Came here with a friend and wow the food here is amazing and cheap!Good:- Super nice staff and really reasonable prices for good portion sizes- The food came out super quickly- The Mongolian beef was the best Ive had in the city! So much flavor, and it was really chewy but pliable- Nice place to catch up with friends, quiet interior- The chow fun was really tasty and addictive, good texture and temperatureBad:- The place is small there are only really 3 tables in the spaceOverall I liked how this was a new find and would come back.

Great Chinese food! The ingredients tasted really fresh and pretty good portions for the price (SF prices nevertheless). This restaurant opened about 6 months ago and its family run. Sarah, one of the people that started the restaurant immigrated back in 2017 to the city. She’s really nice and will tell you about their experience immigration and starting a restaurant business too if you ask. Their family runs the place! They cook good food and treat customers well.I’d go back again :)I had the General Teo’s prawns and garlic string beans which were really nice! They have a great selection of Chinese appetizers as well. They have a good vegetarian / vegan selection too, good amount of tofu dishes.

Hulu Wa is located in an unassuming location behind a gas station, but it’s worth leaving the main road to try their food. I had the sesame beef lunch special that included a hot and sour soup. Both items were flavorful and the beef had a perfect crisp. So good! The waiter was also very nice, attentive with checking in at a decent pace and refilling my water. I’d like to go back sometime to try their other items 😊

Delicious gem in the Castro! (Coming from a picky eater )This place is a fantastic find! As a Chinese person myself, I can be pretty critical of Americanized Chinese food, but Hulu Wa impressed me.Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly cooked. The sesame chicken wasnt greasy at all, and the meat was super tender. The XLB (soup dumplings) were spot-on, and the garlic broccoli had just the right amount of flavor. The bok choy pork buns were a fun twist on a classic, and the combo chow mein was a great mix of textures and tastes. For the price, the portion sizes were great, and the whole restaurant felt clean and inviting. Its definitely a hidden gem – more people need to know about this place!Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious, affordable Chinese food!

I was hungry and walked by all of my local places. My husband pointed out the new place and after canvassing the area, we agreed to eat there. This is the freshest Chinese food I have had in along time. The food was delicious and felt fresh, not frozen. All I have to say is after I ate here, I ordered Chinese 3 days in a row.

This place is a hidden gem! New spot in town but OMG best siu Mai dumplings Ive had yet in SF. Theyre very fresh so it takes 15mins but it was worth every second because the food tastes like it was made with love! A bit hidden on 17th but worth checking out!!

Have visited this spot a few times recently and each meal has hit the mark. Still making our way through the menu, but l have to agree with other reviewers and suggest the sesame beef - so good! This is an easy to miss location, tucked right behind the train stop - but I wish them luck - a real nice addition to the neighborhood.

This is a great place for lunch! The food is delicious, fast, and relatively affordable. Think homestyle Chinese classics like beef & broccoli, sesame chicken, or kung pow chicken, with an authentic taste.Im really hoping this place sticks around, its a new business that deserves a try.

Potsticker appetizer was delicious, we then shared the General Tsos chicken, sesame beef, salt and pepper prawns and steamed rice. Chicken was particularly good, every piece was a juicy piece of white meat, nicely seasoned and not over-battered.Tip: Order one less entree than the number of people in your party and you wont waste food, unless you want delicious leftovers.

This place is easy to miss in the hustle and bustle, but it is so worth a stop.I brought my family and we got the dry sauteed string beans, crispy spring rolls, general tso’s chicken, xlb soup dumplings, and kung pao beef. Everything was tasty, but the general tso’s was probably the best I’ve ever had. We did order too much food (but it was amazing leftovers). I will keep coming back.As a bonus: they have tables on the 2nd floor that overlook the vintage streetcars on F Market. Perfect spot.
