Bad experience. One of the female staff not nice when I told her I want a Latte. She was mean and with attitude said: we dont have regular latte. And She did not recommend any drink to me . Also, it is very small shop, there is no table only some chairs. I was thinking about setting on the benches outside the shop but there were two homeless out there. Im not going anymore !
Not being a big coffee drinker, the biggest praise i can give is that the Rick Ross drink blew me away. Its got a good chocolate flavor and is perfect to have chilled. I ended up getting the can to go and enjoyed it thoroughly over the next couple of days.
The drinks are all premixed and coffee isnt really the point of the drink. It was more like chocolate milk with extra syrup, and a hint of coffee. I had the french toast with eggs and turkey bacon. That was the only good thing. The girl at the register seemed upset to be there and not approachable. She read the order so fast and didnt even say the full item-it didnt sound like words. It was a tight place. I only ordered here because I went to the library. Id suggest going to Peets thats a block away.
First timer here and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Rick Ross iced coffee and it was nice and creamy!! The cashier was really welcoming and gave us some good recommendations. Will definitely be returning once Im in the area.
Went here and got two drinks with Mom which were really expensive large drinks. It was like $15 for two drinks. On the computer app machine its like theyre forcing you to tip. I dont like this place but if you like expensive drinks then go for it. Also its really claustrophobic inside and you cant tell if people are waiting for drinks or standing in line they force you to sit outside. Also theres nowhere to indicate where you order pick up is or where you pick up your drink so its confusing.

Wooooow the yoncé is so freaking bomb!! ive definitely heard a lot about this spot from my east bay friends but never had the chance to check it out myself. the drink was perfectly sweetened (i prefer my coffee sweetened) along with a balanced amount of creaminess. the ice also didnt overpower the drink itself which happens pretty often with iced coffees ive ordered before at other spots - thinking about my drink as i write this review definitely makes my mouth water and would highly recommend you all to stop by and check this place out! additionally, a plus on this location is the fact that it is right next to the library so if i have work to do i can easily stop by, pick up a drink, and head next door. they also have a couple of benches and seats outside which is a great spot for (friend) dates, family outting, a self care day or just cause!!

Very popular, quirky local coffee shop with fun food options. Located in the Hayward Library building, with its own entrance, allowing it to open outside of library hours. The only drip coffee option within reasonable distance of Hayward. Their drop coffee and chai tea drinks are fabulous! Definitely try Ice Loves Coco and Yogi Chai.

I visit this location often, maybe twice a week, food items are always great, however what’s very off putting is the customer service. In the past two months I’ve visited lets say 10 times, and only 1 of those times have I been greeted or acknowledged. The staff is just rude! No one says hi, how may I help you, thanks for coming in. Nothing, and again the first few times I said maybe they didn’t see me or it’s just a bad morning, however it’s very clear they have no manners or good customer service. Will be trying the Union City location from now on.
If the music is so loud you can’t even hear the cashier then you have a major problem. Basic food & decent drinks.
Update: went again, the coffee was burnt and very acidic, I had to drink it black as their options were very limited. Love the flavors theyve Incorporated in to their specialty drinks. I drink decaf and there are limited options for me. Im also diabetic, so their drinks can only be an occasional treat. Many of their drinks are pre-made so there is no room for customization. Besides those issues, staff are amazing and drinks are tasty!
Staff were kind. Theres not much space so I cant imagine going here on a busy day but the service was quick and the drink was good. Bicycle coffee beans are a good choice.
Some of the most delicious coffee weve had in the Bay Area since we moved here! I got In love with da coco and was highly satisfied. The hippie vibe inside was really cool too. It was clean, quick service, delicious breakfast food too.The only reason I didnt give it a 5 star rating is because seating inside (we are at the end of covid) was nonexistent, and seating outside was very meager as well. Other than that, great location to have breakfast or brunch.

Good food! Coffee was way too sweet. (And I like sweet things...) They allow you to customize sweetness but as a first-timer, I didnt know what to expect. Wait time is pretty long so if there is a line, expect a good 20 minute wait to order and another 10-15 minutes for them to prepare your food/drink.

Just amazing. We ate there five days in a row on vacation. I tried something different each day, and it was all excellent, but youve *got* to try the ham. slow cooked, spiral sliced, full of deliciousness. Give the scones a try, and the chive spread goes with absolutely everything. If you dont check it out, youre really missing out.

We were looking to get some breakfast before the flight and found this place. The atmosphere was very happy and bright! We ordered coffee and breakfast sandwich on croissant. Everything was outstanding, the coffee and the sandwich, so we had to buy another one to share. The staff was soooo nice and friendly! This place is full of good happy vibes!
This place is amazing!! Tried it for the first time today. They moved locations and now are on C st. In Hayward. It is so much batter than Starbucks. I love there Rick Ross with Extra cream and there prices are great! Definitely recommend!

This was my first Time and Im ALREADY in love! They have quite the variety of delicious drinks especially considering the limitations quarantine is putting on all of us.The ladies who helped me were incredibly kind, helpful and friendly. Everyone should be going to Hippies Brew, rather than the big chains.
The turkey toast surprised me. Sweet bread in combination with meat... and maple sauce. I didnt eat that, maybe its my subjective opinion, but it wasnt delicious
I always come here for the Iced Mint Drip. But besides the drink, they serve really good sandwiches and snacks. The atmosphere is really welcoming, workers are easy to talk to and really friendly. Just be aware of parking, theres barely. Overall, the experience is great!
Creative and delicious drinks, made with fresh ingredients and a very welcoming staff. My only complaint is the over-familiarity within the staff. I understand playful banter, but a group of 3 or 4 was yelling over me as I was ordering, and I had to wait until they were finished yelling over me to finish my order. This is my second time here, and definitely wont be my last, as long as I have the time to wait the 10-15 minutes for my drinks (these times are based off when they got to start by drinks without anyone ahead of me). Sadly an experience like that takes away from what that have to offer, which is a beautiful ambiance with a home-kitchen vibe.
My native San Leandro friends recommended this place to me and I wasnt disapointed! Delicious coffee, the food looks great too. I love the wall art! Such a cute, little spot for enjoying brunch and a coffee. The staff are all very friendly as well. Definitely will be coming back here again.
I really like this place but the service is getting worse and worse. I called to check if they still had service and they said yes that I had 40 minutes left so I got there in less than 8 minutes and they said that the kitchen was closed. For Real!! thats why I called in the first place. 😒😒
I like this place! Its cozy, has fun music, their food looks amazing and their drinks are fantastic. (I got the Sorta Kinda Latte- yum.) However... They literally do not have charging outlets for customer use. So if youre looking for a coffee shop to do some homework at, this is not the place. Ill still be visiting again when I want to get coffee with a friend.
This place, oh, this place. The staff is super welcoming, wonderfully helpful, and efficient as heck! As for the quality of the coffee and food: Pick anything off the menu, you can’t go wrong! I have never had a bad experience at Hippie’s Brew. I have had to set personal boundaries to keep from going there daily.
Good food and great coffees! Theres always a line wrapped around the interior which may take about 15-20 min to get through. The restaurant is small with a few tables outside, but you can generally find a seat once you get your food. Stopped in just for coffee, waited in line, but it was worth it!
My boyfriend found this place while we were passing through and WOW. I’ve never had a more delicious flavored coffee drink (I got the Rick Ross). Their Mcloving muffin breakfast sandwich has chipotle aioli and it adds such a great flavor to a breakfast sandwich! I highly recommend.
Exactly what the name of the place is. Once you step in, you get the feel of being in the 1960s. Baristas are very nice, they even offered me a free cookie. Coffee was different than what Im used to. Try the mint leaf coffee. Overall, new experience and new atmosphere for a coffee shop. Ill definitely be stopping here more often. Only thing is that, sadly, the coffee shop is a bit hidden among other businesses. Also, a bit hard to see while driving, especially how fast the traffic flow is on Foothill Blvd.
Very impressive coffee and breakfast sandwich selection. The baked goods are also excellent. Blueberry scone and herb biscuit are my favorites! Lovely gem of a breakfast joint near downtown Hayward. And they were open on Easter! I love that they brew their own chai tea instead of making it from concentrate.

This place is a gem. Ive had all of their drinks and food items and they are tasty. You cant really go wrong here. All drinks can be served hot and cold and the flavors are not compremised. My personal favorite drink would have to be the Rick Ro$$ its chocolatey and not overly sweet and for food items my go to is the McLovin with the sausage patty absolutely delicious. I would like to see a location open up in San Leandro.

One of the best places for small breakfasts in Hayward. Nothing on the menu will disappoint you. For the veggies, they offer almond and almond/coconut milk. Lines can be long so go early it be prepared to wait. (Wait is worth it.)

I had never heard of this place until my hair cut guy pointed it out. I went here for just the intent of grabbing a coffee, having a conversation for a few minutes and leave. That was done smoothly, and easily because there was not to many people inside this small building, and the coffee experts made the coffee in a good amount of time.The drink selection took me a little while to pick from because there menu was just a little scattered for my liking but that doesnt mean I couldnt find something I wanted. I found multiple drinks I wanted and got feedback from the staff on what drink I would like the most.Drink was fantastic and my friends drink was even better.The only complaint is how small the building is, but you just have to get comfortable sitting close to people!Would highly recommend this place if you want some great coffee!

And I mean REALLY long, so I typically come on a Sunday when Im not pressed for time. Best coffee experience in the east bay. Drinks are named after popular culture icons like: the Yonce, the White Iverson. My favorite is the Im in love with the coco. Can have a really long wait during the weekend but worth the wait for sure. Food is good as well. Ham for Miss Piggy is like thanksgiving ham.
Ive been going here off and on for the last couple of years. Yes their food and drinks are amazing. I would love to give them five stars for that alone but what Ive noticed is a general decline in customer service over the time that I have been going to HB.If you decide to go, make sure you have time to spare. THIS IS NOT IN-N-OUT. Especially if there are a handful of people there in line ahead of you. Expect a minimum 30min just to get your drink.We were there yesterday and 5-6 drinks were ordered ahead of us and I literally watched the barista wait for two tea drinks to steep before starting any others. Pretty sure she could have made 2 more iced drinks while those teas were going but Im no barista so I could be absolutely wrong.On top of that the workers generally seemed to be in hangout mode since the people who ordered ahead of us were their friends.Like I said, the food and drinks are great. Just dont expect speed or too much customer service.
Hippies Brew is definitely one of my favorite coffee shop. Any time I am in the area, I have to go get myself some coffee from here (honestly, sometimes I get myself two cups).My favorite is the Iced Mint Drip. They put the mint into your cup so the flavor is strong and fresh. I always get it semisweet which is just the right amount of sweetness.

I got a sweet specialty coffee and.... wow!! Theyre doing something special here that ive never experienced at another coffee shop. Just divine. (Im usually take my coffee black.) Earns a 5 star rating.
Was hoping this shop would be my specialty coffee spot in Hayward, since their whole deal seems to be good coffee that you dont have to go to oak/berk for. Not really the case. Theyre much more restaurant-y than coffee bar-esque, which is fine in and of itself. But as a coffee shop, I was disappointed to find that they dont serve espresso, and really the only specialty offering they have is pourovers. That all said, the pour over they made me was not too shabby and I enjoyed it.
A spirited little place with lots of character, I chose it as a midway meeting point between Silicon Valley and Berkeley. The food menu is creative with simple ingredients, nice combinations and good preparation. The coffee menu is superb, I had the peppermint patty: medium roast (instead of dark) with cocoa powder (a bit like a mocha), with fresh peppermint, á la mint tea, cream and sweet ground candy sprinkle! It was fantastic and I ended up ordering another one for the drive home!Service is super friendly and the barista, the sandwich maker and the other guys working there are super friendly and chatty.Overall the Hippies Brew made for a very interesting meeting place and a pleasant lunch, coffee and ambient. Will definitely stop by if going that way!

Gangsters paradise is where its at. I really wish I could give it five stars, but the service is TERRIBLE. Dont go there unless you have a half hour to kill and are feeling very very patient. Last time I was in there there were three people in front of me and it took 15 minutes to place my order.

Saw that this place was near my school and I noticed it popping up on my IG fed pretty frequently, so hey I tried it out. Its across from a donut place. They serve breakfast sandwiches, bagels, pastries, and coffee. I tried the mint drip and I can compare it to the Philz famous Mint Mojito. I like the one here way better!Theres a good vibe when you walk in, the menu is written on skateboards and the seats are cool and theres a wood feel and a bold vibrant hip theme going with it. Very small, but a nice place to go too. Staff was super friendly!

Its small and a bit on the cramped side. Attached to the Hayward Library, I personally found it to be expensive and not as cute or cozy as other reviewers have stated. But Cest la vie, to each their own!
Coffee here is great but theres always something to deal with, I show up and all of the sudden the only accept cash then today I show up and theres a sign on the door saying theyre closed. If they are open and you do have the correct currency expect to wait at least 30min for your coffee.
This place is great! The hot breakfast sandwiches are off the hook! We had the freakin french toast and the chedda BAYcon sammie. Both were incredible. There are many choices for coffee and what we saw looked great.

French press coffee was ready in one minute... Impossible unless it was brewed previously. Also, coffee was weirdly acidic, beyond any reasonable difference caused by an unusual roast or blend. Drink names all pretty much hinging on pop culture was another turn-off. While in the store, I didnt see a traditional drip brewer, French press, or any other method of making the coffee, which I ended up dumping shortly after leaving. For some reason, even though it was high 60s outside, they had the heat cranked up to at least high 70s inside.
Staff is super friendly and the owner is a cool and knowledgeable person. Any questions about what you should get, just ask. They dont even need a menu because theyll recommend the perfect drink for you.

This cozy coffee shop has such a lively atmosphere. The art on the walls, the names of their menu items, the dancing baristas and the games and books they have on the shelf are just a few of the special characteristics this place has. My favorite drink is the “Rick Ross” and I love several of the food items. Every experience I’ve had has been wonderful!
I get a plain black coffee every shop I visit and this joint was by far the most pricey so far lol staff was very nice though but I question their sanitary practices
This place was not what i was expecting. The food was really good, its a small place but definitely worth visiting. The seating encourages people to talk, and the food is generous and you can watch them make it. I would go back if i was in Cali again

Small hole-in-the-wall coffee shop with a hippy theme. Run by amazing people, I went with friends who were new and who didnt like their Starbucks (go figure) and they got free coffee (its called the Homie Hookup). Hey, cant start your day with crap coffee were our hostesses exact words, and oh so true! The coffee is amazing with dozens of choices, I recommend the Yonce or the White Iverson. They also offer a selection of teas and food like sandwiches and scones. If I could live there, I would.

The sugary drinks are fine, but its very difficult to get regular coffee that isnt loaded with sugar, since the coffee drinks are generally pre-mixed.

My daughter just got a job here. We have eaten there a few times and each time the crowd was great, energy was real smooth and the Environment was close to perfect.
This place is closed without a reopening date per the sign on the door/window. apparently it has flooded twice. My wife said shes tried coming here 3 times in the past and that it has always been closed.
I order the penguino coffee with almond milk and was really bad experience also order your mommas cinnamon toast and was BURN!!... coffee in home was 10 times better than that. sorry but I never recomend this coffee place

You have to try this place at least one time I dont know much about coffee but the sandwiches are excellent super down-to-earth place and service once you try it youre guaranteed to come back treat yourself treat yourself
Normally don’t like sweet coffee, but this stuff is amazing. They make it easy to control sweetness, which I appreciated.
I wouldnt recommend, way way over priced, no seating inside or out, order outside and wait outside in the freezing cold for ever, they are so SLOW, I had never waited so long with like only 2 ppl waiting as well in my life.

The sorta kinda latte is my favorite! It has like cinnamon and nutmeg in it, and it tastes like coffee ice cream.

I actually found out about this place because a customer found my dog (we had just moved nearby and she got out, I was looking all over for her) and the manager called me to let me know! They were nice enough to offer me a sample that day of Gang$tas Paradise and it blew my mind and made my day, on top of finding my dog. So this is now Navi and my favorite spot to get coffee in Hayward now! Theres a lovely park across the street where you can enjoy your morning coffee.

2022-05-30 13:00:38Outstanding coffee and customer service from Aleksandr K.Pretty small location with an order station or pickup station for delivery services. Plenty of outdoor seating or a beautiful park across the street. Only non dairy they have is oat milk. Asked Aleks what vegan options and he recommended the Sorta Kinda Latte that has oat milk sweet cream and he ordered the iced mint drip. Fast service. I blinked and our order was done.

In front of the coffee shop there are a few tables where you can sit outside. I was told that their Union City locations have indoor seating.The coffee menu doesn’t offer the usual coffee that you may be used to at a regular coffee shop. All the drinks sound very interesting. We ordered iced I’m in Love with da coco which has a nice creamy coconut flavor topped with crunchy coconut flakes. The second drink is Kinda Sorta latte. This one we ordered hot. It has a nice cinnamon flavor. Both coffees are smooth and creamy with lots of aroma and flavor. Very delicious

Its small but always busy, so Id thought Id stop by on my way home one Saturday.Their menu items are named after musical artists, which is kinda cool, being a lover of music. I ordered a Yonce and Purple Rain and both are pretty sugary. Honey drinks tea and she had to dilute the Purple Rain. They both were good, but the sugar content was high.We also had the Mclovin Muffin and the Freakin French Toast. The breakfast was great. Lots of flavors and cooked just right.The staff was friendly and attentive. 3 stars because of the sweetness of the drinks. Its great for a specialty drink on occasions but not a daily go-to.

2021-08-21 15:20:15The names for their drinks drew me in immediately! I was initially going there for a Rick Ross but was compelled to try the McLoving Muffin as well. Let me tell you, this was a match made in heaven! The sweet iced cinnamon coffee paired with the pork sausage, egg & cheese sandwich married beautifully & will get this again. The artwork all over the restaurant and the windows is magnificent. I highly recommend anyone in downtown Hayward to check this place out. It’s located right at the bottom of the library. You need to go there today!

Got a mint one and the white iverson and highly recommend. More on the sweeter side and playful side but I really enjoyed it. Not something I would want to drink every day because its probably loaded with some syrup or sugar but really delicious.Coffee: 8/10Food: 5/10Vibes: 5/10Service: 6/10

2020-02-05 23:00:43This little shop is right next to the Library. I went as I was in town, close to Hayward, and decided to try it out!I had the McLovin Muffin and a Caprisun! Both delivered! The menu is very creative and has some funny references as names. It is very small inside, but there is also extra seats outside. It was busy when I was there, but the environment is amazing and lots of people took their pets as well!Give it a try!
