By far my favorite sushi place in town! Fish is always fresh and tastes great, we always get the dinner special which is a great price for enough sushi for 2 people to share. Highly recommend for sushi lovers!

Stopped in with a huge sushi craving. I eagerly ate everything they brought me, plus dessert and a beer (large). Although I was so stuffed I could barely move and it was my only meal that day, it was brilliant!!!

The lunch and dinner special is what sets this place apart. You get a huge amount of quality sushi for the amount you pay and will never leave hungry. More likely you will leave with a doggie bag. The albacore tuna roll is my favorite and has never disappointed. The staff is very friendly and does a great job with refilling drinks.

Went in looking for a replacement sushi restaurant and what i found was the place i should have been coming to in the first place. Great service, cool atmosphere and even better food. I knew i was at the right place when i walked in and saw two seasoned Japanese gentleman doing all the slicing and dicing. Loved how every customer was greeted with a hello from them. If you are looking for a show, go somewhere else, BUT if you are looking for great service and even better food, then go check them out.

The presentation and flavor are always on point! Our faves include: Spicy tuna w/ crispy rice, Mango Tango, Lemon Tree, spicy Lion King, unagi and Bluefin toro. Actually, everything is so good. Enjoy!

We placed a phone order for pick up ended up repeating it about 4 times.We got to Hi Sushi and Holy moly that was fresh paint in that building. No door open for their customers who were sitting inside.Our to go order was large but We we’re missing items. Highly suggest with large order marking the top on the boxes so you make sure you have everything.Sadly, We got the shrimp lover Roll and it taste like paint.

This place has great sushi. We tried a nonchalant of rolls for the table that weve never had before. One was okay (that was our fault, we werent huge in the flavour profile-we tried something different) but the rest were phenomenal. Highly recommend Hi Sushi.

I’ve gone their twice both times good sushi but how do they not do anything about the sewer smell. It’s so bad the county should be called to come inspect it. It smells like a bathroom. Please do something about it that’s the only issue I have. A customer went in to sit down and was shocked of the smell that he told the waitress it smelled bad and he turned around and left. Someone needs to do something about it!

Horrible experience if I could give less stars i would the chef I had was rude my son had been here many of times it was my first time an wow I got takeout an payed cash I also gave the chef a larger bill to pay for the takeout an me an my son sat there waiting for the chef to bring back my change an I seen him come out an go to a different table I waited 20-25mins an I just took off upset il never bring my son back here again the chef just took the money an expected all of it as a tip which was way to much I was gonna tip him but he just decided to keep the change which was ridiculous Ive never had it happen before. Il recommend on here a good sushi spot thats respectful its called miyoshis try it an thank me later.

The only thing better than the sushi and the prices is.....the service! Our waitress was amazing. I wish her the best because people like her will definitely move on to bigger and better things. Hi Sushi, Hannah was extremely helpful and a real people person. She helped us order, made suggestions, served with a pleasant and positive attitude. She represented your restaurants interest as well as the customers. Coming from a customer service background, that line is difficult to determine and walk. She did a fantastic job. As for the food, it was delicious and plentiful per roll. Only recommendation is for more ginger to match the group size, but we could have easily asked for more. Presentation of the food is not overly exaggerated. Prices are very reasonable. Its small in size but, hopefully they can expand as they grow.

I hope the owner sees this review! I’m a longtime customer of Hi Sushi. My mom and I go nearly weekly and order the same four items every visit. We always have the same waitress who has gotten to see my baby grow each time which is even more fun. Lately, that waitress hasn’t been around, and service has gotten worse. Today, we had a new server (she had blue colored hair), and this was our worst visit yet. We ordered a sashimi plate, and I wish I took a picture of the butchered fish so you all could see how awful it was. Our salmon pieces had knife cuts in the middle of the fish creating holes. The tuna ranged from paper thin to binder thick. And another fish was the worst of the bunch. It had sinew all over it, knife cuts in the middle or partially through the fish, and instead of being a rectangle shape, it was like a mountain range. It was so jagged, botched, and horrid, we grabbed the waitress to show her. She said the cooks must’ve prepped for the rolls and not sashimi to excuse the awful knife skills. Then she admitted she actually doesn’t know anything about sushi and didn’t know what sashimi was supposed to look like except that it’s normally more “pretty” than that. Because of her lack of knowledge, she had seemingly no idea why my mom and I (huge sushi lovers) would have an issue with this. We sent 2/3 of the sashimi plate back in the pieces in came in, and they still charged us the $24 for the plate. After bringing the check, she said the cooks apologized for the bad cuts and they were just “rushed.” Please, if you’re the owner of Hi Sushi, my mom and I adored your restaurant, and we don’t want to come back if the cooks don’t have pride in what they’re serving or if the staff don’t know about the food. Continue pushing high standards for your sushi or you will lose all your customers.

If I could give zero stars I would. I am shocked that this has any high reviews at all. To start, the wait staff could care less about customer service. There were multiple people waiting to collect take out orders, tables having to flag them down for a check, and the guys next to me had to ask twice if he could get a menu to place a takeout order. I waited 50 minutes for my order which was short an entire roll when I got home. The food was NOT good. My daughter loves her California rolls and couldnt even eat it. I tried as well and found it inedible. The teriyaki chicken was dry and tough. The bulgogi was bland. Skip this place and try somewhere else....unless you like being disappointed and throwing away a decent amount of money.

#1 one sushi in Bakersfield!! If I could eat here once a week I would!! We order take out to go about twice a month and it is so worth it. The sushi is the best in town. The staff is polite and very good at what they do. Our food is prepared fresh and quickly. It’s worth every penny.

Best tempura roll is “Lemon Tree” I totally suggest it. Good place it’s not too big and that’s what I like about it.

Great service, great food, reasonable prices if you get the specials. Our server, a very nice lady offered to change our order to fit the special and it made a difference when the bill arrived. The food was excellent, we ordered three sushi rolls (dinner special) and the short ribs which were incredible. We will definitely come back for more.

I usually go down the street to love sushi on Coffee Rd, but it has changed for the worse. I now love HI SUSHI! THEY HAVE A THREE ROLL SPECIAL THAT IS A GREAT DEAL VERY DELICIOUS. He was very sloppy and made the rolls very small. Instead of putting the fish on top of the rolls he was cheap and put it across that way he only used two pieces to cover the whole roll on top. He was throwing food around and made it look unappetizing. To bad I was extremely dissatisfied and will never go back. I thought I found gold but it was only pyrite ( fools gold).

Went here because my husband got a hair cut next door and we were starving. I never was impressed by their signage or name so we never tried it but we were totally shocked. It was really good! We got the 911 and the Alaska roll and my husband got the udon seafood soup. Even the small salad you get before the rolls had a wonderful dressing on it. All the sushi was fresh tasting and good size. Service was prompt. The place is small so if it gets popular I could see it might have a wait. Although it does have the sushi bar you can sit at with at least a dozen seats.We will definitely be back.

When Im in town I eat here twice a week, Some times the food is amazing and the other times it needs a little help. ( Ie Sushi rice has been mushy, other times really dry ( Like hard grains ) there has also been times there was an overly sweet taste to the tuna hand roll or the cut sushi was falling apart) seems to be the same guys working so not sure ?Its much less the quality and more the consistency of the product gripe.The wait staff is amazing and my to go order is normally really fast. Like a few min wait... they are always so quick I dont even bother calling ahead.Its not 5 stars, BUT it does not cost me 100.00 to walk in the door.Bottom Line, Worth a try... I keep going back

I’ve been coming here for 3 years I love this place we usually sit and eat but today I did a togo order and received mini size pieces of sushi. This has never happened before so I can only presume that its the fact that its a to go order and they figured I wouldnt notice until I got home which happened but I definitely noticed. Food is usually good and normal size pieces of sushi so I dont know what happened but I’m super disappointed and probably will never order to go again.

The food was delicious but the wait was ridiculous. We sat at the table for 15min before our menu arrived. Placed an order last night for sushi and was told the food would not be ready for at least an hour. I showed up an hour later and the food was cold and looked like it had been siting out. Definately the best sushi restaurant in town, and it rivals many of those in bigger CA cities. If you go there enough, you will see them breaking down whole fresh fish at the sushi bar.The presentations of dishes are appetizing and creative. There are no tacky Japanese lanterns in the modern and impeccably clean dinning room.Do not be afraid that they are frequented with take home customers or the non-Japanese name. Hi Sushi is a comfortable restaurant worth eatting in, but if you are heading home from work and need good eats at good prices, call ahead and pick up a delicious dinner for the family enroute.
