The restaurant clean and had a steady stream of customers - singles, couples and small groups. The food was delicious. Due to the pandemic, not all the sashimi was available (supply chain), the wait staff was down to 1 and the chefs down to 2. Not their fault that it took a while to serve everyone as quickly as they would if fully staffed. We enjoyed our meal and used the time to converse.

My daughter and I love Happy Sashimi, so whenever were at this shopping center, we have to eat there. Last time we went we decided to order to go, and as always the customer service, and the food were top notch! Besides our regular order of California rolls, we ordered the Hello Kitty and the Golden Roll which were really tasty! The shrimp tempura here is so good too and we tried the deep fried twinkie which was also delicious.

I’ve had the worst experience getting service at this restaurant I waited for more than 10 minutes at the front counter and nobody came up to me so I went through the other door and when I went inside the lady tells me to get out go to the front and then come inside again which made no sense to me when I was already inside. I felt racial profiled . The server with super long nails is very rude.

My first legit bowl of Ramen/pho and it was perfect. Met every expectation and then some. Also tried a Crazy Monkey Roll. Highly recommend coming by Happy Sashimi if you are in the Pinole, CA area. Great food and friendly service!

Happy Sashimi never fails to deliver delicious Japanese food. We love going here. Friendly service and clean atmosphere. I love their Spicy Chicken. I keep coming back for more. Their Ramen is also customizable to our liking. One of our favorites is their Nigiri Sushi combos. Its a must-try.

Everytime I order when I get home to eat something is missing, 2 times was my miso soup, unfortunately I never checked because they gave us a tied bag, u trust everything is inside, the sushi is good but if u ever order to pick up make sure nothing is missing before you get home…..

Loved going there all the time. However, the last 4 month the quality of food and service has gone way down. The portion size has reduced. When ordering sushi the roll are so small compared to the prices. The service has gone way down. Especially the server that works Monday lunches. She should not be in the service industry with her personality. She acts like she doesnt want to be there. She makes me feel like Im a bother. I no longer go there anymore as well as my friends and family. Its very unfortunate because that was my favorite spot.

Food is pretty good. We enjoyed all the sushi rolls we ordered( hot and cold rolls). The Sashimi wasnt really that fresh though. The service started out good, but then they just forgot about us once it got a little rush of customers.

Absolutely love this place. The staff (every single one of them) are always greeting you with a smile. The sushi and nigiri here is so delicious, and the atmosphere is great. We have tried every roll on the menu and still have no complaints. Occasionally, the restaurant will get busy and the wait times for sushi get relatively long, but they always let you know before seating you. I 100% recommend Happy Sashimi.

Food is great, service is great, ambiance is nice too. But the restrooms always need attention. Not only messy everytime we go, but they are dirty and dingy and need a good scrubbing and a paint job.It seems that such a successful place would take more pride in their entire establishment.

The food is good but I will not be returning ever again. I paid for extra short ribs and they looked like they had been cut into thirds and barely had any meat on them...Its a shame you have to rip people off to make money. You wont be getting anymore of my money

Happy Sushi. Wow. It’s definitely a NO for me. My coworkers order often, but they have warned me of the discrepancies in service for different ppl.This is the second time I’ve gone for lunch and had an hour to spend and spent that much and still didn’t get adequate service. The first incident, the waitress “angry tapped” all of the order info onto the computer as though her agitation made a difference. Don’t wanna work, don’t come in. Simple solution.This time I sat and had tea and waited and waited and waited for a simple meal. One roll. That’s it. Ppl came in all around me and were greeted seated served and left and I sat and waited for one roll.THEN, when I finally got fed up and asked to cancel my order...I was expected to pay for the small things I had while I waited. Worst customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. Not only will I not be back, but I’ll be making sure the entire office I work at knows how substandard this place is.

Been going here since I was a kid, just now making a current review for 2017. Staff is attentive and very friendly. Rolls seem the same from what I can remember - which in my case is good. I dont see where you can get cheaper prices for this quality of food which imo is fair. Good overall 4/5

They still dont have dine in service so we ended up eating our food at the tables in between Peets and Happy Sashimi. I guess I dont understand how it took them almost 40 minutes to prepare our order of one Chirashi salad and one red dragon roll. To be fair they did mention the wait while we were ordering but I am still confused why they need this much time to prepare as it didnt seem like they were busy.The Sashimi pieces were big but not on the fresh side. The red dragon roll was just ok. They are smaller than what i was used to.

Food is delicious and well priced in a friendly clean environment. Highly recommend the grilled spicy chicken with ginger marinade, the tastiest and most moist chicken breast Ive ever had. Fried Oreo is memorable. Sushi fish has less value than expected.

Service was slow and rude. We had to wait half an hour to 45 minutes to be seated. Their excuse? They had to clean the tables - in which were still messy when we sat down. No joke. the dishes are pricer than expected, and the whole restaurant is in desperate need of a DEEP clean.The tables are sticky and sometimes have left over food, the glasses of water we received had floaters, the floor was completely sticky. PLEASE dont get me started on the bathrooms.. Just think of a gasoline station in the middle of nowhere and you had to squat over the toilet and put down 3-4 seat liners to use it. And to add - there was pee.. Everywhere.. Maybe they should worry more about cleaning than sitting in the back being on their phones.The sushi we ordered quickly fell apart. The avocado in our California Rolls tasted off. My partner ordered a Dragon Roll and hers just looked like someone didnt want to make it and angrily threw it on the plate.The restaurant stunk. The aroma smelt of wet, old dog chow and overcooked eggs. I asked about the smell and the waitress we had told us it had been because they had a leak in the back theyd been working on for about a few days prior. A leak? In the back? I dont think it should have smelt THAT bad in the front.Yes, we DID leave a small tip for our waitress, who seemed to be having a bad day, but after all we went through, Im pretty sure we wont be going back any time soon.

Love this place. Service is nice, friendly, and helpful. I love that they give out free soup and salad at dinner. My favorite rolls are the Romeo and Juliet, Hello Kitty, Lion King, and Crazy Horse.

Nice place to get your sushi fix! On the chilly evening when we dined, we had the Tonkotsu Ramen. Extremely warming and satisfying! Our server made sure that our teacups were topped off throughout the meal.

Ive never been more disappointed by sushi. Spend your hard earned cash elsewhere. Not only did the food have no taste, the portions were unbelievably small. The hand rolls were only slightly larger than what I would expect from a maki roll and the nigiri tasted like someone caught a fish in a retention pond and slapped it on some rice.

This place has been here for over 10 years now and it still has not upgraded its food. The bento box I received made me vomit in their restroom because it was extremely greasy and oily. The crispy salmon skin I got was burnt and didnt have that crisp bite to it that I normally expect when I eat this roll.The only good thing I got there was the ahi poke salad but I think it was because of their house Miso dressing which made it pop out and be flavorful.Their hot green tea was not hot, it was chalky and tasted like some cheap mixture from Costco. I do not recommend this place.It gets two stars for the awesome service.

My family and I absolutely loooove this place! We go there all the time, and whenever we say sushi thats the first place that comes to mind. The Romeo & Juliet, the baked clam appetizer, and the Lion King (with a bit of garlic on top) are some of my favorites and just to die for!!! I only had a bad experience once and sadly the young (yes, theyre all mostly young) waitress didnt even discount anything from us (it was a really bad experience, so bad I dont even want to say exactly what, definitely worthy of a discount). The point is, even after such an experience I still go back ALL the time because the food is so great!

Thought Id give HS one more try but it was just not meant to be :(...waitress served us all bowls of wilted salad and when I brought to her attention she apologized but then proceeded to leave on table..I ended up placing bowls on table next to us. The maki and sushi rolls ordered were also subpar, small and thrown together. Very sad experience...this place used to be very good.

This is the only Japanese restaurant where both my kids LOVE their udon (plain udon with tofu cubes, no green onions). This is actually the only udon and broth they will eat from any Japanese restaurant (and we’ve been to a lot!). Their bento box is always delicious and the sushi is fresh. We love their Lion King, spider and dragon rolls, but we’ve never had a bad sushi order. The tempura batter is nice and flaky. I especially like their salmon teriyaki donburi, happy style. This is our go-to Japanese restaurant, and so thankful they’re doing take out during shelter in place!
