We arrived last night and had dinner here. It was so good we went back tonight again. Huge menu selection and the servings are really large! Everyone was so nice and pleasant. We will be eating there alot while we are in town. Cant wait to try the blackberry cobbler because they were out. My new favorite place. Not to mention the great view of Mt Shasta!

A retro blast from the past. Good food, lots of hot coffee refills, and friendly and prompt service. It’s a time tested formula and it works here. The hungry man’s breakfast was too much for one person so we split it. Watch out for the California bacon tax, though.

Miss Bonnie 💗You are absolutely delightful!!! This was my 2nd time here, and I’ve enjoyed it both times. However, you are so sweet & you truly add to the experience. And, goodness gracious, you can seriously haul tail and handle a crowd. Thank you for helping me get my son to eat by splitting that B.L.A.S.T. for us. GREAT surprise! As a foodie I regretted only being able to eat one meal (well, half). Nestled in a classic looking motel, pot roast better than grandmas. Throw in a couple of nice wines and homemade cobbler, and I’m already planning my next trip so I can pass thru Weed and eat at this little cafe again. Plenty of room to park my truck and horse trailer across the street. If you have a choice, choose Hi-Lo Cafe! You will be very glad you did.

I understand local places need to charge more, but this wasn’t worth it. It was awful in every way. I got chicken fried steak (although the menu said i had a choice of chicken or steak, but was given the steak despite asking for chicken). It was average at best. The meal was supposed to come with “homemade biscuits”, but I was not given that option instead asked if I wanted white toast, wheat toast, or English muffin. I got toast, which was burnt all the way through. Went in the garbage. I also paid almost $7 for a slice of pie which was the smallest slice of pie I’ve ever received in a restaurant. Then despite not being busy I waited forever for a check so I finally could just leave. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time or money here, to be perfectly honest…

The service was very good! Very pleasant. I had a patty melt for dinner which was borderline terrible. Overcooked, dry, flavorless and the patty barely covered half of the rye bread. We did go back the next day and we got a very decent breakfast! Nice pancakes, good eggs and sausage, very happy. So I’m torn.

Youd be better off hitting up one of the other restaurants in town. The owner is spacey, cringey, and gives off strange vibes. She didnt even ask if we wanted anything to drink. The food was average, nothing special, and they were missing many staples that youd think would be in every sit-down restaurant. Reviews are rare for me, but this was definitely an odd experience. Try the Asian BBQ down the street instead.

Highly recommended by my parents we had to try Hi-Lo on our stay in the area. The atmosphere was nostalgic but the restaurant could definitely use a bit of updating. Staff was very nice.Food was good but not exceptional. The spicy sausage patty they make that my parents absolutely love was good but a bit salty for my taste. I loved their shakes, it was very good and they give you the cylinder with your shake which is very rare now, big kudos for that!! My wife got eggs and sweet potato fries. She really enjoyed the sweet potato fries especially.

Bonnie made this experience so wonderful and memorable!!! She was the waitress, busybody, cashier, seated everyone, took calls and ensured your order was correct. We have eaten there many times and the food has been over the top good. The last time we went it wasnt!!! I think they must have changed the cooking staff. I ordered a hot turkey sandwich. The piece of turkey was a thick slab of processed meat..spam like. It had a very small amount of gravy on it and none on the ample white bread underneath. Then my mashed potatoes were cold and the gravy was hot. Quite a contrast. The vegetables were very over heated and mushy. My daughter ordered a sandwich and not too sure what it was. It was grilled with cheese on the outside. Weird!!! It had cooked fresh tomatoes on the inside. Very unappealing. We also ordered 2 steaks and they were done very nice. Thanks for that. Our waitress was very pleasant. I never complain about restaurant food or have it fixed. Im always worried about retaliation from the cook upon receiving new food. I did see the cook, I have seen him running a karaoke show before. Our meal, with a tip was $120. Im just not ready to take a chance on going there again. It was a huge let down and a terrible waste of money.

Every time I travel through this town I go here and it’s normally pretty good. Though the last few times I’ve noticed things have changed. I think the waitresses and kitchen staff were having a rough night. I noticed it was a poorly managed kitchen, communication wasn’t good and wires got crossed. They were so flustered they didn’t even greet us for 20 minutes. Then after another 20 minutes of just sitting there and finally requesting service, we ordered and right after we ordered they had to give the chefs a break for 40 minutes. Luckily they put our food in but they kept making other people wait. I watched multiple people leave. When we finally got our food the meat was green and we were scarred to eat it. The food wasn’t very good.I think this place would be great if they had better management but it’s clear their staff needs proper training as no one seems to know who’s job is who’s in there and they don’t seem to have a system. I know the restaurant life can be hard but I think it would be a shame if this restaurant lost its reputation due to the poor management. Hopefully they get their groove back.

Angels own and work here!! We were supposed to just be passing through, but a big storm decided we would stay. I had mapped the only open restaurant closest and we arrived to what felt like heaven glowing from within. The storm was intense, but we entered and even though close to closing we were welcomed in and cared for. We were even more blessed to find out the food is delicious, the restaurant clean, and the staff reflects heart and pride. Even luckier for us, there is a motel associated with the restaurant that shares the parking lot and they had 2 rooms left! We got one. The next morning we woke to a winter wonderland of around a foot of snow..but to our surprise the restaurant was open and rocking! Part of the staff walked to work in horrid conditions to ensure the town was fed! Seriously, ANGELS!! The had smiles on their faces and took on wave after wave of customers pouring in with no place to go. (Including the staff from another local restaurant that closed for the day, even though 3 of them made it to work) Hats off to these people! We will tell everyone and go out of our way to go back again! Thank you!

After ordering a series of mistakes occurred which would have normally been resolved by acknowledging the issue, correcting the mistake and giving a sincere apology. None of those things happened, instead the table next to us that ordered awhile after we did, got our food and said nothing. After waiting and finally asking where our food was we were responded with I dont know, Ill check. After more time passed and once again asking where our food was, the response was they were working on it. The food was finally brought out, and surprise, it wasnt what we ordered. It was what the table next to us ordered. At this point Im pissed but stay in control. The waitress apologized repeatedly to the table next to us about the problem and their bill was adjusted with another apology.Us???? Nothing. After another 10 minutes I decided that was enough, got up and paid for the beers we were served.At this I told the waitress she had really screwed up in pretty much every way, instead of a real apology she became defensive and belligerent. I wasnt going to complain but after being told twice to go complain to the office, well thats what I did.No apology, no nothing.Even after sending a follow-up email, nothing.One of the worst restaurant experiences in my life and I havent had many thankfully!

We ended up eating at this place because there werent many other options nearby, besides fast food. It was a typical American diner, but it wasnt very clean. Flies were buzzing around, and the utensils didnt look properly washed. Our server was nice, but they were training someone, and their conversation was so loud that we could hear every word. I decided to order pancakes, but they turned out to be really dry and more like bread. On top of that, they charged an extra $2 for anything with bacon, supposedly because of a law that the staff couldnt really explain. We definitely should have waited another 30 minutes to find a better place to eat.

Theres no place like the Hi-Lo Cafe in Weed, California to make you feel right at home no matter what day it is, what the weather is, and what the reason is you may find yourself eating there! And thats simply because everyone at the Hi-Lo Cafe gives excellent customer service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Busy, yes! But service does not suffer because customers are there eating. This place has a kitchen full of cooks that definitely know how to keep up with the demand of the day. I love their breakfast menu; I love their lunch menu; and yes I love their dinner menu! The homemade pie rack!!!! The milkshakes from scratch!!! The all-the-time fresh brewed coffee!No matter what you order, you wont be disappointed! Everything tastes wonderful. And I should know. Ive been stopping in at the Hi-Lo Cafe for nearly 50 years! The only way anything could make it be a bonus would be to stay at the Hi-Lo Motel which is directly next door. No, its not fancy; but its clean, economical, and very friendly! Once youve had your meal, just go down the street a block and take in the beautiful looming Mt Shasta. Its been months, theyre open for breakfast and lunch.Thought Id give theyre $6.99 breakfast special a try. Oops! Special stops at 11 so ordered their Taco salad.I got their before the rush, still took 40 min. to bring out. It was tasty but I was a bit frustrated.Ill think twice about returning.Bean eating hear for a couple of decades, great fuud for the area. The Prime rib server Fri & Sat. is excellent.UPDATE: I stopped in the other day. I had Chicken Fried steak Everything was cooked to perfection. We stopped here on a Saturday morning, really didnt know what to expect. The cafe was not busy, it was clean and inviting. The staff is very friendly and attentive, checking in with us and topping off coffee, water and seeing how we were doing. I had an eggs Benedict and my bride had a biscuit with sausage, egg and gravy. They were great. They came with potatoes, we chose home fries that had garlic, parsely and butter. We are all we could an brought the rest home. If you are passing through Weed on your way up or down 97 or 5, check it out. Its good.

We went here based on the rating on Google map. But, bad service and food! We ordered food and waited for over an hour without any updates. We asked for the status several times but the waitress always said it is going to be ready in a few minutes. At the end, when she is putting the food on our table, she told one of us that her food will not be ready because they ran out of the chicken wings. What is going on with the kitchen and her? Why did she tell us immediately after we placed the order but after over an hour and other foods were ready. All other food were bad taste. Do not go here for anything! Regret that we left her tips. By the way, their tables are kind of greasy and dirty, too.

If you don’t have someplace to refrigerate and reheat your leftovers you might want to split something. This is our second time eating here. We’ll definitely be coming back. We started going there in early 2000 when ever we headed to WA food was fabulous best mushroom omelet I ever had best breakfast hands down, pancakes, buscuits, best we had anywhere. The service is terrible. Servers need to learn how to handle stress and comunicatiom with the client. We were really bad treated by a frustrated server. I work myself in tge industry, I know is hard but the clients have not the fault. We left after 30 minutes waiting for the server to bring plates for the salad bar and for her take out orders. Once she bring it she forgot the forks so we need to wait longer bcs her people clients in the outside area wants coffe. The best thing? We ended eating just a cross of the street in Elis Cafe and I was absolutely delish and good relax ambience, really nice coffee.

Your one stop shop for Weed, CA. Good food, homemade desserts, menus with fun facts about the town, and souvenirs. Its conveniently next to the famous Weed sign and two gas stations. The servers were very friendly. Its adorable how proud they are of their imported orange juicer. The sweet potato fries came with honey mustard dip and it was delicious.

I was pretty excited to try this place after reading some great reviews I knew it was a diner but lots of reviews mentioned the food was great and above average. Let me start by saying the staff was great! The waitress said she was down a cook and waitress but despite that the staff was friendly and outgoing. The food however was so so. The top of the menu said they serve large portions and breakfast served with potatoes or hash browns. I really wanted potatoes so that was great. I ordered pancakes and asked if it came with potatoes and she said no. OK..... Well maybe the top of the menu should specify what breakfast comes with potatoes. The hash browns were pale and slightly undercooked. The pancakes were OK but nothing special. Overall Id say the food was slightly subpar than IHOP or Dennys. This absolutely could be because of staff shortages but still it was a let down of a visit.

Waited 20+ minutes for any service, then made excuses that they were a server down. Who cares, just get me a drink and then Ill understand the extra time needed. Server didnt understand the request to not have eggs in breakfast burrito. Just maked the burrito with no eggs. Burrito came with no eggs and no potatoes. The Hi-Lo Cafe is much like a Black Bear diner, but it may be more correct to say that Black Bear is like the Hi-Lo diner. Either way, they both come from the same family with the same food philosophy: big portions of good food in a family-friendly atmosphere.I had read several reviews suggesting the chicken fried steak and I was not disappointed, it was very good - better than what I have had at Black Bear. In fact, if your reference point is a Black Bear Diner, everything my group ate was about 25% better, though the portions were about 15% smaller than Black Bear, which means they are still huge.If you find yourself passing through Weed and want a lot of good food for a reasonable price, you could do far worse than the Hi-Lo Cafe.One last thing: if youre looking for a suggestion for something other than the chicken fried steak, the Taco Salad was also excellent.

Horrible service. We waited 15 minutes to be seated even though there were many empty tables. Then after ordering, we waited an additional 40 minutes for our breakfast to arrive. I hadnt been to the Hi-Lo Cafe since my last trip North pre-pandemic. Was glad to see they were still there and open and couldnt wait for the fried chicken dinner that I remember gett8 g a few times in the past. I was solo but when told to sit anywhere I chose a booth. A family were right behind me and chose the booth next to mine. A waitress went to their table first. I figured she didnt see me and as the family sat down right after I did, figured the waitstaff person just didnt notice the customer seating order. She walked by my table saying nothing, then got wates for the family. Nothing for me, not even a fake smile or be right with you. Sat a few minutes longer watching this wait person rushing back and forth, without looking my way. For a brief moment thought of leaving, but had been looking so forward to the fried chicken. Decided to move to the counter to be more visible and hopefully get the other wait person who greeted my as I entered. After a few more minutes that waitperson stopped in front of me with her pad to take my order. I asked for the fried chicken dinner. She paused, looked at me and said chicken fried chicken. I repeated chicken fried chicken?, asking is that what the fried chicken dinner is called. She said yes. I occupied my waiting by reading the news on my phone. It started to feel like a long wait. I thought, maybe I can make small talk with that wait person, hmmm, what to talk about... Ill compliment her hair color. I really nice shade of red. I didnt get the chance though as she was busy rushing back and forth and breifly talking with a couple of other customers and occasionally the other wait staff. Never looked my way. Finally picked up the water pitcher and started over (I thought, nows my chance), but she walked past me and over to the man sitting 2 stood away from me, refilled his water made a little small talk, turned back around and walked past me and my water cup. Again, I gave her the benefit of the doubt, and rationalized that she didnt refill my water because it still had 1/3 cup of water left. I looked at the time, whoa, was it really 40 minutes since I ordered? I looked around at the now fairly full Cafe. No one had food, not even the table of 5 that had been seated when I walked in. Contemplated asking for m6 food to go, but decided against ranking the boat. Another 10-15 minutes later a plate came out. She came towards me, I shook my head at the breaded chicken breast with gravy saying, thats not mine. It isnt? She said. Me - No She looks at me incredulosly. Me- hmm is that the chicken fried chicken? Her- Yes, its the chicken fried chicken. Me- oh, then it is mine. Her- I thought so. So looks like they may be short on a cook or 2 in the kitchen and the service from some of their wait staff leaves much to be desired. The breaded chicken breast and mashed potatoes aka Chicken Fried Chicken was good though not at all the 3 piece fried chicken dinner I had stopped and waited for. The pastry cabinet at the register was empty, no giant cookies to take along for the long drive, no peanut butter pie to give me a sugar rush. I loved the Hi-Lo Cafe and miss what once was. Ill give it a other chance though and stop there again next road trip that way. I will order something different and may e make the compliment to the waitperson at the very beginning in hopes of better service. Was so ready to eat and leave that I forgot to take pictures. Next time.

I had to find a safe place to stay for a few hours waiting for a ride due to a several reasons. The waitresses said it was a safe place to breakdown and I explained the whole reason I was there and they said they understood and kept me safe. Helped me warm up. Told me they would warm up my leftover lunch again later if I felt like eating again. This is the third time Ive stopped here while on a raodtrip. The seating can be a little bit of a wait because the place is small and its usually one server running around like a busy bee, but its worth the wait. Love the fresh squeezed orange juice as well as their home fries and hashbrowns. This time time I got the California omelet (avocados, mushrooms, and jack cheese) with hashbrowns and wheat toast. The only drawbacks were that on a Sunday (around 2pm), the cafe was extremely crowded. Because of this, service was very slow. I would go during the week if you can! Passing by weed and we found this place. The restaurant is small but it was busy. For lunch I ordered a steak Sandwich and my friend a sourdough burger and we each had a half of each. Both foods were amazing and fresh. The garlic fries.was very good as well. At the end I had a banana cream pie and my friend a very berry pie and again both were fresh and delicious. The breakfast my son and I ordered was great. the potato portion could have been a little bit bigger but the fact that I got 4 hardy pieces of Great bacon for only .79¢ more than the same breakfast with out bacon made up for it. My wifes club was great however the fries were cool. But the waitress made up for that with fresh fries that feed the whole table and their fries were delicious. To me its all the staff handles it in deals with it they made it right and tremendous way.. We came from Portland Oregon and were just stopping through to have dinner on our road trip. I ordered an omelette with light onion and light ham, hash browns with a English muffin. When we finally got served with which seemed like an eternity. I did not get what I ordered. I asked Bonnie to take it back because it was wrong. She wanted to question me about it. When then she realized that I was right. Received potatoes, lots of onions and ham. Un-toasted English muffin. So then it took another half hour for mine to come back. My boyfriend was just about done with his meal when I got mine finally. Note, I’m type 2 diabetic therefore; I was being extremely patient given that my blood sugar was really low that morning. When I started eating I noticed that there was so much onions and ham in it I didn’t know what to think! Again my English muffin wasn’t toasted either. Bonnie said that “apparently the cook didn’t read what she wrote “ in my opinion he mustn’t have read anything on the order. Cause basically I received the same order just swapping out the style of potatoes. Not sure if we’ll come back to this diner. Just seems to be a hit or miss. I think 2 stars maybe 1 to many but I’ll give it anyway. Not sure where to start but so many things were wrong on so many levels. Should’ve known better from the moment we walked in when the waitress was ranting to the other waitress about tables walking out, we kept being told they would be right with us then finally the waitress told us that they can’t seat any more people because they had a big table in the back that was overwhelming them and to come back in 20 minutes to check in. Finally the waitress took our order. I ordered a Bloody Mary but was told that there were no Bloody Mary’s only Mamosa‘s even though there’s a huge sign out in front that says now serving cocktails not to mention there website and menu say the same thing. Disappointing! Also the waitress’s were badmouthing the chefs which was extremely unprofessional and rude. Our food finally came out about an hour after arriving. I had ordered a All American Melt sandwich and the waitress that brought it to me told me to let her know if there was anything wrong with it because she had to slap it together real quick herself. Well that’s not what I wanted to hear after all it is a $14 sandwich, come on! Well slapped together it was, no love at all put into it and can’t call it a melt if there’s no cheese melting out the sides. It was a sad sandwich! After we were finishing up our meals we see the “big” table leaving from the back which was a total of 6 people- seriously! This place needs Gordon Ramsay to shut it down because it is a real kitchen nightmare. The rumor we heard later after passing through this town was that it used to be good but some changes were made as far as ownership and has been going downhill ever since but hopefully they can get it back together!

So bummed. The cafe itself is real sweet/quaint. I was not greeted with a hi or anything. Basically shoved into a booth. The person that took my order seemed cool at first then it kind of went downhill from there. The back staff/kitchen were kind of loud and obnoxious.....you could hear just about everything going on back there. They messed up my sandwich using a different bread than I ordered. Fries werent fully cooked. But then, I paid my bill.....the change I got in return was all large bills. My meal and service were not even worthy of $5.00 but because I was taught long ago that when you get your change back and its all large bills its because that person expects you to leave a large tip because you dont have singles. On top of that my change had coins, those coins were inside the folder so when I opened it they went all over the floor! I was not happy. So yeah, no tip today...sorry not sorry.

I love to give good reviews for Little Gems in small towns and believe me this place is a gem. Our experience tonight was mostly positive we had a good waitress and friendly staff something Ive never encountered at this place before is that our food took exceptionally long to come out and it was not a busy night and my husbands french fries were cold everything else was really good that is why I will give this place a solid four stars. We love this restaurant and will be back many times in the future guaranteed maybe the back of the house needs a pep talk from the owner.

We have been to hi-lo a few times. It is a really great and fresh breakfast. The ham in my omlette was delicious! Our waffle was superb! All the ingredients are fresh and yummy! This is definitely worth a visit. The servers are very friendly and provide prompt and courteous service. Fresh squeezed orange juice also! Give them a try when you are in town. We love it and will definitely be back!

We have been eating here on our travels to and from Oregon for a decade. The place was well kept, the staff helpful and energetic and friendly and the food excellent.Today was a complete disappointment. First, the food. The eggs were fine but they must have changed suppliers for the patty sausage. It was bland and flavorless. That used to be our favorite. My wife ordered sourdough toast, I ordered an english muffin. Instead of butter on them they had covered them with a nasty type of white, greasy marjoram that tasted just plain nasty. Tasted old, sour and stale. Neither of us could eat it. In fact all we could eat were the hash browns and eggs. At least they didnt screw those up.Then I had to use the restroom. The mens restroom looked like it hadnt been cleaned in a week. The toilet had yellow and brown stains in and around it, the sink was filthy and the huge trash bin was overflowing. The toilet was so bad I left it unflushed. I refused to touch the handle. On returning to my seat I called the waitress quiety over and advised her. She obviously didnt care since she didnt seem to tell anyone and no one went to do any cleaning in the next 40 minutes we were there. My wife went to the womens restroom and found it dirty with an overflowing trash. There simply is no excuse these days for unsanitary conditions in a restaurant restroom.The staff. It was plain that there was a general lack of enthusiasm and lazy attitude by all but the waitresses. People just wandered around with sour looks on their face as if they would rather be somewhere else. Whatever happened to the energetic and friendly staff that used to be there.This is really a terrible shame. It used to be our go-to place to eat on the road but this last experience there means we will never go back. If I were exaggerating about the above I would be more than glad to admit it. But, Im not. Id rather eat fast food or go to Subway than ever eat there again.

I didnt even eat there for two reasons. It smelled really bad, like a porta potty and burnt grease. Second, the 2 lazy millennials with the fake big eyelashes (so you know who Im talking about) They offered me a sitting area they made very obvious that they didnt want me to sit in. After calling the restaurant several times to place an order with no answer, we decided to drop in. We arrived at the restaurant at the end of a lunch rush and ordered takeout (as we were in a hurry to get back on the road toward Portland). We ordered two burgers and were quoted 30 minutes, which we agreed would be fine. We waited the full half hour with the server who took our order assuring us repeatedly that it’d be right out, though we never even asked about it. It wasn’t until 45 minutes after we’d ordered that the server tossed the food on the bar in front of us without so much as a glance, let alone a thanks for waiting. We waited patiently the entire time, and no one communicated that our order would be longer than we were told. In fact, we kept hearing that it was almost done when it hadn’t even been started. I wasn’t planning on sharing this embarrassing service just because we had to wait. And then we ate. The food was greasy, as though onion rings had been tossed in to the box dripping with oil. The burger was overcooked and unappetizing and the quality of the ingredients was poor—as in: I was pulling wilted lettuce and a Kraft single off my burger.The wait was long, the food was not good, and staff was uncommunicative as well unapologetic and disrespectful. It seems they don’t wear name tags so they can avoid accountability, seems smart on their part.

This place has an awesome chicken fried steak with good gravy and maybe the best hash browns known to mankind. All three of us got the same thing and we were all starving and still none of us could muster the strength to eat it all. After the two eggs I thought I found hope in finishing the meal but after the enormous biscuit I had to tap out and take the rest to go. It took about 25-30 minutes after we ordered because we got the breakfast meal at 4pm but it was well worth the wait.

My wife and I both had the Taco Salad. Big shell with a lot of lettuce and a scant half cup of super well done (burnt) unseasoned crumbled hamburger. Hard, unripe avocado slices. Lots of sliced black olives. Some chopped tomato. Scant amount of shredded cheese. Small cup of sour cream on the side. Small dish of salsa. Not appetizing in any way. Not filling. An unfortunate choice for dinner. The waitress and hostess, however, were kind, pleasant and attentive. $45.00 with tip and left hungry.

Been stopping at the Hi-Lo for more than 30 years and have always looked forward to the good food and employees.Stopped for Breakfast/Lunch with my wife on 9/13 enroute from our home in Rocky Point,OR. I understand the problem with staffing these days, but I was very disappointed in the food quality. My eggs were literally Burnt, and the gravy on the biscuits was watery with small squares of an unidentifiablemeat(?). I returned the eggs which were replaced with properly cooked eggs. My wife remarked that the omelette was not the usual Hi-Lo quality.Please,Hi-Lo, do not degrade quality, raise prices if you must. Our waitress was pleasant and was embarrassed having to serve the poor quality meals.We will return, and hopefully, find our old Hi-Lo quality has returned.

Good home made cooking. Reasonable prices. Wait staff is very friendly.Due to pandemic closures they may have had trouble hiring and retaining staff. The last couple times we have visited they were either closed due to staffing issues or had very limited access.I love the nostalgia and the friendly locals environment. The decor and furniture are dated. Got a couple coffee cups from their schwag collection and everyone who visits our vacation house enjoys them.

It wasnt particularly busy, but the server was no where to be seen, so I asked the young lady who greeted me if she could take my order, since she was just chatting with some of the other guests. She said she couldnt because she was the busser, and not a server. Ohhhh... Im glad to know that Hi-Lo has highly qualified specialists, but when you only have two people up front, it may be good to learn to improvise a little. Just my humble suggestion.

My family and I were passing through the area and we saw this place, read the reviews, and decided that we wanted to try it out.It was fairly late at night, but the place was packed!! I approached one of the waitresses and greeted her to which I received no response too.I was going to ask what their hours were, if we still had enough time to eat, and if I could please see a Menu, but I received no answer whatsoever. Just a waitress staring angrily at me.I stood there for a minute slightly confused eventually she stepped from behind the counter and led us to a table in the back portion of the diner.Then another kind waitress brought us our Menus and asked if she could get us anything.The other girl continued to stare angrily at me. Im not quite sure what I did. My family and I were only searching to have a hot meal after traveling 2 days non stop.I felt so uncomfortable and upset that we just decided to leave. This is a great local diner. They also serve beer from the Weed brewery. I dont like the smell of their cleaner, but everything else is fantastic. The turkey pot pies are great, and they cook their turkeys fresh every day. They have a great salad bar, and they have really high quality dressing. Most of the servers are really friendly, too.

I have fond memories of this place for growing up, but it seems to have gone the way of its big brother Black Bear. Great old-style atmosphere with comfortable seating. The food has been hit or miss on our 2-3 visits. People raved about the meatloaf but it had a strange taste to it the last time we were there.
