Motor lodge style accommodation, new owners & renovated February 2020. I found out about this place through Sunset magazine.The check in was quick, the front desk was as helpful & “fun” as a door knob. Beautiful serene, clean grounds. We had the deluxe room (#18) that had good amenities but lacking a security safe, extra towels & the shower door needs an additional seal/strip to prevent water from leaking on main bathroom floor. Bath products are nice but doesn’t lather good. Room key is old fashioned key although cumbersome in this tech world, it made it easier to have a late check out, no key card programming necessary.It is off the main road, Mission Drive, but quiet enough being surrounded by big trees in the courtyard. The pool is small but have ample lounge chairs & good chill music. The location is less than 2 miles walking/biking to restaurants & wineries. Very convenient Tesla destination charger!!Front desk that checked us out was more personable & helpful!I would definitely come back! It’s an easy 2 night getaway from LA. I look forward to some improvements since there was no consistent amenities in the pool, ie towels, water, music.

Hotel Ynez is fantastic! The staff was very accommodating - they gave us great recs in the area and allowed us to do a late check out. The rooms were great - designed very well with great bathroom amenities and a wonderful bed. The grounds were beautiful - lots of different areas to hang out in and the pool was nice (the pool itself is not too big, but it is heated so we were able to swim in February). I really had a great time and this hotel and the area is beautiful - would definitely recommend and will be back :)
This place is amazing. Everything is super clean, the rooms have their own patio with a hammock, theres a few fire pits on the property. Its dog friendly and their small store in the lobby even sells stuff for you dog as well as alcohol and snacks. Staff is super friendly. I ended up staying here because the other hotel I was going to stay at cancelled my reservation. After staying here, Im glad my other hotel cancelled!
I cannot believe how pretty hotel Ynez is! The grounds are stunning and the rooms are really really nice! Seriously, the pictures on the website do not do just how wonderful this place is. The open area with fire pits was perfect and it was fun to play on the Bocce court. The staff is kind and friendly, too. We look forward to coming back!
Great place! The grounds are beautiful with huge valley oaks, rose bushes, and even a couple of sequoias. Rooms were really clean and nicely decorated. Everything was quiet and peaceful. The owners provided a delicious breakfast in the morning as well!
Great place to stay in Santa Ynez. Beautiful courtyard area with fire pits and wonderful places to sit and relax. Convenient location to area wineries. Rooms are nicely appointed and each room has it’s own hammock.
Very relaxing get away. Great setting, small motor lodge style hotel. Room was nice, comfortable and beautifully decorated in a style my grandmother would appreciate. Pretty well maintained but could use the services of a talented handy-man. Breakfast was good, nothing extreme. We may stay again in the future.
My fiance and I stayed here 2 nights recently in room #14. Staff was very very friendly and breakfast was good but the room was cheap looking and cheap feeling for the price. Paint was missing from different parts of the walls & by the mirror by the bed.The bathroom door looked really bad, it was all scraped up, paint missing. U could feel the floor moving from under your feet, like u were stepping on dirt covered by laminate wood flooring. Exposed piping all under the sink. Very nice garden setting. Would not stay here again. $500 for a weekend definitely not worth it. Maybe the other rooms dont look like this, but our room did. U would think before u put a couple in a room, that u would fix any discrepancies in the room. Landscaping is very very nice.
We stayed there for two nights and we love it! It was cute and organized, clean and quite. The location is good, few minutes drive from everything. We would definitely come back. A good place for a close trip from LA
We reserved the room with a hot tub in a side private yard. It was really relaxing and quiet and provided the getaway we were looking for. The room was on the small side and the fridge was loud so we just unplugged it. Also, the pillows were uncomfortable. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and the service was great.
There is a $200 dollar charge associated with losing a hard key to the hotel. This should be stated verbally by the front desk check in, not buried in the Terms and Conditions. Think about switching to key cards since this is a ridiculous charge and an outdated system of getting in and out of your room.
I’ve stayed here a few times over the years and loved the location and prices. Was very pleasantly surprised to see the new full renovations completed and how good of a job they did. Beds are insanely comfy, fireplaces added to the rooms, the courtyard has 2 fire pits and lounging areas, staff was great and we can’t wait to come back.

Was in town for work and got to stay for 2 nights. Staff was very friendly. The Inn was very cozy and had everything you need to stay comfortably. It was clean, had a Danish feel to it as it was in the outskirts from the town Solvang. The room was equipped with a stove, refrigerator and had pots pans and cups along with utensils conveniently ready to use. It was very quiet and close to a market place where they had a good range of food and a coffee shop. It was also not too far from what I believe was the downtown part of the city. I would recommend this location for couples (or individuals) who want to step away from the city far enough to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet.

Living in a city that never sleeps, Los Angeles, my hubby & I were looking for an intimate B&B away from the noise. That’s exactly what we got, a peaceful retreat, from the drive in to the drive out. We stayed in the King size spa room, and even though I don’t have a hot tub in our living room at home, I felt right at home. Cozy!! The room was spacious and well kept. Appreciated the vanity in the bedroom, this allowed our own space as we prepared for our day’s adventure in Solvang. The bed was comfy, just a tad too soft for my hubby but I thought it was great. I recommend this place to couples: a romantic get-a-way! The hospitality: staff was friendly, appreciated the open conversation in the Breakfast room, and of course the Veggie Frittata was delicious.The only disappointment, we arrived at 4 pm and our room was HOT & STUFFY. It took a while to cool down. (Hot tub came in handy). But will we be back. DEFINITELY!!
We always stay here when traveling in the area. Dog friendly, quiet and peaceful. Small grounds but beautiful. A remodeled and updated motor lodge done correctly. Location is perfect, Santa Ynez has a brilliant coffee house.
Charming, and reconstructed roadside motel now with a central garden and gazebo, and fire pit and trees. The rooms are comfortable and bathroom is well appointed. I overlooks a beautiful valley; quiet at night and and tasty homemade breakfast with a choice of cereal and and good coffee. Very interesting and eclectic mix of guests, and many who apparently spend good periods of time there and keep coming back.
I planned our two year anniversary here, which turned out to be very lovely. The inside of the hotel rooms are well kept and the outside is just as beautiful. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend a stay here if staying near Solvang.
I am not sure how to explain this place. I have stayed there twice and am still unsure, The rooms are small with the king sized bed taking up most of the space.You want to close the doors to the TV cabinet in case you have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. If you have a lot of toiletries they may have to sit on the lid of the toilet. Yet, I would stay there again when I am in the area.Room 1 has a small patio which is perfect when you dont want to spend a lot of money at the local eatery. Go down the road to the Rio Rancho grocery store and bring dinner back to your room.The grounds are beautiful and invite you to sit outside.Breakfast is not the usual hotel fare, they make quiche, frittatas, cinnamon cake and other goodies. Its a bit pricey, but worth it.
Charming and quaint rooms with a lot of space. The staff left us a small bottle of wine and two glasses for our anniversary, which was awesome! The Jacuzzis are fantastic and clean, and there is a small heater that glows like a fireplace for ambiance and heating (which can be turned off if you just want ambiance).The only reasons I have four stars and not five are that its not walking distance from town and the TVs
Staying here for a wedding. It is great if you can have multiple families who are going to the wedding stay here. great relaxing atmosphere with lots of outdoor patio seating. The staff is great and friendly and the rooms are great. It is a nice and quiet location.
Meadowlark Inn is a good middle of the road, three star inn. The rooms are clean, including the bathrooms. Its a fairly small inn, so each room is fairly unique in terms of decor, which makes it kind of nice. Family rooms are available, and other rooms vary in price due to things like having a living area, or a private patio. All rooms have a couple chairs outside the front door to sit and relax. The inn is situated around a circular gravel drive with a garden in the center. There is a grill and bench and seats in the garden, which is shaded by a large tree. The beds are fairly comfortable, but ours was noisy from the way the headboard was attached. The floors are tile and each room seems to have a different pattern. There are rugs on some, others are bare. There is A/C, but it is kind of funky..being controlled from a unit in the bathroom that runs it to a vent in the bedroom. The bathroom is clean, but it is dated..like pretty much everything in the inn. The place appears to be from the 40s which is more apparent when you catch a glimpse of the kitchen next to the breakfast room. Speaking of which, breakfast is served in the mornings in a room next to the office. There are a few tables and chairs. Cereals and breads are offered, as well as some hot item of the day. The food is simple but good. Better than what you will find in a typical three star hotel. They appear to offer some sort of massage/spa service from a sign I saw near the office. Staff is friendly.
Wonderful place! Clean, fresh, comfortable and charming without being fussy. Exactly far enough away from central locations to give peace and quiet and close enough to enjoy options spontaneously. Fits well with the natural surrounding. Proprietor was helpful and friendly without being cloying or artificial. The facility itself is a perfect blend of Solvanesque charm with landscaping and color scheme without any kitsch-y facade or trying too hard. Great value and authentically gracious.
First of all, I want to preface the fact that I have stayed at this particular hotel a few times and have stayed in many hotels in the Santa Ynez Valley (and surrounding communities), including their “sister” property, Skyview in Los Alamos. Although they may have slick marketing and interior design, their customer service is horrific, there are many issues that lie behind the façade.We generally overlook the small issues such as their undrinkable coffee (worst than a Midwest truck stop), their “no outside drink” policy when sitting around the firepits (Really? You know you’re a vacation hotel in wine country, right?), and showers that leak everywhere… all of that is tolerable, although it deserves a few demerits at that price point. Thats not where the real problems lies...Sadly, during our most recent visit on October 22nd-24th, we encountered an issue that was very troubling. When reviewing my credit card statements on November 5th (roughly ~2 weeks later) we noticed that we were DOUBLE-BILLED for our stay. The grand total should have been $922.16 total for 2 nights, but I ended up getting charged a total of $1,844.62 over 3 different charges. Definitely not a “minor” billing error, but certainly something that can be corrected rather quickly.I immediately contacted the hotel regarding the error, and received a response from the manager (Jason Brown) blaming it on a “PMS issue” (Property Management System), and that the “issue is now resolved”, and I should be seeing my refund the following week. Remember, this is after the close of the books for the month of October, and about 2 WEEKS past our checkout.I then responded to him as to why they didn’t notify their guests of this KNOWN double-billing situation – even just a simple email would suffice – and he didn’t have an answer... he essentially kept blaming it on their booking provider (Amadeus).Hmm… so they knew they were double-billing customers, but neglected to resolve the issue until customers came forward to complain?!? Now, if you ask me, that’s extremely shady. In any case, I let the issue go, assuming I would be refunded in the next week.Fast forward to over a month past our checkout (yesterday, November 29th). I was reviewing my credit card statements and noticed that I had never been refunded the $922.16. I also realized I’d never even had follow-up from the manager confirming if I indeed had been refunded. Again, very shady, and absolutely terrible customer service.I sent another email that night demanding my refund, and of course, no reaction. I sent another email today (November 30th) threatening to take this issue to the next level, at which time I finally I received a response from the manager (Jason Brown) saying that everyone had been refunded. Huh? Well, apparently everyone except for me, kind of like when they didn’t notify me of the issue in the first place? Hmm, right, okay - got it!As of today, I am still not refunded the nearly thousand dollars I am owed. I finally lost my patience with their dishonestly and filed a chargeback. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else (there are many good, local hotels) when you won’t need to scour your room changes, and you won’t get in trouble for relaxing with some local wine around the firepit.
The Meadowlark Inn is a charming bed and breakfast located a short distance from downtown Solvang. We stayed in the king suite and it was amazing! We had a corner jacuzzi tub, an electric fireplace, and a kitchenette with a little refrigerator and a microwave. They serve a light breakfast in the morning, (ours was homemade quiche) south bagels, coffee, and juice. Our stay was wonderful and we will definitely be back.
GORGEOUS HOTEL. Hotel Ynez is a secret gem of Santa Ynez/Solvang. Sister to Granada Hotel in SLO and Skyview in Los Alamos, this chic hotel is a must if you are visiting wine country. I arrived past sunset so the courtyard was lit with tree lanterns, torches, and bonfires.There are plenty of lounging chairs to sit back and relax and soak it all in. You can also kick back in a hammock in your private courtyard! It really is easy to spend the entire day here.. DID I MENTION THE POOL?? If you forgot your swimsuit the shop in the front lobby has plenty to choose from.The rooms are so well decorated and detailed. It offers a massive TV and a bar stocked with anything you might need to make craft cocktails. ALSO.. the beds are SO COMFORTABLE. 5 out of 5 stars. I will definitely be back with all my friends!
We always enjoy our stays at Meadowlark Inn...clean rooms, great staff and good breakfast. Large grassy area for groups to hang out in middle of the complex in afternoon or evening. Many places to walk and hike in the area. Close to great Santa Ynez wineries. Away from crowded area or Solvang, but short drive if you wish to visit that area. Meadowlark is Worth a visit.

Great place to stay, far enough away from town, but close enough that you can be in the middle of town in 6 minutes. Very nice room, clean, comfy bed. Breakfast is not great, but there are good breakfast places in town.
The inn is small, homey, with lovely grounds and staff. All of two minutes out of Solvang proper, its close without being in the middle of town like many of the other accommodations here. Pet friendly, quiet, a great choice for short or long visits.
This place is amazing. Its beautiful and serene. We had the Cabernet sweet which is a big room with its own private garden. The staff was helpful and gave us some great restaurants to try for dinner. Would definitely stay here again.
Conveniently situated, clean and tidy with a good customer service. We have enjoyed staying, although we both found the mattress far too soft for our comfort. Of course thats a very personal opinion.
Price and location are good if youre visiting the Los Olivos / Solvang area. Rooms are tired looking but the bed was great. The shower and hot water are good. About a quarter mile to a very good grocery store with a nice wine room. Worst problem was the tiny little TV. My computer monitor is bigger.

This place is so adorable! It’s quaint and cozy. One downside: the mattress I slept on was thin and uncomfortable. But the breakfast was quite yummy, simple, but fresh.

Nice, satisfying inn on appealing property with a good breakfast that is usually vegetarian. The Pinot Noir room we stayed in has a large whirlpool tub in the living room area that makes for romantic opportunities.

Small and cozy family hotel near Solvang and Santa Barbara. Very nice and helpful owner who is checking you in with a glass of wine and big smile. She is so sweet, she told us about all places of interests and best restaurants and places to dance. We really enjoyed our stay in this motel am recommend it to the families with kids.

When i arrived at this location to check in, There was no one to help. I tried calling the number listed but no one answered ended up waiting about 40 mins for someone to come help (by chance). Other than that i did get a free bottle of cheap wine for the inconvenience also real good Breakfest and clean rooms.

If I give this place 5 stars, everyone will want to stay here. And not everyone should. Some reviews here seem to be complaining that there are no bellhops in sight or some other exasperatingly inane comment. No, there is no room service here. No red carpet. No bar that stays open late. Someone was even complaining that the old-growth oak trees were blocking the wi-fi signal. Well.I can’t even tell you if the wi-fi worked; I intentionally quashed the restless urge to check, deciding instead to disconnect from all such pressures during my stay. And this was very easy to do here, it turns out.It feels like you’ve been invited to stay at a friend’s guesthouse for a couple of days, rest yourself in one of the comfy chairs in front of your room, and allow yourself to converse with your neighbors about things to see nearby. Yes, of course, the property is old. That’s the point. There’s a 200-year-old oak tree and a couple of lovingly-cared-for redwood trees growing in the middle earth garden. Everything is surrounded by cultivated beds of flowers, fragrant shrubs, and grape arbors, and flowing with the constant sound of water fountains everywhere. Breakfast is offered in a cozy room off the kitchen, and if you can’t find the owner in the office, she’s cooking a delicious egg-tomato-and-asparagus casserole, checking on a room, or offering a guest a seat cushion out by the evening campfire. The rooms are clean, quiet (except for the fountains and the birds chirping), and just plain comfortable. I never once turned on the air conditioner, nor needed to, despite the record-breaking July heatwave; it seemed so incredibly wrong not to leave the windows open and let the fresh, naturally-cool breeze fill the room with its own fragrance. Re-freshing is the word for this nest, in many more ways than one. But don’t tell everyone. They might complain.
Quaint retreat a short hop to the Solvang village, Los Olivos, Chumash and surrounding wineries. Rooms are very clean and well appointed with the fundamentals. Our room had a small TV and mini fridge but with all the local activities we weren’t planning on staying long aside from catching z’s. There are some BBQs and apparently a fire pit on the center of the garden cul de sac. For the price point, highly recommend to any looking for a romantic or peaceful getaway to Santa Barbara Wine Country.

Very nicely restored former motel. Tasteful furnishings, pretty gardens, small pool and boutique. The campfire burns in the morning and evening - great idea in cool weather. The location close to Solvang and Los Olivos is ideal.The service at breakfast could be a little better. When fruit or luggage ran out, nothing was refilled, which is a shame...
We stayed at the Meadowlark Inn for one night and absolutely loved it! The hotel is quietly located just before the village of Solvang. The hotels natural surroundings make it a true oasis of calm. We could have a barbecue in the evening and enjoy the day in beautiful Garren until sunset. The hotel owner was very friendly and the breakfast was very good! I would come back here anytime.
A wonderful and very cozy hotel! Very lovingly furnished, the garden is also simply fantastic.I had a larger room with a seating area and kitchen (Trebbiano) - highly recommended.We stayed here for one night while passing through - but Ill definitely come back here again for several nights: its so relaxing here and the surrounding area is perfect for hiking and enjoying.

Friendly staffThings to improve on: have a food bar perhaps with pre-made sandwiches. Fire pits are turned off at 930pm. This is the biggest “complaint”. We we’re enjoying ourselves sitting by the fore talking and had to call it a night at 930pm.Overall: highly recommend. Great place to stay if you want pure relaxation. We will come back.

2023-08-06 00:01:04Unfortunately although it looks fantastic online, the social media and photos do a great job to create an air of luxury, there was some disappointing aspects. The feel is that a lot of money was poured in initially to great a great aesthetic, nice garden landscaping, a pool, etc. but then the money stopped. The rooms were not clean on arrival, we found a small amount of blood on two spots, the coffee machine was untouched and the counter had coffee stains from recent use. The patio looked unkept, no cover on the Jacuzzi, a cigarette butt and champagne wrapper, plus the fire pit needed a new battery (a guest shouldnt be the one to identify this on arrival). This lack of cleanliness expanded to the pool, the towels on each chair are stained - they are white and bleach could easily correct. Last negative - this is close to the road and thats not the fault of the hotel, but why not use the garden speakers to create ambiance? The positives - breakfast was nice and we enjoyed the quiche, the location is an easy drive to all the nearby towns, and the outdoor garden area was very pleasant to relax in and play bocce.

The communal grounds were beautiful, and the fire pits were a nice touch for the chilly evenings. Quick drive to the town of Solvang and Santa Ynez. Complimentary breakfast was yummy.We arrived at 12:30pm and figured we might as well see if there was a chance we could check in early, and we were thrilled when they had our room ready early for us. All staff members we encountered were very kind and helpful.Two super minor complaints: decorative throw on the bed seemed worn/dirty and should be replaced, and we were told we would recieve a 2-for-1 tasting at Sunstone, which was false. Both issues were not a big deal and we definitely enjoyed our stay here and the local area.

2023-08-17 04:36:12Nice Renovation to this property.I haven’t been here in a few years, it is really nice. Especially in comparison to what it was like…I loved my room, the grounds, especially at night. 😊🌌I would like to mention though that the housekeeping needs a little help.They use fabuloso cleaner which is disgusting, if you have an allergy like I do, it’s bad. It immediately brought on a severe migraine.My room smelled like someone spilled a bucket of fabuloso all over the room. The manager did offer to Re-clean the floor, which was nice, but it didn’t completely eliminate the invasive odor unfortunately.

2023-07-23 23:31:39I agree with Alvira Ks review written one week ago. We have been coming to this property for over 30 years. We have celebrated family reunions, friends getaways, and even our 45th anniversary November 2022. When it was purchased by Hotel Ynez we were so excited with the beautiful renovations!!! But, we had a similar experience as in the review I mentioned above. We were overcharged, even up-charged, without any explanation. We only received notification of these charges one day prior to our arrival. We tried talking to the new manager and received a very cold response. Sadly, we will not be returning. Please, please buyer beware!

2023-07-10 14:57:45We love staying at Hotel Ynez!! This time we were pleasantly surprised that they are now serving delicious pastries for breakfast!! The pastries are from Bakers Table in SY. The service is always great. Love the grounds and the vibe!

2023-07-11 06:00:20Be careful about this hotel charges. The place is very nice, spacious rooms and even Tesla chargers, but they over charge you and when you try to dispute, they dont admit. Will never recommend this place, until they change this policy. They did same to my friend...very upsetting 😡

Croissants tasted like they were a week old - breakfast overall super disappointingPool area needs more regular refresh of towels and waterWater pressure went down at some point but was fixedOverall I would stay again but definitely go somewhere else for breakfast
