(8/17/2023) Around 4.5 ⭐ Awesome Chinese Style Vegetarian restaurant with a good portion of food. It has lunch menu but it only applies takeout only. Regular menu prices are good and portions of the food are the same as well (based on area). Service is good and friendly but only minus 0.5 points for charging money for hot tea (Jasmine Tea is awesome and smells good) and a little bit slow (only 1 person on service but not busy). Thai Fried Rice and Vege Kidney with Basil that I recommended for here. Also, Sizzling Plate is good for trying in my opinion (Vege Shrimp, Pork, Bean Curd)Recommended takeout for lunch because it has Bento promotion (buy 3 get 1 free) or any vegetarian people to try here. I personally think this is one of my vegan spots that can come back with my family.

Wow, my first time here. I was greeted by a very nice lady, she offered us some delicious hot tea. Their menu has so many options! We tried the house mushroom chicken with sesame seeds and the beef with broccoli and it was amazing. Definitely plan on coming back here in the future!

A great place for gourmet vegan cuisine. Delicious food and reasonable prices. Comfortable setting for both small and large parties. The fried Oyster Mushroom and Shitake Mushroom dishes are my familys favorites.

Rude, lazy customer service and force you to tip.Came in 2 hours before closing time l, the waitress send me away rudely no Hi or greeting anything. She is obviously just want to close early.This was my 1st experience.As I am mostly vegetarian been traveling to Diamond Bar so I came here the second time as it is next to Ranch 99This time another waitress force me to tip 30% after I paid because I ate more than $45 worth of food? Which is illegal. I am a starving student just got paid haven’t a first meal out for a long while.The food is average not bad and not good.Since Ranch 99 is right next door. I would just started buy my own food and cook.I came to this restaurant because awhile back there was a GOOD vegetarian restaurant with the same Chinese name. It was close due to pandemics.From now on I will find other vege restaurants or Western food.You could have earn a new fan. But your food and your customer service is a total failure.

The most Terrible Experience with Vegan Food Ever. their dining plates and cups are as dirty as never been washed for 50 years. Then, their food quality is very miserable. The Squash doesn’t taste like Squash, the Tofu taste like animal waste. Nightmare. Don’t believe any good reviews on Yelp for this restaurant.

Perfectly made and authentic Chinese vegetarian dishes. Very attentive staff and took good care of our large party on a Saturday night. And our kid who normally dont like eating Asian foods her parents like enjoyed her meal. Her other little friends, who usually dont like soups, even enjoyed the bamboo pith soup with her ! I should have taken picture of the soup but already finished before I know it. The hand rolls were also instant hit with all of us.

MY FAVORITE CHINESE VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT. TASTES AND LOOKS LIKE THE REAL DEAL BUT EVERYTHING IS OBVIOUSLY VEGETARIAN. SERVICE IS GREAT THE LADIES WHO WORK THERE ARE SO NICE. OFFERED ME A BOWL OF RED BEAN SOUP EVEN THOUGH I WAS JUST WAITING FOR MY TAKEOUT.

Immediately as soon as you enter the door your greeted with a friendly warm smile by one of the staff members. The place is usually not too busy which is great. Less wait time.There are staff members that can speak English fluently so no need to worry about not being able to speak Mandarin.The price for each food I think is priced reasonably and you get a generous portion.It range from $10.95- $22.95. With inflation on the rise it make sense.I would describe the atmosphere as cozy warm, family-friendly place. They dont play loud music in the background which I prefer.Its nice to be able to have a conversation without having to raise my voice.Overall, I highly recommend this place to anyone whos never had vegetarian food before. 10/10 recommend.

Service was slow, food was oily and salty. No lunch specials on the weekend. I originally thought this was the same place as the one located in Times Square on Atlantic in Monterey Park. That vegetarian place was way more delicious. We only ended up here since the place we wanted to eat at was renovating their kitchen.

We stopped by here after my gradma’s funeral. Buddhist tradition is to eat vegetarian for 49 days after the passing of a loved one. Party of 23 on a Wednesday night. Everyone was very impressed by how delicious the food was, and the restaurant was able to accommodate all of us. All dishes were great but the stars were the orange chicken, sesame mushroom, Peking duck, and the tea they served. The meat substitutes they use are top notch. Even the meat eaters where impressed. I would come back here.

We have a great Thanksgiving dinner there last year! Wonderful selection of simple to gourmet vegetarian cuisine. Our familys favorite dishes are Crispy Shiitake Mushrooms with Bean Sprouts, Crispy Oyster Mushroom, Dry Sautéed Green Beans, and Shredded Bean Curd with Basil.

This spot is in the same location as Happy Veggie Garden which was a favorite of mine. I was very sad to hear that they closed permanently during the pandemic. Came to try the place that took over to find out that its the same chef that cooks there. Its just different management. Really happy about that since the 3 cup chicken is so good here and still is. Along with that we tried the duck which was good as well. Did I mention it was all vegetarian?! Come check this spot out for sure.

One of my favorite vegan restaurants, I drive far for happy family! My favorites are the crispy mushroom, orange chicken, wonton soup, green beans, and pretty much everything else I’ve ever tried here! The service is quick and friendly too. And they package rheir to go items well so it doesn’t spill in the car! I’ve been enjoying happy family for years esp at their other locations, so I will be a dedicated fan for life!

This is the worst tasting Chinese vegetarian food Ive ever eaten. Theres a reason why health inspection closed them down last week. I believe the restaurant has new owners. I asked for a specific dish that I ate there two weeks ago and they were clueless. These new owners dont know what theyre doing and there food is not being cooked with the best ingredients. Reheating the leftovers was even worse than what I ate two days ago. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place. The staff are dishonest and are the ones that replaced the other ones prior to the restaurant being shut down.

I had the Spicy Combination and it was good as was the service. The portion size was large enough for three people... I really dont need that much food. Enjoyed the Jasmine tea but would prefer it in a ceramic cup. The tofu is all organic/No GMO. ☺

Everything we ate tasted so good. Im from the east coast and hope to come back here someday. Loved all 5 or 6 dishes we got. Sorry, I dont remember which dishes. Most places Ive been to, their foods tend to all taste the same but here, every dish tasted different and delicious.

Friends and family encouraged me to try this place out after they praised the food. I may have to reconsider all future restaurant suggestions. This place failed at the most basic level. Bad service with our server being just rude when I questioned him about some of their specials. Took more than a few times to get water and even then it felt as if I was in there way and should give up our table. When our food showed up it got worst. We ordered six different items, all of them were disappointing and just bad. Never again. When I complained to the manager or someone who says they were the manager they did not care and refused to adjust my bill. After more than twenty minutes with them arguing with me they finally adjusted my bill. I gladly paid and will never return. Nor should you give it a try.

Happy family provides great vegetarian and vegan food. Its one of those places where you doubt going in because the exterior of the shopping center doesnt look all that inviting, however once you manage to get passed that and enter the actual reataurant youll notice that the food is truly one of a kind and in a good way. If you want to tickle your tongue with vegetarian shark, pork, duck or shrimp, this is the place for you! Great food and great people, come in for the food, leave with an experience!

Love this place! My families favorite vegetarian restaurant on Colima. Were typically order the Mushroom house chicken and sizzling plate. Mushroom chicken has a good texture compared to regular chicken. The Sizzling plate gives you a wide array of their vegetarian meats in one delicious gravy covered plate.

Lunch special are about $5.25 per dish where you get an array of different combos. Rice, congee, toasted chinese bread, and soup.My family and I use to come here all the time, but the service went down and theyre food quality is just not up to par from what we are use to.Even so, we couldnt pass up on the special..we came and each entree literally came out 10-20 minutes at a time. I like it when my plate of food as a mixture of different variety. What wounded up happening is I get one plate of vegetables..finish it and then another will come out.What really ruined my experience here was that they totally forgot to bring out our last plate of food? They were quite busy during lunch but looking all around us everyone got there food except us? The odd part was that the lady serving us remembered us from before and was super courtesy and nice but the mistake happened to us?I hate to give good customer service low scores but what happened really was not acceptable.

I tried this place and thought it was alright, until I saw the following report from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune today:Three dead nymph cockroaches floating in water in a large pot with cabbage were among the reasons a health inspector shut down a vegetarian Chinese restaurant in Rowland Heights in December.The discovery was made on Dec. 19 at Happy Family Restaurant, 18425 Colima Road No. 2F-B in Rowland Heights. In a report on file with the Los Angeles County Public Health Department, the inspector also made note of:One live adult cockroach on the floor by the mechanical warewasher.Three dead cockroaches on the floor by the mechanical wareawsher.Two dead cockroaches on the floor by the mop sink.One dead cockroach on the bottom shelf of the interior of the one-door reach-in cooler.Three dead cockroaches on the floor by the rice cooker.Two dead cockroaches on the floor behind the ice machine.Two dead cockroaches on the floor below shelving in the small storage room.One dead cockroach on the floor behind the chest reach-in freezer in the small storage room.One dead cockroach on the floor in the women’s restroom.Cockroach fecal marking in between the white wall and metal splash guard by the oven.
