Always very busy. AYCE shabu shabu. Meat was good. Small portion of meat was offered throughout the meal . Decent meat quality. Expect one to one and a half hour to finish the meal. If you like very spicy ask for the secret special hot sauce.
Great AYCE option for those that can’t decide between sushi or shabu!House of Shabu Shabu is another AYCE spot that offers both sushi and shabu at the same time. Two menu options are provided, and the pricier one comes with more variety of meats and sushi. The sushi quality was decent, so it seems like they put the shabu first and foremost. The meat quality was actually impressive; no ice crystals or odd thickness on the slices, and good amounts of fat. Biggest thing to note is that the shabu ingredients come out much faster than the sushi; the sushi took a long while to come out per order. I’d recommend ordering a lot of sushi at once if you’d like to try them.Seating around the bar top was nice and I’d imagine we got faster service from there, but I’d like a bit more spacing between the seats. Good use of space in the restaurant though! The ambience was really laid back, and whoever’s playlist was playing at the time really added to it.Give this place a shot if your group can’t decide on either option!
21 bucks for an all you can eat shabu shabu place?! This place is not very big, so be prepared to wait if you go at a peak time. Servers are attentive and food comes out very fast.
This place is very different from any other restaurants. They do not give you plates, you use the bowls of food to put into the hotpot or your rice bowl. They also absolutely refuse tips. It is actually written on your receipt that you should not leave any tips at all whatsoever...
There forget a lot of things and the food taste like air but I like the atmosphere and the looks make the restaurant seem good. They also don’t give you a lot for desert

This place is awesome! It was my first time eating here and I was surprised I never knew about it. They dont accept tip because their workers are well paid and I think that is an amazing concept other restaurants should begin implementing. Also, please dont put capsaicin oil in your boiling broth because everyone will start coughing and crying - thanks!!
Possibly the worst service and dining experience Ive ever encountered. The manager had to come out multiple times to correct the servers, who are either entirely untrained or just give no Fs. And most supposedly family friendly facilities might say something to people who are visibly drunk, over served, cursing at the top of their lungs. How many f bombs is a reasonable number to hear b when you have kids with you, or just want to eat a meal in peace?
Have been coming here for almost a year, at least once a month or 2.I always love their beef belly! Really recommend it. Their main seating is like a bar setting, with only about 3-4 booths available.They have 3 tiers for their AYCE. It can be relatively decent price of low $20s to as high as 35$ -ish.Higher the tier, the more appetizers and sushi you can add.At the end, you get a free smol ice cream. I typically notice it is either green tea or vanilla flavor.Really recommend if you have a small party. Larger parties are welcomed, but expect to wait a while since seating is more catered to smaller parties.
Perfect sukiyaki broth, the miso soup was a little bit saltier than I expect. Good quality of meat and white fish. The shrimps are not so tasty but acceptable. Nice customer service and lots of parking spot. They also give out free matcha ice cream to customers. I recommend AYCE special #2 since it has more kind of meat to choose ^^
All you can eat shabu with lots of great side dishes to chose from. Staff are always friendly. Food is always fresh. We get the ribeye and beef belly. Broths are tasty. Go early to avoid long lines.
I have been here over 10 times and I keep coming back for more!The amazing prices ($21 for AYCE shabu & sushi for dinner) and the variety makes it SOO addicting.Wait & Seating: I usually get here around 7 or 8pm on weekends and almost always wait at least an hour to get seated. It can get pretty hot on the high chairs that are further from the doors, so if you have a choice, try to sit on the lower tables.Food:I have tried the tomato, spicy miso, spicy tonkotsu, and spicy & regular sukiyaki broths and I like spicy tonkotsu the best. Second place goes to the spicy sukiyaki. The broths in general are a bit on the watery side, but it does not matter too much since the meats and veggies have dipping sauces. The ponzu and goma (sesame sauce) have improved a lot over the months, but I still feel like it is a bit lacking compared to the other shabu places. For instance, the goma is sometimes more watery and does not really taste like sesame. The ponzu sometimes has a vinegar taste to it rather than a lime taste and sometimes it tastes too sweet. However, if you add radish and green onions to the ponzu and some chili oil to the goma, it can definitely improve the sauces.I always order the chicken wings here. They arent marinated or flavored, but theyre fried and actually very crispy and delicious. 1 order of chicken wings comes with 2 wings, so I usually have to order multiple. I also really like the kalgooksoo noodles (thick white noodles) since most places do not have this option.Sauces—Put radish & green onions in the ponzu for extra freshness, chili oil in the goma for a little kick. If you’re not scared of salmonella and you get the sukiyaki broth, ask for an egg and a bowl, stir the egg in the bowl and dip your meats in it for a more authentic experience. I have tried this multiple times and have never gotten sick!Service: The service is pretty great given they do not take tips. I always feel taken care of here and I can tell they all work really hard.However, the last time I was here, there was a piece of hair we found in our broth and it took awhile to speak to the manager about it. However, the servers and manager apologized and we received a small discount on the meal with the hair.
Excellent place to experience all you can eat hotpot and sushi. The meat was very fresh and the broth was flavorful. The sushi rolls are made to order and the tempura is very crispy. Add the spicy drops to the broth for bonus flavor. Staff is quick in serving and very attentive.

I spent 40$ (150$ party) on the all you can eat, but the broth was disgusting. There was absolutely no flavor. We were basically just eating boiled meat. No seasoning at all. The pots get filled with fat and they didnt change it after we asked. It took us 15 mins just to reorder more meat or sushi, and when we did have the servers attention, they didnt take all of our orders and immediately left. Although we didnt eat much, it took us 2 hrs to get 8 pieces of sushi. Not 8 rolls, PIECES!!! The service was terrible. Please, hire more staff and pay them a livable wage so you can actually have staff that cares about their customers. I left hungry.
I highly recommend to try this place out if you can wait a while because the line and wait time will be long especially when its on more crowded days like Friday or the weekend. The servers are super nice and the service is great. Food is delicious. Its All you can eat hotpot, with your choice of meat like beef or pork, etc. Sides are absolutely great too and include sushi, tempura, chicken wings, etc. And they give you a little ice cream at the end for dessert too👍👍

Amazing halal food - unique, as this is the only place I’ve seen where you can get halal hotpot. The customer service is wonderful and they go above and beyond to take care of you. We called an hour after they closed because we needed a receipt and the person on the phone was SO helpful. Not only did he take the time to find the receipt we needed but also waited for us to come and pick it up before leaving. And SO polite throughout even though it was an inconvenience for them. Already was a fan before but will definitely support them even more now
This place is good with all you can eat for $22 or $35 per person, but be sure you can eat all the food or else you might get charged extra! I didnt know this place served Sushi, I had order many Spicy Crunch Roll and I cant get enough of it! Will definitely be back for more in the future!
The staff here is horrible and incompetent. Owners, please replace them for the sake and your business and the customers.- Never refilled water.- Constantly forgot and messed up items in my order and some never even came out. I saw them write down my order. How do you miss items?- One server claimed he can “only take broth orders” but was also taking meat orders. What?- The server somehow forgot the steamed rice in my order even though the rice cooker was literally next to the tables.- I also had to ask two different servers for the check because my server somehow forgot I asked for the check.
Their all you can eat is amazing. The selections of meats is really good and comes out pretty fast when you put in the order. Service overall was good. Only negative was they werent fully prepped when we ate around 12. They didnt have all the green onions and radish ready. So my sauce was missing that extra tastiness. But the meat made up for it. The halal beef and beef belly were great.
Great, delicious food for its price. Around $20 for all you can eat with no time limit as of yet. Complete meal with complimentary ice cream. Downside is, they are understaffed and the place is very busy. They dont accept tips and that is probably why employee retention is low. For the customers though, it is exemplary food at a great price.
Lots of different flavors for broth and excellent quality meats for an all you can eat place. The lunch option doesnt have as many options as the dinner one but lunch option B has almost as much as dinner option A. I love that the place doesnt take tip and the customer service is always good. The ice cream at the end is a nice little addition to end the meal with.
The food is great and very tasty. If you know what to order in this restaurant, you will enjoy your time here. I ordered a special #1 and I love it. The meat quality is great and fresh. Definitely would come again. One thing that I hate is the service. With the restaurant this large, you could at least have more servers but I only see 2 servers serving everyone which is very inefficient. If you expect to be served during the weekend, dont waste your time because it will be crowded.
Still my favorite all you can eat shabu shabu hot pot and sushi restaurant in Irvine! The wait on a Friday night can be up to an hour+ if you have more than 3 people, if it’s 1 person or 2, the wait time can be shorter! They seat you based on what’s available and single seats are generally available faster! I’ve been a loyal customer here for the past 4 years, despite the raise in prices for quality meat, I still consider it an amazing deal for the all you can eat hot pot and for some sushi rolls too! They haven’t had chicken wings in a while tho but they still have that yum matcha green tea ice cream at the end of the meal! My favorite broth is spicy miso and for about $35 you get the quality meats and sushi choices, and for $22 you’ll still get a decent selection of food. I’ve sat next to other loyal customers that were traveling from Singapore and they said they always have to stop here before they leave the states! The servers work hard and I appreciate them so I always pay tip even though in the past they didn’t allow for it.
I love this place, super casual. I will say sometimes the wait is insane. Ive waited as long as 2 hours, but I think that was during spring break, so there were a lot of UCI students.The food is delicious. Its hot pot, so they bring out all your meats and you cook them yourselves. They have various broth choices that you can pick from and a weekday lunch special for those of you that are ballin on a budget.
The food selection for either of the two AYCE options are both decent. The wait can be quite long during normal dining hours. I observed two staff members taking 12 minutes to clean up a table for four, which contributes to the long wait. The servers are generally on top of things, but a few of them seem overwhelmed and training seems a bit lacking. Overall, good value for Irvine area. Good for small groups of 4 or less.
Haven’t been back in over two years and sadly, it’s terrible from food to service. Don’t waste your money and go somewhere else. The quality of meat is more fat than meat. The second star for the young man who saw us wait for our food. He looked frustrated that his coworker did not bring out all our orders and didn’t give us spoons. Sorry but this place will never see my face nor thoseOf my family again.
Recently went here and the service is absolutely trash. I ordered one order and didnt get it till the end of our meal. we had to ask multiple times to check the order whilst people before us were getting their orders. no apology either. the food is ok for what u order but i recommend going to another shabu place.
Great pricepoint for an AYCE shabu and select sushi rolls. Vegetables are provided, so the meal didn’t feel heavy at all. Beef and pork belly were very tender, and the spicy crunchy roll was probably the best sushi roll they had to offer with the AYCE deal
The quality of meat here is amazing!! The staff is remarkably friendly and helpful. It can get a little slow during peak hours, but that just means youll be pacing yourself enough to eat even more! Its quickly becoming a favorite hangout place for my friends and I.
I love coming to house of shabu shabu. The wait has been getting ridiculous, so many people come during dinner but that just says how amazing this place is. I would recommend coming during weekdays: lunch. Its also so much cheaper than dinner prices.Why I come back to this place despite the wait:- They have sushi- They have bomb chicken- They have a great variety of meat- Different noodle options- No tip charges- Free ice creamI also love how the restaurant is laid out. The chairs and tables are laid out to face the center and each other. It brings the community together. You can also meet cool people that sit by you. I also love how this restaurant has grown over the years. They really do cater to the customers. They have added so much more broth, and appetizers to their menu.Though the restaurant has gotten so popular over the years, the owner is so humble. The restaurant still gives me the mom and pop vibe!
Place has changed drastically since covid. The service is beyond terrible now even when its not busy. The old motto of business is gone now. I guess when they paid workers good wages they work great but since they started accepting tip the customer service has fallen. Ill still come every now and then but not as often as before.

Exceptional experience and worth any wait the hostess quotes you. Atmosphere is bare and slightly worn, again do not be fooled. There food is outstanding. The service is amazingly fast. I recommend the Sukiaki Broth. Enjoy something out of the ordinary all you can eat buffet.
Called my name exactly once, then gave my table to someone else by the time I walked to the front. Was told our group would receive the next available seats, and stood waiting for them. Instead, they seated two groups of who arrived after us. There were two empty tables with a group of two seated at one table, so why did you seat the two groups of three who arrived after us? It was incredibly rude.We decided to leave and find another restaurant who wouldnt ignore customers trying to spend money there. Thanks for ruining our night as former repeat customers. We will spend our money elsewhere moving forward.
Showed up 1 hour and 10 minutes before they closed, and they turned us down.Updating post: I finally went back and it was very good.It would be good for them to maybe post somewhere that you have to show up before x:xx time to be seated because its a drive to get there, but Ill give them a pass because theyre so crowded and their prices are so good.
Update 3/6/19 - We came back again and service was actually good, except we waited over 30 minutes for lunch.All you can eat was great value. the ONLY thing is very slow. We were one of the first groups to order. The entire place got their meat except our party. Finally after 15 minutes it finally came.. Dont expect speedy service.
Overall: This has got to be my favorite AYCE Shabu Shabu spots in the OC. They have an extensive menu that comes with a variety of meat, sushi, and sides! For all those halal eaters, their beef, chicken, and lamb are halal! Of all the times I have come here, we always got quality meat and sushi. Its a popping place, so beware of the wait times. During peak hours wait time could get as long as 45 min - 1 hr! Honestly though, I think the wait is worth for the quality and variety of food.Food: There is so much to choose from and you really cant go wrong with what you choose unless youre allergic to something haha. All of the meats are pretty high quality for an ayce restaurant. Always comes out delicious after cooking it! Love their sesame sauce! Compliments all of the meats so well! Their sushi is okay, definitely not as good as other actual sushi restaurants, but is not bad at all for a shabu restaurant. It will still satisfy your sushi cravings! But if I could recommend one unique thing, it must be their shabu sushi! Its really delicious and juicy!!Pricing: Pricing is also fantastic. Its 21$ for the basic dinner menu which already is extensive and I believe its around 6-7$ more for the full menu! They also do not accept tip. With the quality of food and the pricing, you really get the bang for your buck at this place!Service: But do remind you,even though most of my experience here is fantastic, they are still a popular ayce restaurant. I do think that service kind of lacks sometimes and you tend to have to wait even after being seated due to the large quantity of people the servers have to tend to. I would recommend just ordering two rounds in the first round since it takes the servers to get around.
It was good and the first ayce shabu Ive been to. I was a little bummed that they were out of half of the things on the menu but I ate plenty enough to fill me up and thinking that another visit will enable me to try the things that I havent yet. The flavor and freshness was good. The service was friendly. The value was right. I dont think theres anything bad to say about this place and theres plenty of good things to say but the only thing that was inconvenient was the wait. It was a long wait to be seated but I cant really blame the establishment for being popular.
The food is amazing. They really need to arrive 30 minutes early and clean up the dirty dishes from the night before. They leave them in the hallway near the restrooms overnight. Since we usually arrive when they open seeing the dirty dishes in the back just really creeps me out. Sometimes restaurant owners cut the wrong corners to save a few bucks. The bathrooms are always smelly.

I believe its so highly rated because of the 223 not recommend reviews at the bottom of the page, so hopefully my review doesnt get hidden by Yelp. Maybe they pay for the bad reviews to be hidden.Being a server in the industry, Im very patient and tolerant of restaurants, but there was just too much going on that pushed my buttons. Firstly, the wait was a little over an hour which I didnt mind at first. However some of the tables that sat 4 opened up first and the host, whom I assume is the owner, would sit parties of 3 and 4 first even though there were more than 5 parties ahead of them. I used to work at a Shabu place and usually if the table burner fits about 2 soups, then parties of 2 would still be sat.Once sat, I tried to be even more patient since the servers looked so rushed and stressed out. However, when ordering I think he forgot to ask for drinks and forgot to ask us what type of noodle and rice we would like, which automatically comes with the a la carte price. I didnt realize it until later, and when I tried to grab someone to ask for it, it took a while. What if I had not asked, would they have charged me full price for everything? I believe this might be because most people order the AYCE option so price doesnt matter because people would rather have the meat option.They also ran out of garlic and I had to ask multiple times for everything. The meat and broth came out first but we were waiting for the rice and noodles. When asked, they said that they were backed up like I should just accept it. No apology, no let me go check on it just oh they are backed up. Once finished, we had to wait for the check to be brought, another 5 to 10 minutes for them to pick it up and only for them to forget to give our card back. I believe the servers are a little inexperienced since they would multi task but forget to complete the first task.I also hated how they would bring the meat out stacked on top of each other, because it was unsanitary and I saw them drop some meats along with hands touching meats. I also saw them put a whole tray of meats on top of the bussing cart where they put dirty dishes.I believe people come here because it is cheap, for the options that they receive but it isnt worth to wait this long. I would suggest more people working in the kitchen if their menu is this extensive. I believe the servers arent working for tip since theres a sign that says their servers are well compensated, but lacking in sympathy and experience.In my opinion, Id rather go to Dada Shabu since most of their options are at the buffet and the servers only grab the meat for you, but are more attentive. However they have a smaller selection of meats. House of Shabu Shabus quality of food was okay, standard ayce quality so nothing to rave about or deal with. I ordered the beef belly and it was okay. My boyfriend ordered the Kobe beef and that was not good at all. Didnt melt in your mouth or anything. The spicy miso was just spicy.
They change the quality of the meat on you after a couple plates. We stopped going here for a while then heard others recommended they stopped changing the meat quality on you so we thought we give it another try. We were optimistic at first because the quality was good until after a few plates the meat become crappy and very chewy. The color and texture are completely different from those few plates before that. We wont be coming back here again.
I havent been here since the the pandemic broke out and it is my FAVORITE restaurant but of course the best of the best is following all protocols:- Must wear mask when you enter.- Temperature is taken once you enter.- Must sanitize your hands when you come in (They provide their own automatic spray bottle and all you do is put your hands up to it to get sanitize)- All employees had their mask on at all times.- Everyone was separated accordingly for social distancing.- On top of the cleaning.They opened 2weeks ago and all you can eat is the best way you can go but its a little different you have make reservations before you come.
One of the better Shabu Shabu restaurants around. Fairly priced with NO tipping permitted so, it ends up being a great value. Great selection of items.Sometimes it can take a little while until your items arrive. Im not sure if its because they are trying to serve you slowly so you dont eat as much since its all you can eat or if it really takes that long to bring out the items.Regardless, Im still s fan of the place and will definitely go back and highly recommend it. Have brought many people here and they all love it.
Great meat quality and service for ayce. I always get the premium meats plus side orders, all of which are good. I think the best sides are the chicken wings and Shabu sushi. They have like 8 broths you can choose from. I like sukiyaki. They also have katsu broth. You get different meat levels based off an A or B menu (price difference) which I think is good quality for an AYCE. Always capped off with some ice cream too.
Last time two time I went. They were polite and hardworking. The food was so good they just to way to long when we order the Kobe roll. Which is my favorite. And their peanut sauce is amazing with the food.
What is great about this place is the price you pay for AYCE. You get as much meat as you want for around 23 dollars. I really enjoy the beef and the pork loin. Very tasty when it went with my miso base. There is no tip at this place so 23 dollars is roughly around what you will pay for the cheapest dinner AYCE. I really liked the ability to just eat and eat without being rushed too. Could be a long wait though so dont go too hungry!

By far one of the most cheapest all you can eat Shabu places that I have been to I definitely recommend coming here in trying it out during lunchtime since it is $13. They also have a higher end all you can eat option which is $17 but the $30 is still good I recommend coming in and putting your name on the waitlist because it can get a little busy during lunchtime especially since it’s in the city. I like how they have bar area so everyone gets their own pot. I also enjoy the free ice cream at the end of your visit at the Shabu restaurant
The only way to about about it is by getting the all you can eat special my personal opinion it is worth the paying the $30!! I bring my friends I tell my family I tell everyone about this place its so freaking amazingly good:) every person that I had brought to this restaurant all say the same thing its amazing and its so worth paying $30 for such a good price to eat all the different types of meats along with the unlimited appetizers!It has a great atmospheres a place to socialize while eating with the service being on point. The waiters are always on their game ready to serve you.If you go on the weekends around like six to close it can get pretty busy sometime the wait can be about 15 to maybe like 30 minutes long but no longer than 30 minutes. During the week there is no wait but sometimes can be a wait 10 minutes if that.If you were trying something new this is the place to come, or become a regular like me! I fell in love with shabu 3years ago, been coming here ever since then:)
By far the best shabu place Ive been. Its japanese. You can order some sushi and tempura as well. Their meat is good. Nice servers. By Japanese tradition, NO TIP NEEDED. Their staffs are well compensated as they claimed.
Hot night roll and shabu shabu roll are underrated. They have habanero extract that goes in your ponzi sauce that really helps flavor a lot of the bland meats. Its Halal so thats a big plus for me.

Amazing place. We called in close to their closing time and the owner promised to seat us. We got a seat and the waiter (super amazing funny guy) got us our food. For what your paying the food is just right. The atmosphere is superb and guess what.. We were going to tip them big for their service but they do not accept tip!! Amazing place would recommend for ayce shabu fans.
All you can eat is kinda pricy. Its 21$ per person but its so worth it. They have soup options and ayce sushi also. They serve alcohol and were very nice to us because we had a large party that wasnt fully there but they waited for us, luckily we all arrived in a timely manner. Service is a little slow tho. Its better if you eat at the bar with a smaller party.
If youre looking for all-you-can-eat shabu shabu, then this is your place. For $30, you get some delicious meats to choose from (brisket, kobe beef, etc.) as well as some sushi plates and small side dishes (e.g. wings). Everything on the menu is delicious, and our servers made sure to always quickly take our orders and got them to our table even faster. The only reason this is a 4-star is that our wait last Saturday night was around 2 hours! In the end, it didnt hurt the experience, but I would advise to be prepared for a long wait.
A halal Japanese place!!!!!! This place is a gold mine for muslims! The food is great. The atmosphere feels like youre in Japan. The cost is reasonable. Service is friendly and helpful. Overall experience is fantastic. Tip: You may want to have at least one person on your party who isnt afraid of chopsticks.

Place was filthy and it took them 1 hour and 45 mins to seat us. The bathroom was in horrible condition. The toilet was peed on and nobody cleaned it. The space is super tight and uncomfortable. The people there are not nice either. Also, the reason it took so long for us to be seated was because they had ONE person to roll for the whole place. It was 6pm, the place was packed, yet they lacked to prepare for it. Sure, one might think that its hard to call in people on a Saturday night, but they are used to this, so why are they acting as if theyve never came upon these types of situations? Very unprofessional. Oh, and to top the night off, they thought we stole. After giving our waiter our money, she came back and insisted we had only payed for 2 out of the 4 meals. They kept trying to charge us an extra $15, and didnt let us leave until after they played the tape back to prove we had in fact payed the full price. After this they didnt even apologize for the inconvenience, they let us go and pretended that nothing happened. Terrible, do NOT recommend.
I dont understand why this place received such high rates. Ive tried many hot pot places all over southern California, from regular shabu shabu to ayce, and seriously, this is by far the worst hot pot place Ive ever been to. First of, we waited for 1 hour 30 minutes to get in (they dont accept reservation), which was expected because its Fathers Day. After we were seated and read the menu, we decided to go with the $21 menu as we only wanted to eat beef. We ordered spicy red (supposed to be kimchee soup), spicy garlic, and another flavor which I forgot the name. Anyway, it doesnt matter because all of them tasted the same, very bland, very tasteless. Fyi, I dont eat salty, but I had to throw in some salt as it literally tasted like boiling water. Not only the soup tasted bad, but the table setting was also not good. They didnt have any bowl or spoon on the table. I dont mean to be so hard on an ayce place, but come on, how am I supposed to eat hotpot with only plates and chopstick? So yeah, I had to ask them for spoon and felt like a long time passing by, they came out telling me all the soup spoon were being washed now and they would be ready in 15 minutes. I was like seriously? You dont have any kinds of spoon now? Then the waitress said she only has regular spoon for now. Oh well that s fine, at least I have something to transfer my soup into my mouth. Then obviously all the bowls were also in the dishwasher. Great! No big deal, I asked for the dipping sauce bowl. We tried all the beef, spicy salmon and shrimp tempura rolls, nothing special. Green tea ice cream, mediocre, I couldnt finish it. This experience was supposed to worth one star, but i gave 1 extra star for one of the waiter for being very honest and respectful to all of us who were waiting for more than an hour. After we were waiting like 1hr, a customer came in and instead of writing his name in the waiting list, he approached a waiter and asked him to put his name on top, claiming that his friend stopped by earlier, but forgot to put down her name. He offered to give a waiter some tip in exchange, but the waiter refused to do so as it would be unfair to other people. Good job! Anyway, will I give this place another try? Probably not. I can spend the same amount of money at other better places.

All you can eat Shabu Shabu... um Yes Please!So you have one menu that is $21 which includes a variety of meats, some sushi rolls, and items such as chicken wings, etc. The other menu has more meet choices and a few selections of other items, and that menu will run you $30.The only down side is, everyone in your party must select the same menu. So if you have five (5) people in your party and only two want the $30, you are stuck with all five of you getting the $30 menu, or the two compromising with you, and all five of you get the $21 menu.Your drink is not included, but you get a small sample of ice cream at the end of your meal thats included. Oh... and last but not least.... like restaurants in Japan... you dont tip here...
First time here, and it was a unique experience for me. You cook your own meat in a broth they bring (similar to Korean BBQ). Meat was good quality and service was great. Ill be coming back!
Its one of favorite week day lunch spots! Great service and usually I can get a table right away. I go for the all you can eat, and am never dissapointed! Usually takes me about an hr and a half to eat here including the drive.
The wait time is awfully long, but the food and service is worth your wait! I came here once with a group of friends and I had to visit again after the first visit. The staff is super friendly and is on top of their game. Overall its a great enviornment with amazing food/service.

Get there early, wait time can be quite long during dinner hour. Great selection of meats and theres a wide variety of choices of side dishes. They dont accept tip which is pretty uncommon but a welcome sight!
The food was good. It was kind of like Korean bbq but just more in a soup manner. The only reason I would give them 3 stars is because they got some of the orders wrong. But, I can’t blame them. It was pretty busy. But, I have been to other Shabu Shabus and they did pretty fine under a busy night

This was a great place. The food was amazing, and the service was even better! They had a stone grill where you can grill your food which made the experience a lot more fun. They also taught us step by step how to use it. I would definitely recommend coming here.

Its okay.. the price for $18 LUNCH AYCE is worth it. Since its an AYCE shabu shabu compared for 1 tray of meat for twice the price that we tried before .The waiter is just not focus. No initiative. (Im so sorry) He always forgets our orders. Instead of 5 plate of veggies He have us 3.The meat is late.Instead of 1 spicy soup and 1 regular - the other waiter served us 2 regular soup.All 5 of us doesnt have Bowls nor soup spoon for our soup. (No initiative) so we still have to ask for it.However He was able to serve us with the3 Tempura vegetableCorrect meatsSushisWhite FishRamen noodlesRIce.They dont charge for any Tips. :) yes no TIPS.Its an okay restaurant.
Update!I have to agree with a lot of the reviews of House of Shabu Shabu regarding the service. In the past a skinny teenage girl and older lady would not give service and forget your order. That didnt bother me, because Asian restaurants never have service so get use to it! Its about the food. Now, your order can be written on a paper menu similar to AYCE Sushi restaurants. Great improvement! Also, I can order multi-meats at once before we were limited to one plate of meat per guest at a time.THE SERVICE BLEW ME AWAY!! It was American food quality service. I went on Tuesday night and there was maybe around 10 or 12 people eating dinner. Thats about 10 times more people than are usually there when I go. This time House of Shabu shabu got it right. The manager/ owner Im guessing... was very nice and came by and greeted every guest. Instead of 2 people. The restaurant now has 2 servers that were incredibly fast and 2 busier that also helped with orders and cleaning. Twice the staff and friendliness. The servers tried to talk to my party and came back and forth constantly. The only waiting was for the cutting of the meat or the sushi, but my water glass and sauces never reached empty.One sushi platter, 2 appetizers, 7 plates of meat, and soup later, I was in food coma heaven, but I didnt over do it this time. I stop at just the right time before you feel to stuffed to walk. The menu changed slightly so you can only get rolls on the cheapest special. It was nice of the cute server to take the time to explain this new menu. I think the Special #1 is now $17.95 (2 dollars less) and the highest is only $24.95 (about 5-10 dollars less). There are also garlic, onions, turnip, and some kind of mustard like sauce so you can mix and match as you please.Great place for a date just remember to come hungry. There is also a $29.99 AYCE option that includes all you can drink beer! I want to try this, but eating a lot and drink until you are full.. sounds like a bad combo. Highly recommended!

Youd be surprised at how long you have to wait to get a table, at lunchtime on a weekday. Never been here on a weekend but probably the lines are longer. Food is not extremely special but the buffet style is very inviting. So mainly Shabu Shabu, all meat and veggies, no seafood.
Very fun visit for my first experience at hot pot. Was not pleased with the staffs treatment of new customers. Definitely felt like an outsider as our party was passed over for seating and service in favor of others who came after us.
Ok first thing first price for All you can eat #1 is $21, and that’s what I ate. Overall great employees but the first reason why I marked off a star is because of the employee’s hands... weird I know but hear me out, one employee knocked over a bowl and I caught a glimpse of his DISGUSTING nails... they we are dirty and I didn’t think it was good that those were holding my food. Second reason was because MY GOODNESS the music is so inappropriate! Who picks the music!!! There is so much profanity and inappropriate language! Thats it! Enjoy your meal!
Despite the bar setup and very unpretentious environment, this shabu shabu AYCE is one of the best I have tried based on variety of meats and the quality!Stick to the shabu shabu and skip the hot foods or sushi/rolls (except for the Shabu sushi which is actually quite tasty).Our favorites were the short rib and the rib eye. The beef belly and pork belly were also very flavorful but tipped us over the edge of fullness, due to the amount of fat. I got the spicy sukiyaki and would definitely recommend this soup base. Add glass noodles to it too for the full experience! After this meal, we didnt need to eat dinner anymore. Another bonus is that there is no tipping/gratuity but the service is still awesome and friendly
I believe this shabu shabu restaurant has gone through several ownership changes over year. I wasnt really impressed with any of the time I visited and I always thought it was just another place for shabu. I recently visited this place, maybe twice over last month, I begin to like this change of ownership. With about $21, you get AYCE menu with varieties of meat to choose from. With $31, I believe, will get you even wider selection of meat with higher grade meat. I personally didnt care to pay extra $10 for the higher cut so I settled with angus beef. I tried both the spicy miso broth and the standard water with piece of seaweed broth. I always ask for 1 drop of spicy sauce on my peanut sauce. The service is relatively good here with friendly staff. The quality of the meat, angus beef, is okay, not great, but good enough for what I pay for. I tried their beef belly. I recommend again it since it has so much fat. I also like this House of Shabu Shabu because they got other mini dishes you can order as a part of that AYCE comboa. I typically order some sushi rolls, chicken wings, and vegetable tempura. With this new ownership, they have signs everywhere saying they do not accept tips. I felt little uncomfortable not paying tip so I asked the staff and they responded by saying they are better compensated. Overall my shabu shabu experience here were good and I highly recommend anyone around the area to try.
The first order of meat was good quality, but when you order second or third plates, they bring out very low quality meat. When I asked the server, he said its just a different cut of the meat. But its not the cut, its just old and bad quality.
Excellent for the price! It gets busy quick, even on weekdays so make sure to be ready for a wait or signup using the yelp app. The weekday lunch is $14 ayce for the cheaper one!

Rare halal Japanese food! We got the tsuyu broth with the halal beef and it was great. Beware though, some of the sauces and broth have alcohol and non-halal chicken stock so ask the waiters (they are very helpful!)
Oh Wow. I have had shabu shabu elsewhere and near where I live which is the west san fernando valley area. The prices are incredibly gasping high where i live and its definitely not worth eating shabu shabu where I reside at. House of Shabu Shabu has thus changed my views on the concept of using a hotpot to cook your meat. I love this place. We come here for dinner, mostly and the price is as good as it gets. $21.95 for AYCE (all you can eat). Lots of choices.. American Kobe beef, lamb, pork rib, unpeeled shrimp, spicy salmon sushi, salmon sushi, gyoza, shrimp tempura, the list is just incredible. The one thing that might make me want to lower my rating iis that there is no a/c. I sweated like a pig. I had to ask for extra napkins. But thats where customer service comes in. Customer service is 5 star. They have name cards on their shirts for a reason. Its better to call their names and ask for whatever food items, inquiries you might have. Most of the staff are chinese, but the owners are Korean. The seating is very adequate. There are seats the sit around a big bar-type feeling and seats that are set in a more private setting. I prefer the bar-type area because the waiters are at ur disposal more easily. It would be the same reason if I went to a sushi restaurant and they offered bar or table. A no-brainer would to sit at the bar because the sushi chef makes your food much faster if you were at the bar. Id definitely recommend this place to friends and google city experts.
Usually when I go, its great. But this time was a different experience. The server seemed like he was exhausted and just didnt want to be there. Which is fine but you gotta put on a happy face and pretend for your job. He made it seem like a chore after everything you ask him.
Came here tonight. I never had shabu shabu before but all of the waitservice was super helpful and gave excellent recommendations on how to enjoy it best. The AYCE special #1 was a perfect way to dip our toes into it and it was more than well worth the price. I had so much fun and big kudos to all the staff (especially T.J.) who explained the whole thing and didnt make us feel like total noobs. :) I cant wait to come back and try special #2 with other people!

Ayce shabu shabu. Has lots of choice for meat. Serving size is small for the side dishes so remember to order more. Serving size for meat is pretty good but its ayce so no need to concern. Meat quality is good. Weekend usually has long wait and need all party to arrive before seating.
Hands down the best place I have ever eaten at in Irvine. Service is always great and the food is always great. If you come during busy hours expect a wait, but honestly the wait is always worth it.

Garbage service, garbage staff and definitely garbage equipment. Worst experience with a restaurant to date. Will never attend this restaurant again. My favorite shabu shabu! Try the shabu sushi, you will be hooked for life. The only reason for taking a star off is the service. That can be hit or miss at times. But generally most who work there are extremely nice and hard working. Harry, the owner, is always super friendly. As is his wife, daughter and son in law. =)
Come in at 10:55pm with no more all you can eat didn’t notice on google map and yelp and not even notice on their menu when is the all you can eat finish, they close at 12:00am midnight drive from Anaheim,and never going to come back again, going to delete 5 star review in yelp too . Not coming back

This is the only Shabu restaurant you will ever need. These guys always pile on the meats so you never need to worry about any unwanted breaks in your pursuit to burst your belly! Only down side is no 🍺, but you can always pregame anyways so who cares!?

That being when we were looking for Shabu Shabu, we wanted to find a spot that served halal meat options.#1 The servers were second to none. The person that stood out the most was Emerald. Always had a great attitude, work ethic, and patient with my very newb of a friend. She was on it. Give her a raise now before its too late!#2 The food was great. We went with the AYCE Special #2 since thats where most of the halal meats were. The price is not unreasonable. Special #1 is more for those that are on a budget. Most restaraunts are similarly priced.#3 complimentary ice cream! You cant say no to that. For me, thats the best part of the meal. Soaking in all that meaty flavor and then washing the excessiveness with some ice cream.Highly recommend this place, these are my item recommendations:Spicy Miso base (Beef stock)Ponzu & spicy Goma sauce (Contains Mirin)Halal Ribeye, Halal Lamb, Halal chicken,Kobe beef, salmon sushi, squash and mushrooms. Finished off with the ice cream of the day.

The rice was old and sticky. But the meat and fresh noodles were great. Get the Kobe beefMENU OPTIONS. As compared to other shabu places, loved the amount of options on the menu. You could do al a carte or all you can eat shabu. We preferred Al a carte and loved all the available options.SUGGESTIONS. Clean your establishment, update the interior, train your staff better and get better quality food

You dont even have to ask, they proudly put on their menu halal chicken halal ribeye halal lamb And tell them beforehand you are ordering halal and they will tell you which broths are veg and which sauces are alcohol-free. We ordered the lamb and ribeye. I preferred the ribeye, it felt lighter to eat.The staff is so kind and informative. Its a smallish spot so there may be a wait if your party is big. We went on a Saturday afternoon and were seated right away at the lower bar level. Kid friendly, my kids had no problem serving themselves from their own hotpot. We will be back!

Staff brought extra of anything we asked for though.Very popular on a weekend evening, long wait (45-60 minutes). AYCE options, weird no tipping rule - the staff was super busy.

You pick a broth, then you pick your meats and side dishes (sushi, ramen, veggies, more meat). Best thing about it was the habanero extract (hot spice drops) that they put on the sauces. Complimentary vanilla or strawberry cheesecake ice cream at the end. Will definitely come back again!

2023-07-16 21:54:05A tasteless bowl of warm water in which you have to cook your food yourself. About all the restaurant does is slice up the meat. Gruff, rude service, interminable wait times even after being seated, and elbow to elbow with strangers sneezing on your food. No thanks. Dining out should not include you cooking.

2019-03-29 03:05:15Food was great and for the $21 for AYCE it’s so worth it! There wasn’t a wait when I got here initially but it gets so busy that I’ve waited up to 2 hours before since it’s such a small restaurant. The service was slow because there weren’t a lot of employees working and our section of the restaurant was fully seated. You can’t exchange your broth if you don’t like it ($4 if you really wanna exchange the pot) but they can always top it off with a different broth if you don’t mind that option. You can order as much as you’d like so come hungry!

2018-12-12 07:54:50This place is probably one of my favorite AYCE shabu places! The restaurant itself was pretty small but the food definitely made up for it. I recommend the more expensive menu just so that you can get Kobe beef. I had at least six plates of that alone haha. And sorry, I dont have any pictures of that fine marbling but I did take a few pictures of my favorite sides! Make sure you get some spicy salmon rolls and shrimp tempura. Im definitely coming back for more soon!
