Hop Woo BBQ & Seafood Restaurant is a hidden treasure! From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the ambiance. The traditional Chinese decor, complete with hanging lanterns and ornate wooden carvings, transported me to another world. Its a perfect setting for an intimate dinner. The service was impeccable. The staff was not only attentive but also well-versed in the menu. They made fantastic recommendations, and their genuine enthusiasm for the cuisine added to the overall experience. Every request was met with a smile. Now, onto the food – it was nothing short of extraordinary. The Peking duck was tender with crispy skin, the hot and sour soup had a tantalizing kick, and the handmade dumplings were heavenly. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the chefs expertise. If youre in search of an authentic Chinese dining experience with a charming ambiance, impeccable service, and food that leaves a lasting impression, look no further. This restaurant is a true gem that deserves all the praise.

I wouldve given this place a 1-star review but the only issue that we faced was from one worker. The other workers were pretty nice to us and even helped packed up our food.My dine-in experience was decent and the waitress who waited on us was super sweet. But, when I went to order another order of chow fun to go, the woman who was working the register was sooooooo mean!!! She was extremely aggressive towards me. She got really upset with me after not being able to understand what she was asking through the muffled words caused by her masked face. She was talking really fast too! Then, when I asked for my receipt she annoyingly and angrily expressed that my receipt was with my change, which it was not. And when I pointed out that it wasnt, she aggressively put it on the tray with my change. The other worker mustve felt bad for me and kindly handed me my change and receipt which was right next to her.Worst of all, I had asked multiple times to NOT add chicken, and when I got home, there was CHICKEN in the dish.If you go, try not to get yelled at.

Service is great. Had s good meal with a Heineken. Ordered food for 2 and took 2 plates of leftovers home. Orange chicken, beef Chowmein, and veggie fried rice were all amazing. They have comfortable seating. It is Handicap friendly. Children are welcomed. They have spinning tables for food and booths. Not busy for a Saturday at 4pm. Will definitely return. They have the Sriracha sauce. Yum!!

Tucked away at the outer edge of Chinatown is home to the best lobster noodles in LA, if not North America. The four-pound lobster was that fresh and delicious. Cooked live from the tank, the taste texture, and richness of the gravy were comparable to the best kitchens in Asia. The dated premises and outer town location likely understated the restaurant’s attraction, but great for foodies.

Overall: 4.5/5 (Postmates delivery)We were a bit skeptical about this place due to the reviews but theres a saying (at least in our family) that you can find really good Chinese food - specifically dim sum - at Chinese restaurants with low ratings. Well, this is one of those places.Half Peking Duck ($33): This was what we were craving but it ended up being the least favorite of the 3 items we ordered. There wasnt a lot of meat, mostly bone & fat. It was a bit too salty as well. The skin was crispy though. The bun was soft enough but 6 buns werent enough for the half order of duck.Roast Pork ($22): This was fantastic! The top was very crispy and crunchy while the meat wasnt too dry and full of flavor. It is an umami bomb so I would eat it with something else like rice or veggies.Pork & Shrimp Shui Mai ($13.50): This is ridiculously expensive for 4 pieces of Shui Mai but this was actually one of the best ones I had in my life! The Shui Mai was plump and bigger than the usual size. Theres a good amount of pork and shrimp inside. It was so juicy, full of flavors, and just phenomenal.

I started revisiting Hop Wu a few months ago but strictly for takeout. Today, I decided eat in. The prices for lunch have gone up but not drastically so. However, during the so-called pandemic, the owners started using plastic lids in lieu of actual plates and really cheap quality plastic ware.Today, soup was served in a Styrofoam cup and accompanied by a cheap quality plastic teaspoon. A huge improvement is that an actual plate was provided along with a stainless steel fork. No chop sticks were offered. The lunches also no longer include an egg roll though they include soup if you dine in.Unfortunately, this restaurants brand screams frugal not a reputation any business should strive for. This place needs to rethink how it wishes to be seen.Previous ReviewI returned and found they stopped using plastic take out boxes in which to serve entrees but they continue providing plastic forks and spoons with which to eat with. This is not an inexpensive restaurant so I dont know if their theme is 3rd world but they need to fix it. The waitresses are mostly helpful but the husband and wife owners can be moody.

The food looks better in picture. I saw so many good reviews about how delicious the food was but honestly it had no flavor. The sweet and sour pork did not taste sweet at all, only sour. The kung pao chicken was the only dish that had some salty flavor. They also seem to add a “service fee” of $4.51 but they are essentially just forcing a tip on you because nobody really comes around to ask you how everything is or if you’d like a refill or extra napkins. I had to wave at someone at the front desk just to pay.

Food taste can be better, quantity is good. Price but on higher side. Takes a long time to order and get the food.

Ordered House Special Chow Mein which was fresh, hot and delicious. More than ample portions. Lunch specials weekdays. Great for large groups and families. Can get very noisy at times.
