2023-09-03 02:25:21Tried to call in an order to pick up and the guy that answered the phone was so rude and disrespectful. He repeated that he was closing in ten minutes and said “if you aren’t here my doors are closed “2x. I asked for a certain size of an order and his response sounded like he was annoyed saying “there’s no sizes it’s only one size”. The interaction was impossible for me to invest even $5 into . Please go spend places people have basic customer service skills

2018-01-14 03:42:27Food and prices are great, but one dude running a whole restaurant really doesnt go well. Hes does a million things; there isnt even any free water. Best to get it to go.

2022-12-01 21:13:27This is the best Chinese food I’ve had in the Valley. There are a lot of good, decent, reliable places around, but none that taste as fresh and homemade as Hot Wok.Before going here, be aware that the entire restaurant is run by one gentleman. He closes at 6 or 7 during the week and is closed on Sundays. He makes every order fresh. If there are orders ahead of yours, expect to wait a few extra minutes, but it’s worth it. They advertise delivery, but I don’t know if he actually still delivers considering it’s just him in the restaurant. We usually call ahead then go pick it up. There is no dining in option, just to go. Usually there is available street parking on Lankershim right out front (across from Starbucks). Some bad reviews have complaints that could have been avoided had the reviewer known and been okay with this information up front. The food has been excellent every time. Best sesame chicken I think I’ve ever had. Fried rice and lo mein are also excellent. My husband raves about the beef and broccoli. Dumplings are way better and taste way more like they’re homemade than other surrounding Chinese food places. Egg rolls are really good, too. They’re not the best I’ve had, but they’re the closest to real egg rolls I can find in LA. Most places have egg rolls on their menu when they’re actually just spring rolls (being from the East Coast, I miss real egg rolls terribly). 10/10 will keep this place in our take out rotation!

2023-07-11 09:14:19Idek what to say. I love it here!!! I used to get fried rice but then I tried the house noodles & omgoodness I fell in love & never looked back! I usually get the house noodles which is chicken, shrimp & beef w/ noodles, keeps me full all day. Don’t forget the sriracha sauce! I always get great service when I come here. Been a satisfied customer for years! Thanks Hot Wok, from your girl Nelly ❤️

2019-04-18 05:35:212018.01-02: we love this spot. To know Quong is to love Quong. The best FRESH Chinese food there is in the valley. WE DONT GO ANYWHERE ELSE. He doesnt have food sitting in the window for hours which makes your tummy uneasy after you leave. Quong makes every order fresh with locally sourced resources everyday. Whatever he purchases at the market in the morning is what you get. Once its gone, its gone. So if you dont have Chicken and Green Beans that day, you may have Chicken and Broccoli. We love this man. Eat it fresh and hot. The Crispy Chicken Wings are to die for. A flavor we cant recreate at home. Every entree is simple and quickly made with perfection. If you dont have time to spare for hot, delicious food, dont bother staying and go elsewhere. Weve never fallen ill from anything weve eaten from here. He is a one man operation so have patience if you want hot, excellent food. If not, do us a favor and leave - he doesnt need your business. If you can deal with the Soup Nazi man from Seinfeld, youll be fine. Like we said, to know Quong is to love Quong. An excellent, honest, hard-working man who can cook his ars off. Definitely a must try if you havent already! We are regulars so you know well be back. Take advantage of the $4.99 lunch specials when you can! Totally FIRE.

2022-12-28 04:45:42This is easily the best Chinese food outside of Monterrey Park. Simple, not greasy, generous helpings of protein and vegetables in every dish, large servings for a fraction of the cost.Cash only!If you liked my review please give me a thumbs up👍🏾 and follow me for more honest reviews! 🙏🏾

2022-11-30 20:10:01Tried this place randomly and I was pleasantly surprised. The owner is funny, kind and genuine. The food was tasty, fresh, and well priced. Portions are on the smaller side (2 people per dish), but if you are 2-4 people getting a variety of dishes then I think this is a great place for take out Chinese. We’ll be back!

2022-09-24 19:44:24The food was good but this deserved a one star because the guy who runs it was really rude, condescending, and was shouting at me. It was my first time at the place. I looked at the menu online beforehand and thought it was a good deal for the price. I went into the store expecting to pay maybe around $20-25. As I was waiting for him to take my order I looked more into the physical menu which showed the same prices as the online. When my time came I ordered 4 items but he said it would be like $35 dollars! I didn’t know he didn’t go by those prices anymore so I had to go with three items instead of 4 to be able to afford it in cash. However he patronized me in a condescending, loud, and irritated way that I should have known those prices that he had listed were way back then and not possible to live by today. Instead of just leaving it at that, he kept bringing it up and repeating the same thing over and over as he went back and forth from the kitchen to the counter. He made it seem like it was my fault for not knowing that those prices he listed were false! If the man doesn’t want to get angry or irritated at people who want to purchase his food at those prices, he should update those prices! Otherwise how could customers know!??!!Although the food was good, I was treated very disrespectfully and shamed for what I didn’t know. This man has issues and I know I won’t be coming back to this place again unless he changes and treats customers normally.

2022-11-14 23:43:17NEW ENGLAND / EAST COAST PEOPLE:They have the infamous east coast Golden Chicken Fingers - order the orange or sweet and sour chicken DRY without sauce. Same batter, decently long pieces of chicken - the ONLY place Ive found in 6+ years of searching for them in LA. Eggrolls are also east coast style! The guy cooking/running this place is awesome too.
