I have worked here 3 times already since July 2023 as a wedding content creator & wedding coordinator @girlypopbrideThis is a popular place for banquet style weddings in the Bay Area!The view is stunning, and once the whole place is decorated, it doesn’t look like a restaurant! It can be a little squishy though especially when they have 2 weddings happening at the same time! The restaurant does a good job at cancelling out the noise so you don’t have to really worry about being louder than the other wedding. If there is only 1 wedding happening, the other part of the restaurant may still be open to diners. There’s lot of parking and the front of the restaurant is great for pics!

We ventured into this restaurant as part of a day out at Berkeley Beach. The dishes exceeded our expectations, especially the signature dishes: Crab Meat & Shrimp Crystal Dumplings, Oysters in Shells, BBQ Pork, Clams in Spicy Herbs Soup, and Fish Fin/Abalone/Shrimp/Pork Dumpling Soup.Moreover, the breathtaking views from the restaurant added to the overall experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and highly recommend this restaurant.

We put the pilot house into my pal Halgorious Breezeways slip there at the marina for a little weekend maintenance, and had time to grab a light lunch at the Hong Kong East Ocean Restaurant. What a delight it is to eat here, it has a nice view of the bay, but most of the customers and staff think its the ocean. The options are incredible, as is the presentation and the flavors of everything is amazing. ☆☆☆☆☆

I am here for Dim Sum Lunch on Sunday. Some food especially fried foods are all cold. Not very tasty. Servers are NOT friendly, and tips are mandatory 18% for 2 people. We ordered about 8 dishes. The best dish will be beef intestines stew, which served hot. Fried Shrimp roll is served cold, Pan-fried rice noodles were served cold, beef balls are served cold. I feel like we are not very welcome here. NOT coming back.

We had reservation for 8 people on Chinese New year at 5 pm. The restaurant is located in a nice area with beautiful sunset view.However, the food was far below our expectations. The sea food soup (海鲜锅巴汤) and 老鸭煲 were terrible, worst I have ever had. The crab and fish(煎封龙利）about $60 each dish, not fresh taste.Other dishes were ok, but they are no from other smaller/ordinary Chinese restaurants, only more expensive. We will never come again.

The food here is extremely legitimate and delicious! I believe it’s the best dim sum in the east bay. The servers are always super nice, and the restaurant itself is beautiful.Right outside the windows, there’s an amazing view of the city and the bridges! Do be aware that the prices are higher than other places, you’re probably paying for the premium location. Overall, I would definitely recommend it!

We had a fantastic dim sum lunch with an amazing view of the bay. :) Make reservations!PROS--Great location, plenty of parking, and safe-clean-If you’re lucky, try to snag a window seat to enjoy the views of the beautiful bay water and watching the cute dogs walk by.-friendly, welcoming and attentive staff-Good extensive dim sum menu and selections-Generous portion sizes and the food is tasty and fresh-My usual favorite dim sum dishes: rice cake with bbq pork, taro dumpling & pan fried daikon……so good here!!!-siu mai and shrimp dumplings are delicious here!!! The restaurant was not as full as it usually is for a Saturday morning. The food was good. The one thing is that pay attention to the bill once you get it as they are not adding the tip but label it as service fee and you can end up double tipping as they dont let you know.

So we went here for the views and while I always feel the food at the water front restaurants in Emeryville are really lacking and very expensive for their mediocrity, we decided to try something new. Hands down the best food down there and some of the best Chinese Cuisine I have had in years. The waiters were very helpful, the food was plentiful and quite delicious! We ordered from the dim sum menu as well as a few things from the main menu. We loved it! The kids loved everything! And we were just all around surprised and so happy we decided to give it a try. We’ll be back!!

I’ve been to ~15 dim sum places in my life. They range in quality of course. This one is TOP NOTCH! The view of the bay is also lovely. We had the pork ribs, some buns, chicken feet, long flat noodles with shrimp. Everything was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend :)

Definitely one of the best Dim Sum restaurants in the Bay Area. We love it also because the surrounding of it - Located on the tip of Emeryville Marina, you can enjoy the gorgeous view of the water front and also the bay bridge, Treasure island and the City of San Francisco.Foods are high quality. I recommend the Tofu skin rolls, rice rolls with crispy shrimp, regular shrimp rice noodle rolls, congee, deep fried spring rolls, and rice noodle stirred fried with XO seafood sauce.- The restaurant has parking right outside of the entrance.- Toilets are available.You can sometimes watch people fishing if you’re sitting facing the windows and it could be quite enjoyable and exciting if they catch anything:)

My friend who is a patron of the restaurant took me there for lunch today, it was awesome! Food was great, we took some dimsom and the view from the restaurant was stunning to see SF GGB, Bay Bridge, Downtown San Francisco from a distance. Have been here many times and like the food ok. Duck tongue was offered dim sum style and was new. No food carts which is ok with me.Ceramic tea pot spills tea on the table where the metal one has good control and keeps the table dry. Always like the metal one and always dread the ceramic one. Sliced tofu is pretty good. The parking is great.

Great view of the bay. And if you come im the late afternoon you can see the sunset on the big windows. However, i must warn you to keep your belongings safe in your car because we got our window smashed while parked in their parking lot. Disappointing. Theyre just as rude and pretentious as ever. View is gorgeous per usual. Interior is a bit dated. Went here for what was my favorite dish, the deep fried shrimp (the scallop looking ones) but they were disappointing. 3 of 4 dishes arrived luke warm or cold and only one was piping hot. Expensive, depressing atmosphere of sad but fortunately was offset by sunny day. No refill of hot water for small tea pot. Tea was $2-3 / per person. They always push and suggest jasmine tea.

Amazing waterfront views of Treasure Island & San Francisco skyline, Bay and Golden Gate Bridges! Delicious and flavorful Dim Sum, Noodles, Fish, Pot Stickers and desserts. The ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection. The restaurant was Covid-19 compliant with very clean bathrooms. The staff at the front of the restaurant were courteous, professional, and greeted me immediately! Bring a sweater or fleece for a casual walk around the Marina which boastsa cool breeze any season. Indeed, competitively pricey but the servings are more than ample. A delightful early lunch whether you are solo are with a group, definitely takeout is an option if you want to sit along the waterfront area! Enjoy!

Large restaurant along the waterfront with incredible views of SF and both bridges. I arrived on a Wednesday at 1 pm and was seated right away. I judge dim sum restaurants by how well they do chickens feet. I tried the abalone sauce chickens, and the black bean chickens feet. Both were excellent. Also tried several dishes with shrimp, which tasted very fresh. After your meal, theres a paved walkway just behind the restaurant that skirts the waterfront, so you can take a scenic stroll and burn off those post prandial calories.

From almost anywhere in the restaurant, you have a grand, beautiful view of the Bay. We could see the city skyscrapers in the distance over the water.The restaurant was clean, and the servers were prompt and courteous.The food was absolutely delightful. Ive been to plenty of dim sum places, and theres a reason East Ocean was Michelin Guide rated in 2014. From the various small dim sum options to the definitely-should-share specials, everything was delicious! Pro tip for dessert: the mango pudding is out of this world. You do not wanna pass it up!

Can’t imagine why some of the reviews are bad. This is probably the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. It’s pricey if you get certain things but the dim sum and entrees are priced pretty fairly for the portions in my opinion. You get A LOT of food, so don’t think you have to order a bunch of things to get full. But there are so many great things on the menu so you might be tempted lol. We had the Peking duck (absolutely perfect and delicious), seafood fried rice (very fresh), braised pork chops (AMAZING flavor) and two shrimp dim sum dishes. Everything including the service, and the drinks, were fantastic.

Good dim sum and decent service. One complaint was the tofu skin stuffed with pork and shrimp. We and the server had to search through the mushrooms to find ANY meat. Been here a few times and each time is been good. This time we had dimsum and ordered more than we could eat as always. But the food choices were numerous and delicious looking. I was impressed at how big the shrimp in the har-gow and the cheun-foon was. Each bite was a mouth full. The beef cheun-foon was velvety smooth and so delicious and flavorful. There were just too many dishes to be recognized in this review. Each time I come here I try to order something new to try on top of my usual. You really cant go wrong with any selection.Update 12/23/22. Went back here again for a lunch with coworkers and ordered a ton of stuff but I found this time the food was lacking in flavor, like they didnt season the ingredients enough or marinade the meat before cooking it. The portions were nice, though, except the steamed pork ribs, which I thought looked like someone took a couple spoonful of ribs and dumped it on a tiny dish.

Went there for a birthday surprise dinner on Independence Day. Dropped the birthday cake to the restaurant few hours earlier and asked the waiter to bring it to our table in the end.My husband doesn’t understand Chinese, neither the Chinese waiter. The guy who served our table didn’t follow the instructions I asked him, and even brought the cake box totally unopened, candle still in bag on top of my face. That’s the worst experience anyone can expect. Seems all waiters knew my plan, but the serving one is so unprofessional and others are discriminating.I wonder if interracial relationships are not welcomed in this old school expensive restaurant.

Definitely an authentic dim sum place to visit! If you are looking for an original (based on my limited authentic Hong Kong food experience) HK dim sum experience, I would recommend this place for sure. The taste in general would be a little bit more authentic than your traditional experience with Din Tai Fung. I found that this is differently appealing to try it out and the food in general is really good. I do recommend trying the most popular dishes (often marked them on the menu sheet) to avoid order failures as the authentic dishes could taste a bit stronger than you would imagine.At the time of visit on 4/3/2021, the Google Map showed this restaurant did not offer Dine-in Service but when I arrived at the dinner time, they opened up for the Dine-in Service!With the above, this is a must go restaurant if you want to take your significant others, friends, family, etc. for a special occasion. The view you would get when seating by the window is amazing!

Dim Sum with a waterfront view? YES PLEASE.My Dad and I have been coming here for years. Its one of our go-to dim sum spots when in the East Bay. The food is excellent. They have a wide variety of dim sum items as well as a full Cantonese menu. Everything we have had has been delicious and prepared well.Prices are on the higher end, you are definitely paying for the ambiance, location and beautiful restaurant.The wait can be horrendous. Expect to wait a good amount of time for a table, and once youre at the table - expect to wait for the dim sum carts to come around. So dont come here hangry or on limited time.

A really nice option for a special occasion! The restaurant was clean, the food was fantastic, and my waitress went above and beyond to make my partys meal one to remember. At $40+ a person before tip, the expectation is high but I left feeling very satisfied. Note that there is optional live seafood cooked to order and those are all pretty pricey but thats to be expected. The views at sunset are also magnificent.

I have gone here dozens of times and continue to be amazed by both the variety and quality of their dim sum. I love all of their shrimp dumplings, their egg custard tart, the sesame balls, the crispy rice noodle shrimp dish is my favorite by far, the ginger cucumber, the taro/coconut dessert, the great mango pudding, and recently the amazingly fine garlic and cooked lettuce blew me away. The only thing I am frequently disappointed with is the Chinese broccoli which is both undercooked as a rule and with almost no green tops. My friends love the siu mei pork dumplings and the stuffed eggplant too. The staff is very efficient, and of course the view is wonderful.

Poor service, mediocre food and a 20% service charge added without telling you before hand. The service was so bad I wasnt going to leave a tip, but they beat me to the punch - automatic service charge. Ordered chardonay - they brought us some kind of sweet wine, then never came back until they brought out our food (After a loooong wait). On top of which you have to pay for white rice. Ive never heard of a Chinese restaurant doing that before. $200.00 for three dishes and wine we couldnt drink. What a complete ripoff!!!!

Service was not great. I came to pick my dimsum up a few minutes late, but the door person was running around with my Receipt for 10 minutes, never said why. The food, however, was heavy with fresh seafood. We only had dimsum/dumplings- shrimp, cod fish. Just absolutely delicious! I come here about once every 6 months or so. Im a little ashamed to admit that I dont really know of many other dim sum places around the area, so I just end up coming here whenever Im in the Emeryville area. Its not baaadd, but also admittedly not very good. Some dishes were overly oily and over-seasoned, while others were under-seasoned.For example, lets take the white chicken feet I got. Ideally, the chicken feet should be marinated in vinegar to a point of being pickled. That means the meat itself should have sufficient flavor, and not require a dipping sauce. Here, however, they served an excessively bland dish with some vinegar dipping sauce. It was pretty disappointing, to say the least. The other dishes I got tasted like standard dim-sum.So 4-star review it is... except.... I am taking off an additional star because I do not appreciate their efforts to trick me into buying the expensive dishes. This place generally doesnt do the little carts, so you order on a sheet instead. However, there are a few overpriced dishes they will cart around and try to trick you into getting. One of which was a fried pork dish. It looked pretty good, so I took it. Immediately afterwards, I realize that the small plate of pork was around $30. Thankfully nobody had started digging in yet, so we asked them to take it back and remove the charge. I guess I should have known that they would peddle the expensive stuff, hoping some chump would fall for their machinations...

Being a pilot I have traveled allOver the world. This is the best Dim Sum I have had. Salt pepper Calamari was so tender and perfectly fried. Rice porridge w/shredded pork and preserved egg was outstanding, perfect balance of pork flavor and salt from the egg. Crispy shrimp rice noodle rolls were new too me, and I highly recommend them! They are a mouth full.Service is fast and efficient, I really liked that they gave me a chance to work through all my dishes and not just plop them on avoiding cold food.

This place is so dirty including a cat wandering around the lobby and bathrooms that should be condemned, peeling paint, dirty carpets. If this is what you see don’t think about the kitchen. The staff is also typically abrupt, not attentive, sloppy, and if they don’t understand you they ignore the request. Food is far below standards. The only good thing is the view. Don’t waste your money here.

A friend and I went here for dinner. The food was slightly on the expensive side but was good. The views were beautiful. The facilities were a bit aged but well maintained. The problem here was the service. The wait staff was rude. Very rude and unattentive. After the initial order, the never came back to see if we needed anything. At the close of the meal I had to walk up to a waiter to ask for to go boxes and then again for the check. It is not worth going back.

This place gives you all of your classic dim sum selections along with a beautiful view of the Bay. Outside of the food and view, nothing else really stands out. The dining rooms are decently clean but you really gotta flag people down for service during lunch. Parking for lunch was also rough, since the lot is chronically full and you likely will need to park up the street a bit. Moreover, since it gets busy for dim sum, expect to wait at least 30 mins for a small party and nearly an hour for larger parties.

There was a wait time but that gave the family and I plenty of time to pick out what dishes we wanted to order, and once seated, we were given hot tea and able to place our order immediately. Extremely rude and unprofessional. My table didnt have any water for several hours and people were getting dehydrated. I saw a couple pitchers of water on an empty table and started to pour some into a glass. The water was scalding hot, so I had to put it down. The manager saw this and didnt assist me with getting cold water for my table. Then I went to the bar and waited for a long time but the bartender wasnt there. Finally due to how exhausted and dehydrated everyone was getting, I reached over the bar counter to grab a jug of water. The manager saw this from across the room and became very angry at me. She stared at me and only filled one glass of water for me -- she wouldnt give me a pitcher for the table. The food here is great but the way they treat customers is abysmal.

We go here almost every Christmas eve and have never been disappointed! We highly, highly recommend the smoked filet of black cod. We inhaled it. There were a couple large pieces of salted fish on top which I wish was better integrated into the meat pancake.Steamed rice was available at a per bowl charge of $3 per bowl. I am so glad there is still a large dim sum house near San Francisco! All of the large ones in SF Chinatown have closed down or changed to something else. Hong Kong East Ocean has always been a place we have taken out-of-town friends to impress them (the food, the service, the views!) but we recently went just to have a family girls day lunch (me, my daughter, and her Auntie). It was a Monday at around noon but enough people to feel like a bit of a crowd with no wait. I miss the carts, but they had the dim sum menu so we could just check off our favorites and wait while drinking our black tea (bow lay--my favorite!).The first two dishes to come out (turnip cake/low bak goh and shrimp rice roll/ha cheung fun) were warmish (not hot, but not fully cold) so we were not impressed at first. But then the wet egg rolls, the sticky rice tamales, fried taro dumplings, chicken feet, meatball, and the shrimp dumplings/ha gow were all piping hot and fresh. Aunties main complaint was that the dishes with sauces (shrimp rice roll, chicken feet, and wet egg roll) were not saucy enough.But everything was tasty, service was good/fast, and atmosphere is always good when its busy (but not too busy) and the view, of course! Cant beat that peninsula for a great view of The Bay and The Bay Bridge (and sometimes the Golden Gate on an especially clear day)! Prices are pretty high for basic dim sum, but when youre used to the old SF Chinatown teahouses, its expected to be higher, plus inflation and the view.***(One note about the womens bathroom: Do not go in the two smaller stalls unless you have very good knees! The toilets are VERY low to the ground and there are no bars to help you down/up). Best stick with the accessible stall. I cant speak for the mens restroom.

This restaurant is always packed with diners. Luckily, we didnt have a long wait. The staff is well organized. The wait is based on the size of your party. They give out a numeric ticket. I dont mind waiting for a table since I had the chance to take a walk along the water. You have a beautiful unobstructed view of the bay, the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco cityline right behind the restaurant. Theres a large parking lot, but when its packed, it can be hard to find parking. There are a few vegetarian dim sum options. I liked the crispy tofu roll with mushrooms. The rice noodle roll with XO sauce actually had tiny shrimps which was disappointing for me because it was not listed on the menu.

Stay away from this restaurant!!! It has beautiful ocean view but poor service. First, the waiter is impatient answering our questions. All he wanted was our order but seemed very reluctant to provide any basic service such as introducing their food or giving any recommendations. I understand if its during a busy time, however, there were only a few customers there at that time. Besides, they force 18% service tip but with this kind of attitude, theres no way we will pay. So we decided to take out food and were told to go back in 20 minutes. We took a walk outside, checked the reviews and found there are complaints about cold or untasty food. So when we returned to the restaurant, asked if we could check food first. Obviously the waiter wasnt happy because he wanted us to pay first, but finally he let me check it. Now here comes the funny thing: there are only FOUR soup dumplings, microscopic, unfresh, seeming like leftovers from the day before. Plus, there should be TEN instead of FOUR. Dont ask me why but this is how it works. I told the waiter at least inform your customer before our order or mark it on the menu. So he took out a different menu with pictures, totally different from the one was given us before and pointing at the menu claiming it was marked 4, however, from the one provided before no clear number was displayed. He was not happy at all when I asked to return the soup dumplings because I felt they are not honest about their business. The waiter kept arguing with me about the number of dumplings which really made me lose the appetite. Why cant he apologize instead? At last, he said Im not selling food to you and took away the food. Remember, these are two different waiters, the one whos impatient and the one who at the end suddenly decided not to sell their food even though they made us wait for 20 minutes. Guys, go to other better ones because you deserve better service and more tasty food!

I didn’t have a good experience here. First the receptionist is not helpful, second no baby seat is offered until I ask for it. Third the dimsum is not hot enough, seems been prepared for a while. I have been meaning to try Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood Restaurant for years -- and now wish I had sooner. I brought my Sister and my Brother In-Law who were visiting from out of town. I was showing them around the beautiful Emeryville Marina, and felt that this was a good time to try the restaurant. We came here for a Saturday evening dinner (dining in). Our dining experience was wonderful! It exceeded all of our expectations: Delicious dim sum (made to order ... so hard to find this anywhere in the evening). The staff were attentive and polite -- even though they were juggling a large wedding party, service did not lag. Hospitality was super thoughtful and kind -- they made us feel right at home (so rare!). They also made room for us and sat us right away even though we did not have reservations. The scenery of the Bay was beautiful and we didnt have to have window seats to enjoy it. Our compliments to the chefs! The food, itself, was top notch -- the calamari melted in our mouths, and the Shanghai dumplings, sticky rice, bbq pork buns, beef ribs were wonderfully delicious! Dessert was sublime-- the sesame balls, mango gelatin, and custard tarts were perfection! I will definitely be coming back here and bringing my friends and family. Worst service ever! We ordered bunch of items and even thought you can see the price before you pay you dont expect to get the small amount: example (an order of chicken wings was 4 pieces for $12.50) the tendon plate was also very small (over most plates are high price for small amounts and low taste) the atmosphere isnt anything special. Food is definitely overpriced compared to other Chinese restaurants and the portion sizes are smaller. Watch out for some of the waiters if you decide to pay cash since if you pay more than whats on the bill and expect change back, they might slip a bill or two into their own pockets and hope you dont notice as some people dont bother to count their change and just assume its correct. Just pay with a credit card since they put a 20% tip into the bill anyway. And you probably get cash back depending on what card you have.

There are plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. We were seated next to the window since the sun was setting the blinds were down so the sudden were not bothering us while we were eating. All dishes were cooked perfectly and were delicious. My only complaint is that the restaurant only makes their dishes in one size, which is much too large for a person eating by himself. To get a variety of food, one must order too much to be eaten at one sitting.

Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood restaurant is THE PLACE to dine. Beautiful water view by the bridge. Dim sum is best priced and high quality by far compared to all restaurants in Bay Area. Donna and staff go out of their way to create experience. I had my wedding reception here 10 years ago( best meal of my life) and the food here still rock my socks off every time. FYI. Even my mother in law loves the Alaska king crab here and she is a high standard foodie that no food is ever good enough elsewhere. Keep up the good work.

We do not live in Emeryville, but I had attended a party here before Christmas and loved the food and the view. So we drove from the South Bay, a good 45 minute drive, for Saturday morning dim sum! We werent disappointed. Had soup dumplings, pork filled rice noodles (delicious), shrimp dumplings, and amazing red bean sesame balls. One of the best things we ordered were the house noodles which were served slightly crispy with plenty of food. The service was terrific. We will be back despite the drive!

The service is ok since the restaurant is busy. I took my 5 friends here cuz I had a good dinner experience. The foods were good and service was great. Recommend for dinner but please avoid dimsum. This place has some of the best Chinese food in the Bay Area! The dim sum is so well done. The shrimp dumplings 蝦餃and Siu mai燒賣taste exactly like the ones in Hong Kong. This place has become a regular take-out stop for us. The 糯米飯 sticky rice is beautifully done and delicious. Not only the food is good, but you get to enjoy the wonderful view of the city and the Christmas lights on the boats when you pick up your food!

I was extremely underwhelmed and disappointed. I had one of the duck dishes and it was more fat than meat which was inedible plus it wasnt cooked to order (it took less than 10 minutes to come to the table and it was cold in the middle). Then they microwaved it! Definitely not worth the price- for $21 they should be cooking it to order. I also ordered the sweet and sour pork dish. There was no flavor even though it was drenched in sauce. The only nice qualities are the view of the Boat and the hot pot of tea.

I went there on August 8, 2021 to host a celebratory dinner for my mom for a party of seven. I ordered the seafood soup, Peking Duck, salt and pepper crab, smoked fillet of black cod, snow pea sprouts, stir-fried lamb with xo sauce and the nobleman fried rice. Most of the food were acceptable and flavorful, albeit a little on the salty side.The real disappointing item was the duck. First of all, both the skin and meat were cold. I have worked in Chinese restaurant in the past and roast duck is reheated by ladling hot oil over it. Just a few minutes and the skin would be crispy and the meat would be warm.Secondly, the skin was presented with the white buns and accompaniment but the meat was served about 10 minutes later. (I have ALWAYS been served both meat and skin at the same time because you want both in the bun or crepe.) The green onion was not finely julienned and it looked dry and limp. The bun was thicker than any I have ever had in the past.Upon inquiry as to why the meat took so long to get to the table, the server explained that is how it is done here. Seriously?!?!?!? Great China in Berkeley sure knows how it SHOULD be done, even when it is for a to go order.Lastly, the meat was not sliced off the bones. I suspect the chefs were absent on Sunday night and some kitchen lackey did the meat carving. Or, worse yet, they were just plain lazy.Needless to say, I regret not going across the Bay to R&G Lounge in San Francisco for a proper meal. Hong Kong East Ocean - you have lost my business from this point forth.

I brought my dad here for dim sum on a Saturday afternoon. It was after the morning crowd, but it was still difficult to find parking. We were seated far from the main dinning area in a small room. We were very neglected. What I dont like is ordering off a menu. The whole point of dim sum is to see, smell and order until your heart content. Sometimes ordering off a menu you get too much or too little food. Sometimes they forget to bring a dish or too, then when you try to cancel they rush to bring it out and youre already done with your meal. I would only come here if my dad wanted to eat here.

Pretty decent Chinese sea food. Very nice views of the bay. Our company is within walking distance, so we had both experience in the morning for lunch and afternoon for dinner. We were here yesterday. My only complaints are: They put 16% tips in your receipt as default, and charge me $0.10 for recycle bag. We did not use any bag, we finished all our food. Otherwise pretty good. Yesterday, the 4th of July, you can see fireworks from different cities, including Oakland and San Francisco.

Very good dim sum at an East Bay institution. This place easily has the best views of any dim sum place out there. I much prefer this place to the East Ocean in Alameda.All of the mainstays are a solid A. No major complaints about food or service. Char sui bao dough is a little too thick and dense, and filling is slightly too sweet, but overall good.Highly recommended! Beautiful area to walk around before or after the meal as well.

My wife and I have been to Hong Kong East Ocean twice. Once for dim sum and once for a dinner banquet. The dim sum is easily 5 star. However, be a little wary. They have a lot of expensive special items and the waiters push them aggressively. The banqueting was perfectly ordinary. For the cost per person, there are plenty of other Cantonese restaurants that offer better banqueting at a lower cost. Over all, 5 star dim sum and 3 star banqueting.

Please dont be confused by the location like I was and expect a moderate to somewhat fancy Chinese restaurant with a beautiful view of the bay. Rather, youll walk in the door to find dirty, fish-filled saltwater tanks and a somewhat worn, over crowded, loud building, that is not fancy, romantic, nor really that welcoming. Service was OK and food was OK, but I just cannot recommend this place for any real reason. Great view outlooking water, spacey and clean inside, I was invited by my friends originally from HongKong, and everything they ordered for us was so tasty. My favorite was this sweet glazed pork that I took a picture of (this one was my request). Also, after eating so much, just step outside the restaurant and take a really nice walk along the water and the green park. It was a very pleasant lunch.

Arrived at 11:30 to beat the lunch crowd but they still wouldnt seat us close to the windows despite there being numerous empty tables open there the entire meal. Ordered an array of dumplings marked as restaurant favorites on the menu as well as baby bok choy. The grand shrimp dumplings and baby bok choy were pretty good. All of the pork and mixed meat dumplings were ok. The soup dumplings were terrible with almost zero liquid in them. For $30 per person, I doubt Ill be back.

I’ve revised my rating to reflect how much I enjoy coming in to eat dim sum with a beautiful view.This was my favorite dim sum place pre and during covid, we even had my mothers birthday banquet here. Today for LNY we decided to have dimsum and tried to call in an order, it was busy so we went in and ordered in person. There was a crowd of people who had called even before it opened and some waiting more than 1.5 hours. We eventually left because they hadnt called us after an hour. 3 hours later they call our cellphone once, so we go to pick up the food, but they said they called us multiple times and with no answer they threw the food away! I understand that its lunar new year weekend which could mean that they are short staffed and have much more orders than usual, but this is ridiculous.

My MIL made reservations at this restaurant for my SILs belated birthday. We live in Green Valley (Fairfield) so my husby and I were not super happy with having to drive to Emeryville AND crossing a bridge lol. We arrived with our boys and had to park across the street from the restaurant which was a little track. It was really busy with two big parties.They sat us near the window which had a view which was nice before the sunset. When we first arrived our original waiter checked on us to see if all our party arrived, which they hadnt. Basically, that was that for a moment. We waited for about 15 - 20 mins more mins upon arrival before there was any more activity to our table.What we ordered for our meal which was SO delicious!! We ordered Peking duck (with the bun and plum sauce), crispy whole chicken, their filet of beef (cooked med rare and to die for!), walnut prawns, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, seafood fried rice, tofu with snow pea leaves and this other dish that my SIL picked out that was made of only egg whites and shrimp. It was tasty.Our boys are good eaters and they enjoyed everything we put on their plates! Esp our 2 yr old. He has an amazing palette.Far as drinks, my husby and I ordered 2 rounds of whiskey sours. As he put it ... this is the best whiskey sour Ive ever had. And as for me, I thought they were refreshing! The bartender did forget to put the cherry in our second round. Oh well. That didnt make or break our meal.They also served us 2 complimentary desserts, sesame balls with black bean (super yummy!) .. did I mention that this restaurant also serves Dim Sum during every day for brunch (need to try that), and Im sure that is where those yummy sesame balls came from. We were also served a brown rice and peanut dessert soup. First, I thought it sounded kinda odd but worth the try. The soup was good definitely worth a try.If there was a negative thing I could say about our experience was that we were served water. After we finished our fulfilling meal we noticed there was no water. Not too sure if it was something we had to ask for. I know that some things have changed in restaurants, so maybe it had to be that. Sometimes you just need a sip of water and we didnt get it. Meh!Our last waiter John Lee was very nice and accommodating to our party of 9. He was friendly and attentive. We liked him and would want him to be our waiter the next time we go (which we will be back!) He is so nice. Then on the way out after dinner, we met Edith the hostess she was fun to talk to you. We told her about our experience there in the restaurant and she was delighted. Super nice!If you want some amazing tasting DimSum/Cantonese food this is the place to try. They are Michelin recommended!! Its a must try. And we will make the 30-35 minute drive. Thank you for the food.

Amazing view of the Emeryville Marina with plenty of parking. I would recommend going earlier to avoid the Dim Sum rush. There was still a lot of people when I went and the food was great although service was a bit slow. The food was execellent, everything I expected out of a solid Dim Sum restaurant. And! It has 2 Poke stops within swiping distance if youre interested.

The hours for yum cha are 11 am - 2:30 pm. Of course, my friends and I were the people who would be the restaurants worst nightmare. We arrived at the place at around 2 pm - half an hour before the restaurant/kitchen closes. You know ... When the restaurants is getting ready to close up to take a break and prepare for the dinner session?Anywhoo, we were able to get in most of our orders except for 2 items. Our order apparently didnt reach the kitchen before it closed. Bummer!The rice rolls dipped in xo sauce was luke warm. I guess the kitchen didnt warm up the dish completely. The salted egg custard bun was not as running as I would like it to be. I enjoyed the baked oysters. The dim sum here was mediocre at best.However, the view was pretty much breathtaking. You can see the view across the bay while enjoying your dim sum.I can see this restaurant as a great venue to hold wedding dinners. There is plenty of parking, restaurant space with an amazing backdrop of the bay for pictures.Ill probably be back because of the view and for the decently priced, mediocre dim sum. Ive been going to HK East Ocean for years. Ive always held it as a highly-rated restaurant. In fact, we had our pre-wedding banquet there. We had 6 tables for our family and close friends. The food was AMAZING! (Get the Chili Crab. You can thank me later.)Its not the least expensive Chinese food by any means, but you get what you pay for. The quality of the food is extremely high. The view of the Bay is super pretty during the day or night. The staff is extremely professional and friendly. The owner, David, sometimes comes to say hi to customers and is a hilarious guy.I highly recommend this restaurant if you want dimsum or great Chinese food!
