Wanted to stay a night in the south bay to end my week of vacation, and was looking for an inexpensive stay. I had read some mixed reviews about the Hi View, but gave it a try. So glad I did. When I checked in, the working manager was very nice, the check in process was very smooth. My room on the ground floor was close to the busy street, but this property has a barrier on the ground floor, to deflect most of the street noise.Think I paid about $85 for one night with a queen bed; room was a bit small, but more than adequate for one person. Bathroom was nicely styled, and clean. And the parking in their lot is free, whereas I noticed other hotels in the south bay tended to charge for parking. Good location, nice room, good upkeep, clean premises. My rating would be 4.5 stars, but really good rate for that area.
Quaint little Motel style accommodations. We are in room 114, a king bedded room which was more like a suite than a room. Had a separate living area with desk and couch. Awesome walk in shower. Had all the comforts...coffee, microwave, larger refrigerator. Very clean. Property maintained very well. No outdoor amenities but close to the beach. Rates more reasonable than others in the area and feel very safe here amongst beautiful beach homes. Great comfortable stay.
We have been here for about six times and love it so much. It‘s perfectly located and the rooms are super nice! Also the whole service is perfect! Love this place to stay! :)
LOVED the blackout shades. We found the room to be very clean. Cant beat the price! Walk is .8 miles to the beach through a quiet residential neighborhood. Ill echo other reviews in that towel racks and TP holder would be a nice addition to the bathroom. We were greeted kindly and efficiently. You can hear cars whoosh by on the street but not loud enough to wake even light sleepers. Minutes to the airport but no loud airport noise. Wed definitely stay again.

The worst place I have ever stayed in. The room was extremely tiny, dont be fooled by the pictures. The bed was very dirty and had stains all over, and the pillows had brown things on them that looked as either blood or something worse. I dont recommend this place. Also bed bugs. My whole body was itching all night and i couldnt sleep. They refused to change my room or even change the sheets, even after showing them the brown stains. Their excuse, the lady that cleans the rooms and changes the sheets is not here and wont be back until tomorrow and all other rooms are taken even though the parking lot was half full. I am convinced the good reviews here are fake.
Reserved, paid, & stayed for 2 nights.Found out via credit card bill 3 weeks later that I’d been charged an additional 2 nights, for a time dated 2 days after I’d checked out.Called reception repeatedly—no answer, then emailed, & response states my account will be credited for the additional dates I’d originally reserved. I did not reserve these dates, I was literally back at home 500 miles away during the time they charged.No apology, no acknowledgement of over-charge, nothing. Seems like a scam.
Don’t STAY HERE!I was there on a respite after losing my mom a couple months ago. I paid for the first four days upfront when I checked in. I decided to add another day to my stay because I moved around quite a quite a bit since my mom‘s death and I found that the consistency of being there helped me tremendously. But but! The innkeeper named Tina would not take my reservation because my card on file did not have enough money on it. I had money on another card but that card had been stolen with my wallet about two weeks prior to my visit at Hi view. Long story short it was a an awful experience because she fought with me physically to keep me out of my room in order for me to get my belongings. I could only cry but I also know that she took my kindness for weakness and I called the police. It was a disaster. She would not let me talk to the manager who owns the building. She said real curtly “he does not want to talk to you”. I told her she has got to be the worst innkeeper that I’ve ever encountered in my whole life. Don’t stay there she cares nothing about anyone but just bringing the money in. She’s not even there during the day. I almost got locked out for the whole day because I walked out to go to my car early in the morning and locked myself out. I went over to the front and she happen to be DONT STAY HERE!!!up front and she said oh you should be happy that I was still here because I am going to my other job meaning I would’ve been locked out until she got back. This is not the way you handle a business. I have never been treated so poorly so poorly in my whole traveling life! It’ll be a cold day in hell before I even looked that way that’s how bad she made me feel
Will never book again, their lobby closes at 11pm, and when we tried to call to explain we’d be late, because of flight delays, it was always busy, couldn’t even leave a message, was charged @ mid night for cancellation, when we tried to call again in the morning at 9 when they open, it would still give us the busy line tone, didn’t hear from them until 11 am, which by then we had booked another hotel. Terrible service, DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Non-chain private hotel that is a little more expensive than budget commercial chain motel accommodations. However, environmentally speaking, exteriors are updated lending to unique atmosphere. Rooms are smaller than average, but better than typically found in the budget line series of accommodations. Beds are double in size, so those wanting queen or king size beds should find different accommodations. Rooms come with mini fridge, microwave, and single cup coffee maker. Panda Express directly across the street for a good option ave grocery not far away. Good option for low cost accommodation.
Nice and clean. Front desk is kind. No shelf in bathroom to place things. Air conditioning wasnt very strong, left it on for the day came back and it was shut off. Loved the windows being open but I wouldnt recommend sleeping with them open because of the busy street out front. Air circulation kinda sucks but seems like alot of places have that issue, otherwise it was nice.
Based on the relatively low price, I was expecting a budget motel experience. However I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. The rooms were rather large. Everything in the room looked modern and contemporary with clean hardwood floors. There was currently construction going on, which I knew going in. I would definitely stay here again.
At first, this hotel seemed very nice. Great location, appeared clean, good sized room, great service, and updated features. Parking on-site was nice as well. When we went for a shower, we realized there were no towel racks or hooks. Thats okay, we just hung it over the shower, but a hook would be a nice improvement. No toilet paper roll holder either, but also not a big deal. On the second and third nights, we received two phone calls each night. Both times were in the middle of the night, around 3:30am-4:30am, and all four times no one was on the other end. It was a bit annoying, but overall, not a big deal. The bed was somewhat comfortable, but it would get very warm in there at night, even with the A/C on. Regardless, I was ready to rate my stay 4 stars when I got home. However, on my way back home, I noticed I had many itchy bumps all over my legs! My husband did, too! Bed bugs!!! Ahhhh, so not fun! I would suggest to management they get this figured out ASAP. As for future guests, I highly recommend not staying here until the bed bug problem is fixed. The other issues I encountered were minimal, but I am disgusted by the bites all over my legs!
Such a gem!!! Clean, modern, spacious, well decorated and convenient location for Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach when you dont want to pay the high prices at staying steps from the beach. Highly recommend. Thank you Hi View for such a pleasant stay.
An absolutely lovely surprise after a long drive. Received a very generous upgrade by the very nice gentleman at the desk. Clean room, very comfortable bed, good shower! and great amenities. Plus, the location is so close to the beach!
Less than average. During my last trip where I booked over 12 hotels one after another, this one one of the greatest disappointment according quality and price. One good this what I can say, the location is great according Manhattan Beach. Small room with bed 140cm for two people, you cannot ask anything additionally (no extras, changes etc). Really average expensive hotel with good location.
A really pleasant surprise. Rooms are modern and feel freshly renovated, and are larger than usual with a seperate sitting area. The bathroom was also modern and had a good shower. No breakfast but try the Two Guns coffee shop one block down for excellent coffee.
Nice clean and modern rooms with friendly staff. Lovely big shower! Our only faults we noticed were the sink was slow draining and the shower water temp could vary randomly.
We stayed here for 4 nights. Its a normal motel, not so crowded but with bigger than average rooms. I liked that part, but it lacks breakfast and swimming pool if youre into that. The whole place is really small, just the motel building and a parking lot that can accommodate exactly one vehicle per room. Staff was friendly, but sometimes they werent present at the front desk and would have to wait a few minutes for them to come, especially during late evening. The only thing that I can say I didnt like was the Wi-Fi, which was slow and randomly became unavailable for a couple of minutes.
My husband and I loved staying here! The room was clean, organized, affordable and comfortable. The staff was friendly and it was close enough to the beach for a cheap Uber ride. Will definitely stay here next time we’re in the area!
Absolutely loved our stay!! The rooms were amazing and newly renovated! No complaints from us. Its a nice 10 minute drive to Manhattan Beach and in close proximity to food and shopping.

Horrible human being at the reception desk (Southeast asian male). Ive never been treated that way before. Horrible noisy rooms and extremely dirty. My friend stayed at another room and we think she might had catch COVID there. They dont follow the cleaning protocols. I really hope this type of places with unfair practices and cleaning issues could be regulated by some government agency because is not fair for us as users. Not sure the good reviews here seem fake, check yelp and do yourself a favor, DO NOT STAY HERE.

Rooms were very clean, furniture was surprisingly modern and new. Shower and bed were amazing. Location is great! The hotel is right in front of a neighborhood of beautiful homes which makes for a great view!
Unless they give their guests complimentary pickles to their guests, the previous people who stayed in our room left them in our fridge, and the fridge wasn’t checked before we checked in. Not a big deal, we thought it was funny!Clean room, decent shower, ok beds. Close to the beach.
The price is good but its on a really noisy street and sleep is rough. The fridge starts to buz right next to your head every few hours also. Really not peaceful. Its an OK place, I wouldnt stay there again though. Of and the mattress is wayyyy too soft, hurts your back.

This hotel looks old on the outside, the inside was upgraded to a point. New floors, possibly new paint. Beds were comfortable, new tv. The air conditioner fan ran ALL THR TIME, but the room never really cooled off. Usually air conditioning dries things out, our room was damp all the time, even our clothes in our suitcase became damp while we stayed there. The bathroom was not upgraded except maybe a new shower curtain... the hair dryer was so filthy I wouldnt even touch it and there was hair in the hair dryer and in the ceiling fan in the bathroom. There was mold in the shower and stains on the walls.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I have never in my life have to deal with such rude hotel service in my life. I was not able to even check in because I am not 25 years old. Even though Expedia stated the age requirement is: 18 years and older. The hotel staff belittled me and told me I was too immature to book a room to. Both the owner and manager told me that I clearly didnt know how to read because the fine print says 25 years or older, which is true in the actual hotel but NOT online. So how is someone who books online supposed to know that? Then, when I tried to stand my ground and fight for the room I paid for I was told to get out or else they would call the cops. I got scammed out of my money and now neither Expedia nor Hi View Inn will give me my money back.
Some rude guy who I am assuming is the owner of the hotel aasked me to hurry up and check in because fhe lady at the front desk was going to be leaving for 30 minutes. So minus 1 star for that but the room was clean, no bed bugs, non smoking and the lady at the front desk was polite so 4 stars for that!
I dont recommend this place to anyone that has a kid. They charged us with $100 just because they werent able to take the stain from the bedsheets. It is way too impossible! We use white sheets at home from our bed to our couch it get stains all the time because of our 1 year old & it always comes off!!!! Never checking in here again! Too disappointed!
This motel had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. There was zero accomodation to me and my friends regardless of how small the request. We also were almost charged $170 more dollars for being 5 minutes late on checkout time. This place is a cash grab and a shake down. Does not deserve your business
I cant comment on the rooms because we never made it out of the office but I can say that the service is terrible. We made a reservation online and when we arrived to check in we were made aware that there was an issue with the reservation that would require the manager. After two hours of waiting for the manager, who they said is also the owner, we were informed he would probably be back in another four hours, probably. Not a good way to run a business or treat customers.
The Inn is overall nice, centrally located, and good price. The bathrooms dont have anywhere to hang your towel or any shelves in the flat floor shower, so that could be improved.
Great little boutique hotel. Looks like it was redone recently, and very well cared for. Rooms arent huge, but very comfortable. Some good little eateries nearby. Nice view from the walkway.

There was construction work going on while we were there, but as only using for a base and venturing out all day, this wasnt an issue. Shows the place is keep to keep up with modernisation and general up keep. It was a lovely place to stay for out time around Los Angeles.

Been here many times for work. Its a great basic hotel/motel with clean, upgraded rooms, in-room microwave & mini fridge, and anytime I have reported a problem, it has been addressed quickly.

If it was possible to give zero stars I would. This place let us book and pay for the room but then when we arrived said we had to be 25 we were 23. They refused to refund our money saying the cancellation was within 24 hrs and they cant refund anything on that short of notice but we booked over the phone five minutes prior to arrival. How dishonest can you get?

Great hotel with good value for money. We were there at the end of October. We liked it very much. Nice rooms, great big beds, which isnt the case everywhere, clean and very nice staff. It is located in a nice part of town where you can also go for a nice walk. The very beautiful beach is also not far away.In addition, an “important” stuffed animal slipped behind our mattress, which the staff sent home to Germany (at our expense, of course). This is not a given and we are very grateful for this extra service. We would definitely stop there again.
Rooms are very small. Equipment is worn out. Hygiene is ok at first glance. The second one notices dirty towels, hair in the bathroom from the previous person and other things. Water pressure in the shower is so low that taking a shower is almost impossible. Too expensive for what is offered. Even for “just” one night.
The location is great and the room is really modern and clean. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the beach by car.It was a great stay for one night. Would recommend it.
The hotel has been renovated, very nice and tidy. The only drawback was the small rooms, it was difficult for two people to stay in the room with two suitcases, there was no wardrobe or table to eat a meal. It is possible to rent the apartment for a higher price for those interested. About 2 km to the beach, several shops and restaurants around.
We booked a standard room for 4 nights for $360. The room we were given was tiny. It actually consisted of a small bed and a single chair. I would never book it again as I got claustrophobic in it. The price was outrageous.
We had a very nice room. Queen size bed was fine for two. Bathroom was old compared to the rest. The water pressure when showering was low. You have to expect a good 1 hour drive to Los Angeles (e.g. Walk of Fame). You can get to the beach in 5 minutes by car. Pleasant area with some shopping nearby (Target, Raphels, ...) and fast food restaurants. Even though it is on a major street, it was very quiet. I would definitely recommend it if you want to go to the beach more. If you want to spend more time in Los Angeles, you should look for accommodation nearby.
We recommend. Rooms completely renovated, the bathroom was a bit small but also modernized. Everything clean and recommended. Enough shopping possibilities nearby as well as fast food restaurants. Approximately 20 minutes walk to the beach, 5 minutes by car. Approximately 1 hour to downtown LA, depending on the time. So I would recommend it and book again.

Motel well located on the Manhattan Beach side (5 min by car) with everything you need in terms of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Comfortable room although a little small, but we had a good stay there.

2023-08-05 05:57:08Honestly I very rarely give feedback about places I visit. But I went there July 23th for a 1 night stay. As soon as we arrived we noticed how small the room was for the price we paid. We were very tired from a long flight and just wanted good rest. Imagine our surprise when we found a stain of blood on the sheets and hair on our pillows. What to say about the bed cover that was so dirty we put it on the floor and did not use it. I had to go get extra sheets very late at night. The lady at the front desk was very nice but gave me no corner sheet. I explained the situation and she never told me she would refund my stay. Very upsetting. We left early morning. Close to Manhattan beach and quiet spot I will give them that. Cherry on top of the sundae my credit card got charged twice which gave me lots of trouble. Never again !

2023-07-09 15:08:09Hair and stains on the sheets. They advertise a pullout bed but they dont provide linen. Musty in the rooms. The refrigerator wasnt on when we got there so it didnt get cold enough to keep our food cold. Conveint spot and parking included is a plus. Rooms are updated.

2023-05-09 12:14:47Loved this place. The owner/manager Tina was nice. Helpful and friendly. Room was spotless. Tina informed me I could watch the sun set from my window. Which I did and it was magnificent. Easy to get to if using public transport, can walk down the hill to get to Manhattan Beach or there is customer parking on site. I’ll defo be back here again

Bed was actually amazing, one of the best sleeps I had whilst travelling. Only thing was the damp/slightly mold small. We opened windows and that seemed to help air it out

2021-12-14 20:15:41WONDERFUL STAY!!! It took me a very long time to choose a place to stay for my solo trip to California. Based on views and price, Hi View was the top choice. The staff was amazing and kind ! They allowed for a late check out and whenever I needed anything, they ensured I got it ! I stayed for 7 days and I had such a pleasant stay. The bathroom is newly renovated and I loved the large mirror with great lighting. It is not run down at all, the rooms are spacious and even had a couch in it ! Clean, spacious, great location, great staff, I can not say enough good things! Also only a 15 minute walk straight to the beach and a 15 minute walk to Target ! I am definitely staying here again!

2022-08-20 00:00:35This was our second stay here, so it was enough to our liking to come back. I’d assume one’s assessment would be impacted by the cxxt, which will depend on season/days of week (when I have written the word in the past my review seems to not get posted). This is a traditional motel with what I consider nicely UPDATED finishes inside. The bed, sheets, pillows are comfortable, there are proper sized towels. There’s a little fridge, microwave, mini coffee maker, TV, hairdryer. The floors are tiled (way better than carpet), there is NO awful flowered coverlet on the bed. I would judge our basic queen-bed room to be on the very SMALL side. Might not be perfect for a longer stay or one where you think you might be in the room for long periods of time. The check-in hours are limited, which is now quite common at lots of smaller hotels. I left my id at check-in (perfectly friendly and speedy) and was happy they quickly realized it and knocked on my door to return in. There is no public/social spot to sit outside the room. Within easy walking distance (north) there is a great coffee shop and a good grocery store (Gelston’s).
