You like spicy food? What about ma la (numbing spicy)? This is one of my go-to restaurants for Sichuan cuisine. Ive tried about half of the dishes here, and most were delicious and pretty authentic. I especially recommend the Mapo tofu (麻婆豆腐) and fired-fried kidney flower (火爆腰花).Service was just as you would at a Chinese restaurant. Consider bringing a Mandarin-speaking friend to get better service (or at least someone who will holler at the waiter)
Quite real Hu-Nan cuisine, I tried two dishes, one is good, the other one slightly off from it supposed to be. The restaurant is decorated nicely, but the booth chair was not really comfortable, Im 56, still felt the table is slightly high, dont know how those petite persons could sit 🤡🤡Overall, its a fine Chinese restaurant, I would give 3.5 stars.

The owners are very friendly. The chicken fried rice is great! Everything is really good and its in an excellent location next to a karaoke bar which is owned by the same people. Ive gone back and brought friends. Everyone loves Hunan Cuisine.

Avoid at all costs…all food came at room temperature. Chive pockets came ICY COLD inside, only the surface was warm. Food isn’t Hunan flavors at all. Main dishes are slathered in a generic sweet sticky sauce. Pickled daikon and bacon dish wasn’t seasoned properly - flavorless. At $35 per pax we expected our food to at least come hot. Sigh, bitterly disappointed.

The place is very cool looking. Neon light boards hanging all over.Food tastes ok but is WAY TOO GREASY! They should cut the oil by half at least.Service is slow especially during peak meal time on the weekend. Youll expect to stay here for at least 1 hour.

This was the second time I have dined here and let me say they have some tasty food. It is a little more expensive than other establishments but I think the flavor really makes up for it. We ordered the sizzling beef, beef wrap, soy sauce fried rice and tofu with peppers. I found them all well seasoned, fresh and plenty spicy. My personal favorite is the sizzling beef, it was hot enough to make my eyes water a bit.... Perfect for me! Stop by and give it a try, Ill be back for sure.

The decor here is pretty amazing. The tea and plate sets are very pretty and unique. Great for dating or group gathering. Plenty of seating, comfortable seats, very clean environment.Excellent services. Servers were patience to explain the plates and make recommendation.As for the food, the potion is huge. The food in general were good, but not the best in town. Prices were a bit high but reasonable in the area.My recommendation were beef kebab, spicy fish, spicy pork belly with cucumber, Maos braised pork and steam pork rib sticky rice. Beef are tender and taste. We went for mild or non-spicy that night because of all the kds, but I believe the food will taste better when they are medium or hot spicy.Definitely worth a try if you like spicy Hunan food.
Tried this place yesterday and absolutely love it. Good service and nice ambience (that are rare in Chinese restaurant). Food was great. 水煮鱼 is the best you can have in Bay Area. Ate too fast to get a shot for it.
* Must-try dishes:- Green Pepper Whole Fish Soup: The name of this dish is not so attractive but a 5-star recommendation. Suitable for a party with more than 3 people.- Chairman Maos Braised Pork Belly: Really, really addictive. I am personally not a big fan of fat, but this dish is an exception.- Lamb BBQ: Originally I thought this is only an authentic Hunan restaurant, so I never tried BBQ here (because Hunan is not famous for BBQ in China). However, I was proven wrong. The BBQ here is astonishingly good.* Cost: $20~30/person* 5-star reason: This is my favorite place for Hunan food in the bay area. 80% of the dishes are awesome and special. And dont forget about the lamb BBQ as I have mentioned above. ;)

They won’t let us sit at their big tables even though there were plenty available, and the option they gave us was a tiny one next to their restroom which looks like a temporary one in those street food shop. I’d understand if it’s crowded, but that was not the case. Poorest service. The waitress simply ignored me when I told her we were ready to order and the next time I did she just said “wait” without even looking at me. Then she can’t even serve the dishes to the right table... We didn’t order soup and she wanted to take away the only bowl we have just because of this??? There are plenty of authentic hunan restaurants in easy bay. Won’t come back.
The food is really good. The pork belly is their signature dish. And the fish hot pots are very good also. The staff can help you with some suggestions.Dont go crazy on spicy level, it is actually spicy. :)
We ordered a couple of different items. Veggie Chow Mein, Salt & Pepper chicken along with Prawn Fried Rice. The food was prepared well and the environment is great. Im very happy and will definitely be going again.
This is a new restaurant, but I can tell its one of the few best Sichuan/Hunan restaurants in the Bay Area, period. We tried the classic dishes that we always order in similar restaurants, Mapo Tofu, Hot Spicy Chicken, etc, all of which are well prepared and cooked. This place really exceeded my expectations! The favors in there are rich, fresh, and mildly spicy. I am not a fan of spicy stuff, but I would love to be there again next time I drop by Fremont.

If you love Asian cuisine you must try this place its the real thing. I have never been to China, but when you visit this restaurant and the waitstaff offers you the American menu because they dont think you will enjoy the real deal you will see the difference if you ask for both.... At this point give back the American menu and let your taste buds travel to the Orient.

Easily the most authentic Hunan cuisine place I’ve been to in the Bay Area. I lived in China for 9 yrs, my wife is Chinese, this is the real deal. If you like simple fragrant spicy dishes try the 农家小炒肉, you will not regret it
This is a new restaurant with pretty refreshing decoration. Great service. Pretty good selection of hunan dishes. Weve been there multiple times. The food is sometimes a bit salty to us but they can accommodate request to use less salt.
The food tastes great. However, this is the first time I see a restaurant with a notice saying: If customer stays and eats more than 2 hours, there will be a 15% service fee added. What a great way to treat its value customer.
Very poor service.Our waiter interjected our meal and asked if we would like to have an extra dish. Except it was not for free, and apparently that dish had been misserved to another table, because it was not even whole!To my utmost disgust, they included the tips in the bill, while still giving you blanks to tip. Authentic spicy Hunan dishes without MSG or attitude. Bring your appetite, even the menus are mouth watering with full color photos of nearly every item. Better selection of veggie dishes than most Chinese restaurants. Emphasis is on quality of ingredients and cleanliness. They also do not put additives like tenderizer into the meats. Predominantly Chinese customers here traveling from all over the Bay Area to dine in the many plush booths and three round tables with huge lazy susans that seat 12 each. Connected by interior door an authentic Asian-style KTV business located in next suite.
There is something that I must tell you. They over charge you secretly!! I was invited for my friends birthday celebration over there. We had dinner and karaoke afterward. The garbage cans lid was stuck and couldnt open. The waiter said that we could leave trash on the table or floor, but we still prepared a bag for the trash. At the end the birthday was passed out, her friend paid bill blindly. Next day she checked the bill and thought was not correct, went back to the restaurant checking with the owner. The owner said because they charged extra $100 for cleaning and 20% service fee plus 20% tips............ Whats this? Actually there is no service in the karaoke room. There is no basic trust to this restaurant.
First time visitor. English is not their first language. Ordered takeout. Beef Chow Mein. I wanted Mongolian beef noodle but they didnt have that. Only had Mongolian beef and a side of rice. Rice is $2 a pop and only a single serving. Im a big eater so this was already absurd consider the beef itself was probably about $16. So here I am ordering a beef Chow mein because it was only 9.95 or so. It is pretty tasty but my Lord.. was it greasy or was it greasy? It was pretty delicious aside from that fact. Probably wouldnt come here again.I also wanted to add. They laced the bottom of my takeout box with a sheet of aluminum foil. A nice gesture to keep things warm but.. have they not heard of aluminum poisoning?

Like their Hunan style dishes. However, the Sichuan dishes are just so so. Tried the Chili-Fried Chicken, all chicken wings pieces, one of the wing pieces smelled not fresh. They use tenderizer for their beef, which might be a common issue for most Chinese restaurants. The tenderizer makes the beef tasted like it has been digested by other people before. A lot of MSG too.

This restaurant is WOW! Over the top glitzy decor and a menu that rivals any food photo book. This menu is big showing just over 1 item per page on an enormous page of full size pictures. Food was OK, but pricey.
This is one of the best Hunan restaurants in the Bay area. Food is delicious. Clean, nice ambience, attentive service. The weekday lunch menu is a good deal.
Dishes taste great, with only a bit too salty. So make sure to ask for lite salt if you can’t take heavy!

I am currently still sitting here waiting for food. Our hotpot was cold by the time they got us our rice. We still have a vegetable dish coming even though we ordered 50 minutes ago. The service is so horrendous that cant get past it. I will never come back.

This is a change of chef. The taste is quite good. Hunan flavor👍Small flavor lever. The fried pork tastes great. It goes perfectly with rice. It is the closest to Hunan fried pork that I have eaten in the Bay Area so far. The taste is good, but the pork liver is a bit old, too thin, and too dry. Marinate it with cooking wine and starch for a few minutes. Stir-fried dried chili is in place, because it is a takeaway, the appearance is not too strong, but the taste is enough👍
This is the best restaurant I have ever eaten in the Bay Area. The service is very considerate. It has three teams of chefs for pasta, barbecue and stir-fry. Every dish is carefully made and super delicious, satisfying my needs for these three types of food. So my family and my staff often come here to eat after get off work every day! We have been loyal diners of Sijie for the past ten years. Recommend friends to try it too, they will definitely fall in love with this restaurant!

The quality got worse and worse, we have been eating here for past 4 years, but we definitely wont go there anymore. Dont know where they got the confidence to provide this quality food at this price. Eggplant, chili and preserved eggs are basically eaten. I have never seen chili that is so spicy that I can’t eat it. The picture shows half of the dish. The few preserved eggs are cut into small cubes. The eggplant is only two or three pieces.
The red oil Chaoshou tastes good, although it is not authentic, it is purely spicy;The spiciness of the Dapanji is the same as that of Chaoshou in red oil, which is probably the restaurants own taste.

I ordered three dishes and all three were wrong. I ordered the chicken with saliva. The sauce was sweet and garlicky. I don’t know if it was made into minced garlic white meat. I ordered Dandan Noodles and was served a bowl of soup noodles. How could the Dandan Noodles have a bowl full of soup? Finally, I ordered shredded wild peppercorn beef. Will I burn it to death if I strangle it? It doesnt have the spicy and refreshing feeling of wild sansho pepper at all, it just feels like torture. As a Sichuan child, I have eaten a lot of spicy food since I was a child, but it is rare to feel angry after eating it. I don’t know much about Hunan cuisine, but I definitely don’t put a lot of Mexican peppers in Sichuan cuisine to deliberately make the food spicy, and there is no sense of enjoyment at all.
From the original Fourth Sister Sichuan and Hunan to the current Tongue Hunan, the taste level of the dishes has plummeted, the quantity has been reduced by nearly 30%, and the price has increased a lot. The original order of Maoxuewang with spicy chicken and 2 white rice only cost more than 30, today I ordered a fish fillet of Mao Xue Wang and Teng Chili (the fillet was not fresh, almost bad, and was overwhelmed by the spicy taste). It was only $51, and there was no white rice. If it tastes good, it’s okay, but if it doesn’t taste good, it doesn’t. Fresh, will never go there again.

2023-06-16 17:37:04We drove by this place one night and saw all the neon signs but werent sure what it was. Finally searched and it is a restaurant. We tried last week, and the food is great. All the skewers are great, and I think the pricing is reasonable. We ordered beef, lamb, chicken cartridges, grilled squid, clams, dumplings, and vegetables. No complain at all, good portion and all tasty. For the skewers, I am okay but not a big fan of Cumin, so it worked perfectly for my taste bud it might be a bit light for people who like the overwhelming taste of Cumin.

The problem is there was NO SERVICE. They never even placed our plates, we had to separate the stack of plates ourselves. They also only Gave us a pitcher of water with stacked cheap plastic cups and we had to pour water ourselves.I’m never coming back here again.

2023-04-30 04:17:45Recently check out this restaurant and found out it’s pretty good. Really love it’s beef, egg yolk chicken and all the skewers. Will definitely visit it again!

2023-02-06 03:32:11This is a pretty good bbq places in east bay. Love “who’s egg it is” the one in video. So fancy and it is actually sweet corn cake. Nice experience. Will definitely come back again
