We took family here to celebrate an 80th birthday and this was his choice place. 8 total in party. Made reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. Staff was friendly and got our orders quick. Chef was friendly and family enjoyed watching the food being made. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food. Sushi was yummy. Steak, shrimp and chicken cooked before our eyes were delicious and cooked to order.

Their manager Kenny was rude!!! Immediately when we walked in at 8:34 PM we were told that they were closed. They close at 10 PM on a Saturday. Once we said we had a reservation they decided to take us. The hostess called her manager over and was told that they didn’t receive our reservation. We proved that we had called and spoke to a woman. They could see the call log and Kenny said he did not care that he was sitting next to the hostess and because it’s not written down we don’t have a reservation. It was four of us visiting on vacation we knew this place was best made as a reservation. We looked around the restaurant some of the tables had not even received a chef and still had seating. Kenny just refused to seat us. I don’t understand how you close at 10 and make reservations for 8:30 PM and say that you’re closed. After being rudely turned away we went to Eddie V’s and enjoyed an amazing dinner with proper service.

Chefs great. Service not so great.Had reservation but made us wait longer since all our family got there. Even though when we all there still had to wait. Check your bill closely. Added extra stuff that we didnt order and top was already included. So I double tip not k owing it.😖
Have eaten here twice, three years apart.Vacationing in Palm Desert.Quite easy to get a table on a weekday. Somewhat friendly service. 7 out of 10 on the cook entertainment scale. Decent portion sizes.The two typical teppanyaki sauces are thin and less tasty than at other establishments. Decor is plain, a little worn, and not completely clean. A little pricey for teppanyaki of its caliber.
Atmosphere was nice. The chef that cooked in front of us did a good job and was entertaining. The service sucked. Drinks ordered and never delivered, water glasses not refilled, food was bland, rice came after we were through with our meal. Some meals came after everyone else was done eating. Overall, the experience was poor.

We placed our order. We, a party of two each ordered our meal with the server. We received our meals and we both received the wrong meal. Not what we ordered. When we spoke with the server, she told us that she took the right order and we were wrong. She never apologized, never tried to assist us. She walked away and the next time we saw her was when she dropped our check off at our table. We were so disappointed in our server and her training. We will never go back.
Wasnt much of a tampon table fried rice was Bland and cook didnt do much to entertain us. When I asked for a hot sake and a Asahi beer they gave me 3 oz of beer and a small shot glass of hot sake. Waiter disappeared for long periods. We were not impressed

We had a 7:30 reservation here & weren’t seated until 7:50. Once we sat we didn’t get our dinner until 8:35. I was really disappointed with the lack of service. Watching a group get here 10 minutes after us and have their food much sooner was disappointing. A lot of the staff, including the chef, did a great job. It was the being ignored and bringing it to their attention, and having them do nothing to fix it. I asked them what they could do to help make up for it & he said “Your waiter is on the way, that’s the best we can do.” I wouldn’t recommend anyone go here.
If you feel like getting scammed and stressed this is the place. Disappointed.

The vegetarian tofu option hit the spot! our griller was very kind and accommodating and the fried rice was delicious. my drink initially came without alcohol, but they brought a full cocktail glass to compensate.

Delicious food, exciting dinner and a show experience, super family friendly but still felt fancy. Very accommodating - we were seated right away even though we didnt have a reservation. We were celebrating our sons birthday. Both of our children (12 & 5) said it is their new favorite restaurant. Approx $15-$30 per person for a lovely meal. Well worth the price! Its going to be our birthday dinner spot!
Horrible we didnt even get past the door.. wasnt aware that this reservation only restaurant.. the LITTLE TUFF GUY(practicing finger twirling skills with his mighty pen)behind the desk was EXTREMELY RUDE.. when asked how long for seating.. just straight ignored us.. and walked away.. would of like to of experienced this spot but in my opinion maybe its not worth the time spent walking from the car to the front door of this establishment. From what was witnessed from where we stood as we were not even offered somewhere to wait as other patrons were after we entered.. place looked dull.. decore(there was none) and the sushi bar was a desert 🏜 . NOT WORTH THE VISIT!.. even if we had been seated. SAD!

Took my mother her 5 yrs ago pre-covid and tried it out again recently. Now giving them the covid benefit of the doubt my review follows.Price was high but what I think is normal for the dinner show experience and the chef was nice.BUT, I recomend that if you are choosing between New York steak and Filet minion, go with the latter. TRUST ME! not only the softer meat the main perk is the latter option gives you more meat. In my experience me and my other guest had just bunch of chewy fat on the steak that was diced up with the meat that we didnt eat.( I mean to each their own I wish I would have known tbh).Umm the chef was a little dull in terms of entertainment but agian I dont hold that against him or anyone in particular. We where sharing the table and idk if covid effects how much they can do or if the table was not interactive enough it just felt dull especially when you go having a certain expectation. Felt like all the food could have used a blessing of salt. Fried rice was insanely buttery since other group insisted on the fried rice being drowned in butter( should have spoke up it was not ideal)Oh and half the menu is sushi and there was no sushi guy. That was supper weird tbh.All around nice experience but do wish to try against in the future possibly when things starts to go back to some sort of normal.
Very fun and food was delicious. My son really enjoyed it. Our Itamae was entertaining and my son was sad when he left, we wish we had more time with him.Its a little pricey but worth it for a special occasion.

Came here with a party of 7 to celebrate a birthday party and very excited to try this place!The greeting of the hostess was very rude and her look and response was the first sign that we should of left.... she told told us it will be half an hour before we could get seated, after waiting little more than half an hour we asked her how much longer she replied even when you do get seated dont expect to be served it will be another hour till someone can serve you! Her attitude was awful! The restaurant was more than half empty too. Please save your time and money on other wonderful restaurants in palm springs you wont regret it!
Its better to dine in I enjoyed majority of my food. I just dont like the items they try to serve you like the soup and salad and if u dont want want it its not no price being knocked off. But overall respectable place and people.

Jimi was so funny! Awesome dinner. It is pricey. I would suggest going early to get happy hour prices. My chicken only was 19 dinner prices are higher. Beware not good for small children. There is a minimum 11 charge. We ended up getting the kids their own meal for 12 bucks, so small kids that usually share a meal will probably end up with lots of leftovers. Almost took down to 4 stars, but the food was good.

All talent on the staff. Really I cant imagine how you nurture and train up an expert staff like that. It is ALMOST a comedy club. It is the same magic show at each table, probably? Nevertheless you have to look at this as some combination of the culinary arts and a kind of, comedy show? You wish they would all watch every Sarah Silverman or Nimesh Patel special, because they would probably choke people to death.

We had 6pm reservations. Due to a work issue we were running a little late. I called Hibachi at 6:10 to inform them we were a little behind schedule. The phone rang 16 times with no answer. When we arrive there was NO parking. Had to park at the Hilton. We then entered the restaurant and spoke to the rude man at desk. He told us that he gave our table away. He insisted he answered the phone when we called, a blatant lie. He was rude, condescending and arrogant. He was on the phone while talking to us. Horrible manners. I will never go this establishment. We were just at Mastros last night. What a difference in service and courtesy. Next time its Shogun for us. Ill continue to write reviews to influence others about this place. Apparently they dont want customers.
5 of us arrived for dinner with reservations. The service was excellent, the wait staff polite and attentive. The chef was excellent, funny, extremely efficient with his tools and expert at his craft. Food was delicious and plentiful. A very nice experience.
In the time I was there atleast 3 couples left since they only do sushi on weekends. They have a bunch of people standing around but nobody to serve. Doesnt sound very thought out and just left to kobes instead.
I use to love this place. Took my girlfriend last night. We bought a bottle of wine waiting for our table. Our waiter only came by the table to take orders, NEVER came back to the table even once until dinner was done. Had to give my lighter to the chef to do his tricks because there wasnt another one in the restaurant and then to top it off the waiter added an $18 dollar corkage fee to my tab for the wine we bought 10 feet away at the bar. Are you kidding me? He never asked, just charged the fee. Check your receipts!
I was excited to try this place for the first time with my husband, but it took us less than five minutes to run away. As soon as we entered, we felt unwelcomed. The woman up front gave us this look and said, Can I help you? with an attitude. We almost left, but decided to give her a chance. I was surprised that the place was almost empty. This woman grabbed the menus and murmured something. We assumed she asked us to follow her, so we did. She placed the menus at a table and left. We were supposed to sit next to another couple which I think we all felt awkward. Then, I decided to leave a chair in between the couple and us to kind of have some privacy, but the woman caught me and raised her voice to let me know I was doing wrong. I guess it is the way people sit and eat at this place, but I did not feel comfortable. Finally, the womans ridiculous reaction made us run away to never come back again. Thanks for reading.

Place is good. But for the price I dont think its worth it. I took my wife and kids there for mothers day and it was nothing special. The presentation was brief and the food was mediocre. Youre better off going to a fine dinning restaurant where you can get better quality, better service and you can take your time. Since its a group table, once the chef leaves, it feels like youre being rushed to finish your food and the server seldom comes around.

The cook was great and the food was pretty good, but water that was given to us had floaters or lipstick in all of our glasses. Also, completley ignored by the bartender while I was the only one standing at the bar waiting to order a drink. Instead she walked away and started closing checks. After a few minutes of standing there staring at her, a gentleman from the back came out and helped me. Only my 2nd time eating there. Most likely wont return.
It was daughter birthday but all in all truly enjoyed Hibachi the food very good I enjoyed watching the chef cook the food and all the chicks that came with it and just started out a little late for us but it was okay and if you were trying to find out if I will come back yes I would cuz Ive never experienced that before my daughter has been there and she wanted to go so we went there for her birthday thank you so very much because I truly enjoyed it
It was our first time here. The service was great and always making sure everything was good. The food was great and the chef was great. He was always making conversations with us and the other people.
Nasty I believe they sell dog and cat meat because my friends dog is missing and its not the first time they have to cut it out they are not even having the same issue as a 3rd world country
Service today was horrible. The cook was ok but the waitress was not. After our initial drink order she never came back. I had to go up to the bar to ask for more drinks and we waited 30 min for our check and to top it off the waitress took it upon herself to tip herself and kept our change. Service has really gone down hill similar to Kobe’s. Please step up your service, there are many Japanese Restuarants in the valley willing to take our money.

My kids told me how wonderful this place was soooo for my biryhday we went. Started out nice seated quickly got drink orders fast and took order. The little ones were so excited seeing all the action at the other tables they couldnt wait, unfortunately when our chef arrived he was very dull asked if there was a birthday at the table we told him yes he said OK He attempted to place oil on the grill and light it on fire and it wouldnt light on fire and he just laughed then he made it a Volcano out of an onion cooked our food and said thank you and walked away no performance with utensils or nothing the kids were extremely disappointed, They were waiting for him to throw shrimp play music with his utensils and do lots of fire pic tricks toss eggs in their hats he did nothing he just cooked . my 9 year old who has been multiple times said he never wants to return he wants to go to the other place I wasnt terribly disappointed about not being sang Happy Birthday like every other table had but my children were very disappointed we will not be returning we will have to hit kobys and check them out

Online hours show they close at 10pm, I had guest that were visiting from out of town and heard good things about this location, we arrived a little over 9pm, we were told they were closed even though online it showed otherwise. Its really upsetting when the staff was rude about the situation, we called Kobes and even though they were closing up they took us in past their kitchen hours and we had a great expirence.
I love this place! I had the filet mignon and it was phenomenal it truly does melt in your mouth, not nearly as good reheated but so so so good! Also tried the salmon and that was not so good it was a little too sweet for my liking. The fried rice is soo good! The people are so friendly and nice and it such a fun expierance.
Ive been eating suchi here for 12 years and feel like a vip every time! Fresh and delicious every time!!

We went for valentines dinner. I ordered scallops, saw the cook wiping black stuff off the scallops. Didnt think much of it. We ate and left. Soon as we got to the car I broke out in hives. When we got home everyone else in my family ran to the bathroom. We all got severe food poisoning. When we called to tell them they said no one else got sick. They said they would send us a $50 gift certificate for our troubles. We Havent gotten that certificate. All in all a bad experience that they didnt make right. Never again
Loved it. The prices are as expected for a hibachi place (fairly expensive), but the service was top notch and the chef made it a good experience for our 1 and 3 yr Olds. I had the tofu and it was the most flavorful (fried) tofu that Ive ever had

Very small and quaint but fast friendly service. Ive come to realize all hibachi acts are the same,but our cook was lively inculded everyone and made sure to add kids to the act. The only bad thing was i asked for wifi code if it was ok i was frowned upon and told no a few minutes later 2 other men came a drilled me about why i wanted to use there private code. It was for my son tablet and some restaurants require you to ask they dont make thiers public no big deal

They had no paper towels to dry your in either the mens or women bathroom which made wonder how food handlers washed or dried there hands. I requested paper towels and they said they have some one put some in there but they never did. So sad.
I use to love going there, but they have change the food was very very salty i dont think the have experience cook anymore cause they have the burner plate to high so they cook the food faster but what they are doing is burning everything the soya sauce they use to much on everything is JUST TO SALTY !!!!!!! very Disappointed... For people that like a lot of salt it be good for you,

We love hibachi-style cooking and frequent Benihana. We thought wed try something different this time. Better at Hibachi: salad dressing. Similar: shrimp (although this chef overcooked it) and vegetables (Hibachi includes carrots). Better at Benihana: miso soup, sauces, scallops (Hibachi didnt remove the beard) and chicken (Hibachi had a bad piece of chicken, so it tainted the whole batch and they douse it in teriyaki sauce). It all tasted ok, but was not worth $35.
Chipped off 1/4 of a tooth on something in the food (rice, shrimp w/o shell and scampi- not smth you expect to have bones or rocks in). The restaurant didnt offer any sort of compensation.
Even with the outdoor dining it was still great my kids enjoyed the experience and food was great.

2023-06-18 03:53:10Decent option if youre looking for a tepanaki type dinner. They generally have reservations available same day if you call early enough. Food is good and various options are available. Experience is different depending who your wait staff and chef are so there are some inconsistencies. Parking isnt great.

2022-03-13 07:19:42This is not our first time at a hibachi style restaurant & I can only give this Hibachi Steak House a 3. Felt very rushed. We get our Soup & only after a few bites we get our Salad & rice. Chef starts cooking & before we are done with the Salad we now have the Shrimp appetizer & Vegetables on our plate. The Teriyaki Chicken was our main entree which was very tender & flavorful. Unfortunately we had a very unshowy experience compared to all the other tables around who seem to be having so much fun. Very little conversation or interaction. I usually hardly ever give low points, but this was a rather disappointing experience for us. It was kind of like getting you fed & getting you out. Another thing that just didnt seem right was to have the plates of food cleaned off right on the cooking table while we were still sitting there.

2023-06-19 01:22:59Took my 16-year-old for her birthday dinner and called made a reservation told the person on the phone for a birthday. Told the receptionist when we got there we had a birthday. Told the chef twice. They tried to rush us but didnt offer dessert. We were sitting next to another family that had a birthday and no acknowledgment. The table next to us had two birthdays and got sung to. Will be taking our business to Kobes next time.

2020-10-01 02:51:48I booked a bday reservation ahead of time and the establishment made sure to accommodate. Food was good and the chef was very social. Also keep in mind dinners come with soup, salad, and main entrée but no dessert. Other than that just sit and enjoy.

2019-06-15 07:03:17This place is wonderful! I had the Tofu plate with a shrimp appetizer. We also had a California sushi roll. For my birthday dessert, a refreshing orange with rainbow sorbet was served. The raspberry vodka cocktail was tasty and a nice touch to the meal! The staff and our chef were friendly and fun! Definitely going back!

Our chew was extremely interactive and catered to every request and went above and beyond. I would recommend for sure. The price was honestly good for the overall service, food, and atmosphere.

2019-03-06 06:24:07Had a wonderful experience, kids were in awe! Food was good. We felt a little rushed to get through the order and drinks etc but the staff was understanding and kind to let us slow it down. Shared a chicken meal and roll of sushi with two kids and it was a perfect amount of food.
