Harney Oceanside & Lounge in Oceanside

We though we would go out and have some fancy sushi this fine Sunday night. I personally have not eaten sushi before that wasnt cooked in some way, but tonight we got three dishes and all were excellent. We started with an appetizer of monkey brains, followed by two rolls, the Chuck Norris and the James Bomb. Everything was great, but I especially liked the James Bomb, a roll with scallops. I also had a tasty espresso martini. Yumm!

Quick night out. Service was fast. So you can get in or out quick or stay and enjoy. We got in fast on a Friday night. Cool! If I’m back in Oceanside and feeling sushi, I’ll be back. Enjoy! This place is a safe sushi bet.

My favorite sushi to date- Harney is the place to be at. The unique flavors in their specialty rolls are heavenly, but my favorite part was the texture. Harney is the only place I’ve ever had a roll that could be bitten- yes bitten. The consistency of the rice and seaweed/rice paper wrap was SO SOFT you could actually take bites of each piece. No tearing, no chewing. Their specialty rolls are so good, you can leave the soy sauce and wasabi at home. I went two nights in a row and tried four different rolls, two entrees, two apps and two specialty drinks. The sophisticated lounge atmosphere with the pops of vibrant colors, really complimented the ocean breeze and bustling cityscape outside- Ultimately making for a romantic night near the beach. You need to check out Harney!

My family and I came to celebrate my birthday. And it was absolutely delicious. Everything was on point, and the service was exceptional. And id like to add that the food came out very quickly. Atmosphere added a great touch to our dining experience.

My wife and I absolutely love this place. We stumbled upon it by accident, and every dish that came out was wrong but unbelievably flavorful and perfectly presented. We had a big laugh with the waitress who was wonderful also. We’ve been back at least two or three times and they have been spot on every time. They’ve got artisan level Nigiri and a great selection of hot plates from the kitchen. When we’re in Southern California, we will make the drive down to Harney because it’s worth it.

Harney was fabulous! I have never been one to eat sushi. But, tonight, I was brave. I ate it and loved it! I let the server choose for me because I had no idea what to pick. She çhose the Sea Spider, and it was delicious! I loved the burst of lemon that came through in several bites. The seared Seabass was yum! The presentation was impressive to me, being a newbie to sushi.I was also able to try the Sassy Salmon with pickled onions. The texture of the salmon was very good. Not mushy or even fishy. Just perfect.The warm sake complimented the meal very nicely.My only critique is that the mushrooms in the miso were not very soft. I felt that perhaps they were dried mushrooms that had not been properly hydrated before the soup was served. That being said, the broth itself was delicious, and I just waited a bit before finishing it and let the mushroooms soften a bit. Its still an A+ for flavor overall.The service was very good. Everyone was very polite, helpful, and informative.The atmosphere was simple yet inviting.I enjoyed dinner very much and will be back to try something different as well as be more adventurous and seek out more sushi in other places. Prompt attentive service from our waiter Tony. Fantastically fresh sushi & sashimi, it all tastes great. Excellent beer on draft. The ambiance or atmosphere was just right. I highly recommend.

Great selection of vegetarian/vegan menu. The vegan rainbow roll was delightful and unique with fruit flavors on top. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a great dining experience. Recommended for anyone interested in vegetarian/vegan sushi.

This place is great and has a very good happy hour specials between 5-6pm, to include rolls, appetizers and drinks under $10. We loved the shishito peppers and the baked salmon roll was personally my favorite. They also offer rolls with seared salmon. The service here is very friendly as well. I highly recommend trying this place out.
