If you guys need a fun spot to take your kids, friends, family, coworkers, or even for date night, then gyukakuoakland got you.Our waiter Josh gave us a full explanation of the menu and tips on cooking the food bc it was our first time at a Japanese BBQ restaurant. We were so excited!At @gyukakujbbq, you can order à la carte or choose the all-you-can-eat options. You can also choose their amazing set-course meals for 2, 3, or 6 people. We opted for the value course for 2 people, and a kids meal for my 6-year niece that was only $6.99 plus $1.50 for her s’more.The food was delicious, great selections of appetizers, and the meat quality was excellent. Don’t forget to order the s’more! My niece had so much FUN cooking her food, especially her s’more that she wanted to come back the next day.

Amazing and filling food off the ordering for 2 menu. Shout out to the server Ian 🗣️some of the best service I’ve ever personally experienced would go again based off that alone.

We went there on Apr. 16th around 6:20 pm with a group of 8 people wanting to celebrate our friend’s birthday. The service, however, is totally unacceptable. First, the manager was unclear about the rules, stating that they are unable to provide the all-you-can-eat simply because there are too many people in the group, which is a total non-sense as they can provide all-you-can-eat if you split the bill to 4 and 4 people as mentioned by the other manager that replaced him afterwards. (The manager that came in later was way better, so I am not complaining about her, and I think she did a great job cleaning up the earlier manager’s mess) Second, there were not a lot of people there at that time, but the service was extremely slow and we saw waiter ignore us after clearly seeing we are calling for him. (Pic 4, when the restaurant was mostly empty).Also, the food was really different from the pic in the menu (pic 1 and 2), and it is hard to believe that they are the same thing, or they are just trying to be misleading on purpose.The food is great though just to be fair, but there are plenty of better options with cheaper price and better service for BBQ, and I recommend going to Ohgane Oakland for all-you-can-eat BBQ and Lana just one block away from this restaurant for great ice-cream as dessert.

Food is nice. The restaurant is clean and service is good. Not too busy on Saturday afternoon. We had meat lover course. The meat quality is as good as expected and it’s worth to upgrade to Prime Kalbi Short Rib! Overall experience is great but not really enough in terms of quality for two men.

The food is really good and decently priced. Where they went wrong is the service. The first time I went there was only two tables taken and I had to wait 10 minutes. After being seated I had to wait another 10 minutes for my order to be taken. The waitress got my order wrong and I had to wait another 10 minutes for them to fix it. She then gave me my bill 5 mins into eating. I thought it was weird and inconsiderate. I went back a second time to give them a second chance and this time they were a little bit more busy then before, but I had to wait 20 minutes for a table with no explanation. 20 minutes turned into 30 and I asked what’s the wait for and a waiter told me more than half of there grills stopped working. There was a whole other side of grills completely empty and working perfectly fine. How do i know ? Well the couple that came in after me were seated in the exact spot immediately. I gave them two chances and it seemed like they were racially profiling me both times. I felt uncomfortable and disrespected. I really enjoyed there food but the service is TERRIBLE. I’m NEVER GOING BACK!

Japanese BBQ is quite different from Korean BBQ. We did not get all you can eat (in 90 min). Instead, we got the Yakiniku Party which has plenty of food for 4 people. The quality of the meat is really good. The pieces are soft and juicy. The s’more is fun to grill. More expensive than Korean BBQ but everyone had a good time.

The service staff is very friendly, and they even squat at the table to talk as is required in Japan. But the speed of serving food was way too slow….. I think there was obviously a shortage of people in the kitchen.

Everything is Great, our Server is fantastic! The food is dellicious! General Manager Allen is a COMPLETE jerk. How he got this position baffles me. With his customer service he should Manage Dennys. We observed him tell the server to get rid of us. The fact that we come every Sunday and spend a lot of money here makes him no difference! We are and were appalled at his classless act and unprofessional customer service! We highly recommend this restaurant, but we believe he needs cultural diversity training and needs to be written up. We hope the owner reviews the tape from today! Finally, he displays horrific Leadership.

Food was alright but overall seemed overpriced for what it was. I wanted to like this place since it’s really close by but probably won’t be back unless they polish their processes a bit.Some complaints. The meats were cut unevenly both thickness and size. Some dishes from our combo were missing until we asked for them. The sauce bottles were sticky (ew, especially given covid). Some other minor gripes that don’t necessarily ruin the experience like the light above our table kept flickering, miso was was still chunky at the bottom, karaage was not crispy at all, plates looked a bit dirty, the pen with the check was dry, but overall together gives an impression that the place is not running smoothly.Food still tasted fine despite everything else, I mean it is grilled meat, hard to make that taste bad. However, I would expect more for this price and have gotten better service and quality at comparable restaurants. Server was pretty attentive and good overall though, I think most of the complaints were outside his control.
