I came here for the jajangmyeon and yaki mandu on a whim and couldn’t believe how delicious it was!!! I can honestly say the yaki kimchi is the best I’ve ever had. Everything was so flavorful and amazing. I started eating before I took pictures because I didn’t know the effect this meal was going to have on me. 10/10 perfection

They have incorrect hours posted everywhere. Yelp said they close at 9:30. Google said they close at 9:00. Their own huge LED sign outside says 10:00.I went in at 8:40 and they said they were closing so I couldnt order.I told the man that their sign said 10:00 and he told me that I read it wrong. I took a picture of the sign because it clearly said 10:00. I showed him and he just shrugged it off.Rudeness that nobody needs in their life, skip this place.

Overpriced, OK food. The sweet and sour pork was too hard and old to enjoy, but the spicy chicken was good. For these two items and a shrimp fried rice to go, $80 is way too much. Would have loved it if it were $20 cheaper. Will not return, ever again. Oh and none of the dishes were pic worthy so I dont have none.

BEWARE DONT ORDER SOUP. I ordered Hot and Sour soup. I was charged $8.75 to what was supposed to feed 2 people and I did ask the lady at the restaurant before I left this is the 2 person soup she said yes, yes. See photos below. I felt so cheated because the small size she had given me is the size you would normally get with a lunch special.Our other orders were the house fried rice, Mongolian beef, and the house pork. Loved the taste and very good portion size.This should have been a 5⭐ if it werent for the disappointing soup portion.

Came here for the lunch special. Ordered the House of Joy Chicken. Came with tomato soup (delicious), egg roll and crab Rangoon appetizers, Brown rice and pan-fried chicken.The egg roll was piping hot on the outside but cold on the inside (Im guessing it was frozen). The crab Rangoon is ok, but not good enough to bother with.The brown rice with chicken, however, is outstanding!

Had the Mongolian Beef. Cant complain. Very tasty with little spice and big portion.I got it to go and it was still hot when I started eating 10 min later.I did forget to ask for chopsticks thinking it would be obvious bit they gave me a spoon and fork.Good food!!

This place has the best Korean-Chinese food. The Peking chicken is a must. The sweet and sour shrimp was really good. Wife and I tried the green champong(seafood noodle soup?) and it was actually really good. My mouth is watering just writing this review.

Venue is not clean, floor carpet is dirty, overall it’s an unhygienic environment but food was not super bad, was acceptable and ok. Service was little slow but that’s cause of was a full house.P.S: I found a piece of hardened plastic wrap in my chow mein.

Very very dissatisfied in the food I received. I understand due to covid, I won’t be receiving the food that is pictured, but my food was a complete disappointment.I got the spicy cha cha mein with shrimp and steamed meat dumpling. The cha cha mein barely had any shrimp and had barely any flavor.I was even more disappointed with the steam meat dumplings. The dumplings were MASSIVE with a tiny filling, fell apart the second I touched them and lacked flavor. The kimchi that came with it also just tasted like pickled cabbage with tapatio on it.Overall, will not order from here again due to the flavorless and ugly food.

6/21/2023This place is not the cleanest nor nicest place to eat Chinese food, but it has been around since the 90s. Before the restaurant was in its place, it used to be in its place a small Korean supermarket.As for food, I will say its consistent. I heard that theres another House of Joy restaurant in La Crescenta, but I dont know if both restaurants are related.

Ive been coming to House of Joy for over a decade and the food hasnt changed much, more or less the same but the prices have skyrocketed! Service is Ambiance is fine, just another place to eat jjangmyun but to be honest if they werent down the street from where I live I dont think I would come back.

House of Joy serves Korean Chinese cuisine. They dont only do jajangmyeon (Korean black noodles), but they serve so many other Korean-Chinese dishes!I ordered jjamppong, which is a spicy seafood soup with noodles. I loved the spice and the hefty amount of seafood.My table also ordered the Peking Chicken and Lemon Chicken. They were both extremely crunchy. The chicken was juicy. And the sauce was amazing. I would have been fine if I had a massive bowl of rice with the sauce from the chicken but I had to move on to my jjamppong...lol

Great place for korean-chinese standards. Jjajangmyun, tanksooyuuk, yakimandoo, jjampong, etc. I see people come here for generic chinese food stuff like fried rice, chowmein, etc. because they probably dont know what this place specializes in. Its a gem for those who know this food, and this place is definitely one of my regular places to visit at least once every few weeks.

Been going to this place for 25 years. The quality has really gone down. Maybe the ownership has changed. Yesterday I had the Jjampong seafood noodle there. It was terrible. You can tell someone who does not care made it. It was full of large cabbage pieces and the soup was sub par with other KChinese restaurants. It is too bad because it is the only KChinese place I know about in Glendale California.

I ordered one won ton soup. I received a bag with the soup and another container with veggies. No seasonings no utensils or napkins. I was charged $22 + FOR THE ONE SOUP! THE PLACE IS LESS THAN A MILE AWAY. IF I WASNT SICK I COULD HAVE WALKED THERE.

The food here was really good. The flavors hit really well, and everything tasted a little better than what youd expect from a competing Chinese place. Not to mention, the portions are MASSIVE, and one entree could easily feed an entire family. I think that alone makes it worth coming here. The food didnt hit quite well enough for me to be a 5 star, but if I could give 4.5 stars, I would.

We wanted a local place as we are from out if town, and this place came up first for nearest Chinese restaurant in Google search. We noticed right away that it wasnt exactly a clean place. 4 of us each had a different entree off the 2 for $50.00 menu. While the portions were huge, 2 of us were extremely disappointed. The chicken in my sweet sour chicken was old and tough, the Mongolian beef my friend ordered was too spicey for her to eat although it did not indicate it was spicey on the menu. The other 2 entrees were satisfactory at best. The wait staff was too busy eating their own lunch at a table near us to be concerned This place is definitely quantity over quality.

Ordered lunch for parents, siblings, and myself. We had the orange chicken, jajangmyeon, beef w/ mushroom & bamboo, and a couple other items that I cant remember. I was the only one that enjoyed the food. The portions are HUGE, so the price per entree is fair. I have gone back for the beef w/ mushroom dish a few times now, but otherwise I dont think the food here is as great as some reviewers say. Ive had no problems with the service, either.

Went here for a birthday lunch with family. We have a vegetarian, a pescaterian, and meat eaters, but all were happy! The menu is actually fairly small, but there were good choices. Top dishes at the table were the pork belly sandwich in a bun, the ground pork and rice, and the chicken and rice. The only bummer was that you must wait to get a seat until after you order. Which was hard for 8 people. But the service staff was great, and they held our order until they could seat us all together.

This place was really bad. Ordered steamed dumplings and I kid you not they were the size of a freaking cheeseburger, and it also tasted like bad fish. It was the grossest, weirdest dumpling I’ve ever had and wish I didn’t spend 16 dollars on it as I couldn’t even get passed one bite. So creeped out.

Been going here years - super consistent and great Chinese-Korean dishes. Jajangmyeon ranks #1 or #2 in my opinion & thats including locations in Koreatown. Mushu combination is the best, best Ive had in Los Angeles, including locations East (San Gabriel). Tongtsu pork is a classic and delicious.Excellent takeout method - they cut holes so steam doesnt ruin crispy texture.

Although the first location is in Glendale, I’ve eaten here regularly since they opened. Chinese food with the occasional Korean flare. It’s nice to be able to eat and drink at a decent place while enjoying sports on the TV. I definitely recommend the Peking Chicken, they also have Peking Shrimp. They offer most of the Chinese dishes you would expect. No restaurant similar to this one in the area.

Very very rude service!!! Not family friendly at all! My child was crying and I was told to shut my kid up. He was only crying less than 2 mins. And when I started breastfeeding him, I was told I couldnt. There were only 2 other tables there who was talking and laughing louder. I use to always eat and order food here but after today, Ill never come back. Ive never had such consistently bad service. The food is not worth the really bad service.

Great choice for Chinese Korean food (that is: Chinese food made for Korean tastes, so much so that theres a decent argument to be made that its more Korean than it is Chinese). The 80s decor and no-frills service is part of the charm(?).As youd expect, the menu is dizzyingly long, but Ill leave you with one recommendation: the Kung Pao Tofu. The sweet and very slightly spicy sauce somehow complements the fried tofu and peanuts better than it does its shrimp- based cousin.

There were some without any meat inside, the sauce was pretty good tho.The jjam bbong and the three sea jjam bbong had NO DIFFERENCE. The only difference was the price. So dont order the three sea one. The taste of the jjam pong soup is not bad, and overall, the noodle was tasty.FYI: this is Korean style Chinese food.

There is a Chinese restaurant name on the name of this restaurant, and Chinese restaurant is written in English. The Korean Taegeuk flag is printed on the door. The receptionist is a buddy with darker skin. Stir-fried beef with broccoli and a box of rice, $26. Sure enough, it is not a Chinese taste after a try. It is an improved version of Chinese food, but foreigners must like it very much😀

I remember going to a good Chinese restaurant in Glendale, especially the Beijing fried chicken and Yusanseul, which were really delicious, and the other foods were generally good as well. The price isnt bad either. I recommend it.

I tried not to post a review if possible. ㅡㅡ Please never order sweet and sour pork here~ I regret it. Better than regular food court sweet and sour pork. worst. There was no seasoning to the meat, it was bland and the batter looked like it was fried by an amateur. The sauce also has a strong sour taste. Maybe the chef has changed... The jjamppong is different from before and not as good. Its a pity... Its hard to find a Korean-Chinese restaurant in this area. Now I have to go out and eat. The La Crescenta branch wasnt that good, and Glendale wasnt that good either. They need food quality control....

I dont understand why people give this place 5 stars. The taste of food is different every time. Jajangmyeon for lunch today is Jinna Kwang! Potatoes cut into thumb size. It wasnt fully cooked either... the ingredients were large so it wasnt moist, so when I rubbed it together, I could see all the white noodles. How to eat this... Its a waste of a star.
