Amazing place we came across.Outside seating is pretty cute and lively.Service was quick and food was good too.Surprised with potion of food per dish.Strongly recommend to split the naan with someone, its big dish.Free Papad and riata in appetizers and sweet funnel seeds with the check was a nice thanks touch.Will definitely come back again.

Perfect place to feast for Indian Food. Outdoor dining at night is romantic for a date. Parking is a bit small but cars come and go so you can have one very quick.Tried their Chicken Masala and they are very tasty and delicious. Had their Chicken Tikka too and they are good also especially when you dip them to the sauce of the Masala.Garlic Naan is delicious too.

Came here for lunch while visiting the San Clemente SB.Ambience is good.They had decent items on the menu for a buffet. We opted for it. Food is tasty and served fresh.Liked:Chats - Pakoda, Samosa ChatEntree - Dal,, Veg Jalfrezi, Paneer TikkaDessert - Kheer was good.Not so liked:- Roti(was little hard)- Mango lassi - didn’t felt like it was made with mangoes

I frequent this place all the time and the food is always excellent. The professionalism of the staff and servers make you feel pampered and well taken care of. My glass of water was never empty and I got my food within 15-20 minutes. I highly recommend this establishment. Great food!

Came here with the family for lunch and we all enjoyed the food. It was all you can eat. I must have had 5/6 plates. It was so delicious! I like spicy food and they had this sauce that was good with anything. I’m definitely going to be coming back soon!

This is definitely our new go-to spot for local Indian cuisine. The food was spectacular, flavorful, and came to us so fast! The “bread” they bring out before your meal comes with 3 dank dips that will light up your palate in preparation for the amazing meal to come. The little copper bowls everything was served in were so cute too!Our waitress, Stella, was very kind and attentive & we really enjoyed chatting with her for a while. The other staff members were just as nice, welcoming, and hospitable.We came around 8:30pm and had the place pretty much to ourselves. Nice atmosphere, good and friendly service. Even though I gave it a 5 stars due to this, the food was not quite as good. The biriyani was a bit too oily. We chose medium for the spice level but everything was a bit bland. Maybe everything would be better if someone were to pick spicy. That said, overall, the restaurant was enjoyable. The best of the foods were the naan and the tandoori.

Best Indian food in town, in the area, even! My husband and I went for a walk near the beach and after we decided on Indian food. We chose Hot n Chili based on amazing reviews. Great Indian food. It is so nice to be here checking out new places. We saw this place has many good reviews and decided to give it a try.They did a good job with COVID compliant policy. Most people seat outside. The staff was polite and attentive. They recommended us to order the vegetarian chef special dish. It came with a huge wok. Food was delicious and medium spicy made it taste even better. They can make garlic naan without butter which is plus for vegan folks. I absolutely love this place and will come back again.

This spot will certainly scratch your itch for Indian. The decor is tastefully done so as to not be gaudy or excessive. I exercised caution with the spice level and was pleased with my meal. One party member did not exercise caution and went with the hot option and was in a world of pain and perhaps stricken temporarily deaf. The staff was very affable and helpful in ordering.

This place makes the best food. Their naan is the best I’ve had in the US - it tastes wood-fired and delicious. Every curry I’ve had here is especially flavorful, and the karahi is so yummy. Their spice levels are legitimate, and the service is excellent. Highly recommend if you want delicious food in San Clemente!

My friends and I stumbled upon this place looking for a place to eat after a beach trip. We were surprised to see an Indian restaurant in San Clemente, but it appealed to all of us so we took our chances. And Im glad we did!This was probably one of the best Indian restaurants Ive been to in OC. The food was amazing and the service was as great as the food. We were treated like guests in a home. I had ordered daal tadka and fish tikka. The daal was amazing and came with complimentary rice but the fish tikka didn’t fulfill my expectations. It was very bland and it was burned and we could smell the burned smell the whole time we ate it. The daal though was amazing and took good care of us. They have some cute decor inside to give the Indian culture vibes and the ambience is good too.

I ordered beef Tika mesala, and he ordered lamb Tika mesala..The mesala tasted like it was the same sauce as the lamb sauce my husband had. It was disgusting, and I didnt eat it.The roti was pretty ok, and when I looked down, the tsbel clothe had old food on it. I will never eat there again Im sorry to say.

This is my second time to this place in 2 weeks. So yummy! I love the lamb korma and it was perfect. The meat was so soft and broke really easy. This is one of our favorite places to eat in San Clemente, delicious. The service is amazing and well, cute Stella is so friendly and the other staff is amazing as well. Highly recommend if you haven’t already tried it out.

The samosas were delicious as was the tandoori chicken and Aloo Ghobi. Unfortunately, the mint chutney tasted different than any weve ever had before, it may even have been fermented? That is my favorite thing normally so it impacted the meal a lot more than anything else would have. We got the chicken with medium spice, due to the comments from others here saying the food leaned bland and it was perfect, definitely not the heat younger with medium other places. The staff was very attentive and kind as well.

Can’t remember the last time I had Indian food this good! My friend has been talking this place up for months and I finally got to go. With the high expectations, I was concerned it wasn’t going to live up to the hype, but it exceeded it! Not a single thing we ordered fell short. Lamb curry was the shining star of the meal.

This was a wonderful experience. We sat outside, away from others. The waitress/hostess turned on a heater for us, too, which was nice with the chilly evening air. The servers were attentive and probably filled up our water half a dozen times. The food was delicious, and for the price, felt like a good deal. For the spice level, with our mixed party, we felt mild was perfect. One of the waiters brought a tray of spices so we could change the heat level for each plate. My party of three ordered two entrees and naan bread and we walked away with a bit of leftovers, full. They gave us candy coated fennel with the check!It was a safe and tasty meal and the service was good. We will definitely be back.

This place was awesome! We didn’t find Hot N Chili, it found us. We were meandering the streets of San Clemente ready for supper and this gem stood out. We wandered in and were pleasantly greeted and sat. The service was great but the food was even better. Man, some of the best Indian food I have ever had! Friends and I were looking for a good late night dinner and stumbled across this place during the week day. The service was fantastic, food came out quickly, was hot and flavorful. Outdoor atmosphere was nice its in a historical location, fun to read about the history of the buildings. Topped of the meal with a licorice tasting herb which is supposed to help with gut health. I’ve been to many Indian restaurants, this was quite possibly the worst experience. The lamb kababs were stale and inedible. The food is extremely expensive and is not worth a penny.We also tried the butter chicken, it didn’t have any chicken or butter.

We ordered a lunch buffet and for the price we paid the spread wasnt that great. They had 3 vegetarian options (one of which was super sweet veg korma, felt like it was a sweet dish) and 2 non vegetarian entree options. The Chaat was super good and so was the dessert. No biryani in the Buffett was a bummer. They also charge for kids (age does not matter) which was a bit surprising.Will surely try other options before going there again.

This place is an amazing find! It did not look that promising at first! But then me and my friend ordered samosa and it was so good and fresh. I instantly knew this place will have fresh good food and fresh good quality naans! We ordered Dal makhani and Butter chicken, butter chicken was too sweet but had very good flavors. Indian cooking is about delicate subtle flavors and I think they overdid the honey but other than that it was pretty good. The Dal makhani paneer and Garlic naan were so good and fresh! Am going there again because they make fresh good quality Indian food.

As a lover of indian food, Ive been to so many spots around SoCal, and this place is by far the best ive ever been to. Its an amazing atmosphere, the staff are the nicest and most attentive ive ever experienced in any restaurant. The food was top notch, I ordered Malai Kofta the flavors and taste was so so so good, this paired with crispy garlic naan was absolute heaven after a day at the beach. I took my wife to this restaurant for her birthday. It was a wonderful experience. We had Samosas, Fish Tikka, Aloo Ghobi, and Garlic Naan bread. The fish was well-cooked yet moist and very tasty. All the dishes very good and had the perfect touch of spice. Not to little, not too much. It was a beautiful evening so we ate on the patio in front of the restaurant. This was not a temporary makeshift pandemic patio, but a dedicated built out patio with nice lighting and a central fountain. The service was excellent and Stella was very nice and charming. I highly recommend you give it a try. We will definitely be coming back.

Our first visit to Hot N Chili we were not disappointed. I ordered the sizzling Tandoori Chicken. It was the best Tandoori Chicken I have had in California to date. We recently relocated from a suburb of Washington DC that was heavily Indian so weve been spoiled with great Indian food for the past 10+ years.Hot N Chili can easily hang with the best of those. It is the best Indian in the area, hands down and when missing our old home town, we can recreate the great Indian food through Hot N Chili.Weve recently had take out and eaten in. I prefer eating in because the owners are so friendly and you can customize the food (e.g. spice level) with greater ease. We specifically wrote in the notes “NO SPICE” which when we go in person there has never been a problem they make the dishes with no spice. We were taking a small Orange County road trip driving down the coastline and stopped by for a sunset dinner. Stella greeted us and welcomed us warmly, right away. We like Indian food and have tried foods from different regions, so we mentioned this to her when asked if we like Indian food. I let Stella know I had had an Indian roommate during college who was from Kerala, and I liked their food very much. She said she was from Kerala! What a neat surprise. Papadam was set on the table with a variety of chutney and spiced yogurt. We ordered lamb karahi, a chefs special that Stella said was an excellent choice. It came out steaming in a pan set on the table and roused others curiosity. Lamb was melt in your mouth tender accentuated by the sweet peppers an and tomato sauce. Very good. Vegetable biryani, an Indian pilaf, was very aromatic and had a complex combination of spices, very authentic. Tikka masala, the British favorite, was smooth and again well spiced and just right. Chicken was tender and tasted clean, good quality meat. Roti was great for picking up the sauces. I tried following Jonathan Golds rule of avoiding the menu items youve heard of and ordered many times before but I couldnt resist. Use the Yelp check-in deal and get the free mango lassi. The rice pudding and gulab jamun were strong on the cardamom and had me thinking of the Great British Bakeoff. They do not skimp on spice, aroma, and flavor! Try the chai, their tea with garam masala and ginger. Its a very nice send-off to salute a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Food was a delight and so was Stella, she was very kind. They deserve appreciation.

Just had most delicious Indian lunch at Hot n Chilli here in San Clemente.... Really exceptional.The rice which was simply plain Basmati was cooked exceptionally well, each grain was separate, no clumping. So beautifully cooked you could sprinkle the rice on top of the curry from a spoon.I asked chef about how he cooked his rice and learned a new way took my rice at home. Secrets are wash the rice well, maybe 5-6 times. Rapidly boiling liquid ( ratio 5:1 ). Add rice bring back to boil let boil for 1-2 minutes. Strain rice return to pot, cover with lid. Heat off. Wait 5-20 minutes as necessary.Value for money was exceptionally good for lunch for 2 with enough left overs for snack for 1 later.

Wow first time coming here and the food was amazing. The beef curry was full of flavor and the curry vindalu was very delicious and you can forget about the fresh made naan. Will definitely be coming again

SIMPLY THE BEST!!! THE VERY VERY BEST! I eat here, weekly, because it is authentically the best. I reccomend: garlic naan, lamb curry, chicken tikki masal or paneer, paneer spinach, and the dal lentil soup. I COULD LIVE OFF THIS SOUP. Eat here. Its the Best.
