I cant speak more highly of this amazing establishment. My friends and I came hungry and were treated to some of the most authentic and delicious plant-based / cruelty-free dishes. I ordered a little assortment and each one became my favorite!The owners were incredible, the service top-notch, and the food speaks for itself! Go here. Eat here. You wont regret it.. and if you arent vegan already.. you very well may be after one stop here. I cant wait to return and bring other activists here to support an amazing business spreading more compassion in the world. ✌🏽💚🌱

Delicious vegan tacos and sides.Ban Mi taco was my favorite.The flour tortillas are fresh and thick, almost like pitas.The Spicy Beach taco was very spicy. Its in the name but I was still surprised.Elote tastes amazingly creamy despite it all being vegan.Still delicious

Omg! Their food is so delicious!!! And 100% Vegan! 😊We ordered Jeff Breakfast Hash, No Stas Cochinita, Spicy Beach, Phat Hass, Watermelon Mint 🍉 Fresca, Gimme a Boost Smoothie. We even took two bowls of No Stas Cochinita and Jeff Breakfast Hash home for later! Nom nom nom!The owners are so nice and made the environment so house warming! They also gave us a Strawberry Lemonade Cake on the house! They are the sweetest people ever! Oh and that Watermelon 🍉 Mint Fresca is everything lol nom nom nom slurp slurp! 😊This place is a must try! Excellent all around! Cant wait to come back and bring my mom! Wonderful ambiance and excellent customer service. Authentic food from the Yucatán - very caring and you can tell they put their love and joy into their food. Usually when I see lots of 5 stars I’m fairly skeptical, but WOW! My partner and I have been looking for the best food in LA for sometime, and when we found this place we fell in love.I would gladly choose to go here over any other restaurant in the city! Our first few times we ordered one of each taco and honestly they’re all delicious. Plus the owners are incredibly kind and great to talk with. I cannot recommend this place enough. If more people had incredible food like this the world would be a better place.

Love the food and vibe. I ordered the Banh Mi burrito and it was deeelish! They didn’t skimp on the healthy ingredients either (there was quinoa in it!) but didn’t sacrifice the taste. Also- definitely order the hummus- it’s like nothing I’ve ever tasted- in the best way! Owners are ridiculously nice and offer great service. Thanks for a delicious lunch! Can’t wait to come back and try more off the menu

I almost never eat at all vegan joints but everything I had here was excellent! Had the spicy beach bowl and really enjoyed it. Mango salsa has a little kick but just a 5/10 spiciness. 10/10 taste for sure…I cleaned my plate! The bowl feels light but hearty enough a meal where I felt full afterward. Being Asian, I have a predisposition for daikon root, which is the crispy battered feature good of this plate and it is delicious. The chips and dip were also great. Crispy, warm and tasty. Owners are really friendly and food is prepared pretty quickly. Will be back for lunch again soon!

The food and service are incredible, fusion tacos/burritos with Mayan traditional influences which was unexpected and added a unique component. Lots of mix and match options with different sauces and toppings. Flavors were fresh and super tasty, presentation was amazing. I tried the Phat Hass, No Stas Cochinita jackfruit, Beyond Brat, and the Spicy Beach fish tacos, with Kibis quinoa croquettes and a blueberry jamaica aqua fresca.Would definitely eat here again, prices are reasonable and the tacos are well stacked, nice change from typical Mexican food. Really friendly host and felt welcome. Indoors is a bit cozy but there are a couple outdoor tables. Oddly enough I used to eat vegan Indian food in this same location 15yrs ago when it was called Chicken haha, glad its now a fully vegan establishment. Please support them!!

My gosh was this place delicious! Best tacos in LA area and A definite Must try! You can NOT go wrong with any of their food. All of their tacos are uniquely flavorful. We were very fortunate to be super hungry and got to try one of each of their tacos and it did not disappoint. Everything is to die for. The pancakes took me back to my hometown where they cook and a wood burning stove and comal. The aguas frescas are amazing. Like I said you can not go wrong with their food. As a non-vegan, I wholeheartedly recommend this place. I have tried 8 different things from their menu and every single one has been a legitimate 10/10.The chef (owner?) is also really nice and offered to make me some cool off-menu items.If you are also a non-vegan that is skeptical if a vegan restaurant is worth your time, youd really be missing out to not try this place once. They arent even using animal products and they achieve better flavor and texture than 99% of other restaurants Ive been to.

This taco joint deserves a line out of the door. One of the best vegan restaurants in LA, feeling somewhat like a miniature fine-restaurant. The service was thorough and quick but not rushed, professional but not staunch. The tacos were each unique with a well thought-out combination of textures and flavors, with clear attention to plating as well, and the 3-item special was perfectly proportioned to fill but not overfill. Pricing was reasonable. Seating was spacious despite the intimate size. And finally, the decor was some of the best I’ve seen, interestingly blending traditional meso-American themes with abstract artwork, calming pastels, and images of nature. Help this restaurant be discovered!

Wow, yes!! 🔥 Fantastic flavors, fairly priced felt wrong to say but it’s average for LA, and incredibly friendly and knowledgeable service! I tried the Spicy Beach fishlike daikon taco, Esquites, and Kibis- and loved everything! I was even served some delicious salsa verde and hot blue corn chips. 🥰 They do a fantastic job of sharing traditional Yucatecan dishes fused with fresh ideas. Look out for the buñuelos! 🤤 I’ll look forward to trying more next time!

What a delicious little spot! I was super hungry and lucked out when I found this vegan delight on HappyCow. The tacos were delicious and had just the right spice, and the side of corn was so good I could’ve eaten a whole bowl of it! The loveliest vegan spot on Westwood blvd! The people here were so kind and explained all the different flavors and ingredients! We got a sample of the hummus which was so delicious and unique. I got the Phat Hass (deep fried avocado) it was very tasty. The cucumber lime Fresca was refreshing and not overly sweet. Also we had these little donut treats (shown in picture), so yummy. The atmosphere (music, video of Galapagos turtles) is VERY good. Take your date here, take your roommate, take yourself!! Go to Hijo de su Madre!!! I say so!!!

I can’t stop going back! The food is authentic while still being creative and is the perfect vehicle for the fresh and high quality ingredients to shine in. The portion sizes leave you satisfied but not overly stuffed. The place is minimal and not pretending to be anything it isn’t - to me that is a sign that speaks volumes to allow the food do the talking. The charming couple that runs the place is so endearing- a smile on their face no matter when you walk in, service that is genuine and heartfelt, with an earnest enthusiasm to have you taste the food they love to cook for you. It shows that all their heart goes into the food. I could not recommend this place for vegans and non vegans alike and will bring friends and family here time and time again. Truly a gem- the place and the people!

We were delighted by the tacos, sides, drinks, and desserts! This spot is a MUST if you are vegan (or not) in LA!! They were so nice and gave us a free dessert for waiting for a big order. All of the tacos especially the brat were amazing! We also REALLY recommend the esquites, which were so packed with flavor! The crema de coco was fresh, light, and delicious. Our only complaint was the portion sizes which could’ve been bigger, however for the quality and flavor of food you’re getting the prices are understandable. This place is a vegan’s DREAM!

Good food from a lovely couple whose family is from Merida, which has inspired the Yucatecan menu. I got a taco trio of No Stas Cochinita, Spicy Beach, and Breakfast Hash. I also tried the Sikil Pak and the Pastelitos. I like how their menu is largely whole food / non-processed with only a few mock meat options to satisfy those seeking them. Amazing vegan food for a really good price! The food here is special (Yucatecan-influenced) and I was blown away how good it was. I highly recommend it!I had the Kibis, esquites, tacos, blueberry agua fresca, and Bolis popsicle (wrapped in leaf instead of plastic). They were all very good! I have to say the Papaya Dragonfruit Bolis is one of the best desserts I’ve had in a while (limited availability though). Their Kibis is really special - I’ve never had anything like it and I was delighted how good it was!

You can tell the food is made with a lot of care and attention.Being able to make Yucatecan food vegan is no easy feat. Creamy Guac is excellent, especially paired with their above average thin n salty chips (why can’t every place perfect the chips, seems so straightforward.) This was hands down the best vegan food AND tacos I’ve ever had! I am not vegan but felt like vegan food today and I just stumbled upon Hijo de su Madre and it MADE MY DAY! I also ordered take out but then when I went to pick I up the vibe in the restaurant and the music and projector screen was just so cool that I stayed and ate. The chefs brought out a new seasonal sauce they made up of pumpkin seeds and habanero and also brought me a sample of the chovaholic smoothie which was delectable. Delicious food and free parking, what more could you ask for when dining out in Los Angeles! I ordered the phat hass, no stas cochinita, and spicy beach tacos with a watermelon mint agua fresca. The agua fresca was refreshing and the tacos had their own distinct flavors going on. The spicy beach does pack a little punch so keep that in mind if you arent into spicier foods. I enjoyed the fried daikon radish in this taco because it did remind me of fish. The other two were great as well. My friend ordered the chose three with a taco, chips and humus, and the crema de coco. I tried the chips and humus which were great. The humus was unlike any I have had before and was one of my favorite things to try here. The crema de coco was light and paired well with the addition of blueberries. This is a good place to try whether you are vegan or not!

I’ve been meaning to go since a while and ended up going tonight with only 30 minutes until closing time but they were happy to accommodate me (did not make me feel rushed at all). I love spicy food and requested for options without meat mimics and they were spot on. The burrito looked super filling and I was sure I was just going to ear half but I could not stop eating because it was soooo delicious. I am generally not a fan of quinoa and the burrito had quinoa BUT the balance between cabbage, pepita, avocado and their homemade spicy sauce was so good that I could not fault it at all! The homemade salsa and chips are really good too. I also got a mango smoothie which is super refreshing and not too sweet - you can just tell that the ingredients are so clean. I can’t wait to dig into my mashed potato empanada tomorrow - oh ya, everything looked so great I had to bring some food home with me! It’s challenging to find reasonably priced eateries with excellent food and friendly owners/staff but Hijo de su madre fits the bill. Can’t wait to visit :)

Im not vegan and I loved this place!!! Walked in around 4pm and was able to order right away. The owner is super sweet and guided me through the menu of popular items and what I could like according to my tastes. I ended up doing the (excellent option!!!) you pick 3 which is where you get to choose any 3 items from the whole menu (you can mix/match drinks/dessert/savory items...whatever you fancy - love this!!!). I went with their crema de coco (yummy coconut flan-ish dessert), Spicy beach taco (a customer favorite - spicy and very fresh tasting) and their (hopefully not) seasonal Hijos bfast taco ( so tasty and probably my favorite thing I ate here). My order came w a side of house made salsa and chips too. Everything was very fresh tasting and exploding w flavor - def would come back! As its summer, they have a watermelon mint drink thats fresh squeezed watermelon juice - the epitome of summer tastes. Really a great spot where the items they have are made in-house! Cant wait to come back and try more items (like their other popular Phat Hass taco)!Truly a hidden gem - dont miss it! Superb service and you can tell care and love goes into all their dishes! They treat the customers like they’re familia.Easy to find and ample amounts of free parking!Now let’s “taco” bout the food. If youre looking for a great Mexican dining experience, look no further. This restaurant has everything you could want, from the guacamole to the tacos. The service is also excellent. I love the food here, and Im not even a vegan. Its delicious! The couple who own the restaurant are always there running it, and they are very friendly, kind, thoughtful people. So happy we were introduced to this amazing restaurant. Every item on the menu is a unique and wondrous flavor journey. I recommend you try everything and then pick your favorites but it’s harder than it sounds. If I had to choose my top three it’d be the Phat Hass, Banh Mi, and the Mash Made in Heaven… or the Spicy Beach… or the sopas special… just too much incredible food to decide. Don’t sleep on the blueberry jicama aqua fresca, it’s bright and full of flavor. Love this place and the kind owners that give it life!

I can’t rave enough about this spot! The owners (husband and wife) are incredibly nice and the food is bursting with flavor and so unique, as it is Yucatecan-style. You can’t go wrong with the Taco bahn mi and the tangy jackfruit No stas conchita. Also, try the Agua frescas and the coconut cream desert - incredible!! Will be coming back lots.
