Hong Kong express reminds me of my childhood. I do enjoy them as they have good prices, food is consistent, and they always give big portions. They really stuff those styrofoam (ugh) takeaway boxes and give you your moneys worth. Stopped and got steamed rice and noodles which ended up costing $6.66. Worker made joke about seeing that number frequently. Luckily they take Apple Pay at location on harbor and Wilson.

Buffet style chinese in Costa Mesa? Found! A two entree completely overflows a togo clamshell. All the players are here; broc/beef, sweet sour chicken, ckxn n green beans, kung pao chxn and more! They have pork and teriyaki chxn. Have not tried yet and read pork can be a bit dry. Will have to try myself. 2 entre for 12$, done! So much food really you can split between two persons. TIP - Theres a lot of traffic on Harbor Blvd here. Lots of turn-ins too. Beware of that right lane and watch for people pulling out.

Burnt chow mein. Rock-hard orange chicken that bends your fork. Customer service nippy if you dont buy the bulk. There are better places you just need to find them. Dont even go here if youre desperate for Chinese food its a waste of your money.

Chinese Fast food. Food was good and inexpensive with huge portions. I ordered a 2-item combo with fried rice and the portions were huge enough to feed 3 people. I asked for chopsticks instead of forks but they didnt give me spoons for the fried rice. Service was fast. Plenty of parking.

Huge portion. They give like x 1.5 - 2 times more than Panda Express. I like the fact food is not overly sweet here. Even spring rolls are double the regular size. Taste wise it is pretty average, nothing impressive or disappointing. It deserves 5 stars for the portion and service.

The price keeps increasing. I dont think its worth $14 for a 2 item combo anymore. Its mostly noodles and rice. The green bean chicken was mainly green beans, carrots, and onions. The orange chicken is mostly breading and hard. If the guy comes up front to serve, wait for him to go to the back because the girls fill your plate up more.

Mr. Joe has been in business here for about six years now. If youre looking for the worlds best Chinese food then this is the place. Ive been eating Chinese food since I was a kid, plus Ive had a few years of culinary arts training so I think I know great Chinese food when I taste it. Plus Joe is super friendly so hes really nice to talk to when you come in for a great meal. Also, their prices are low and they really pack the trays so one order is good for two meals. I would recommend Hong Kong Expresd to everyone, you really cant go wrong coming here. 1/12/2018 Once again Mr. Joe has met my expectations of Chinese Food perfection with tonights meal of half and half fried rice and chow mein combined with Mr. Joes exceptional Kung Pau Chicken + Jalapeno Chicken. Add a couple of splashes of Kikkoman soy sauce and one whole side container of Red Chile Hot sauce and it will set your mouth on fire. Mmm mmm, thats what Im talking about. This format of Chinese food is great, Im a huge fan... But the barbecue pork was very dry and not flavorful on its own. Ill admit with the noodles in one bite it was much better... But the barbecue pork missed the mark for me a bit. The value isnt amazing but the location is great and the place looked and smelled clean.

BBQ Pork isnt too sweet, so thats awesome. Orange Chicken is on the sweeter side, not a lot of citrus. I like it that way, not sure about you, reader.Ordering A La Cart, aka Side Order, they definitely packed the large container. I had late lunch, late dinner, and some leftovers for breakfast. And I can eat similar amount for 2 people...

Quality of the food is why I dropped a star, its totally fine food but its nothing to write home about. I wasnt underwhelmed, but, I didnt expect much.This place got four stars for the PORTIONS!!! And the really kind staff.They really pile on the food, big chungus portions, much appreciated finally a place that gives you enough food!The staff is really nice and welcoming as well. Amazing for what it is. Its fast casual quick american style chinese food. I think their prices went up recently during covid but portion size is still huge. Getting the biggest plate easily nets you 2-3 meals. Chow mein has real thick noodles like udon instead of panda express mini ones. I think its easy for people to romanticize chinese food and if you do, you might not be happy with it. This place has cheap, delicious, massive portioned meals.

Googled Chinese food since we were coming from OC fair. Wanted to pick up to take home. Had a good rating and i am happy i stopped. Food was fresh (not old looking from sitting). This is a fantastic food spot. The amount of food is ridiculous. Barely ate half of my 2 entree. Visit this location on our trips to beach usually 1-2 times a year. Vegetarians out there: Ask for the usual rice/ chow mein . When asked for the sides, ask for the spicy/ no spicy tofu vegetables for both sides. It’s technically not out as a side option. They’re hesitant to do it for just one side, since it’s cooked by demand. I ask for both sides, and they’re very willing. I’ve been coming here for years instead of Panda Express across the street (since they’ve only had non-vegetarian sides up until recently, I’ve given up on them), this place has a better price for the portions!

This place is amazing! I work right down the street and this is the spot for Chinese food. Talk about portions you wont ever leave hungry enough for two meals. Everything is flavorful and the orange chicken is on point. Orange chicken is soft on outside, full of flavor and a crunchy center.
