This spot is not bad. It’s not really the cleanest looking inside but i think its because of the lighting. They dont really have many options of snacks inside compared to other sandwich shops. Customer service is whatever, I usually get my sandwiches to go whenever i do get any. I went today and waited about 10 min before i was even helped. I’ve had better sandwiches but these weren’t bad. Id go again if i was in the immediate area.

The sandwhiches here are so cheap, that alone brought me in. Ive tried the #1, #7 and #19... all solid choices although the #19 wasnt very spicy. I typically order the #1 at any Bahn Mi spot(Combo) and this one didnt disappoint. The sandwhiches here arent small either so thats a plus in my books. Nice find while staying in Newark for a bit.
The prepared gelatinous rice cakes are pretty good in the morning.Occasionally though, youll get a gelatinous rice cake that has a brick-hard center. Feel the center before you purchase any.I dont come here for the pho, only the sandwiches. The Korean beef is one to be wary of, a lot of fat on the meat, but tastes fine.
Our first time there. The place was fairly clean, the soups were good, and the service fair. The serene environment was ruined by the constant banter of the staff at a near shouting level which made our dine-in experience unenjoyable. Next time, if any, will be take-out.
I usually go to Huong Lan IV in Milpitas to get sandwiches since it is close to work. The one in Newark that I visited today is Huong Lan V. I had #1 Pho and #1 sandwich here. Large #1 Pho is $10.95, and the taste is 4 out of 5 stars. #1 sandwich is $4.78 and the taste is 4 out of 5. No service to talk about. They are friendly. They’ll take your order and bring the food to your table. And that’s it.
I had chicken soup with egg noodle #89. I never thought anyone could mess up Pho. Most likely the egg noodle was frozen. I’ll come back and try again.
One of the few places in the area that sells Vietnamese sandwiches. Looks like they recently changed how they make the sandwiches and it was a change for the worse. Not nearly as tasty and the bread is now softer and doesnt carry the regular crunch. Hoping they revert back to the old ways.
Wow, what a nice little restaurant, sandwich shop ! I had the number 7 grilled pork sandwich . It came with a nice broth soup . Absolutely delicious, tasty and satisfying ! Service was polite and accommodating ! I will definitely patronize this establishment again, without hesitation ! Thank you for a wonderful lunch meal break !

Fantastic banh mi, free tea and lots of seating. They also have two flat screen TVs playing sports! I dont recall the price of the sandwiches, but I remember it being OMG cheap (less than $3). Their baguettes are authentic and the fillings are fresh.Located in the Lion Supermarket shopping center, they are just to the right of them. You can also buy other items like dried coconut candies, banana-leaf covered rice triangle things, and other snacky items.Service-wise, eh, its just a sandwich shop. They also have pho and other offerings which I didnt try. OH! And they have some of those awesome dessert drinks ($1.50?). The ones with the squiggly fishing lures-looking things with coconut milk. I love those.
Ive been a long time returner to Huong Lan Sandwiches and the Noodle House that is in the shared space. In fact, I remember when it first opened. Honestly, nowadays, I return because of the bahn mi. The customer service is hit or miss, depending on who you interact with. But, no matter what, I am a fan of Bahn Mi and will continue to return when I crave Vietnamese sandwiches.Usual food order:Korean KBBQ Beef Bahn mi and Korean Spicy Beef Sandwich - Both are delicious and to be frank, I really enjoy most bahn mis and I like how they have these marinated options for the meat.I usually do take out: order, head to the bakery/deli/Lion supermarket, come back to pick up my order. I go to other places since it does take a while for the sandwiches to be put together, and additional time for the baguettes to be baked.
Lovely ladies who work here. If youre in the mood for legit Viet food, I highly recommend this place. It beats other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. From banh mi, rice noodle dishes, to hearty bowls of pho, you cant go wrong here! They recently lifted the cash only rule and now accept credit cards. Lots of options for to go items too!
The food was fine, but the only reason it has 2 starts is because they also charge 2 dollars for the plates. With the food we got and the plates in total was $58.52 We were very disappointed, the food wasnt very good either.

At $3.75 for a banh mi you really can’t beat this place in taste and value. While you’re there I would recommend picking up a pack of Pandan or coffee jelly, and a $2 milk tea!
Ive been eating egg banh mi in Vietnam for years, I love them. The egg banh mi here wasnt even close. They used pre-cooked, cold eggs, and the bread was hard. The banh mi are also huge, too big even.
Its nice that this place open early for early birds. Sometime the ingredients for banh mi are not fresh. But the coffee is strong and delicious

Dont go here. Because of their sandwich I got sick today! Went here for my lunch. Got their chicken sandwich and the chicken was completely raw! Totally uncooked! The sandwich makers here dont care what they make for the customers.

2021-04-20 03:09:05I love coming here for sandwiches to grab for picnics. I call ahead to order on the phone and then just come in for a quick pick up. Orders are usually finished within 10 minutes by the time I drive there, theyre done and ready!The plaza is pretty busy, but its convenient since theres a grocery market and a bunch of restaurants and boba shops if you want to pick anything else up.Theres not much in terms of service, but the prices are really inexpensive so you shouldnt expect to be treated like a 5-star hotel, haha.PS. if you like spicy, you can ask for extra peppers, they jalapenos have a good kick to them.

The friendliest thing in the store was the cashier register, receipt said, thank you and come again. She used the same gloves that touched money and the food. Definitely not impress with this establishment. Heath department should come by for random inspection.

Ive visited and called the restaurant from 6 to 6:45 on 4 occasions, to be told they are preparing to close. The listed close time is 7pm. (I would understand if I was eating in, but I only order take out, and state that very clearly.

2021-05-20 03:42:54So the reason why Im giving them 3 out of 5 stars is because this place is a toss up. Sometimes I eat here the Sandwiches are great but sometimes like today it just tastes old. The bread was stale and the BBQ pork had an odd taste. I dont know whats the deal? Ive been eating here for almost 5 years now everytime I go to Lions game to grab a quick bite. Also I dont know if its me but did the price go up?Anyways I hope this place changes its policy and if the bread is stale to just trash it bc serving it to your customers is totally wrong and will lose you business.

2019-09-06 03:14:48Not sure why this place doesnt have a higher rating. Even at $3.50 per sandwich, its still a bargain for what you get. You have to give it to them for the consistency in the quality. Its been solid for the multiple times Ive frequented. You add quick (and sometimes friendly) service on top, it makes a fan out of me.If you are puzzled like myself, the quality and price is about the same as the sister store in San Jose by the same name (4.5 stars /w 600+ reviews). Maybe people in Newark are pickier? Fancy that.
