Hooked on Sushi in Carlsbad

Adding to place to our list of favorite sushi places, and they have several locations.We came here in a group of 7 and had a wait time of 20 mins. I personally think that its not too bad at that time because it was a full house. When we sat down our server was kind enough to let us know that the kitchen was backlogged and might take more than 15 mins for our orders to come out. She took our orders as soon as we were ready.Their menu has a large selection to choose from and it might be overwhelming because of all the good food items you would want to order. We ended up getting several rolls to share and they came out much faster than we expected.My personal favorite and I highly recommend the Chirashi Sushi, I loved their North Coast Signature Roll and I enjoyed the Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll.Also, we were told that a part of the proceeds from the sales of the North Coast Signature Roll goes to a good cause. Thats a great motivation for me to get it - and it was also really good.On top all the good things I shared here, what was really the best part was the freshness of the ingredients, how clean it was, and how generous the portions are. The rolls and the sushi were big and had more meat that rice/extenders.We will definitely come back here again!

It was my first time here yesterday and I truly enjoyed my experience with the food. We ordered 4 different kind of sushi rolls and it was really enjoyable. The portion were great for the two of us. However, I did ask for their specialty that is more on the spicy side and the server recommended Super Mario and the first bite, to me was disappointing because the lime was overpowering all the flavor. The rest of our sushi roll was a hit. I ordered a 3 item combo as well and it was perfect portion. I had the salmon teriyaki, Chicken Katsu and Tempura. It was packed on a friday night so it was quite busy. My only recommendation is do not be seated in table number 1 as it is very close to the entrance door. The banging of the door with people coming in and out was annoying and very distracting to people having a peaceful meal but overall, it was a great experience. I love the food here.

Great place for sushi / Japanese food. Fresh and food comes in super fast. I can highly recommend the tempura asparagus and the spicy sesame chicken. Sushi comes in perfect sizes.Overall really good. Service is great.

My friend invited me for lunch here and we had a great time! The sushi slices are really big and the prices are affordable.My favorite sushi and I always order this anywhere when available is the rainbow sushi. I love their rainbow sushi, the fish slices are big and they tasted fresh.Service was fast and we got our sushi in less than 10minutes after ordering. Seats are also very comfortable and we had a wonderful time!

Take out review: Specialty rolls were just alright and stuffed with so much rice. The quality of the fish wasnt bad but quite unremarkable. It seemed quite busy when I came in to grab my order so I guess its doing well?Food: 5/10Value: 4/10

Hooked on Sushi was a great experience. The sushi was fresh and delicious. My son is gluten free and they had a GF menu. The rolls are large. They have a huge selection. All four of us were thrilled.

Visited last night. Had the ramen, crouching tiger rolls, baby lobster roll and sake.Super fresh and very good. We are in from Dallas and I’m just sad I won’t be coming back anytime soon!

Its always an amazing place for lunch and dinner. Been coming here for years.

Best dinner gathering with family and friends. Clean environment, nice atmosphere, and good service. My friends recommended Kama, a deep fried salmon head, and it was good.

Shortly before the pandemic we moved to Oceanside and tried many neighborhood sushi restaurants. 5 were disappointing one was Ok. Eventually we got to Hooked on Sushi. We have been loyal patrons for three years. Frequent visits for their lunch special which means we are there twice weekly.Their albacore is the freshest, tenderest Ive eaten. Many awesome rolls; Carlsbad Lagoon roll, Marilyn MON Roll, and Dark Knight.
