Incredible Ethiopian food! Every time we go, the food and service is excellent. When we get take out they always provide napkins and silverware when needed. My favorite restaurant in Fremont!
DELICIOUS! My first time trying Ethiopian food and Im glad I stumbled upon this place. Very flavorful meats that are stewed with onions for over three hours! Tangy injera with fluffy, spongey texture! This place convinced me that I should try more Ethiopian food.I recommend getting a meat and veggie platter! For a first timer like me, this gave me the perfect variety. It was big enough for two of us to share too! My boyfriend and I chose the beef, chicken, and potato & carrot. Our server recommended we try their veggie platter in the future as well. Lots of lentils, very popular!Such kind customer service! The man working allowed us to sample their chicken to see if we could handle the spice level of the food. So kind! I personally cant handle spicy food too well, so I really appreciated it AND it wasnt too spicy for my preferences! The customer service definitely added lots of charm to the whole experience.
Delicious! I got gomen, misir wot, and doro wot. Came with some salad which was a refreshing complement to the hot dishes. Misir wot was my favorite, had strong spicy flavor.Super friendly owners too! Feels like you’re getting a home cooked meal.
I was so eager to try this spot! I got the lamb bowl and gomen. The gomen was so so salty. I like salty foods but this was not edible unfortunately. The lamb bowl was flavorful and a nice amount of spice but I pulled a long hair out of my mouthful of food which just ruined it for me. I love Ethiopian food and the flavors here were good but I dont know that I would return based on the saltiness and the unfortunate hair.
Service was excellent, food was very good, individually cooked meals took a bit longer to arrive. Smaller place, parking can be tight.
The food here was awesome the owner Solomon was even great. It these moms and pops businesses that have the best food ALWAYS. You can taste the quality of the food and care that went in making it. I recommend getting the Mushroom Tibs. With whatever else you get..... Of course I didnt use the fork! 💪🏾
Very efficient ordering over the phone and pick up was a breeze. Thankfully they take Apple Pay for contact free paying. The quality was excellent and every type of stew in the combo was distinct. Cannot forget to mention that the Injera was perfectly fresh and chewy! Ethiopia truly is the home to so many great things, including kind people, world class coffee and delicious food!

This is a small family run restaurant. The food tastes amazing. We always get the veggie platter and the mushroom dish on their menu. Consistently tastes great and an absolute go to for Ethiopian food. Their tiger tea is pretty interesting too!

1st time trying this place. Simple place with simple decor, but amazing food. Had the meat combo platter and was VERY happy eating this. I loved everything about this. Flavors was big, but not overwhelming. The platter came (with 3 different meats - lamb, chicken, and beef) and a veggie greens side along with a nice tangy salad which compliments the flavors. There was injera under the food, as well as some rolls for eating. The lady running the place I presume is the owner, is extremely nice and friendly. I’ll be back for sure, and I’m sure this will become one of my favorites!
The restaurant serves very delicious food. They have a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes which can be served either mild or spicy. Solomon, the owner, is very patient and welcoming. If you are new to Ethiopian cuisine he can explain the options for you. The restaurant setting is very clean and simple. I noticed that the owner knows sign language which would be very helpful for members of the deaf community ordering here. I highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I had a very pleasant meal here and plan to return.

Delicious vegetarian combo. difference between the 11.99 combo and 14.99 combo is theres an extra curry and more pieces of injera. there wasnt any sambusa today but hopefully well taste that soon.
When in doubt, Ethiopian food is my go to, and this spot is a must. The flavors are absolutely beyond words. The injera was generous as well as the portions. Staff is friendly, and service was on point.

This place is soooo good! I loved the homey atmosphere, and the owner/chef was extremely kind and welcoming. I stopped by around 8:30 PM on a Thursday night, and I had the restaurant to myself. I ordered a Fish Goulash that came with Injera bread as well as an Ethiopian spiced tea. The flavors on everything was OUTSTANDING! The spice level was on point, and everything was just delicious. This was my first time having Ethiopian food, and I honestly cannot wait to come back! Im hooked :)
The food here is delicious, and what a fantastic new option in Fremont! They have excellent vegan and meat options. They are also super friendly. My whole family loves this place.
I want to love it because I love the cuisine in general but I kept comparing it to the venerable Cafe Colucci in Berkeley/Oakland, which would spoil anyone. The chard was good but the flavors not quite as rich as CC. The spicy lentil stew was *great*, we ordered a separate order of seconds. But on average, the dishes were very good but not *great*.The most disappointing was that the portions were small and stood out as small, with isolated piles on the injera, where CC would have big piles all connected; and I think the injera came from an outside bakery, the waiter removed them from a plastic bag and they were served refrigerator-cold, even on the plate with the food.The best things were that spicy lentil stew, which Ill probably pick up to bring home for lunch now and then.I was longing for good Ethiopian food in the Fremont area and this will scratch that itch because I wont drive 30 minutes for dinner very often. But Ill always be comparing it to CC.

Excellent food. We had the vegetarian combo. It was not greasy, very flavorful, and good size portions. The owner came out to talk and he clearly cares about the quality of the food and servicing his customers. Probably the best Ethiopian Ive had in the Bay Area.
Tiny hole in the wall restaurant. Not many tables. The food is very good(it is what I go to restaurants for). I got the veg combo. It came with Ingira. Way more than I could eat, and quite tasty. My wife got the meat combo. She had a big smile when she was done.
I dont know Ethiopian food, this was my first time; but just as food, this was great. (I was probably drawn by the name of the store, which is actually the owners wifes name!) I appreciated the owners friendliness and conversation; that only added to what was a good meal in itself. For me the spice levels (heat) were just enough: had kick, but not so much that you couldnt enjoy the food.
Go here for the food not for the ambiance :) Decent selection of vegetarian fare as well.

Its a small place with maybe four tables. The chef takes orders, delivers food to tables, washes dishes, and anything else that needs to be done. Shes charming.And the food is awesome. Especially the vegetables. I got a combo with meat and veggies and was overwhelmed by their freshness and flavors. The cauliflower, lentils (especially the green), and the green beans were all awesome. The meats were good, especially the spicy beef, but the quality of the veggies blew me away.I also had a spiced tea that was excellent.Ill be back.
Good, prompt service but the food was a bit lacking. Usually the vegetarian options are among the stars of the show but here, the lentils were bland, the collards were watery and the cabbage and carrots were very light. They almost needed the meat dishes to be palatable. In contrast, the meat options were almost over spiced and salted. There also wasnt enough injeera for the take out portion. The plastic tray seemed to collect steam and force flavors to mix. Perhaps the more traditional presentation on top of injeera would preserve the flavors.In short, good serving size, nice people, but wed go elsewhere for a go-to Ethiopian place
We were so excited to find a genuinely authentic Ethiopian restaurant near our home! This place is fabulous! The man who owned the place was so sweet and provided great customer service! Every time since the initial visit we’ve been served by the wife. She is wonderful and so attentive. My husband loves meat and enjoys the lamb. It is very spicy to him, but if you are used to spicy it’s probably perfect. My daughter and I are vegetarians so enjoyed the veggie combos.Seriously...Everything was AMAZING! The lentils were spicy so my husband loved those. The cabbage and potato dish and split peas were not spicy so I appreciated those. And we ALL loved the injera bread! It was so fresh! Really...It was beyond phenomenal.We believe in supporting local family owned small businesses so we are thrilled that we will be able to frequent this establishment!! You have got to try this place!

My favorite Ethiopian place in the Bay! The ambience may not be the best - but the food is amazing. Husband & I always get the combo with doro wot (chicken) & misir wot (lentils). Both are the right amount of spicy & delicious. Food is always fresh & service is great too. Cant wait to be back!
I love love looooooovvve the food from this restaurant, especially their veggie platters! I dont know why but everytime I have anything from their restaurant I get a huge burst of energy after I eat. Is it just me or does that happen to anyone else that eats from Haleluya? I love it because it a better pick-me-up that one of those 5 hr energy shots. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone I know. And also the family that runs this restaurant are super nice & friendly. I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could! 🌟
Small family owned place. Very attentive on their service. The food was very good. Tasty, abundant. Spice without burning or palates. We could have it outside, on a table with chairs and family style on a big tray. It was a que nice and pleasant experience.
My husband and I are obsessed with this place. I took him for Ethiopian food before, years ago, in LA. He didn’t like it at all. But he loved Haleluya! We eat here at least twice a month.
Small place, but great food and services. It is about time we have an Ethipian restaurant in Fremont. hard working couple owners who make their food with love and care. I always have nice conversations with them while waiting for my food, gives me a good sense of community. Come out and support them, this is a hard time for everybody specially the small food businesses and mom and pop shops.

Absolute GARBAGE!! Period!Its hard to describe how disappointing the food was--because Ethiopian is one of my fav cuisines and I have a lot of tolerance for Ethiopian food but this place ranks at the very bottom of not just Ethiopian but ANY meal Ive eaten.The veggie platter had red and split peas that were super-saturated with salt, enough to make one puke! It was as if they sold what theyd made three days back except they forgot that most of the water had evaporated and it was a gooey gunk from the ocean floor! The Gomen was mildly tasteless, as were the boiled veggies.The Shurowat could be renamed Exxon Valdez-wat! It was oily as heck and sour with just one piece of chicken leg in 16oz of oil and red carmalized onion and tomato.At least the food was expensive, almost $35 for two dishes, this place is a rip off and best avoided. There are way too many great Ethiopian restaurants around to have to trek all the way to this dumpster.

Delicious food and very friendly people. We decided to get the Combo platter and everything was very tasty. It was very quick and they serve bowls too. Dishes available for vegetarians (the vegetables are delicious)or if you enjoy chicken, beef, or lamb.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant, but not my first time eating Ethiopian food. I ordered the meat combo (as I usually do) to go. I really wanted to enjoy the food. For it being a meat combo there was not much meat. It was all just drowning in sauce. The flavor didnt wow me and I really love Ethiopian food. I was given 3 injera rolls and it wasnt enough for the sauce. Im not sure if there was a mix up on my order, but it wasnt what I was expecting at all.

Great customer service, I decided to try them out, but accidentally came an hour before they opened. The nice woman accommodated me still. The style of food was new for me and Im very glad to have eaten here.
At first I was a sceptic. It looked like a beat down diner. But looks are not everything. The menu had a wide variety of food, that I appreciated because my mom is vegetarian. Once the food arrived, I list all scepticism. The food was simply a joy to the tastebuds. The curries a beautiful blend of spices, and the injera was a perfect pairing. Overall, amazing.
I was able to visit Haleluya Ethiopian Gourmet during the Covid 19 lockdown today. They take great effort for their customers! Everything is done with gloves and masks with sanitizer on hand for after payment transactions.The food was incredible. I ordered both the beef tibs and the three meat combo expecting to eat one today and one tomorrow. They were so good I ate both today.The staff is so friendly, their smiles beaming through their masks as if they weren’t there! I highly recommend this place.
Their injeera is delicious. I go every couple weeks and stock up. The meat and veggies are good too but I feel overpriced, so I typically stick to the injeera. The people running it are very nice so this 5 star is for their kind service especially.

They are stingy on ingera, the main ingredient in Ethiopian culture! They giv 3 roll (very small) for 5 order of stew and kitfo! Am I supposed to drink it with straw? Enjera doesn’t even cost that much but it’s disappointing to find out you have nothing to eat your wot with ! And please control your salt.

Nice authentic fresh food at this mom-and-pop shop. Once, the kind owner offered to even keep the restaurant open after 9pm because we were running late. Very personable folks.
Its delicious, its local, its worth a try.I come here anytime Im craving some doro wot or anything with berbere. The doro wot is exactly what I want when I want some saucy food with a drumstick worth eating clean down to the bone. The meat is tender enough for plastic forks to make work of it.Add in some lentil sambusas, dip it in the doro wot sauce, darn good eats. The injera is also great, spongy, filled with holes ready to absorb that sauce. Its food that you eat with your hands and its got the textures and flavors that make you lick your fingers.

By far one of the best vegan food I had, I tried the veggie platter and it was delicious. Definitely will be a regular on days when I will treat myself to a hearty and filling meal.

This place is great! I ordered through DoorDash and live in Palo Alto- the overall time was 50 mins to get my food but when it came in it was still very warm and everything was very tasty! Will be ordering from here again!

2023-08-27 22:50:46First time at this place and it was very good. My friend and I ordered the highly recommended veggie combo platter for two. It was very large so we werent able to eat all of it (second pic is how we left it) so Id say this could even feed three semi hungry people. My favorite part of the platter was the potato cabbage carrots. The lentils were good, but were a little too salty for my liking, but it didnt take away anything from the overall meal. We ordered the lentil sambusas as well which were very good, but the platter couldve filled us up itself just fine. Our waitress was VERY kind, so nice. She was so warm and welcoming, and I just felt so comforted and cared for. I would come here again to try more of their menu and the great service.

They need to update the photos or should include salad as customers are expecting for the price they are paying.Food was little blend… needs to add more salt spice.Very helpful staff.

For veggie platter we got Red lentils, chicken stew and potato with mix veggies- all were delicious. Injera (the dosa) was soft and light. Doro Wot has subtle spicy flavour. The owner was very humble and welcoming. It’s a great place for clean and healthy meals.

I found that the flavors were amazing, ordered the veggie platter n meat platter and was the perfect serving for 4 of us. The service was great and it was a great experience to try another countries delicacies🥰

2020-01-16 18:38:22We had been waiting for an Ethiopian place to open in Fremont. We enjoyed the veggie combo platter with pretty standard sides. It was fresh and full of expected flavors. I must also say, very pleased with the service. The couple (assuming its family run) took care of us well that size of the place didnt matter. This place also have to-go on the menu which is great! Will definitely visit more, cant wait to try their to-go. A must try!! Good luck!
