Hamamori Restaurant and Sushi Bar in Costa Mesa

Hidden gem on the third floor of South Coast. A good friend asked me to join for dinner and did not disappoint.Employees were genuinely happy, eager to serve and there wasn’t a wait in line to come dine. All fish looked extremely fresh, and the omakase selections from the chef were amazing.Would come back!

The restaurant has been open for 15 years with the same owner Hamamori. It is an upscale Japanese restaurant. Every sushi piece is unique under the Executive Sushi menu (8 pieces Hamamori Gems). We enjoyed every dish ordered at Hamarori Lunch Tasting Menu, e.g., miso soup taste is very unique, etc.Our waitress is very friendly.

I stopped in for dinner with a friend during the week, our server was absolutely amazing with great recommendations on not only what to order but also how much to order 😊 The food was fresh and delicious, my taste buds were LOVING IT as the plates kept getting delivered to the table. Great experience 💯👍

Stopped for a quick snack and stayed for a lot of drinks. Enjoyed the Japanese banter between our bar chefs. Next time I am ordering the Executive or VIP because I want more.

Located at the beautiful South Coast Plaza. Nice atmosphere with friendly staff and fantastic sushi.

The food here was decent. Nothing amazing about the sushi or sashimi. But the reason for 1 star was the service was terrible. It took half an hour to place the order and another hour to get our food which was still missing an item from our order. When we asked about the last item it took another 20 minutes to have it prepared. All in all not a great service experience even though there were only 3 more customers in the restaurant during this time so not too busy. Basically very slow and inattentive servers.

Spicy tuna crispy pizza ⭐⭐⭐⭐- loved this specifically dipped in soy sauce with wasabi- the rice was crispy and the tuna had a little bit of a biteOra king salmon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- really delicious- good textureBlue fin tuna ⭐⭐⭐⭐- I think Ill just always like salmon moreKumamoto Oysters ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨- I liked the mignonette sauce

Today I ordered the Executive Sushi, which is a lunch serving of 8 pieces of Hamamori Gems. Hamamori gems are premium nigiri with a premium topping on top.Each lunch serving comes with a house salad and miso soup.Each piece was very delicious, and some pieces had some unique combos that I haven’t seen before, including some very tasty sauces. The uni bluefin piece was the most flavorful in my opinion. To finish off the meal, I also ordered a tamago, which at Hamamori is a very fluffy cake like tamago, very delicious.

Amazing food, tonight we had Yoshi chef and there are no words to describe his creativity and experience. We love coming here because they always make us feel like we are home. Fantastic service. James keeps the atmosphere warm and makes all of the customers feel special. All their employees are fantastic 😍
