The location was fine. Rooms are a bit outdated and beds and pillow were uncomfortable. Air conditioning didn’t work very well which made it hard to sleep since I was terrible hot. Staff was nice but hotel could use some updates
No hot coffee at checkin. Outlets in room did not hold plug in. Shower was awkward with toilet location and made it dangerous when exiting wet. All furnishings were well worn down and in need of updates.
Great place to lay your head for the week ! Pool ! Hot tub! Breakfast! And gym! Barbells 15lbs-50lbs plus treadmills and weighted balls . Gym rooms kinda small though
Positive: The hotel room was spacious and clean. Definitely met expectations. Negative: The shower didn¿t have a full door or shower curtain, there was half of a glass wall and water for all over the floor outside of the shower.
We have stayed at this property a few times, and each time we have stayed, we have always had great service from the staff. The rooms are always clean and updated. It is VERY close to the beach, stores and food options.
Positive: The stay was horrifying. Negative: This was a ¿bottom shelf¿ Reservation. After walking into the room I was ready to run. The room had a strong mildew smell. The AC was loud and blowing out a moldy stagnant air. The toilet had a foreign speck of blood or fecal matter on the base.
Best choice around, great value, and good location. Restaurant choices limited nearby. Could use a bar lounge. Rooms clean and comfortable. Staff friendly.
Positive: Location Negative: We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times. It does appear that the hotel needs to be cleaned up more...the carpets were dirty and there were no lotion or misc. items normally found in the bathroom. Breakfast was not desirable. The oatmeal was watery.
Hotel is ok. Good staff. Breakfast we didn’t try. But Port Hueneme is rather unspectacular. Tucked between the navy garrison and the container port. There is no live. Rather go to Oxnard or to Ventura if you want some live.

Walking distance from the beach. We rented a bike for 4 from the hotel and rode to the beach. Slept well and a good breakfast before we head out. Gilbert at the front desk was friendly & super helpful!!
Everything was great--food, location, friendly staff, and great pillows. The shower was hard to turn on, without getting hit with cold water to begin with, since the shower wall is not movable. That was the only issue.
Old hotel in Port Hueneme, rooms are in good condition and everything is clean but it is a little outdated. Location is great, very close to naval base, Oxnard and plenty of restaurants within 15 min.
The carpet was wet throughout or room and it made the room humid and hard to breathe. Windows cannot be open. Breakfast was okay. Bathroom had mold and the shower does not have curtains or a door so water goes everywhere. I did like that its walking distance to the beach and you cant hear the traffic if you have the fan on.
Not worth the money. Hallways are noisy. you can hear every footstep from the floor above you. My room was musty and smelly. Rooms are very dated and furniture was uncomfortable. front desk help was lacking. clerk was wearing a mask wich is fine but nobody could hear her and she got an attitude. I would have left but just finished a 14 hour day and wanted a shower and sleep so I settled and stayed
We appreciate being a Platinum member of IHG and the quality of service and accommodations we usually receive. I dont know if the hotel clerk was just having a bad day, or if she is usually this unkind and unhelpful, but her professionalism was not what we usually see at your hotels.
Its all about the beach....miles of sand....peaceful community...excellent seafood on the boardwalk.. all one block from your room. Dan the Pizza man is across the street (5*s)

Although it’s not a bad place to stay it it’s really showing its age and the lack of effort the owners have toward keeping it fresh. Otherwise, only a drop in the room rate could justify staying in this old gal!
We stayed here after our channel island trip to relax before head back home. Energy saving light made the room very dark and depress feeling. Noise room air conditioner. Bad smell from carpet. Lack of breakfast food choices. This hotel is below average standard of holiday express that we had stayed in the past.
The room was comfortable, and the temperature was perfect for a full nights sleep. I was able to wake up early, energized and ready for a full day. I grabbed a coffee and walked about 8 minutes to the beach and enjoyed the morning alone while the kids and husband were sound asleep, after an evening in the pool.
Old hotel but well maintained. Room was clean and spacious. I loved it generally. Especially location is perfect. I recommend here if you plan to visit Port Hueneme.

Quiet, clean and only ONE BLOCK from the railroad crossing seen at the end of Back to the Future III! Its two blocks from VFW and a straight shot to the base gate.The breakfast is perfectly good, and there are only two issues I had: (a) the fluffy pillows de-fluff as soon as my head hit them, as if theyre filled with something resembling cotton candy. Bring your own pillow and, if you cant, be ready to stack several; and (b) I dont know what architect thought it was a good idea to pave the entry with cobblestone, but luggage carts dont do well on that stuff. At all. This is a case wherein function should override aesthetics.Otherwise, a great stay.
My wife and I stayed here 4 nights to visit the channel islands. Good value overall.Pros:-Very clean-Helpful and responsive staff-Standard holiday inn hot breakfast ready on time every morning-quiet area-blackout curtainsIssues:-we could feel the coils in the mattress and they were very uncomfortable for us-The king room we were in had a hallway door that barely closed and left large gaps, and the adjoining kick-off door had large gaps underneath.The staff was really kind and moved us to another room that had fewer maintenance issues.If you arent a sensitive sleeper, this hotel is a really good choice
Location of the hotel is great because it is near a lot of shops and centers that are fun to visit as well as it is near the port which is fun to visit. Breakfast was really good and my room was always super clean.
Love coming to this hotel. Walking distance to the beach. Lots of food places nearby burgers, tacos, pizzas etc. Pho Saigon Vietnamese restaurant is an excellent place to eat if u like Asian food. The Navy Base is closed by. Alot to see here when you stay @ this hotel. Service is great & hotel price is reasonable & affordable.
Good location. The breakfast is a bit of a letdown due to better experiences I have had in the past at other locations, but it gets the job done. The fitness center is cramped but overall adequate.
Not sure some of these complaints. I travel a bunch and I had no issues with anything. Clean rooms, clean beds, comfortable beds, clean towels. Staff was all nice and answered questions. Id come back here anytime.
I choose this hotel because it is very accessible to the beach. The price is decent as well as breakfast. Room is average but the TV is small. Hope they will upgrade the TV size on my next visit. The lobby needs remodeling. Ive been checking this hotel for the last ten years and definitely needs upgrade. Also another thing, I was not recognized as an Ambassador member. IHG offered me to be an Ambassador member and deduct 40,000 points on my reward but I dont see any difference. Being Ambassador member is a fluke.
Driving back to Bay Area from SoCal, nice near (walkable) Ocean stopover. Very clean, friendly, nice breaky, spacious.
Room was comfortable and clean. I appreciated that breakfast was available. Staff was pleasant in the mornings. The hvac in the room worked well. I will stay there again.
Positive: The only good about this hotel is the location being very close to the beach . Negative: The hotel is older but clean . The breakfast was awful, and the beds were horrible!! Extremely uncomfortable beds didn¿t receive bedding for roll away and sofa beds . Then our toilet stop working wouldn¿t fix and mgr never called me back!
The front desk staff was amazing and very helpful. They were a joy to talk to. Knowledgeable of the area. Gave me good directions to places I needed to go and pointed out where I could get a good burrito...LOL Ms. Patty, in particular, is definitely an asset to the team. I really enjoyed my time talking with her. Friendly, Outgoing. Made my stay fun!
We were able to use the meeting room space for our scrapbooking needs. It was very nice that the door locked so that we felt that our things were safe. The staff kindly replaced our water daily. There was a good variety of tables and sized to meed our needs.
It is a bit out of the way, but the best option in terms of price enroute to Santa Barbara. The hotel is very clean, front desk efficient an pleasant, and room big. I was impressed by the quality of the towels since they were way better than average HIE standard. Breakfast area is a little bit cramped. In the morning, the view outside the window is very pleasant. I opt to leave window half open overnight instead of AC and it was not an issue.
It was a good stay. I was visiting my fiancé while he was on military leave. We enjoyed our stay and was able to try out the breakfast which I wished they changed the menu everyday. Our check in and check out went by smoothly. They had also cleaned our room quite nicely while we were away. The staff was kind. They always greeted us politely whenever they saw us. Overall would definitely come back here when the prices fits the quality.
The hotel location was great. We appreciated the easy walk to the beach and local restaurant. The hotel itself was very quiet. We felt like we were the only ones there but the parking lot filled up each evening so there were plenty of other guests.
We stayed for one night driving back home from LA. This location is not that far off the freeway. There is a beach close by and a few restaurant options. The next town, Oxnard, is close by and has more options. The hotel was in decent shape and the lobby area looked recently remodeled. However, I room was a little bit dated.

We love this hotel. We have stayed here 3 times in a few years for events in the area. This last time we came we 6 of our friends who also got rooms, 2 in each room. My last stay I was recovering from Cancer treatment and the staff was very accommodating at the breakfast buffet when traveling to this area I will always stay here.
The location is great. A short, easy walk to the beach and right down the street from the Naval Base. The staff was polite. My biggest complaint is the breakfast items were cold. They need a better way to keep the food hot.
My stay at Holiday Inn Express exceeded my expectations. My wife really liked the comfortable bed. I enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices which were delicious with good coffee. It was clean and neat can conveniently close to the beach.

The employees was very nice and was able to upgrade me when I got there. The room was very nice. The shower got water all over the floor and did not have as much water pressure as some other hotels but was able to take a shower
We stayed for one night and had great service, the hotel was clean but what really surprised me the most was the fact that I had no issues checking in early and getting our room before the 3 pm check in time. It wasn’t by much but so many hotels or front desk personnel will not allow you to check in early and give you your room w/out paying an extra night or fee. Having been in traffic with a 2 y/o for our drive there, that was a happy surprise.
The beds are clean and comfortable. I am able to sleep at this facility; this is not always the case in other hotels. The staff are friendly and helpful and accommodating. The breakfast menu is varied and the food is great!
The hotel staff was very nice and helpful, the rooms were clean and they had a microwave and a refrigerator. Breakfast was good and had vegetarian options. The wifi was not very good, the TV worked but the TV guide was not accurate and you couldnt connect laptop to TV. The ventilation in the bathroom did not work and the room smelled like mildew. The fire sprinkler was corroded and rusted, and might not be reliable.
The decor was dated but the entire place was very clean. I enjoyed very professional and attentive customer service staff as well as terrific kitchen attendants. The food itself really seemed better than say other locations Ive stayed in.
We really liked the location of the property, which was only a 5-minute walk to the beach. There were also a few restaurants that were within walking distance as well. The room itself definitely felt outdated. The AC didnt work all that great, and it didnt smell great either. The gym felt like an afterthought. It was located in a cramped room on the 3rd floor with no AC, just a small fan. The jacuzzi was really nice, though. Checkout was at 11am but the front desk allowed us to extend it until 12pm. While we were packing around 11:30am, someone opened our door real quick and then shut it. It was probably housekeeping thinking that we had already checked out. It wasnt a big deal (they shut the door so quickly that we didnt even see who it was) but it would have been nice if they had knocked first.
Overall stay was relaxing. The hotel is walking distance from the beach. The pool is very small but go to the beach.Breakfast had a variety of food for the kids; pancakes, cereal, and cinnamon buns. Eggs, biscuits, and gravy was on the menu as well.
My family and I stayed during Labor Day weekend. We were pleasantly surprised at this gem of a hotel. We stayed in the Deluxe King Suite and the room was very clean. We all enjoyed all the choices available for the complimentary breakfast, especially my children.The location was awesome too, only a 6 minute walk to the beach!! They even had bicycles for rent at the front desk! I loved being able to ride to the beach and lighthouse early in the morning. The kids enjoyed the outdoor pool as well and my husband and I loved the hot tub!We all enjoyed our stay so much that we will most likely return to this hotel the next time we are in Port Hueneme!
Great rooms with microwave and refrigerator. And, the interactive TV allows you to cast from your phone, view your reservation and bill, and even check out. Very nice!
The staff were all rockstars and really made my family feel at home for the week long stay. I called a few hours before arrival and was lucky to change our reservation since we were now arriving a day earlier than expected. The staff also made sure we had a crib in the room with lots of baby bedding options. Most hotels lack such accommodations.Our room was clean and everything worked just fine, no issues.The hotel had good control on enforcing Covid precautions and signage was displayed at appropriate areas including eye level height at elevators. The location of this hotel is superb! Just a short walk and you are right in the beach. No traffic or hectic tourist to fight for a space on the beach. Plenty of local food within walking distance as well. Computers and printers available for guest use was really convenient. The gym reservation was another great piece of thos stay.
I had a pleasant time staying at this location due to the comfortable rooms and good breakfast. One thing I had an issue with was the bathroom had an open shower which made for a messy time but other than that I had a great stay.
Non-smoker room smelled like water damage and smoke. We were supposed to stay for two days but my 1 year old daughter broke out in hives and could barely breathe after the first night. She also had dirt stains all over her clothes from crawling on the floor. The outside of the hotel is not in great shape either. The front desk did not care at all. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Spend your money somewhere else.
The suite is spacious, comfortable and clean. The heaters worked well and were quiet. The easily accessible and free parking is a great feature.
Our go to for a week-long Thanksgiving stay in Port Hueneme because of the walking distance to the beach. Had to request a room change the first night which was accommodated. A few things made the stay less then desirable. 1) All of the lamps in the room with electric plugs have seen better days. Hard to find the right plug to work for charging our electronics. 2) We also stay at HIE for the breakfast; however, in the week we stayed, scrambled eggs and turkey sausage were the only hot items offered.....everyday. The pancake machine was out for a couple days and quickly put away when there was no more batter. No chocolate milk available. Clearly not the standard we are used to for more than one day stays at a HIE. 3) The hotel is in dire need of some improvements, lots of carpets and area rugs are soiled and updates to rooms sorely needed. One shining star, the breakfast lady Mineti (hope thats correct) was out every day and ensured that all the food was available. She was constantly cleaning/tidying up areas for our safety. One of the hardest workers we have ever seen at a HIE.
It was my first time in this area. I chose this hotel for a 6 day stay due to proximity to work. The rooms are your basic hotel room. But it’s is walking distance to the beach, which I liked. The staff was very friendly, except for Gilbert the front desk manager.The staff was gracious enough to accommodate my breastmilk in their kitchen freezer since the in room fridge was not cold enough. Gilbert wasted 20 minutes of my time the day before check out going back and forth trying to get me to take my milk out. He apparently did not trust his staff enough to open the fridge for me before departure. This would have cause about 100oz to spoil. Thankfully the housekeeping manager had more common sense. If it wasn’t for that interaction I would have had no issues with my stay and maybe would have been a return guest.
Husband and I enjoyed our night here and really had no complaints. We loved the location as it felt slower here than where we drove from and the beach was so close. Checking in and out was fast and our room was clean with everything we needed except toothbrush/ toothpaste which we purchased at Walmart. We appreciated the cable tv although we were hoping we can stream our Netflix shows from our laptop. We also appreciated the breakfast we had considering many of the other hotels did not have any hot food options because of Covid. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
The staff was all very friendly here and accommodating! The night male employee and Eileen (Security) were amazing and went above and beyond to help me. If it weren’t for their advice, I would’ve missed my flight! I will come back again on my next trip!
The staff was friendly and efficient upon check in, check out, breakfast service, and basically always. I changed rooms mid-stay as a family member joined me and the staff ensured an easy transition for me and my guest. I found the room clean and the bed comfortable.
Although this hotel is outdated, it is still clean. Disappointed with the breakfast. It was the same scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, biscuits and gravy for my entire stay (four days)!! Why couldnt you alternate with some bacon and omelettes? Staff was professional and friendly.

We were in town, for nephews wedding. Very nice hotel, great staff! Our room was spacious, spotless, and very quiet. The breakfast room was definitely large enough, for all. The offerings were enough, to get us going, on the road. I would surely stay at this hotel, again!

Hotel is clean but old. Also there was a huge loud party on the same floor where we stayed and we had even asked the front desk to put us where it was quiet. Also there were what looked to be drug addicts using the bathroom near the breakfast area. This was quite unsettling
Our stay at Port Hueneme was so nice! The location of the hotel is great, only one block from the beach and a short drive from the shops. The front desk staff were so personable and helpful, answering all of our questions about the surrounding area and the hotel’s facilities. Would definitely stay here again!
Safe locality. Room was clean. Employees were friendly. The pool was great and we got fresh new towels and dryer was good as well.Good to have Pizza Man Dan’s at a walkable distance.Breakfast can be better for vegetarians.

Just a short walk to ocean (maybe ¼ mile) and you can get some hot breakfast items again now too!Everything is just about back to normal, great place to stay near the beach. Not quite as many breakfast items as before? But still a good selection and a fairly quiet, welcoming place. Often see Navy personnel here as base is nearby.
Been here a couple times and I love almost everything about it. Location, my personal opinion is sweet. All that beach and sunshine in a quaint city. Cleanliness is spot on and the front staff are great people. I always get great service when I visit. Thank you Holiday Inn, I should get a rewards program for future room perks because I plan to use your type of establishment much more often in the future.
If I could give a 0 star I will. They had major kids coming in a group And basically did not take care of the rest of the whole Guest in the hotel. Very noisy whole throughout the lobby area until the 3rd floor. Absolutely the receptionist did nothing and I spoke to the manager in the morning of course she didnt really apologize much what can she do? She suggested giving points back for apologies but she did not even ask what my membership number is, which means she was gonna do nothing. Even without the noise issues . The hotel was very outdated. The breakfast only Were only mediocre at best. This is the worst spent money for any hotels recently. I wont return to this hotel and I would not recommend to anybody around me
A lil high priced rooms nice close to beach friendly staff for most part. Lady answering the phones that day was extremely rude. But the rest of the staff was nice. Kind bed super hard, but queen beds in other rooms were soft. Free breakfast was really nice! Would stay here again, just wish was a lil cheaper. Especially bc my family had 5 rooms booked in the hotel for this weekend. All of which were at least 2 nights except for me.

Very close to great places to eat and local places to visit.The neighborhood is quiet, nice.The rooms are clean, bathrooms decent size,suite good sized.I turned on the hot water and got hot water immediately, didnt have to run it to warm up.Theres continental breakfast,which is ok,but plenty of nearby breakfast options to bike,walk or drive to.
Despite having a 3 year old and 8 month old, this vacation was very enjoyable. The room was clean, the complimentary items were great, and it was quiet! So many hotels we have stayed at are noisy. You can hear every door slam, the rooms next door and the stomping down the hall. It was relaxing. I didnt have to stress about other people waking up the baby. Breakfast was fast and easy. Parking near the beach is not something I look forward to, but they had convient and abundant parking. We could see our car from the room, which was nice. Overall it was a great experience and we will be returning!
Very close to this friendly beach. Set up chairs and enjoyed fish and chips on the beach from the nearby restaurant. The staff was very friendly. Will try the rental bikes or 4 wheel Surrey fun cycle. Wendys was one block away. Very convenient! The property was a bit old but well kept. The only complaint would be the constant mechanical noise.
Comfortable room; hotel was easy to locate and parking is free. Breakfast was included and was fine, but a few more choices would have been appreciated. Perhaps more coffee in the rooms (there were two of us staying and there was only on regular and one decaf coffee servings in the room). Otherwise it was quiet and the beds were extremely comfortable.
We had such a pleasant stay. The suite was perfect. It was quiet. The pool area was nice. Walk to the beach, lots of places to eat... One thing, there could have been more coffee pods. We went out and bought some. If you are a coffee drinker and dont want to go downstairs just for coffee in the morning, you might want to bring some K-cups.
The hotel staff was friendly. Everything looked clean. Updates to the property was appreciated but it is an older building. Location was great for touring around. AC unit was a bit noisy and turned off and on often but other then that, fine. Maybe bring ear plugs if you are a sound sensitive sleeper and need the AC on to regulate temperature.
Overall a great stay. This was our second time staying at this property. The rooms are clean and well-kept. The lobby is clean and modern. The only issue I personally have (with most hotels not just this one) is I want to see organic and vegan choices for breakfast. I ended up bringing my own food to the breakfast room and my husband ate from theirs. It is a nice breakfast room; the staff= friendly and attentive. Pool and hot tub area is well kept as well.

No even local channels! Hotel is very well located ( 2 blocks from beach ) just need some upgrades ! Thank you !
The staff is friendly if a tad inexperienced. Im six feet three so I booked a king bed and when we arrived we were given a Queen bed, two Queen beds to be precise. The hotel is clean but everything is old. The elevators are old, the carpet throughout the hotel should be on life support, the walls are paper thin so at 4:30 am we were awoken by a couple making love in the next room but luckily for us, he was not a good lover. I like Holiday Inn but this one was the worst Ive ever stayed in.
This hotel is in a convenient location. It definitely shows its age and is in need of an update. The rooms smell old and musty. Staff is friendly, in todays day and age thats a plus.
The hotel location was great, a short walk to the beach. Check-in was great and the staff was friendly. The hotel featured a pool, a workout room, and breakfast options in the morning. We utilized most things during our stay.There were some bike rentals at the front of the hotel. We didnt use them but that was a great option.
The Hotel is nice. The staff is excellent and very helpful although the hotel is very close to the beach 1-2 blocks away there are other beaches in the area that are much better, and cleaner. there are some good restaurants near by, and the navel base is very close.The room is big but they lack storage the dresser only has two drawers thats ok if your staying only a day or so but we were there for 12 days the bathroom does not have a sink but there is one just outside the bathroom, however there should be at least a counter in the bath room. The pool area is small and bland needs some color, music, and more life.The pool itself is small but useable as is the hot tub. Overall our stay was very pleasant and we loved the staff. would definitely stay here again thank you
Our stay was for leisure and it was fine. The bed wasn’t too comfortable but the room was clean and staff was friendly. Breakfast selection was decent, but I recommend going on the earlier side.
The rooms are always in working order, clean and comfortable. The staff is courteous at all times and maintain there professional attitudes even when under pressure to solve any issues, A truly great place to stay!

The pool and hot tub were very nice and heated pool for the family. Comfortable pillows and beds. Breakfast was good. My son was hoping for a waffle in the morning. Very close to the beach.i would recommend and visit again.
The hotel staff were professional, friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable staying here. I was impressed to have an outstanding breakfast with so many different choices of food and the quality of the food was super. The swimming was nice. the surrounding hotel yard was very well groomed. When I needed to rent a car the staff was very helpful. the room was super clean and he internet worked great. I will stay at the Holiday Inn Express in the future and will highly recommend to my family and friends to stay here.
Decent hotel for this area. Our main complaint was that the room service staff didnt make the bed but replaced our towels. Otherwise, the breakfast was adequate and we had a nice stay. Thank you!
This Holiday Inn was fantastic. The staff was very warm and helpful. Breakfast was tasty with omelet patties, ham slices, and biscuits/gravy, as well as the usual cereals/juice. I was given a room upgrade I believe and it was so nice to have the extra space. It took just a few minutes to walk to the beach and pier. Nice location. The only thing was the floor was a tiny bit bouncy when someone was running on the treadmill in the fitness room, as our room was next door. The room was spotless and had a nice shower. The pillows were soft and fluffy, with choices of soft or firm.
Hotel was easy to check in and out. Room was clean and cool. A 5 minute walk to Port Hueneme Beach.The breakfast was terrible. Decaf Coffee was not fresh and tasted sour. Eggs were in a pouch not fresh. Only fresh fruit was a red apple. Toaster, jelly and cream cheese available but no bagels or toast. Did have muffins that were cold and hard. No evening happy hour/manager reception like most holiday inns offer.
Guest rooms are spacious and have been remodeled. Breakfast selection is amazing and bkfst area is spacious and inviting. Pool area is a bit small but still perfect. Modern. Clean outdoor furniture making the pool experience perfect for families. Our kids loved it! Kudos to the housekeeping staff for working hard, the rooms were clean! Breakfast attendant could use some HIE attire or at least a name tag and training on customer service and the IHG way. She never smiled in fact, she seemed bothered. Over amazing overnight stay. I will be back and will recommend others!
Our accommodation was great. The bed was comfy and everything was clean. The only problem was one of the staff in the front desk. She was difficult to talk to because she was not approachable. I feel that I was bothering her rather than being eager to help a customer. I never got her name but she had dark hair and a little short. Please fix your attitude. Other than that, everything was great.
Staff was friendly and helpful but the rooms were dirty. My rooms smoke detector was covered in paper. Breakfast was alright. Eggs and bacon for the most part. Would have been nice to have a better selection of fruit and vegetables. The fitness room was tiny and had a broken weight bench making it hard to use. The fire alarm went off multiple times one night around midnight. Not sure why, but the front desk said there was no need to evacuate. Nice proximity to a beach. Overall all the good and bad kinda averaged out.
This was a great hotel for our vacation by the beach. The room was clean, as well as the whole hotel. Staff was wonderful, very knowledgeable and helpful. And the breakfast was great everyday, always enough food and tasty.A few things need updating. The elevator is old, creeky and the elevator floor bends in a few spots. Also, in our room the air conditioner left a continuous musty smell in the room, and the bathroom fan does not vent which always left the bathroom warm and moist.Other than that, we still enjoyed this hotel very much. Would definitely stay again!
The staff are great, the bed is comfortable, and the breakfast is good. The room is clean.Downside- the air conditioner did not work very well, the room was too humid, the windows do not open (which they should especially with the virus), and the toilet was so low it was made for a child. One should not have to do a squat to go to the bathroom. Seriously, a higher toilet can be purchased and installed for minimal price, especially for customers with arthritic knees.
Ideally located next to Naval base & close to beach. Rooms were large with plenty of space to spread out. Overall a very comfortable inviting atmosphere with a very friendly professional staff, standby by to assist with your needs and request.
This property was just what we were looking for; close to the beach and not in the hustle and bustle of So Cal. We were able to walk to the uncrowded beach each day. The weather was beautiful. Free parking and breakfast were also nice. On the other hand, the pool area is very small and there were a lot of kids there for some sports camps. The eggs selection for breakfast each day was not very appetizing but the carbs were delicious... LOL. The hotel staff is very pleasant and accommodating. We missed having a tub/shower combination (shower only) and the toilet was very low. Why dont more hotels upgrade to comfort height toilets? Overall, it was a great stay and we will be back!
Very clean and well organized hotel. Staff are very professional and helpful. Rooms were very clean, comfortable and fully stocked. I forgot my razor and toothbrush but the front desk was able to accommodate me.Although the complimentary breakfast normally opens at 6:30am, management appears to have realized a large percentage of guests are on work travel and so breakfast is available much earlier than 6:30.I would stay for work travel or if I planned to make a personal trip to the area.
My stay at this location was good. The hotel was clean and at short distance to various places. The beach is nearby and there was bicycles available to rent. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was delicious and the staff made sure to refill as soon as possible. The only down side was that there was only one door to enter the building and the parking extended all around the building and all side doors were locked.

I really liked the hotel and the hotel staff. I stayed 5 nights and slept well each night. I always felt safe and appreciated by the staff. The pool area looked very clean and well taken care of. My 5 day stay at the hotel provided me with everything I needed while visiting family during the day. The only thing I did not like was the brick entrance to the hotel. I found it hard to walk on and to pull or push a luggage cart was bone jarring. Overall stay was great. See ya next time I travel to the Oxnard area.

We are relocating to San Diego and took the train to connect with our son!. I found your establishment online and called to inquire if they would be willing to do me a HUGE favor. The answer was a wonderful yes. So our son was able to take delivery of our vehicle for us and you allowed it to stay at your location. The delivery people delivered the car early and still you were all wonderful about it!. Couldnt be happier with how we were treated and the overall experience of the hotel itself along with your VERY CAPABLE and KIND staff!
I had stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in Castro Valley and was very impressed, so booking at the facility in Port Heumene was an easy decision, especially for the reasonable cost. My girlfriend and I were very impressed by the well constructed and decorated lobby where the staff greeted us kindly and checked us in remarkably fast. We were told there was a reception in the dining area where we were treated to complimentary snacks and beverages.Our room was comparable to many more expensive hotels and we slept comfortably and cleaned up the next morning in a spacious and clean bathroom.Check out was as simple as handing back the key and saying goodbye. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
There were so many little details overlooked that would have made this an okay experience. asked if the standard breakfast was being offered again and if roll aways were available before making reservations, was told yes to both. many standard items were not available for breakfast (was told after check in there were “shortages everywhere”) and the roll away requested was not an option in our room type. didnt have change available at the front desk for the laundry coin machines in the hotel. had to ask for towels and toilet paper, housekeeping was never done. showers leaked on bathroom floor and toilet didnt flush properly (had to hold down handle or flush multiple times) pool area never had towels available and no limits on people in pool area. overcrowded over the posted limits, kids running and jumping in spa (could not sit without being hit by beachball or splashed/bumped by kids in spa)
We were greeted by Gilbert at arrival and he was our contact throughout our stay. We were very pleased with his attention to detailand can do attitude. The rooms were very spacious and clean and the beds were on the firm side. The Suite upgrade gives you an additional table and chairs, microwave and mini fridge.
Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. Patti at the front desk was very welcoming and kind. She told us about the Surrey’s and where to ride them. Patti went above and beyond for our family even offering late check out so when we returned from the beach we could use the restrooms before we went onto the next part of our trip. Our room was very clean!

Stayed here a few years ago and it was much better then. Came back to disappointment. Furniture in the room was all scarred up and doors where hard to close. There was a dark mold looking substance in the bathroom on the ceiling and wallpaper. It was bleeding through the paint where they pained over it to try to hide it. The bed was about one level of comfort above the floor. It was so hard. They used to have really comfortable beds and I don’t know what happened. Breakfast had little to no choice for hot meal (scrambled eggs and turkey sausage or oatmeal). Cold cereal and muffins. Don’t let the pictures of bacon, pancakes and omelets fool you. There are better choices in the area for as good or better rate.

Everyone one was great, Patty the manager was so help regarding my request for a late check out. Her staff were well trained and took cleaning seriously. They all wore masks and made sure to have Covid 19 protocols in place for safety. The room was very clean and I felt very safe. The noise level in from the other rooms and from the hall ways were a little more than I expected, but I slept ok overall.
This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the beach. The whole hotel looks new, modern, and clean. The rooms are equipped with microwaves and refrigerators. I also appreciate the complimentary breakfast even though we woke up too late to enjoy it. The beds were comfortable. The A/C seemed a little old, but it cooled the room sufficiently. My only complaint would be the strange modern half covering of the shower that allowed water to spill all over the floor. Also theres no place by the sink to hang a wet hand towel. Not good for mildew purposes. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and courteous. Overall, a good value!
.I really liked the Holiday Inn Express in Port Hueneme. It was a safe, quiet, clean and the staff was very friendly. The room had a fridge and microwave too which made me happy. I loved that it was just a short distance to a really nice beach. There were just a few minor downsides which were; the mattress was a little harder than I prefer, but it was okay to live with for a short time. They have a pool which is nice for kids, but I think it would be a lot better for adults if they fixed the area up to be more inviting. Overall I can say that I would absolutely stay there again!
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel! We arrived early so we collected shells at the beach until our room was ready! After we checked in, we rented the pedal cart and pedaled along the ocean! The pool was clean and inviting! The lounge chairs were comfortable which allowed for complete relaxation! The reception of juice, sod, beer, wine, vegetables and nachos was an added treat! The beds were comfortable and we woke up completely rested! The breakfast was delicious! So much to choose from!! The staff was amazing!!! We will definitely be back!
First of all, the staff was really excellent...The newly decorated hotel looks and feels first class. The size of the rooms are larger and more spacious than most other hotels and the mini fridges not so mini!Breakfast is just like home without any of the work! Perfect for our clan..and the evening hospitality hours are a nice touch too. Only thing missing was the popcorn machine, one of our favorites! (However that probably leaves a bit of a mess).Lounge chairs would be nice to go along with the new updated pool furniture... (Just an idea...how about a sign by the pool that says No Marco Polo?!)Overall, an excellent place to stay...thanks to all
I came and stayed in this hotel for some self reflection and rest. The locations proximity to the beach, price and the amenities of the place gave me all the reasons in choosing this hotel. It was a relaxing and restful stay. Great service by the staff to keep the place safe and clean. I will stay here again in the future.
Very comfortable bed, very clean room with microwave and fridge. Coffee was ok. I wish drinks were available in the breakfast area all day. Breakfast was very good, however we did stay for 4 days and it was the same items every day. The fitness area was a small room with some weights missing. No air conditioning inside, just a small fan.
Staff was friendly and was quick to respond when we requested extra towels. Front desk was helpful when asking on locations for restaurants. The one thing I like to have in hotels is a USB connection for cell phone or electronic devices. Did no see that option in room. But overall the room was great, staff was excellent, and pretty quite for being on ground floor near an exit. Recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this location. Walking distance to beach and convenient.
I really enjoyed this hotel due to it is quiet and relaxing. The kitchen staff were extra helpful and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for breakfast. The rooms are really clean and comfortable to sleep in. I would have like to have more of a variety for breakfast choices though. Overall it was a nice stay and I would stay again.
The holiday in express did an excellent job of accommodating all the cyclists and making us feel welcome and comfortable. The rooms were very spacious and clean. My only recommendation is that since they knew we were all starting our bike rides at 4:30 and 5 AM (200, 300 and 400 miles) they might’ve made an exception to start breakfast service early that morning. However, they did provide a breakfast bag for those who requested it.

With a very soft linen comforter and both hard and soft pillows I slept very, very well !Breakfast was included with room and had lots of choices to choose from, I liked the never-ending hot cinnamon buns and coffee!!Manager reception was cool, choice of three very good beers but small 4 or 5 oz cup. limit of 3. Also good red and white wine. Various snack food hot and cold.Staff seemed to enjoy there job, very friendly and professional.The suite is sweet !!! and single was very nice also.2 blocks from the beach.As I stated in my Title, I cant believe its an Express !!!
I searched up and down the coast for a hotel close the the beach within our budget that also met our criteria of great staff and cleanliness and based on others 5 star reviews, we chose this Holiday Inn. The other reviewers were right! Very clean, awesome staff, and great variety of breakfast choices! All the staff, from the front desk to the breakfast attendants, to housekeeping, to the manager all treated us with respect and kindness. They all tried hard to meet all of our special requests and even exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend and cant say enough great things about this hotel!
Not as advertised.No bar, no jet tubs as shown on website. Old appearance, and the fridge and room smelled bad even though appearing to be clean. There are only thin curtains on the windows that are see through and the parking lot lights shown right into bedroom at night. Not worth 200 per night. This hotel was worth maybe 75 at best. I have stayed at hotels for cheaper and was more satisfied. Live and learn, do your research!
Loved our stay. We rented the surrey and rode to beach you have great location as this visit was to see family on base. Staff friendly, breakfast was replenished when needed and did not run lout of choices. Room was super clean with extra large showers. Rooms were large with coffee pot, frog, and microwave. Thank you for having a washer and dryer available. Loved excercize room although we didnt use this trip.
Hotel was super clean, nice, and within walking distance to the beach. Especially loved the gal that was in charge of breakfast area. She was fantastic! She was friendly and made sure we were well taken care of every morning. My two yr old daughter especially loved her and referred to her as my friend. I will definitely stay there again if our travels lead us back.
As soon as I arrived I was greeted promptly. And friendly Seems like the staff is always willing to help you and go that extra mile. I would definitely recommend this hotel. To friends family .. I usually dont recommend anything, but my stay here. Pretty awesome I book my rooms before I get there. So checking in and out is seamless. I love it!
We made a last-minute reservation after deciding to stay one more day on our long weekend. This was a great little find, only 2 blocks from a large, uncrowded beach, which was perfect. There are a couple of hole-in-the-wall restaurants near the property, which were quite tasty. The room was surprisingly quiet considering there was some sort of large (loud) family gathering just a few doors down from us. We didnt hear a thing once in the room. The room was so dark in the morning, we didnt realize it was nearly 8:30 and we almost missed breakfast!They have free parking at this hotel, which is a rarity in Cali where nothing is free. Definitely worth it since the beach parking is pay-only. Thanks, Ill walk!The staff was friendly and attentive. Id definitely consider staying here again next time we are in town.
The bed and guest services was great. I unfortunately had the worst guests above my room that must have had kids and no sense of respect for other guest below them. Called the front desk multiple times with in two days of my stay. The food was not great either. Stay away from the eggs and bagels. Stick with the cereal and oatmeal!
The hotels location was great. The Managers reception was nice and much appreciated. The breakfast was very good with a lot of seating space (much more than other properties). The rooms were comfortable. The front desk was very friendly, helpful and professional. Highly recommend!
Make no mistake that this is a very old hotel but the rooms are clean and well kept. The front desk staff are not the greatest but not terrible either. I would stay here again.
The location for this hotel was very close to the Pt.Hueneme beach which we enjoyed. My family and I really enjoyed our stay the only thing I disliked was the mattress on the beds need to be updated. It was somewhat uncomfortable. Breakfast was awesome, they had a lot of variety of foods to choose from. The front desk clerks were really nice and friendly. Overall our stay was enjoyable.
We had a very nice stay at Port Hueneme Holiday Inn Express. The staff was courteous and attentive. The room was large and clean. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The happy hour is a really nice touch. I rated sleep quality a bit lower than everything else because I am spoiled by my mattress at home and have trouble sleeping in a bed other than my own. You may find the bed perfectly comfortable - there was nothing wrong with it - its me, really. I called the hotel right after making the reservation because I thought wed need late check-in. Generally, when you call a hotel directly they seem annoyed by it but Sierra at the front desk thanked me for letting her know wed be late and told me to call again if I needed to. That really made this hotel stand out.
We stayed there to visit the Reagan Library and Channel Islands Center and everything went quite well. We were delighted to see such a generous assortment of breakfast foods and it is close the beach. We got a good price on the room, the place is a great bargain. They even served us appetizers that filled me up enough to be dinner. Pool and hot tub were a little cool but I still give it a 5. Wifi worked great, they have wake up calls. Not noisy, only slight noise in room above but I could tell that I was taken seriously when I mentioned it, practically NO noise compared to some places weve stayed.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a month while our house was being remodeled. We absolutely had the best experience. The staff was amazing, specially the front desk staff and breakfast staff. The food was always good and I loved the 24/7 coffee. The room was huge and the bed was comfortable. We did however have a bit of a disturbing run in with a lady i believe was named Barbara (red headed woman up front) She was rude and lacked customer service skills. Overall she is the only complaint. My boyfriend recommend this hotel to family and friends who come out to visit. They are now like family. Thank you!
We had a great experience here. Honestly the staff in the breakfast area were all very kind. We interacted more with these employees than almost anyone else so their kindness and helpfulness did not go unnoticed. Rooms were also very clean. We got two rooms and they put us together without me having to ask first. Highly recommended.
This is one of the worst Holiday Inns I have stayed in. One of the air conditioners did not work. The toilet handle would get stuck. The smoke alarm started chirping repeatedly in the middle of the night. No door on the shower. Bathroom door would not lock. No extra linens in the room. The room only had two towels which is clearly inadequate for a suite. The bedroom tv did not work. The staff was the only high point of our stay.
This was our first time staying at a Holiday Inn Express anywhere. Location was a factor, as was price/value and the amenities, including the free hot breakfast. We were assigned a third-floor room--just as I had requested. We stayed in late September-early October so the hotel wasnt terribly full, and our room was extremely quiet. Unlike other hotels, the rooms here are very large, and there is much unused space. In place of a tub/shower combination, our room had a large shower. That was fine, except that it had very little space for shampoo/conditioner/lotion, razors, etc.; also no thought was given to women needing to shave their legs--no ledge or shelf. We used the Wi-Fi with no problems. The breakfast has a nice selection of hot/cold items (we loved the pancake machine!). The evening reception puzzled me because they serve three kinds of beer, along with fruit juice, but no wine. Nevertheless, we will be returning to the Ventura area as we continue our house hunt, and will definitely stay at this hotel again.
This hotel needs a major overhaul, its stuck in the 70s. Room was dark and dingy. Mattress was lumpy and old. I choose this hotel for the name, as I did not know the area, but it does not match the Holiday Inn name. Next time I will pay more and stay somewhere else. Staff was nice. You are close to beach and amenities. You have to go all the way around the military base to go to the harbor.
Clean room that was well furnished and very quiet for both work and rest. The exercise equipment was all in good working condition. The ocean and beach are only a short walk away for watching sunsets or a swim in the waves. The breakfast area was well stocked and clean. A comfortable stay and would definitely recommend to others and stay there again myself.
I managed to lock myself out of the room and the staff helped me immediately, I also checked out and forgot something in the room, the staff didnt hesitate to let me back in. Everyone was very nice. The bed is a bit firm for me buts thats a tough thing to get right for everyone! The room was large and comfortable, AC unit worked great! Overall, everything was good.
Room was clean and well stocked. Temperature controls worked. Front desk gave good recommendations for local restaurants; Peggy was helpful when we needed to extend our stay. The woman who worked the breakfast room Friday morning was super helpful and friendly. Rubin gave us great recommendations for things to do that weekend. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Our only concern was that there was no safe in the room, so we had to carry our valuables (camera, iPad, jewelry, passports) with us every time we left the room. We highly recommend this HIE.
The room was clean and spacious. The suite I stayed in had 2 queen beds, a microwave, and a refrigerator. Toilet/shower is separate from the sink (closed door), which I like. The breakfast offered plenty of choices, and the area was easy to access and well-staffed. Parking was ample. The staff was friendly and pleasant. I would stay here again.
If I could give 10 stars I would. From the young man who checked me in at 2am 3/7 to the young lady who was at front desk when I checked out that morning, their service was exceptional. Hotel is clean and location is beautiful but the service from those checking me in and out is what took it over the top for me.
Hotel is in good shape, rooms large & comfortable. Friendly and very helpful staff. The free breakfast is adequate, you can do better off site. My only complaint is that the place just reeks of hotel cleaning deodorant. Otherwise not bad.
Good hotel. Elevator was out of service for all 3 days I was there. Breakfast is below par. Recommend upgrade to a better coffee brand. I felt I was drinking hot water. Omelet was rubbery at best. Very comfortable room. Excellent sheets and pillows. Very large room.
The staff greeted us with a smile and a quick check-in. The lobby was clean and very well decorated which helped to give us a welcomed feeling. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the staff working the breakfast room was very friendly, professional and kept the area very clean and well stocked. We would definitely recommend staying here and we plan to stay here again on our future visits.
I booked a double queen room for one night. Originally I wanted to book state rate but then found that their regular rate was better! This was simply intended to be a place to sleep on my way back up the coast to Sacramento from a birthday trip to the LA area, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the reviews I read about were actually right on. The hotel was clean and moderately updated. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Irene who helped us find somewhere to eat. I had expected the continental breakfast to be basic and cold, but again, I was surprised. Breakfast was quite varied! You had pancakes, bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal choices, cinnamon rolls, greek yogurt, etc. Your choice of juices, coffee, tea. The breakfast area was CLEAN and the warm food was actually warm. Ill say it again, I was pleasantly surprised. Id absolutely recommend staying here, and will do so when Im in the area next!The only downside, which didnt affect my stay, is their pet policy. I have two dogs, each over 25lbs. I prefer traveling with them, and this location doesnt accommodate more than one small dog.
We checked in today for a week-long stay. Sierra greeted us from behind the desk and she was amazing! She adjusted our reservation address our needs and to make our stay that much better. She was personable and very accommodating. It was so nice to arrive at a comforting and welcoming hotel after such a LONG day of travelling. The location is great! 10 minute walk to the water, close to yummy places to eat. The hotel is clean and very nicely decorated. I have loved the customer service we have received so far! Would definitely stay here again.
The room was clean and well kept. The bed was very comfortable. I was surprised that there was no bible in the room. I thought all hotels had bibles. Most of the staff was friendly. I appreciated the help from ladies at the front desk helping me determine what time I should leave on a Monday morning to get to LAX airport on time for my flight. I would stay here again, but I would definitely ask for a room that is not right next to the ice machine and overlooking the entrance to the hotel where people have to roll their bags over the brick front entrance...very noisy. No ones fault really, just hotel design issues.

I was greeted by friendly staff in a beautifully maintained facility. My room was spacious and comfortable. The internet was easy to access. The breakfast was very tasty and provided plenty of choices. The hotel is within walking distance from the beach which was nice. I would highly recommend this hotel to others and would visit again if in the area.
First off Michael at the front desk was so wonderful and funny! Our room was so clean and updated. I have a little one who loves to get down and run around barefoot...I felt fine with her doing it in this room! Super clean A++++++!!!! Had drinks and snacks in the evening....sat by the pool it was great! And anyone who says that he breakfast was not that great...well it was great for our family....and the best thing was that its free! Two blocks walk to the beach and fished on the pier right there! We had a great time and will def come here again! Thanks!!!
I liked that the rooms very spacious. Easy access. Close to beach. They have a continental breakfast. The only down side for me and my family was the noise level. Children running up and down the hall floors, loud voices.
Ive stayed here back in 2015 and customer service was awesome. The lady at the reception was friendly and fast confirming my booked room. I returned for another stay this past year and again the service by two nice ladies was great. I accidentally left my key in my room locked, went to ask for another one and the lady quickly assign me one simple and fast. The complementary free breakfast is always the best. The employees quickly put more food once they see theyre running out of certain plates so the other people get to eat. All the people are friendly, I really enjoy my stay everytime I visit Port Hueneme for the weekend.

Our suite was large, comfortable, and clean. It provided several amenities. The rooms overlooked the pool which was a good and bad thing. It was a little noisy during the evening hours.The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms and hotel were decorated nicely and were clean. There were several choices for breakfast with a favorite being the cinnamon buns.My only complaint would be the noise at the pool and running children in the halls later at night. The view is not that nice and the noise level at certain times was high. Perhaps older guests should have the option of a suite at the end of the hall where they wont be disturbed if turning in early.
Many things need to be fixed in order for this hotel to seem .more pleasant. Long story short, this is not a bad area or price. Dont expect anything fancy just plain sleep and leave. B fast gave me I indigestion bacon seemed bad. Floors are dirty in rooms. When I walked in it smelled like pesticide. That smell still clings onto my nose after days of being gone. Staff was nice at front desk but one of those days you could tell they were having a bad day and you knew because of they way they treated you. If youre on vacation I would highly recomend paying more elsewhere for a more pleasant, clean, relaxing stay. I wont be back in the future
We originally had reserved 2 rooms with king beds due to unavailable 2 bed-rooms. Daniel accommodated us and ended up having 2 rooms with 2 beds for the duration of our 3 night stay. Breakfast and happy hours are always excellent. I had to leave the hotel before breakfast was served but fruits were available to grab for early work. The place is very convenient for restaurants just across the street (Ramen, Filipino- Broasted Chicken, Mexican, Thai and Wendys. Thank you and very close to the navy base.
Like the location near the beach and food options within walking distance. Beds were comfortable. Room was spacious. We forgot plug for I phone and had to access USB port on tv because there were no USB ports on light bases.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Great check in/check out times. Accessible power outlets and WiFi. I was able to change the room from a single king sized bed to two double beds with no charge. The only issue was with the credit/debit card reader. It wouldn’t accept my card. Other than that my stay was flawless.
This is our second stay at this property. We returned because of our prior experience. From the very beginning of our stay we felt as if we were welcomed as family. The front desk staff was especially welcoming and extremely helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast staff was also genuinely attentive, constantly asking if we needed anything else, clearing the table of emptiy plates, etc, and even offering to get us refills of the coffee. in addition, the front desk and breakfast staffs remembered us from our stay seven months prior and truly made us feel welcome. We were staying here for a visit to the beach (something my wife really misses), and when we next need our beach fix it is most likely where we will return.
Came here to get some much needed rest. With little traffic, we arrived early and were grateful that the front desk staff were kind and accommodating, allowing us to check in. We felt safer seeing that extra precautions were being taken to prevent possible spread of the COVID-19 virus. The hotel room itself was clean with an extremely comfortable bed and the environment was quiet, allowing us to sleep in and recharge.
03/05/2020I have stayed in a wide variety of hotels around the world and this hotel offers a lot of value for its price and 3-star accommodation rating.The area was quiet, near the beach, and there was plenty of parking (all free).The staff was very kind, helpful, and accommodating. The check in/out process was quick, no hassles.The room was modern, fresh, cool, clean, spacious and had nice extras (microwave, larger fridge, etc).The complimentary breakfast offered omelettes, pancakes, bacon/sausage, biscuits/gravy, cereal, muffins, bagels, fruits, yogurt, milk, and delicious coffee.Next time I stay in Port Hueneme, Im staying here.
Everything at this facility is great and reasonably priced. The beds are super comfortable. Room was perfect temperature and quiet! Adequate breakfast. Rent their bikes (or surrey if you’re in a group!) to ride along the beautiful beach path, and later enjoy the happy hour!
My husband and I came here for a marriage retreat that our church was holding. Both ladies at the receptionist table were very pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the free appetizers and beverages that were offered in the evening. Our room was extremely clean and roomy. The bed was comfortable. We had to leave at 5 am the next day and were not able to enjoy the complimentary breakfast. We would definitely come back here and spend more time in Port Hueneme.
This hotel is in need of an upgrade! I was surprised at the quality of this hotel...and the people that were staying there, or hanging out in the parking lot. It was a little scary. Arrived late (10pm) front doors were locked, had to buzz in and the people in the parking lot loitering made me quite nervous. Hasnt been updated in a long time, which isnt consistent with my experience with IGH. Was clean, or as clean as it could be...fine for a night but wouldnt stay here again.
This was one of the best Holiday Inn Express properties that I have stayed at. Quiet, comfortable, clean, modernized rooms. Peaceful decor. Staff was professional and courteous. Breakfast was more than adequate since yogurt, fruit and coffee appease me. The only negative I had was the amount of traffic in and out to the Pacific Coast Hwy 1. I chose this hotel due to its value for this particularly busy weekend and I received the bonus of close proximity to the beach even though I had to drive daily to Ventura during my stay. I enjoyed this property and I would stay here again.
I stayed at this hotel for a night getaway. I was incredibly impressed with the room. It was very big and extremely clean. The shower was the cleanest hotel shower I have ever seen and the beds were so comfortable. The most impressive part of my stay was the breakfast. It was delicious, hot and fresh with options for anyone. I will 100% stay at this property again.
Nice room with refrigerator and microwave. Very clean. Very slow elevators. The whole facility is dated and could use a cosmetic freshen up.
Nice small hotel walking distance to the beach. Its in a safe residential area with a few restaurants in walking distance. Hotel looks recently updated and is well kept. The morning breakfast buffet is one of the best free ones Ive seen at hotel, especially the cinnamon buns. Theres also a small happy hour in the evening with free wine/beer and nachos, and some other goodies. Great place to bring kids or for a romantic getaway because of the location. Came with my wife and 8-month-old daughter and we hope to come back again soon.
Very clean, the few staff i encountered were very kind. bed was comfortable, room was spacious. breakfast wasnt as nice due to covid but they did a really great job regardless. thank you for the comfortable stay, i would certainly stay here again
Fairly big room. Port Hueneme is quiet, but still has homeless issues. Security measures are lacking. Side ddor was open with no card reader for safety. Guests a few doors down were so loud when passing by their room in the hallway, but luckily the noise didnt make it through my room door. Shower only. Fairly clean.Breakfast was good and plentiful. Choice selection on hot/cold or healthy/standard fare. Walking distance to the beach.Not 5 stars because of safety measures. Older hotel and seems to be on standard for comfort and cleanliness of Holiday Inn Express.
The hotel is dated and needs an upgrade but overall the location and staff make up for that. The location is quiet and not a lot going on around you which makes it quite nice for a relaxing weekend, Long walks on the beach, bike riding, etc. Will definitely be back for another staycation. Staff is GREAT!!
Stayed overnight, rooms and while hotel was nice and clean, spacious bathroom, staff were friendly. Breakfast was good, took out 1 start for the scrambled eggs. I would have liked it without the cheese and just have cheese for an option. Kitchen staff named Amany was wonderful and very friendly. Will stay here again.
Ive never had a bad experience at this location. Rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. Breakfast is what you expect for a holiday inn express. The building is quiet so if you are traveling for business its a plus. Walking distance to the beach if you prefer to get your excercise that way. Fitness center has free weights in it so that is nice. The one and only downside to this location is that the lamps in the room have power outlets on them, not thats not the problem right off, the problems that the outlets dont fit any standard changers. The plugs wiggle about in them and hardly ever connect. Ive resorted to bringing an extension cord with my because it has a ground plug the seats nicely. Thats is my only complaint.
Hotel is just OK. I guess the Express in the name means Dont expect too much. Staff friendliness is hit and miss. It looks and feels like the 1960s. The gym is decent for a hotel; they do have dumbells which is awesome and unusual for most hotels. It wasnt terrible but not my first choice!!!!
This was a great place to stay. Close to the beach. Hotel staff was great. We booked 2 nights and ended up staying 5 nights. We had a double queen room and it was great size. Free WiFi and breakfast. The attendant at the breakfast was so helpful and kept everything stocked and fresh. The rooms smelled good and housekeeping did a great job.
This Hotel used to be a Country Inn and was my favorite in the area. This was the first time that I stayed at this location as a Holiday Inn Express. I am happy that nothing decreased in quality. In fact, everything was improved. I did not have time to take advantage of the complementary evening cocktail. However, the breakfast choices and service were considerably improved. The hotel is well maintained and the room was very comfortable. I liked the express checkout, as well. The only negative was the TV listing card in the room did not match the channels on the TV. It looked like a fairly new flat screen television. Perhaps that was the reason. Overall, I could not have been more pleased. This was a good value.
I have stayed here many times for work, this visit was for vacation. Check-in was quick and easy (as always). The desk staff are always friendly, I mentioned that I brought my family with this time and they upgraded my room to make it even more memorable. We swam, used the spa and the cardio room. We walked to the beach where we spent hours on a gorgeous day. Only downside is the breakfast...the egg pucks omlettes & biscuit/gravy are typical holiday inn, not good. I think most others agreed because there was alot of food being thrown away. (What a waste of food.) But at least there was something to get your day started.I love this hotel, and will stay here again for sure, thank you for making our vacation a little more special :)
From check in to departure we had a great experience! The staff were friendly and helpful! The room was clean and everything was in excellent working order. Just an overall wonderful hotel! We would love to visit again when we arent on work time.
The hotel is extremely worn down needs to be remodeled. There’s such lovely pictures on-line however in personal the location is dirty, smells musty and no fresh air circulation. The carpet is filthy and worn. TV remote did not work properly had to manually adjust. Front desk clerk stated breakfast hours but didn’t bother to add breakfast would not be hot, just brown bag take out. Horrible experience I’d never stay there again.
Very nice location within walking distance to the beach. Enjoyed the access to rental bikes. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only complaint would be no bathtub (only shower) and the lack of non fast food eateries in the area especially since breakfast buffet is closed on premises. Otherwise it’s a great property and will return.
This hotel is great, just steps away from the beach. They have cycles etc. to rent, a nice little pool, its tiny rec room actually was useful and comfortable. The staff always smiles and greets you and does try to meet any needs. They offer a free breakfast every morning and the pantry items were stocked well. The only bummer was the wine I bought. Not good chard, I only bought it because the small store had already closed. I loved my little get away!!

2023-11-25 00:47:52I had a disappointing experience at this hotel. Despite reserving 3 rooms at $170 each through the IHG site, the front desk attempted to charge me $235 per room upon check-in. After a 15-minute call to IHG, the front desk finally honored the reserved rate. When requesting to speak to the manager, a person on speaker phone was unapologetic and insisted on the increased rate or leaving. The lack of customer service and a threatening tone make it hard to recommend this hotel. Staff training in customer service is evidently needed.

2023-11-25 01:20:33Worst hotel everWe went on family trip for thanksgiving break with kids, 3 seniors,10 members. Booked 3 Rooms online $176 each. When we went to the hotel Receptionist Maria said it’s $230 even though we had the email confirmation. She refused to call the manager and asked us to call the customer service and figure out. She said they can’t do anything about the rate. After stay in the line for 20 min finally she called the manager Ruben and when we tried to explain him the price difference he was very rude, and said you can either stay in the hotel or he will call the Police. We have stayed in so many hotel around the world never experienced anything like this. Those people are not supposed to be in hotel industry.Please go find another job.We canceled the reservation and booked a different hotel.Don’t go there and ruin your vacation

The ocean is a very short walk down the road, the hotel is very clean and breakfast was always stocked with everything you need to begin a great day! Highly recommend this hotel.

2023-08-05 23:59:59I have stayed here before. The location is great and is close to the beach. The hotel itself is ok. We used the laundry room, it could use a shelf. The dryer didn’t work properly. I spent 2 hours drying one load. Went to look for a laundromat. The room a/c never stayed cold . Thankfully I had my fan. Wish hotels would stop using heavy blankets. Our room was far from the front door. That was my biggest issue. Otherwise it was overall ok..

But, hotel and rooms were clean, staff very friendly, breakfast was hot, fresh and had good choices. Pillows were comfortable and we liked the brand of shampoo/soaps in bathroom. A little pricey for outdated hotel, but it is within walking distance of the beach.

The breakfast isnt to bad. It is very quiet and only a few blocks from the ocean. Perfect for families that are visiting their NAVY people.

2023-06-27 23:59:59We love this hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is hot and well maintained. The location is superb for beach access (came for a beach soccer tournament) within walking distance and nearby food. We were able to relax and enjoy the weekend.
