Ever since we went to Hawaii we’re always on the hunt for good, authentic Hawaiian food and this place nailed it! The chicken katsu was crispy yet moist and tender. I also ordered spam musubi which was delish. The portions are huge and it’s reasonably priced, especially for California. We will definitely be back.

I ordered the BBQ mixed plate for 14$ and also a BBQ chicken musubi. The plate had BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, BBQ short ribs, macaroni, rice and salad. A fountain drink was extra costing.The service was quick and the prices were under 15$ for entrees. The BBQ beef was the best part, very flavorful and wish I ordered a full plate of it, the BBQ short ribs were mainly just bones and chewy. The BBQ chicken was just plain chicken, nothing really special there. This place is comparable to Ono hawaiian BBQ but less greasy, which is a good thing.There is a bathroom located here, down a long hallway on the side of the kitchen area. It was okay for a quick last minute stop to eat.

This place gets 5 stars off taste alone! Swung by on a Saturday afternoon for the first time while having a Hawaiian BBQ craving. You not only get better portions and better taste but pricing for a short rib plate is better compared to other places! Very humble place, nothing flashy, just solid food. And they cater! Definitely worth a visit.

Came here hungry after a flight (and at my Hawaiian hotel managers recommendation). Was not disappointed. Had the BBQ mixed plate. Everything was excellent. Chicken perfectly cooked, great Miami ribs. I probably should have gotten something a little more interesting? Super curious about the Lau Lau and Kalua pork. I did have a Spam Musubi, which was a delightfully indulgent sushi roll.Would recommend, would come back, probably in any state of sobriety. There are tables here to eat but expect takeout joint ambiance.

Found this place actually on yelp, parking is a little challenging but worth it. Food is decently priced and very very very good! The lady in the front Hana, is amazing! She was able to accommodate us on a last minute order on a Sunday with about 70 pieces of musubi! Will be returning here in the future. 👍🤙

Family-run business. Lovely people. Stopped here with our DIL who grew up in Hawaii. She felt the food was authentic to the island and tasted great. I had the shrimp sandwich and loved it!

The beef curry bowl is Japanese style, with big chunks of veggies and tender brisket. The serving size is pretty generous for the price.Delicious kalua pork, served quickly and piping hot. Ill definitely come back to try more of their food items.

I was so happy to find out that this place accepts credit card. Great portions, decent price, and food was great! Parking does kinda suck so plan accordingly ie carpool/be prepared to walk a bit just in case. Please excuse the horrible pic. I didnt get to eat until 1 hour after but amazingly the chicken and shrimp were still crispy.

The food was pretty good. The macaroni has that distinct white pepper flavor and not bland like other places that serve Mac salads. The chicken and teriyaki were spot on tender and soft and ribs were decent. Friendly service.

Absolutely mediocre experience here. Waited 5 minutes while the girl at the register took an order on the phone. She never acknowledged my presence or even seemed to care that 3 others had lined up behind me. I tried joking with her once she was finally ready to take my order, and I got absolutely no response from her. She obviously wanted to be anywhere else but there. I got my food after a short wait and went back to my hotel, where I was totally underwhelmed with the quality and flavor. There were hidden bones in the chicken, and the seaweed on the spam musubi was so gummy I couldnt bite through it. The macaroni salad was flavorless, and the cabbage was cabbage. Maybe I came at a bad time, but my experience was night and day compared to the positive reviews that brought me through the door.

I agree with other reviews saying L&L nearby isn’t as good as it once was. Hana Hawaiian Barbeque is a welcome addition. Parking can be a bit tricky, but the food and service are excellent.

Small pet peeve but a grand opening sign just permanently up. Food is exactly like L & L with some random new dishes! I got spicy chicken and it was the BBQ chicken with onion and some kind of chili oil. Quite spicy and no sweetness to balance. Musubi is fine. Katsu could be crisper. The service is aggressively mediocre. Girl working does not care and I realize she might not be getting paid too much. But at least let me know when the transaction is done and I can walk away. Do I need to sign? Did it go through? Nothing other than ... Uh did you want your receipt suggested this. Calls out the order and puts it on the counter for you to walk up to... By the time you get there shes already back in her chair on her phone. Not much to expect here. Nothing fancy, nothing terrible

Great quality food and flavor! Best chicken katsu and short ribs I’ve had in awhile from a take out spot. I was impressed by the freshness of the items, since similar eateries in the area have gone downhill (ahem, L&L). There’s a variety of combos and menu items available. Service was friendly and efficient. The ambiance is a little lacking, but it’ll do if you’re hungry and craving some island fare.

I dont know if it was authentic but it tasted like a million bucks. There really isnt anything like a plate lunch/dinner when you have an appetite. The loco Moco was a huge fresh portion but the meats in the plate dinner were *chefs kiss* It may not be considered fine dining but it was gourmet eating.

I honestly wasnt expecting much from this place. Stumbled upon this place before I dropped of the rental car at the airport which was like 5 mins away. The food here is so good, everything from the macoroni salad to the ribs were amazing. The portions here were huge and that runny egg with the rice was heavenly. It was the perfect meal before I got on my flight. If I every come back to visit SF Im definitely putting this on my list to eat again rather it be when I land or when I leave.

Their soup noodle was a very small portion and was served in a container that I would assume was my left overs to take home. We had to try their Kaula pork and compare with what we had in Maui. Its very good, of course we were spoiled with the authentic way of cooking kaula pork in Maui. The portions is perfect for one person for dinner. Next time the pork lau lau. The counter lady could have a smiling, that might make the ordering a little less uncomfortable, she might of had a long day, otherwise she was pleasant greeted us when we came in.

You cannot go wrong here. Hawaiian macaroni salad is a little different that macaroni salad from the mainland. Keep this in mind and you will love it. They make everything how it’s supposed to taste. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. I am so happy a quick Hawaiian bbq place opened close to home. There are parking lots in the back as street parking is always full. Anytime I go in, the place has steady business. The bbq steak plate with macaroni and rice are my favorite.

Really nice late night affordable food option on San Mateo Ave in downtown San Bruno. Even though I arrived within the last half hour before closing, the gal working here was super nice and patient with my to go order. I enjoyed in the following order: chicken katsu, BBQ short ribs, and kalua pork. There was a mountain of chicken katsu in my regular sized entree and it was really good value...not sure if I got more because I was the last order of the night. The kalua pork was pretty good, but there was just a pretty high cabbage/pork ratio. For $9-$11/entree which comes with a couple of sides, its hard to go wrong regardless what you get. Were a long way from Hana, but this place does Hawaiian proudly.

When we decided to go to Hana Hawaiian Barbeque, we didnt have high expectations. Weve eaten at a number of Hawaiian restaurants in the area and those started by people who arent from Hawaii havent been very good (Hanas website does say the kitchen staff has experience in Hawaii restaurants).We were pleasantly surprised that Hana significantly exceeded our expectations. We had the kalua pig and lau lau combo, the spam saimin, and the musubi trio. The plate lunch was quite good, with generous portions (the lau lau was really stuffed) and good flavors. The saimin noodles werent quite the right ones but the flavor was good. The katsu chicken musubi was the best of the three, nice and crunchy - the nori wrapper didnt quite go all the way around which would have helped to keep it together. We thought that everything was a little less salty than it is in Hawaii, perhaps an intentional catering to California tastes (Im fine with it).My first inclination is to give Hana four stars as a good solid choice worthy of our repeat business, but not quite great. However, while it isnt the best Hawaii food Ive ever had, it quite possibly is the best Hawaii plate lunch type place I know of in California. In addition, I thought their prices made this an excellent value, which should count for something. So Im pushing them up to five stars as long as both of those things are true.

Wonderful little spot with some of the most delicious Hawaiian food in the Bay Area. the Kalua Pork is some of the best Ive had this side of Maui, but its got a good couple of rivals in the Garlic Basa and the Loco Moco. macaroni salad is amazing as well- not too runny or fatty and chilled to perfection. also sells some hard to find Kauai Kookies, so keep an eye out. oh and take my advice: a small will fill you up, but a regular will give you leftovers.

I packed it up and ate it. I ordered the BBQ Mix (3 types) and it was generous and delicious. Its a bit salty, but similar to Korean food. Spam musubi is also delicious.^^

My dried shrimp did not give me salt, they did not give me soy sauce or hot sauce like in other Hawaiian but that is often by order of the owners and not of the employees
