This place was decorated for Christmas already, and it looked like a coffee shop straight out of a Hallmark movie. It was beautiful! Very hipster heavy, but the staff was really nice and if its busy you will have a hard time finding a place to sit, if you dont take it to go. The parties were good, and my mocha was ok, but my bfs iced Spanish latte was really good! I Definitely recommend that one if you have a sweeter palate, as it was sweeter than my mocha.

This place takes their coffee very seriously.They have a station where they separate their coffee beans as you walk in. The barista takes her time to make a decorative flower with froth on your coffee. Ive been there twice, and there is always a line. They have nice pastries if you show up early enough. I had an almond croissant, but I felt like it didnt have any almond paste. However, I did enjoy their coffee.

This should be the bar for coffee shops. Pastries are well worth the cost. Texture and taste of lattes is the best I ever had with consistent results every-time. Spanish Latte is my favorite go to sweet drink. Great kids making drinks and they often time go above and beyond.

This is not a cheap cup of coffee but its a delicious one.I got a chocolate croissant (9/10) and an almond milk latte (10/10)This isn’t somewhere I would meet up with friends and stay. This is a place I would grab coffee and treat to walk around the other shops with.The interior is very cute and definitely photo worthy

One of our favorite coffee shops in the Newport Beach marina. They have quite few healthy snacks like croissants, cookies, muffins etc. they recently added chai tea made Indian style. Hey have patio seating too.

I have been coming to Herst for many years and am always delighted to sit and sip my matcha + nibble on my chocolate croissant. The atmosphere is beautiful with a mixture of lively and quiet corners, and every inch of the space is filled with as much attention to detail as possible. It’s the best place for sitting and reading, catching up with friends, or working remotely.

It is not very common to run into espresso bars that operate Slayer machines.We ordered flat whites, and the quality was amazing.Next time I will order straight shotsThey have some nice snacks. Choco date rolls were very good, not too sweet and tasteful.The location is very good for dine in or to grab your drink and roam along Lido area.

The best coffee you can get in Newport Beach period.For those who appreciate the taste of quality coffee, this place offers a plethora of choices including milk alternatives like almond milk, oat-milk & alternative sweeteners like cinnamon, stevia etc. The ambience is chic & happening & the staff are friendly. The coffee is well-roasted & tastes amazing. I have visited multiple times & have ordered cappuccino, Spanish Latte, Americano, cold brew. The only negative is that the many traditional coffee styles like filter coffee, Vietnamese coffee are missing but this is a minor critique from a coffee aficionado.

I wanted to liked this place, it was somewhere new and I just wanted a nice cup of coffee. I asked which one they recommended that wasn’t too sweet and they told me the vanilla latte. I ended up getting it and it was overly sweet and when I asked if it could be remade without being so sweet, they said they can’t remake it but can add more milk in it. I did that and still wasn’t impressed. A latte costs so much these days that when I get a cup of a coffee I want to be able to enjoy it and I was unimpressed with the taste of this coffee. I’ve tried a lot of different coffee shops in my life and know what a good coffee tastes like. I would much rather stick with places I enjoy especially since one of my favorite places was right down the street, blue bottle coffee. If the coffee truly is good, they should of just remade the coffee without vanilla and maybe just maybe I would of enjoyed the coffee. This is my two star review.

I stopped by while walking around Newport Beach for a bite and the pastries here are amazing! I got a ricotta cranberry croissant, cinnamon knot, and orange cranberry scone. Of the three the scone was my favorite, it had crunchy sugar on top and the orange flavor was so bright. Im taking off a star because my sister said the iced latte was a bit thin and watery. But Ill definitely be back to try more pastries. Its a surprisingly big space with seating inside and out, it was hopping when I went on a Saturday morning. Theres street parking right out front, its in a little shopping strip so be conscious of pedestrians if youre driving.

I ordered mocha and latte. I said hot and add extra mocha! However coffee which means milk wasn’t hot, they kinda steamed fast and it was cold, in addition to that, mocha taste wasn’t good, it was like little bit creamy chocolate. I don’t recommend the coffee..

Wanted to like this place more but I’ll explain the 2 vs 5Pros: Coffee and vibes were 5/5Cons: Parking was atrocious unless you want to pay a ton.Was not given ceramic for my cortado. Disappointing.They no longer offer the vac pot coffee and haven’t been trained how to use it.Owner was not very friendly to speak with. Almost like he was beneath talking to you. There were guys there putting together chairs that he was dealing with I think, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, but hopefully on a good day he can not seem distracted when a patron of his shop stops to comment on how nice the place is.If there weren’t so many other shops that were vibes, good coffee and great staff I would prob try again but probably won’t have the opportunity.

This is a nice local find. Coffee is roasted onsite, so super fresh. I had a Cortado with oat milk. The espresso was noticeably bright and fruity, which is a welcome relief from the overly dark and smoky approach with most roasters. Grab a cup and take a peaceful morning walk along the harbor! The service staff is attentive and efficient.

I’m a resident at the Lido Island and I live here more than 10 years . I remember where Marina Village just built with all cute shops and restaurants . We were all very excited about and we still do but unfortunately lately, it’s became so UNSAFE place, because of a people from Middle East males occupied coffee shop “ Herst Coffee Roasters” sitting outside, taking all spaces including sidewalk, people can’t go thru. Usually it is around 7-12 males . They are in Marina village shopping area everyday and they always siting by Herst coffee shop ALWAYS ! - from morning till night. . They don’t have any coffees on the table or any food ( I never see they have anything purchased from any shops ), they just sit outside and talking loudly on their own language. I was walking Thursday to the Marina Village when I try to get to the Herst coffee shop, one of middle eastern male from big group pushed me. I was terrified, I had 5 month baby in stroller and dog with me. I was so shocked and was so uncomfortable, his friends laughed loudly what he did! I felt I was walking in third world countries!!! Middle East male did not apologized or say anything he just look at me and continue walking his way, like it is normal to do so.I change quick my mind to buy anything from this coffee shop because of those males I felt I been watched from top to toes, so horrible feeling…I heard some complains from my neighbors about this situation but nobody do anything. I wondering if management of the coffee shop and Marina village with security just don’t want to deal with them .Please be safe with those people and hopefully is community we can do something about as well as managment of the coffee shop because I will not come back to purchasing anything from Herst coffee if those males sitting there again.

Used to go everyday for years now but now it has become an unwelcoming environment. As soon as i get to the area i feel judged and unwelcome. One of the employees, Megan was rude when approaching me and i had done nothing wrong. Not the way the customers should be treated. Now when i suggest Herst to my friends no one wants to go there.

Worst coffee shop ever. It took me too long to place and order for a simple iced tea. I was charged $4.50 for this thing and, they do not validate parking. Once I heard the we dont validate I should have left. Anyways, order was placed and, the barista filled the tea up only 1/2 way in the cup?! When I called it out she said we do everything by weight. Ive never heard of that excuse. Avoid at all costs. I will never go there again.

Currently transitioning name to HERST. Location is incredible and vibe is super inviting. Right on the corner. Locally roasting in house. Baristas are super friendly and knowledgeable. Pastries were fantastic. Latte and Americano were on point. Go out of your way to stop here. Grab a coffee to sit and then another to go for a walk... the local area is beautiful and right by the water.

The location is excellent. And I have been here a dozen times. This is my first review. The lines are confusing and everyone is standing randomly around. I ordered a mocha,. A very regular and easy drink to make. However it was horrible, and served barely warm. It made me appreciate my nesspreso machine with a Peets pod. After leaving a tip and leaving disappointed I will search for a better location. I gave it 3 stars based on prior visits. As a local guide with over 5 million views I like a true rating system. When I am in the area, I often come by for a latte and sit for a while to people watch and journal. The space is very inviting and well done, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the coffee is good.As a full disclaimer, I did reduce by one star only because the drinks are slightly inconsistent on each visit - sometimes it is a bit overly milky, and other times, its stronger on the coffee. I personally prefer it to be slightly stronger where I can still taste the coffee - but that is just me.Outside of that, I would still recommend this coffee shop to anyone, and I would be coming back myself the next time Im in town.

I really dig this spot. As far as specialty coffee is concerned, its slim pickings in Newport Beach. Honor is a great addition to the scene and really serves some great espresso. The menu is simple, but the shop is so small and intimate, you can often engage directly with the barista and dial in your preferences. The espresso I tried was a blend of java, Ethiopian and central American beans. I have to admit it was one of the most balanced espressos I have tried. Their espresso machine is the Lamborghini of beasts (Slayer is the maker). Ive never tried their baked goods, but they always look good.Felipe is a cool dude behind the bar. Super nice guy, he actually invited me back behind the bar to watch the shots being pulled and told me a little bit about the machine. Would recommend this spot to anyone.

It is an excellent coffee shop. The coffee is roasted in the store, and the beans can be purchased for home consumption. The staff is very friendly. They tend to have a line on the weekends, and the wait time can take up to 15 minutes. They have amazing Chai, made in store. Their coffee is delicious and you do pay a premium for the location. It does not serve Starbucks style coffee, such as Fraps, it is mostly espresso based, with drip coffee available. They also have pastry style goods for sale. Great place when walking around Lido.

Solid spot for coffee and a snack in Lido Village. They roast their beans and we had a nice Ethiopian single origin drip the day we were there. Espresso drinks were also solid if not spectacular (the cappuccino needed a bit more body in my opinion). Really cute interior too. Don’t miss the sweet treats (the homemade pop tart was real good)!Update: OMG the chai is ridiculous here. They make it from scratch so it’s not always available but when it is definitely don’t miss it.

I used to be a huge fan of this coffee shop and frequently would visit but not after today. I purchased coffee then went on a walk around the block, I came back to sit at one of their outdoor tables and overheard what I believe was the owner talking to others about how I was sitting at the tables without making a purchase. He then forced one of his employees to come over and try to take an order from me. Truly unfortunate when an owner is more concerned with getting a $5 sale than creating a positive experience for their customers. Will never be returning.

Cool place to visit. It’s located right in a small enclave of shopping area in the Lidos near Balboa Island. Definitely good vibes for having coffee. The coffees are very tasty and the pastries are awesome. If they can speed up the coffee making process, it would be perfect. We waited 15 minutes just for a regular cup of coffee. Not a lot of parking spaces inside the shopping area but plenty on the street.

What makes this foofoo coffee shop stand out is its pretty location. I enjoyed getting there early, on a weekday morning, window shopping and walking the nearby docks with my cold brew. The coffee was not particularly outstanding among the coffee houses Ive frequented, but it was decent and I would get it again. The pastry offerings looked very tempting and above average. If you want to spend a leisurely hour sipping your coffee, this is a good spot.

This was my first visit to Hearst Coffee Roasters and it did not disappoint. My husband got the brewed coffee which had good flavor over other local coffee. I got the mocha with an extra shot of espresso. Perfectly blended the flavors, not watery, and hands down the best mocha Ive had in Newport. The reason it was so good was it wasnt all sugary and you could really taste the rich chocolatey flavor. This is definitely our new coffee spot.

Do not go to this place if you are a person of color or from any minority culture. My wife and I have been coming here for several months and have enjoyed the coffee. Today we came in (with a bag of pastries from Rye Goods down the street which is amazing and everyone should try!), and the line was long, so we decided to help with the crowd situation and place our order online. We placed the order and sat down with our pastries as we were waiting for our coffee. Immediately we overheard a middle aged Caucasian male in a black t-shirt (he appeared to be the manager or owner) speak loudly to his staff about what we are doing there. Then a few minutes later he came up to us, in an extremely rude and threatening tone, if we were going to order coffee. When I told him that we were waiting for our order, he answered back, asking for my name so he could verify my order. My wife and I were completely shocked. It was just blatant discrimination and targeted behavior towards us. We will never be going back there again, and strongly recommend a boycott.

Exceptional!! This is the best cappuccino Ive ever had and continue to enjoy every Saturday morning and sometimes twice on Saturdays. They are so much richer, more flavorful, creamy and delicious. Youll never want to go anywhere else ever again. I live in Irvine, and it is worth the 20 minute drive.

There is a clear difference between a latte and a cappuccino. Please learn it. They both look, feel and taste the same here.Pastries are delicious but employees don’t wear a mask so unmasked and open, uncovered food is not a good combo.

Herst Coffee Roasters was recommended by family during a recent visit from NJ.I ordered a simple -regular coffee with milk. Within one sip, I noticed a sour taste and immediately brought it back to the counter for a replacement.Much to my surprise, one of the staff advised me that they are not permitted to replace the coffee & I can PURCHASE another cup.I insisted that the milk didnt taste right and I just wanted a replacement.Again, the same story, you can purchase another cup-its not our company policy to replace.Apparently the staff requires training on customer service and if this is company policy- no thanks.Ive been treated better at Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Mcdonalds- the list goes on!

Really enjoyed it here. It’s a really cute little coffee shop, a little hard to find when driving since it’s down a small street but there’s a parking lot and street parking just across the street. Inside the decor is pretty minimalist. They have one large table and a couple of small tables for two. It was relatively empty with customers coming in and out from time to time.I was studying there for a few hours with friends and it was a pretty good study space, with the volume being pretty low for most of the time. They don’t have WiFi but they should have it soon.As for the coffee, I got the vanilla latte and I really liked it. It’s on the sweeter side which I enjoyed.Overall, I’d definitely come back, both to study or just for a coffee date with friends.

After reading the other positive reviews, I was pretty disappointed with my experience. It took far too long to take my order - only two people were working - and my resulting drink was a letdown.More specifically, my Gibraltar was over-extracted and the milk foamy enough to top a traditional cappuccino. I was really hoping to get at least a pretty good shot from their Slayer (espresso machine) but Im not sure its worth another visit to try again.

I’m just now enjoying a really terrific cortado from my first visit to Herst. I also got a latte for my Dad who tells me it’s also excellent. Proprietors appear to be serious coffee people who roast their own on premises. The roasting style of their espresso (at least, the beans they were pulling shots with today) is a bit lighter and brighter than chains such as Peet’s; so it’s much more like the espresso I’ve had on trips to Spain, Italy and the better shops in the UK. I like the darker espresso, too, but this was really great. Coffee junkie that I am, I usually like to have my coffee in a ceramic cup at the shop, but due to COVID restrictions, the shop didn’t have inside seating, just outside. But it’s located in Lido Village on a nice little brick-paved street, so it’s a pretty nice spot to take a coffee break. I saw they had a selection of pastries that looked good, but didn’t try any yet ... just mentioning in case you’re wondering. It’s a nice looking shop, understated, natural woods, so once indoor seating returns, it’ll be nice to sit inside.

Great environment, lots of chairs and plugs. Pourover was amazing, also had a vegan cinnamon roll from Cafe Gratitude. They have siphon and Japanese cold drip machines coming soon, cant wait to go back and try those. The Lido area is going through a really cool remodel, so it will probably be very busy soon. I recommend parking out on the metered street nearby, its limited to 2hr, but thats plenty.
