Very relaxing and chic atmosphere. The food was delicious!!! We have been sleeping on this cute and quaint spot but we wont anymore. They are a favorite and we will be back often. The lobster ramen was soooooo good. My lobster was smoked and the ramen was fresh. My husband had the black cod and the kobe beef and he enjoyed it very much. The mochi dessert was also very good. Customer service was also very pleasant. Thank you. :)

This is a Good vibe place. The food was so good and you get a lot of it. The staff is so friendly amd helpful. The waitress explain what each item had in it, if I didnt know. I didnt have to wait long and she just on me to make sure I was good. I will definitely visit this place again

Amazing sushi rolls and specialty dishes. Stan gave great recommendations and treated you like you are the only one in the restaurant. Be sure to sit at the bar. All the flavors were amazing.Favorite sushi dishes were the 007 and A-1 Tuck. The Josh was a superb signature dish.

The server was terrible. Every table had wasabi except us, not sure maybe because we where not the right color skin or we didn’t order enough. When we where ordering the waiter was talking to my wife condescending “you don’t want calamari you don’t want this…..” as if she thinks we can’t afford it….Back to the wasabi my wife was trying to get our waiter’s attention to get wasabi and she kept pretending not to see my wife, after my wife started raising her hand, the bartender saw my wife but she ignored my wife also, she should have at least got our waiter’s attention for us, but no she seemed to be upset at us, or look at us as if we are lower class. So my wife got up and walked to the sushi chef way in the back passing the waiters that ignored us. Funny I saw her blatantly ignored my wife, she could have at least ask my wife does she need anything.She was overly excessive attentive to 2 tables as if she wanted to show us these tables are ordering more, and we aren’t worthy of the same attention. This is my first ever review of a place because of the discrimination we felt. She (waiter) never smiled till she served us the check, trying then to start a conversation, I guess she probably wanted to get a tip from us.We dine a lot in fact we just came back from Hawaii and I was leaving big tips in all the restaurants we ate at in Oahu.Because I usually tip a lot it was hard for me to leave a $1.00 tip. But I felt I had to to make a statement, of how badly we where served and how badly we were treated, causing us to feel discriminated.Not gonna recommend this place, unless you want to support a restaurant that categorized their customers on which social class they belong to. Then treat their customers with discrimination based on their looks or skin color and order list.

UPDATED Aug 2020Still in love with I Privè food and atmosphere.My favorite rolls are still 007, Kevin G and Scorpion but I recently discovered Sempre Fi roll which is amazing as well. Try “spoons” with uni and quial eggs, or uni nigiri or if you’re lucky they can have the freshiest Toro Fish on special (See picture).Coctails — my favorite is still Lychee Martini, but also Jè Taime is absolutely great!—————-This place is amazing. Go there Friday night, sit at the bar and let the owner (names Stan) who is rock and rolling on Fridays offer you a Lychee Martini (total hit) along with his special menu (trust he knows better what you want).

Top notch food, despite the tvs on behind the sushi bar! Exquisitely prepared house special cucumber with sashimi (pictured) was subtly flavored and delicious. I started with veg gyoza which had delicate and perfectly fried green wrappers around a flavorsome filling. I also ordered a blue fin tuna roll, and finished off with the single serve size ice cream with tempura mango, avocado and salmon skin. Delicious.

We were concerned because this restaurant didn’t seem as busy as some others up the street, but WOW. We ordered four different dishes, including two specialty rolls, and we were blown away. Not only did the food melt in our mouths, but the chef came out to introduce and explain his creations to us while we decided what to order. This place should have been packed!!

The host and waiter was a very nice Asian man, who talked us through the menu, and treated us very well.The vegi gyoza was not satisfying - the flavor was dominated by the pastry, and tasted a bit like well used oil, rather than fresh vegetables.The stimulus roll was nicely done and the use of coconut wasnt overpowering. It looked like a reasonable specialty roll.While we wanted a second specialty roll, the wiki wiki was eliminated from contention due to the white chocolate sauce, and the Rebecca due to the pumpkin. We ended up with the vegi roll, which was a basic roll in presentation, taste, and uniqueness - very similar to standard rolls elsewhere. Some enoki would be a nice upgrade to this roll versus the burdock that felt a bit like filler.We enjoyed having some reasonable vegetarian sushi options, good service, and a nice environment in which to experience it all.For a Tuesday night, the restaurant was unexpectedly packed, is definitely recommend reservations.

First time trying out this location since Ive had such s huge craving for delicious sushi. I admit, I want expecting much since its on Burlingame Avenue. For some reason, a good amount of food spots on that street tend to disappoint me so I try to find hole in the wall places with good reviews. So glad I decided to take some chance.The staff were quite friendly and patient. They followed CDC guidelines very well which is well appreciated. I was impressed with the imported selection of Japanese whiskies and will definitely try their flights on my next visit. The food was quite delicious. Ordered the surf and turf roll, the firefighter and the 007. All good choices along with their omakase which I may skip since the rolls tasted amazing! Dessert was pretty basic with the options of green tea ice cream and mochi which I will probably go some place else for dessert on the Avenue.Overall, 10/10. Kudos to management and the staff for creating a safe environment for indoor dining. Cant wait to visit again soon

A great place for coming as a small group or for a date. The owner/bartender is very personable and I loved that he walked us through the speical and menu and what dish would suit our tastes. Service was quick and ambiance was unique. Its almost like a japanese eat while talking with the chef but has pop music playing with subtle strobe lights. The food itself was exquisite and very true to its japanese roots. Will definitely visit here again!

It is OPEN! The web site is confusing and on a Tuesday night I believed only take out was available so I did a drive by and was happy to see I could get a seat inside. The menu is full of options for both drinks and food. The signature rolls and sashimi are unique and very tasty. Overall, sushi is not cheap and this place is a bit on the higher side of that. Drinks too, but then again, it is Burlingame. The excellent attentive service does help to curtail the price. I will be back for more.

Huge drink list, and a very comprehensive menu. I have not tried any of the traditional dishes, but the sushi is excellent. The 007 is always a good choice if you are indecisive. The Hugito Explosion has a nice citrus flavor to it as well.

Ive been here twice. The first time was week of grand opening and I left very disappointed, but I thought theyll figure things out and eventually become a decent sushi bar. Fast forward a few months later, the fiancée and I visited I Privé over the weekend and were pleased with the progress. The food had improved, customer service was much better, but there is still room for improvement. Especially with their high prices (not too bad for Burlingame) the expectations are higher and they dont 100% deliver whats expected of an upscale sushi bar.As for sushi recommendations, Id say 007 was pretty much the best out of 5 rolls I tried here.

Definitely up there in terms of best sushi and best sushi experience & ambiance on the Peninsula. I can easily say that this may be Sushi Sams competitor. We enjoyed several yummy rolls while sitting at the bar and while watching a game. We listened to the recommendations given to us by the staff on which rolls to order. Highly recommend the 007 roll if you are a spicy tuna fan. Happy to have a great sushi place nearby.

If I could give them a 0 I would. When we walked through the door, no one would seat us. When someone finally came to help us, she had a foul attitude. When we asked about the menu, she was clueless. When we finally got out food, she lazily put it at a seat where NO ONE WAS SITTING.Food is overpriced and not worth the quality. The sushi rice had no vinegar taste. The best sushi and saki experiences of my life. I didnt go there planning on writing of our experience, so didnt keep track of all the sushies and the Sakis we had. The specific items I remember were. 3 types of sashimi Toro hamachi, salmon and blue fin. Eaten in a specific order with a sip of saki to be held on the tongue for 3 seconds. Wow! Stanley the owner was helpful and very informative on our various dishes and the proper way to maximize their enjoyment. We were there on a Sunday evening so the place wasnt busy and Im sure afforded Stanley more opportunity to guide us. Not that we were new to sushi far from it. What we got from Stanley was not only the order to eat a dish but the flavors to look for, the mouth feel to experience, when to eat something in one bite or not, when to dip into the soy sauce etc. The bluefin tuna collar was exceptional. We had at least 8 dishes all were outstanding. Then the topper was the Japanese whiskeys we sampled. I originally said at the start of this review one of the best sushi and saki experiences and changed it to THE BEST.

I never thought that I am a big eater, but after spending $79 for their 5 course dinner (tax & tip not included), I had to eat a Ramon noodle within an hour at home. Every dish I ordered is like either 3 thin slices of raw fish or 2-3 tiny items on a disproportional large plate, even though the taste is good. Above all that, I totally dislike the forced-sale technique from the waitress. She also asked if I speak Chinese & after I said yes, she started to speak Chinese only to me even though I was with another non-Chinese speaking person; I think its totally rude.

Took a while to get service, but the man to right and the woman to my left, both got their orders taken, while I was being ignored and had to request service twice.Once I ordered my food, I then had to ask for water, silverware, napkin, tea (which I never got,) and soy sauce on my own so I could eat my food.The food did not taste good. The teriyaki sauce looked and tasted like water and brown sugar. My order of a spider roll was very miniscule, and the California roll tasted like gas station sushi.I definitely would not come back.

There are so many better Japanese restaurants you can give your business too.A bigger group came in looking for a table, the waitress started seating part of the group to the two tables next to us immediately and told them that she will combine a third table for the rest of the group. Turns out the third table was ours. Yes we were done eating, but my husband and I are still drinking our cocktails and was thinking of getting more. However, the waitress asked persistently a few times within 5 minutes if there is anything we need, because Im sure she wanted us to leave so the whole group can sit down. With the group looking at us, we felt so uncomfortable to order more. What kind of server and restaurant rushes out a paying customer? We just finished our meal no more than 10 mins ago, its not like weve been just sipping our drinks for hours. We also asked our udon to be packed, this udon still have almost full amount of soup and when this horrible waitress brought it back, she only packed the noodles with barely any soup! I will never recommend this place to anyone!

A surprising hit. The quality of the sushi here is great. We ordered a few off menu items - basically anything fatty and seared were wonderful. The seared salmon toro was particularly tasty. Very good service and vibrant atmosphere, with large screens lighting up the place.Recommended: seared salmon toro, butterfish, hamachi, roe with quail egg, 007, 0101.

The food and drink is ok. The experience that stayed with me is the service. Before being completely finished the server sat 2 people next to us and explained that they would put the tables together. The tables were the table I was sitting at the the table between me and the party. I had not received my check yet nor was planning on leaving. I was enjoying a cocktail. Then the waiter & someone who I believe to be the manager came by a few times to ask how everything was. I got the feeling they were trying to rush me out. The bad part was, there was a larger table right next to us. I had also ordered some Udon which I hardly ate, I really wanted it for lunch. I asked for it to go, and I swear the to go box was half the size of the Udon which I had a few bites of. I believe they took out a lot of the broth and squeezed the remaining inside a tiny container. The container ended up breaking/shattering on the way home and getting the rest of the broth all over my trunk .. not sure Ill be back.

They have some pretty high end sushi and specialyt entrees. However, I think that some of the gimick-y rolls, while good, take away from the flavors of the fish. Each roll I had, had a bit too much going on and the flavors became a bit convoluted. They have sake tastings which are pretty cool though.

I had a fantastic experience here at I Privé. 5 stars for service/experience, 4 stars for food.I came here with a girlfriend on a Wednesday night. We had reservations and were sat immediately. The service was INCREDIBLY attentive, within minutes of being seated we were asked for drinks, asked if we had questions on the menu, etc. All night long the servers were constantly by our side, giving suggestions, answering questions, etc.We ordered the Joys Sunamono, the Tony & Kathy, the i Belushi, the Josh, the Jada, the Danielle, and the Spring & Rene. The big hits were the Joys, the Tony & Kathy, the i Belushi, and the Jada. The Josh was OK, and I could have lived without the Spring & Rene and the Danielle.Joys Sunamono: Great ratio of fish to other stuff. Really good flavors, great starter, not very heavy.Tony & Kathy: The black cod was perfectly cooked, really nice skin on it.i Belushi: Easily my favorite dish of the night. I would be happy eating this every day for the rest of my life. It absolutely blew the night away. The chef came out and talked to us and told us how to eat the dish, first trying it plain, second trying it on a chip, and third trying it with a sake pairing. He recommended a sake to pair with it, and it was absurdly good. I cannot recommend this dish enough.Josh: We did two spicy tuna, two crab. It was good but incredibly greasy for what it was.Jada: A great combination of smoky and sweetDanielle: Definitely would have been fine NOT eating this. It was very garlicky and wasnt really anything special to write home about, unlike most of the previous dishes wed had. We visited on a Saturday evening, without reservations, and were able to be immediately seated at the sushi bar even though they were quite busy. We ordered a deluxe sushi dinner, a spider roll and an udon soup. One of the first things we noticed when we began eating the sushi was they they didnt use seasoned rice. The spider roll was okay, but weve had better at other places. The deluxe sushi dinner included 2 pieces of salmon (Sake) and 2 pieces of tuna (Maguro), which were both fresh. But the snapper (Tai) on the nigiri was not fresh and the yellowtail (Hamachi) on the nigiri was soggy. As part of the deluxe sushi we also got a cucumber roll (Kappamaki) and a California roll. The cucumber roll appeared to have been pre-made, since the nori wrapping was also soggy and broken. The California roll was very average. Overall, we were very disappointed. Service was good, but the food was only average, and the restaurant was very noisy. Considering that we can get excellent traditional sushi in Burlingame at Sakae, and non-traditional rolls at Barracuda, it is unlikely that well return to I Prive.

While the menu is very attractive, what I quickly discovered is that I Prive was bland. The sushi rice is an unusually large grained, bland variety, and the rice to topping/filling ratio is very heavy on the rice side. The fish is sitting in the refrigeration case unwrapped and drying out. The flavors in seasonings and sauces were bland. The sake was over-priced for the brands that were on offer. I didnt hear any Japanese spoken by anyone there, but rather both counter and wait-staff were speaking Chinese. Bottom line: Unless youre looking for what this restauranteur considers a trendy vibe, youll likely find mediocre value and be disappointed, especially with the flavors and textures.

The spicy miso ramen was delicious! It has just the right amount of heat and there is a grilled jalapeno pepper that infuses the bowl with even more spice while you eat. I got the it with the pork chashu, which was also tender and had some kind of glaze that elevated the dish. The soft boiled egg melts in your mouth. Ill be back to try out their happy hour!

Lots of screens to watch some sports and have some sushi and sake. The chef personally reccomended some dishes to us and even taught us how to eat it as they would in Japan
