A solid sushi option here in Simi. I’ve come here a number of times either with friends, by myself, or ordered to-go. The inside of this place is honestly gorgeous. The only thing that is less than impressive is their “50% off” prices. It’s not really half off, the real price is the “discount”. I get why they do it, but I’m not a fan. Other than that, pretty good food and service. I love getting their baked crawfish (or scallop) roll and the spicy tuna crispy rice. Back in the day when they had AYCE sushi, I loved getting their yellow tail nigiri, basically melts in your mouth. I haven’t gotten it since they took AYCE off the menu, but I’m sure the fish is still great.

Im so disappointed in Hikari tonight. We order from here often for pick up and the service has always been sub par but we dont go for the service, we go for the food. Im highly allergic to avocado so we always make sure to order everything without avocado and I saw the crunch roll and ordered two. It doesnt say anywhere that it has avocado in it so my husband didnt think to say anything, maybe that was on us but if you dont know an ingredient is inside a roll, how can you ask to have it excluded? We normally dont complain and brush it off but tonight decided to say something. $90 isnt cheap no matter how much we order. First phone call we were strictly told that we didnt ask for it without avocado and we were out of luck. Then we checked the menu and called back, they recognized my husbands number and kept ignoring the call. We used my phone and sure enough they answered and we were told they were going to ask the chef about it, after a long hold a woman came on and told us our only option was to bring the rolls back. We live across town and have a 1 year old ready for bed. We asked if there was a note to be made on our account for future and the woman was very rude and told us bringing them back was the only option and no exceptions would be made. This could have been handled so differently especially when youre dealing with an allergy. My husband was polite, at least, as much as he could be. We will definitely be considering elsewhere in the future.

Absolutely loved our experience at Hikari. We saw several glowing reviews, and were excited to try their All-You-Can-Eat sushi. We were disappointed at first arriving at the restaurant to signs saying their AYCE was suspended due to COVID, but then we saw they were offering 50% off all their rolls to compensate. This allowed us to order a total of 6 rolls for the price of a typical AYCE, and it was definitely all we could eat haha. Every roll was delicious, and they have an extensive menu with lots of variety for every kind of sushi lover. Well definitely be returning again at some point!

This place uses the old sales trick of adding 60% to give you 25-50% off.They nickel and dime you to death.15% service charge parties of 1 to 5 people, 18% service charge for parties more than 5 people (for BAD service).Now, this wouldnt be too bad if the service and food were worth it! (Its not).Green tea is powdered and is in the bottom of the chipped cups,Chipped dishes and dinnerware.Service is RUSHED. Until youve finished eating, the waitress took forever to come and get payment for the bill, so my girlfriend took the bill to pay at the front desk.While she was doing that, the rest of us stood up. When we did, the waitres started yelling at us to sit down repeatedly and panicking about payment, even after I pointed to my girlfriend saying, Shes paying up front.And for this service you pay 15 to 18%.Maybe theyll add a resort fee and charge $1 to use the bathrooms next!The waitress was very prompt and said 25% off and 50% off every time we ordered one of those items, after the need to repeat what you wanted to order 2 or 3 times!When we go out to eat, we just want to know the price of what were ordering without the need to calculate it, and gratuity is how we show appreciation for good service.I resent paying a gratuity for BAD service, which is probably why this place makes it compulsory.Heres the scam...You order a price inflated item.They give you 25% off.Then, they add on 15% or 18% to EVERYTHING (drinks, sushi, discounted items, non-discounted items). This not only negates the discount, but you pay more than you would at a better sushi restaurant with better quality food that you can eat and drink from NON-CHIPPED dinnerware and service where you would want to give them a 20% gratuity, because they deserve it! Not this place.

This delicious sushi spot had me begging for more. First things first, it was busy, so I expected a 35 minute wait just to be seated. To my surprise we got seated in 15. Honestly had plenty of time to check out the menu before heading in. Sat down and loved the safety precautions they made. Plexy glass up between tables but still had great atmosphere. The two rolls I had, I can not remember for the life of me what they were called, but with the pictures Im goin to drop with this review it worth every minute of wait. Every flavor was perfect! Every bite was a new adventure! Go and Be Amazed!

This was the FIRST place I ever had sushi as a teen.. Now, around 15 years later, its still one of the best around! I forgot just how good Hikari is, and Im sad Ive been away so long! Theres a reason theres always a line out front at dinner time. Totally worth the wait!

Caution is advised! Tip percentages are based on the check price BEFORE discounts and taxes. This was on our receipt after we paid. My tip for you: consider paying your tips in cash and refrain from selecting the 14% option on the handheld point-of-service terminal as its really 25% for instance. Its crucial for them to provide this information prior to payment, rather than after the fact. Additionally, be mindful that some of their sushi prices are notably higher than those at other local restaurants, so dont assume youre consistently saving money. While I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, the change in ownership seems to have altered their pricing policies for the worse. It would be one thing if they generously discounted their prices by 50% compared to other restaurants, justifying a higher tip. However, they seem to have inflated their discounts to match or exceed standard market price rates in the area, essentially charging you on par or higher than other establishments.

We came here following 4.5 stars rating. All items are 50% discounted after they marked up 60%. Some weird marketing trip that force you to calculate final price. No authentic Japanese chefs, food is overlooked in deep fried oil. Service is pretty slow, and not systematic - starters are coming after main course. Finally they included service fee of 15% for family of four !!!! Why ????

I’ve dined here before and even though their staff is very rude I like the special they offer of 50% off the rolls. I placed a pick up order today for 2 Gina rolls and I noticed when I got home they had charged the rolls at $16.99 each when their price is $14.99. I just thought maybe their prices have gone up. But then I went our their website and checked the price, their menu still reflects the $14.99 price. I don’t like establishments that are not honest about their prices. Very deceitful to the customer.On top of that they expect a tip because when you pay with a card there is no option on the pad to opt out of leaving one. Very disappointing.

Some of the best sushi I’ve had in a long time. Good quality stuff. Small restaurant capacity and quite popular so there’s going to be a wait if you go during peak hours. The servers were super nice and helpful. Prices are pretty standard for sushi but definitely worth it if you choose all-you-can-eat and order at least 3 rolls. Stopped in for a bite around 3pm on a Thursday. Friendly and quick service. Opted for single meals as opposed to all you can eat and grabbed Dragon Rolls, Aloha Rolls and an Edamame appetizer. Very satisfying overall and will be back the next time were in the Simi Valley area.

Great sushi, but a lower rating because their ordering system could be better. They have no online ordering option and only 1 phone line to ring into. One of my new favorite Japanese places. We started coming here during the pandemic and will continue to eat here. They did a great job with takeout and the food was always good. They have a lot of specials, so be sure to check them out. The service is great. The servers are friendly and helpful. I live in South San Francisco and have tried MANY MANY Sushi place in the Bay Area. Although good NONE of them compare to Hikari. This place has a HUGE selection there is something for everyone. I almost dont want to write this because I consider this place a little hidden gem, to be totally honest Ive only been once and it was right when COVID started off. I sat down at the all you can eat and was the only person in the restaurant. I ordered one or two things from the menu and didnt really love them, I remember the chef was quiet, professional, and motivated. I asked him if it was possible for him to just make me things that he likes or that he would like to make, it didnt matter if it was on the menu or off of it. I would eat anything he made. After probably an hour and one of the best dining experiences Ive ever had, I tipped generously and few weeks later the world cosed. Im not sure when they reopen but Im glad to see they are I know Ill be visiting soon.

This review could have been 5 stars with better service however, my experience with has not been great at all. The food however was good. Couple issues with the service. First off, in order to get seated you need to sign your name on a board to ensure whom was there first. Normally you would think the order is pretty straight forward but apparently not as we had been seated AFTER a couple whom had just come in after us and signed up. My second gripe with this sushi restaurant is that I waited TWENTY minutes after I finished my sushi rolls for more and guess what the server never came. I eventually just went out of my way to call a server over and ask for a check. With better service this is easily a five star google restaurant as of now it is not at all. Look elsewhere or until things change. You will get similar quality sushi with better service.

Awful place rude staff. They once wouldnt let us sit down and get water because we wanted to wait 5 min til happy hour to order. There was no one else there either. Now they automatically charge a tip on your card and still ask for another tip on top of it. People dont notice and end up giving them a 35% tip. So wrong will never go back.

I love the all you can eat sushi, its pretty much always fresh! Kind of a hit or miss with the baked oysters though, (too small or not fresh). Ive had mixed encounters with the staff where they are either too busy or they dont have a good attitude. Sometimes the staff are friendly, either way, the sushi is amazing thats the only reason I keep going!

Dinner Time; Their food is excellent. The problem is if it gets too crowded they cannot manage their unlimited aspect of the sushi bar. They focus less on those who get unlimited sushi for $30 and we ended up leaving without many of the items we ordered because it took almost 30 minutes in between the first and second order. Because of this they did not complete the order from our second requested order so we walked out with some of the order not being fulfilled thus the time element of being there for an hour and 15 minutes. Total Cost: $64.33 with two unlimited sushi including tax and just water. We lost about $15.00 of that full order. Go for the food! Just be watchful when its almost full because they only watch those who place individual entrees.

I dont know why this place has good reviews. I just ordered udon and green mussels. The udon was good but the mussels were so bad they made me rethink about eating the udon. They werent cleaned properly, were overcooked, and just straight up tasted bad. I didnt eat them even though it cost me $10 just for the mussels. Seriously concerned about the quality of the seafood.

I have said I wont be back plenty of times just because of how bad the service is, however they are convenient when I work by. The food is good but low quantity, and be cautious of the prices because they will charge you dinner price even if youre in at noon. Good luck calling in for an order, they wont be able to understand you and you cant understand them and they will get angry with you. If by miracle you place an order, 10 bucks you wont get the right order.

Ever since I was 3 I have been going to this restaurant. Every year on my birthday (tradition) and as much as I can in general. This place has great staff, amazing food, and an all around nice environment for families and couples. Even after 13 years of going there, the sushi is by far the best I ever had. It has been my favorite and familys favorite for years. I recommend anyone who likes sushi and is in the area to go check it out, you wont be disappointed.

Love going here. Their rolls are delicious and the people are great!Restaurant: Good lighting, nice seating, bar area, TVs that show ball games. May feel crowded when full. When theres a birthday, they get the whole place involved and its fun.Food: Well-presented plates that are very good. If you are stumped as to what to get, there is a giant chalkboard that has the top 5 selling rolls. I personally love the Simi Roll, but I also really like the Honeymoon, Aloha and Spicy Mexican rolls. The all you can eat option is probably the best feature of this place. Really good deal for a lot of sushi.Service: When you walk in you are greeted by literally every employee. They sit you down quickly and get you started. Wait time varies on how many people are there of course, but in the times that Ive gone I didnt have to wait very long. While you eat your waiters will frequently check up on you to see how everything is and fill your water, which can get annoying to some people, but it didnt really bother me. Its kind of difficult to understand some of them, and I feel bad asking them to repeat what they said, but they were gracious to me anyways. Nice people. Had a good conversation with one of the chefs last time I sat at the bar.Overall one of the better sushi bars in Simi, definitely recommend.

We have always enjoyed this place for Sushi. They have recently upgraded the establishment with all new decorations which really look great. It appears that they have had a lot of change in personnel as well. Some items came out quickly while others came very late, or in one case never. We will be back but this trip wasnt our favorite.

Hikari has been our favorite sushi spot for a few years now but we hadnt been in a while since we moved. Since we were both craving sushi we decided to make the drive. This was out first time since they remodeled. Oh my god... the food has improved from good to great... the service was very attentive. Worst experience ever. I came here for lunch and it was pretty empty. I was told that I could not be seated because I had a baby in a stroller with me. My stroller is not big at all and my baby was fast asleep. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Sapporo Sushi is way better and I have never had an issue taking my baby with me there!

I love the sushi here, it’s possibly my favorite spot. The Golden Tiger roll is indisputably fabulous. Some of the wait staff are nice but I get an unwelcoming vibe from others. Just tried this place today after a few co workers of mine recommended the food. However my co workers did warn me the customer service here is lacking. One of the staff was rude with me on the phone when I called to check on my order & did not know my PIN number because I could not hear her when she told me it and just rushed me off the phone before I could ask her to repeat it. Disappointed in the customer service that’s a big part to consider when going places. Bu the sushi was good.

Its a little hard to find as it is off the major road (Los Angeles Ave) and just a storefront in a larger shopping center. It was pretty busy for a weeknight, probably due to the good sushi and buffet option.

Hikari Sushi does not disappoint. Of the 3 or 4 similar options nearby, I consider Hikari above the rest in terms of quality, service and pricing. I can only manage this place about once a month (or more). And each time afterwards I would be more than satiated and wishing that I had not decided to indulge. Not their fault. All mine because I cannot resist the allure of the varieties and specials. One more point of plus, their non-rice sushi are just as good if not better in some cases and does not fill you up as much. Do give them a try. And do try out some of the more whimsically named items. They rarely disappoint.

This used to be our favorite sushi place in Simi, when Johnny was the owner. All the sudden, we didnt see Johnny around, and the rolls were packed with rice and no longer as fresh tasting (dry and smelly fish). Went a few more times with the expectation that Johnny was still the owner, or that at least his cousin Jerry would be there, and if problems continued we could speak with one of them. Well, I think we just met the new owner, who couldnt have been more rude or cared less. Looks like this place is still in business based on the good name of the original owner. Really disappointing.
