How havent I tried this place already? Its pretty good! Sushi plates were all great. Chirashi don was very fresh and generous. Parking lots with enough parking. Service was very efficient and friendly.

The quality of the fish was excellent, and the portion of sushi rice was just right. The grilled skewers were tasty, with the chicken skin being particularly noteworthy, while the pork neck meat was outstanding.

This is now our go to sushi place in Redwood City. It’s been here 5 years…how are we just finding it?We sat at the sushi bar and we were very well taken care of by the guy (with great hair) preparing the sushi. We told him to surprise us and he served up deliciousness.Blue fin tuna, striped something from Japan, ocean trout, Japanese blue fish, hamachi toro, blue fin medium belly, salmon roll, San Francisco roll, another roll, salmon, shrimp nigiriI thought it was reasonably priced given what we ordered. We were there about 11:45 and we were the first ones there. We sat at the sushi bar and when we left, there were a few other occupied tables.Parking is tight.

We visited opening weekend and it was very crowded. Overall food/discuss quality is above average, and prices are average. They make up the difference with portions that are somewhat small. Tempura was good - but small. Nigiri also smaller than average. Atmosphere is very good - they did a nice job rebuilding the space from what was a Pasta Pomadoro. They have some sort of Happy Hour daily 5-6pm - but our server was unclear on the details.Given the price point and the atmosphere, Im awarding 5 stars.

***Updated review. We stopped going to this restaurant simply because their customer service declined heavily. The last 3 times we went to dine here, we were rushed out. They post their hours are open til 9pm. We would arrive at 8pm for dinner, be seated immediately, asked for our order within minutes of sitting down, all food and drinks would be on the table within 10min and the bill would be brought to our table after our first bite. Employees and chefs would stand there starring at us. And every few min someone would come by to ask if our payment was ready. They would close down the restaurant before we were done w our meal. It was quite obvious patrons are not welcome to dine closer to close time. We observed this behavior with other people who would come to dine after we arrived. This happened to us 3 times, we thought it was a fluke the first time, then the second, after the 3rd time, we stopped going there. Food is good but not that good when you have to scarf it down or take it Togo and eat in the parking lot because youre being rushed out. Thanks but no thanks.Customer service here has gone down the drain. They have Super impressed with this place. The food is fantastic and plentiful. Service is Outstanding. Our waitress remembered us from dining there a week or so ago and remembered our order. It was fascinating. we brought our 5 month old with us this time to dinner and he was warmly welcomed by the staff. They gave us a booth secluded away from all the noise of the restaurant, it was such a nice gesture. Everyone came over to see our baby and ask if they could bring us anything more. I have a gluten allergy which makes dining out a little difficult. We ordered the rib eye and bacon wrapped mochi to start. 49er roll, warrior roll, (both without sauces) spider roll and a bunch of maki rolls. They have gluten free soy sauce and make my sushi rolls GF. It was a lot of food and We were full to say the least. Delicious! Im looking forward to coming here again.

Came on friday for a late lunch and it wasnt too busy; got seated immediately and got drinks and order within a few minutes. We were just 2 and one of us had ordered the chirashidon for $16.95 (sashimi ricebowl) and the other a bento box $11.95 with teriyaki salmon and kurobuta pork katsu. The miso soups and the chirashidon came very quickly but I had to wait a bit longer for the bento box, but when it came everything was warm and delicious. I really likes the salmon teriyaki because the fish was well grilled and the sauces was delicious. The box comes with some rice and salad as well. The chirashi don was good as well, although a bit small for some. The size of the box seemed a lot better fit for the average client. We also had some hot sake and hot tea. The service was attentive and Nice, we asked several questions and got all answered. Theyve been opened for very short, but they already work pretty well, at least when not busy.Another point I wanted to touch on is the aesthetics. The restaurant looks clean and modern, And also has a space with those tables that dont have chairs around... not sure what the name for that is but Ill upload a photo. The menus are beautiful and the lunch menu comes on a wood plank, looks Nice! All the plates and cups were from the same collection. The oxymoron though,is that Hikari means light and the restaurant is rather dark, haha. Will be back to try more dishes, they have ahuge menu with nabe (hotpot style dishes) and grill skewers!

Cute, quaint, cozy and enjoyable. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated, but we were well taken care of after we sat in our private booth. Expect a 4.2 of 5 price range due to its popular Redwood City location. However, the food quality and presentation is worth the extra buck. Service was over the top!

Stopped by for happy hour. Food came out quick. The foxy roll was a little underwhelming but everything else was great! Will definitely visit again to try more menu items!
