet with fresh hot corn bream with spicy jelly and butter ( really tasty) my food arrived with in 10 minutes or so. My salad was lightly dressed and so HUGE !! This allow me to try the bbq sauce on the table ( mustard bbq sauce my favorite) the Mac and Cheese was really good saucey - not dry and heavily proceeds mass of starch like most places.Over all very good lunch Gus’s is a chain so the true test would be going to another location and eat again. That said I am happy satisfied with good food. Definitely recommend this Q- spot as a must try.

We ordered two different combo dinners so that we could try different things, and so glad we did; everything was amazing.
