Every time I eat here, it feels like Im in heaven. I salivate just thinking about coming back. Being able to grill your own meat while enjoying it with friends and a cold beer is priceless. Though, I never leave until I feel like my jeansbuttons are about to pop. Its definitely a must every time I fly to California.

This is my second time here.Really disappointed.We waited for food half of the time.The waitress was evidentially overwhelmed. (And dont have the best attitude...)Customer service from this woman is a one. (Or 0.5). Hannael, If you dont want to work on Thanksgiving Day, dont... Im sure you have a choice?Food was okay.I had a real good experience several years ago. Not sure what happened. but. Definitely wont be coming back.(Left the restaurant feeling real grouchy... :( )

I was told by the server that the entire table had to have the same package for the all you can eat portion of the menu. While I can certainly understand this regarding the tiers, meaning if two people have a lower tier then a third orders a higher tier, the two could sneak portions, etc. Youd like to believe the best in people but thats life.I asked the staff if there was any way to make an exception because I was taking my daughter and her friends out for a large party, and I was going to order a la carte because I dont eat meat at all. They were completely unwilling to make any sort of exception.Im completely willing follow the rules, however, I politely challenged them on saying a number of options and absolutely stone wall. Rigid adherence to policy and a lack of customer service ruined the experience for me.Then I sat for forty five minutes in their bar area and no one came to take my order. It was much longer, but the reason I mentioned the forty-five minutes is a spider dropped off the ceiling and landed on my head

Delicious! The tables are a decent size considering how many plates you can end up ordering. I’ve only ever gotten the all you can eat option. Good cuts and tasty seasoning/marinades.Seniors and kids get a discount. Kids under 6 eat free! Score! There’s some metered street parking, otherwise there are nearby parking garages.

We had to wait a bit for a table, but it wasnt so bad because they let us sit at the bar while waiting. Awesome staff made us feel real welcomed. After we sat down we were able to order right away; got our drinks, and shortly after some appetizers. Honestly when very smoothly. All the servers were awesome. The managers were the best!

This is the second time Ive been to this JBBQ chain, so I kinda know what to expect. The food was great, no doubt about it. We were a party of 5 and had a reservation so there was practically no wait. We did the $45 AYCE premium course,The main issue here was the kitchen. The store wasnt even that busy but we had to wait awhile after each order before receiving our food. The waiting sort of killed the excitement that my group had for the dinner.I advise placing a large order in the beginning and then order more as youre about to finish 75% of the first order. This way the food keeps coming.

Had met some friends for a quick bite at the Downtown location and thought it was pretty good. Definitely good enough to give it a solid try for a full meal. Went for diner with 4 people total. We decided to go for their 4 person package diner which included several appetizers, sides, meats and a desert. We opted to add a few items simply because everything on the menu looked delicious. Definitely for than enough food for everyone. A steady stream of items, each better than the last. Service was fantastic as well. Everyone had a great meal and a fun night out. Already planning on the next visit.

The restaurant is pretty spacious compare to Gyu Kaku in Beverly Hills. The atmosphere was good, hostesses were super friendly. Food was amazing as always. To start we had miso soup & salad. We had tuna poke nachos, chili & yuzu roast beef (both were delicious). For the meat we had 6 kinds. Everything was almost perfect till the last part that we were given wrong dessert (we asked two orders of s’mores but we got one s’mores + green tea ice cream). Our waiter was missing in action so we had to swallow it since the ice cream started to get melted. I also had to ask the hostess to swipe the card cos our waiter, Aaron, was nowhere to be found.

This is the best gyu kaku location. Way better than most Korean bbq meats. Korean bbq has only a few of my fav meats. Gyu kaku premium has the best premium meats that I’ve tasted in LA. I’ve been to quite a few locations. This is one is the best one all around.

I usually dont like that I have to pay someone and I have to do all the cooking work, but this place is different. The variety of meat choice they have, even the rare ones that I like (beef tongue), they have those! The services leave room for improvement. I had to wait even though I had reservation, so I dont know what was that all about? I dont mean waiting a few minutes. But we are talking about food here, so I give a high mark.

Fifteen minutes go by, no name called, ask again. “We are waiting for your table to open up” another twenty minutes goes by. I went ask again how long do I have to wait. The stuff finally told me they don’t know. They do not know?! Then they told me many grills are not working, kitchens are backed up, and there are several tables are in front of me!!!! Went with my family, a group of five. We were sad that we could not do the all-you-can-eat unless every single person at the table did it because there was only one person who didnt want to do it because salmon isnt offered in the all-you-can-eat. The only seafood you can get an all-you-can-eat is shrimp or calamari. Our waiter was great and very friendly. I really think they need to season their vegetables and side dishes better, they were pretty tasteless and dry. Some butter, oil, something! I do recommend the mushroom packet though its delicious if you cook it long enough especially. That does have butter. The garlic noodles are the best ever. The vegetable spring rolls were a hit and it was so fun to do the smores at the end. Decent value and good location.

I was impressed of the menu and also how good it taste, all was fine until I used the restroom, it looks like none has cleaned the restrooms for weeks, you can see several layers of dirt... i was going to take some pics, however this is probably an oversight from management, my question if a restroom is as dirty to us... the public. Happy hour 7 days a week! Great place and great prices. Ive been coming here for a couple of years. The service is good. Make sure to listen to the servers recommendations on minutes needed to cook your food. This is a Japanese grill where you are the chef on some items. I love their ramen soups (even when its a 100 degrees outside). Give this place a try and it will most likely get on your list of frequent places to dine.

Came here on a weekday for dinner. I did make a reservation on OpenTable just in case it was busy but that day wasnt at all busy and we were seated right away. there is free parking for 90 mins on the structure across the street. theres some street parking but very hard to come by.Food wise we got the Meat Lovers BBQ course. The menu says its good for 2 people but it was easily enough for 3 people. The set was great from starters to the bbq items and of course the smores. My favorite among the meats was probably the Premium Sirloin very tasty and tender. Other items were also very delicious. They have a cooking guide on the menu on how long the meats have to be cooked. The smores at the end was a nice touch, I havent toasted marshmallows in a while. Service here is good they do regularly check on you and they change the grill as needed.Would definitely go back here and try the all you can eat!

Amazing place, I will definitely be bringing all my friends here. Initially I thought ~80$ for food and drinks was steep for 2 but I can say it was worth it. Great quality food. The 75$ combo for two is a great deal. Huge selection of dishes. soup, salad, fried chicken, desert, and like 6 dishes of meat. Came out feeling like I had just had AYCE. servers were busy but always made time to refill drinks and make sure everything was going good. Only complaint I have is the meat sushi dish. Really not good and Ill be asking to sub it out for something else next time. Still a 5/5 experience.

We decided to order one three item and one two item lunch special which gave us five kinds of me. The pork belly stood out to me the most is being high quality and tender. The other four were all beef and there was not want to disappointed. If you download their app, they often have specials and we used a $10 off when you purchase a certain amount coupon. So so service, the grill was either too low or too high. The portions were tiny, even factoring inflation. $130 for 2 adults, felt like kids meal. Came here for date night, it was my boyfriend’s first time! We made a RSVP to be seated quickly. We ordered their $75 Meat Lover Value pack. It includes, salad, edamame, soup, rice, several beefs, and a s’more for dessert. This is a great option for 2 people. You get a variety of everything and the portion sizes are good. I didnt know this, but this location actually does take reservations, and It pays off!!They have a great variety of red meats, but their chicken selection is lacking. Party of 6. Veteran KBBQ-ers and avid GyuKaku goers! I normally go to the one in Topanga, they are rockstars, but this location was more convenient for the entire party so we came here last night.There was definitely something wrong with the grill because it took a long long time for the meat to cook. Lol Listen here lady, I have grilled on a lot of grills and let me tell you, there was definitely something wrong with that particular one. She came over without anyone even have complained so for sure people before us have said something.It was taking so long to cook, everyone maybe had a few several bites before we were just over it. I myself for sure had no more than 8 to 10 bites of meat the entire time. Definitely left hungry and having ate mostly sides.Service was sad and the employees looked disgruntled. I wanted to order more spicy cucumber but they were just taking so long to come to the table.I am so sad for our experience. We paid for the all you can eat $45 a person plus alcoholic beverages. Super disappointed. I think I will be sticking to my regular Gyukaku for sure. That meal was not worth $300. I could have eaten better elsewhere for what we spent. The restaurant in Pasadena is great, food is great, the service is great but there is one thing that always puts me off. The smell of it when you get in, it is certainly not pleasant. It seems that they clean the floor with a dirty mop or something as it is also sticky.I believe they could do a better job cleaning it thoroughly to get rid off that smell.

For the most part, the food was good. We ordered Chef’s Favorites; and out of the many different kinds of meat that came out, I would say the pork belly was my least favorite. It was not very tasty at all! However, the rest were good, but the portions were small. For dessert, we got s’mores, which made my kid very happy. She got to roast it herself over the grill— much like you would on a campfire.The service was good, too. Our server was friendly and always checking on us. Overall, we were very pleased. One thing to note is that the wait is over an hour if you don’t have a reservation. So, it’s a good idea to make one in advance.

Was charged 121.00 today….I’m not even in the area. Called to get the charge reversed, was told there’s nothing they can do. And their system was faulty with charges from March-July 2022. They claimed hundreds were back charged. I was told I couldn’t be refunded and to basically just trust I spent that money there. I’ve been there twice and have never even spent that amount…..poor experience with management, raising her voice at me on the phone saying I’m just telling you what corporate said. The food here is amazing. The price is reasonable. The cook yourself dining experience is unique and fun. Its great for after work happy hour, date night, or a work lunch, My only complaint is the staff always seems to mess up one thing. Screws up include: forget to bring me a dish, bring the wrong dish, did not notify me that items were sold out until after I had order. I was there the other day and they forgot to put the chicken in the garlic chicken noodles. Despite the issues I still recommend this place.

This place is always great- happy hours rocks here! You can have a pitcher of beer for $7.50 or 6 bottles of beer for $10. I would recommend making a reservation as it does get busy. I know its covid, but I wanted to share an honest review. First, there was already an empty table available (but still had dirty dishes) so we inquired about it, but they said to wait. we were waiting outside 20 minutes until someone finally cleaned it (again, we saw it when we had gotten there at the beginning and asked about it). There was only like 4 tables outside for seating, and we were a party of 4. They were pretty attentive once we sat, but once we put our orders we started playing the waiting game. It took quite some time before the salads came out, and only 2 of us got it (all 4 should have had it). We brought it up to the attention but again it was a waiting game. Then again the main meals did the same thing. The meat is cooked for you, but its probably the cold, coupled with the service that when it arrived, it was barely lukewarm, and when it came out, it came out staggard so by the time all 4 came out, the first 2 were practically refrigerator cold qnd the second 2 was barely warm if that. The only thing that remained warm/hot was the ceramic pot holding the garlic rice. (I highly recommend this).All in all, it was ok. I wouldnt do this again during covid, but maybe when its fully operational and you can cook your own stuff.

Decided to come for happy hour and get a few bites to eat. Location is great walking distant from the parking structure . Since we were a bit hungry we decided to order a few things . I have been to only two of the branches: Torrance and Pasadena. The food at both places were great. A slightly different experience at the Torrance branch because of the Dine LA menu and slow service. The servers were always nice and ready to help but because it seemed to be during a shift change and breaks the service was lacking in terms of punctuality. The other differences between these two branches is the Pasadena branch definitely has more space and I was lucky enough to be there on a Niku day which was on February 9th. The word for meat and this date are pronounced similarly. From what I was told Niku means meat and because we were there in the 2nd (Ni) month of the year on the 9th (kyuu) day they have a special deal. Great and good experiences at both branches but when I do go back the Pasadena branch will be my go to. Peace

Good place to go eat if you want Japanese bbq or miso soup. Reasonable price for the quality of the meat in their all you can eat menus. The alcohol is a plus and the environment is better.

We came in and the place was busy. I asked the hostess for a table for three and I was told the wait would be 15 minutes; not bad so we decided to wait. Our table was ready within 30 minutes. We ordered the Gyu-Kaku Course ($60 for two people). Next time I want to try the Meat Lovers.~Food~For starters we got the Edamame, Gyu-Kaku Salad, Assorted Appetizers, Miso Soup, and Sukiyaki Bibimbap. The Edamame was seasoned and served warm. We didnt really eat the salad because we were saving our appetite for the main course; the peanut salad dressing was good. For the assorted appetizers, it came with two fried fish ball, two gyoza and two rice sushi with spicy tuna; nothing special. The Sukiyaki Bibimbap comes in a cast iron bowl, the rice is mixed with onions and beef.Chicken Cheese Fondue came with a tin foil bowl filled with pieces of cheddar cheese. We placed it on the grill to wait for it to melt. Then we dipped the chicken (marinated in pesto) in the cheddar cheese; I personally didnt like it very much. I only ate one of the Shrimp Garlic, it was okay. The short rib and skirt steak would be my favorite. Spinach Garlic and Mushroom Medley was wrapped in foil, we placed it on the grill for four minutes (two minutes on each side); I enjoyed the garlic flavor.~Desserts~For desserts we got six gram crackers and small pieces of Hershey chocolate bar with 3 sticks of marshmallows. My daughter loved this the most!! We melted the marshmallow, placed it in the middle of the gram crackers and chocolate, then we squeezed it. Ta Da .... chocolate marshmallow s more, it was delicious!!~Customer Service~I was not very happy because the waitress didnt come as often to check on us. Good food, great service. Would recommend if youre looking for some american-style.japanese BBQ and the interior is awesome too, but didnt quite give me that feeling of being back home in Japan. Food was comforting and arrived quickly.

When I first visited this restaurant I wasnt too thrilled about having to cook my own food but its prepared very well and is absolutely delicious the staff is polite and friendly and always do a good job I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious tasty food. The coupon could not be applied to dinners or meals. Only ala carte items. The items portions were small and both my date and I left hungry. The ala carte items were served in odd numbers so they could not be easily divided between two people. Particularly the filet which was served in 3 huge chunks, try eating that was chop sticks ! The poke again very very small - the fish was not marinated it was just sushi sitting on seaweed. None of the meats, except the stringy fatty pork was seasoned and the dipping sauces were not very flavorful. For what they were charging for Ala Carte items there should have been enough for two people on each item, quite honestly there was barely enough for 1. Oh and since it was ala carte we got no rice or other items to complete the meal. Oh and the mushrooms dude? Really a teeny tiny little portion of mushrooms in a piece of foil. So go back LORD NO !Both my partner and I felt that the coupon was a rip off. I wish this feed back would display on google .... oh maybe it will !

Weve been going to Gyku Kaku in Pasadena for the last 5 years. A great place where the foods are prepared and you cook them. With families and friends participation is so much fun and it didnt feel we were in a stuffy restaurant. The Japanese/Asian menu is vast and full of prefix items and a option to order a la carte if you dont like whats one the prefix items. I go for the prefix if you are indecisive. Each prefix menus includes appetizers. All proteins are thinly cut and are marinated including their corn, cheese broccoli,,,,this helps to cook it evenly and cut the cooking time. The round barbecue grill is at the center of the table and each one of the guests gets a pair of metal tongs.They have great happy hour with beer and your choice on a mug or a pitcher, some great spirits and cocktail drinks and some sake, and some sweet plum wine as well with regular wine.Its a healthy way to eat cause theres no heavy sauces or oils plus helps control how much you eat while youre cooking your food. Itll give your body a chance to ingest what you have already consumed.At the end of your meal, smores are provided for dessert with your prefix menu. Plus they have a la carte desserts.Recommend making reservations cause youll wait a long time during the 6-7pm hour any time before that its not a very long wait. Just be aware of the holiday times.

I usually come to Gyu for happy hour. The meats are usually much more affordable if you stick to their selections, and you can get a cheap pitcher of Sapporo also. This is a big restaurant and can accommodate fairly large parties if you want to meet up with a bunch of friends. I really like this Japanese style of grilling compared to KBBQ, but it does add up to be more expensive.
