2024-04-28 19:17:39**3.5 Stars**Conveniently located Japanese izakaya establishment in San Bruno strip mall.Ample parking and nice sushi bar and table seating without too long a wait. The menu is extensive with both specials, nigiri, rolls, appetizers, and Yakitori.Prices are a bit high end for the quality and the execution especially for the premium options such as Omakase, deluxe Chirashi or individually priced nigiri.Ankimo was served warm rather than chilled and the Chawanmushi was noticeably watery on top although ingredients were solid.Nigiri and Chirashi are most hampered by the rice which is a step below top options in San Mateo and Burlingame.Ichika Izakaya accepts all credit cards including Amex.

2024-04-07 09:15:06Ok, so if you never had true Wagyu let me tell you get it here! I don’t usually go to Japanese restaurants but have started more recently and I’m in love with the politeness, the culture of privacy and respect it’s very pleasant. The sake was super good. Loved the atmosphere 5/5 on food, 5/5 for flavor and 5/5 for design. And it’s 6 minutes away from the San Francisco Airport.

2024-01-11 07:20:56A pretty good Japanese place newish to San Bruno! We ordered the corn tempura, chawanmushi, beef tongue special, and the cream udon. Everything was really good except for the corn tempura, which felt a little too heavy than expected. Overall good price and service, would come again!

2024-01-07 02:34:03Conveniently located. The place is very very clean and well renovated!I enjoyed the sushi and the yakitori. The beef, beef tongue and the chicken skewers are super juicy! So I would recommend. The tempura udon was ok so I wouldn’t recommend unless you are very hungry.

2024-01-12 18:43:29Beautiful restaurant with carefully crafted dishes. To me this is on the cusp of really high-quality which can justify the smaller-than-average portions. We had to do another round of orders for everyone who ordered a roll 😅 My 6yo thought the chicken karaage was yummy but too peppery. Friendly staff!

2023-04-14 23:00:35I visited Ichika Izakaya and was thoroughly impressed by the food and service. The restaurant had a great selection of izakaya dishes, skewers, sushi, and sake, and everything I tried was delicious. The sushi was fresh and expertly prepared, and the izakaya dishes were full of flavor and texture. I especially enjoyed the oyster special and surprisingly, the corn tempura. The service was also excellent, with the staff being very friendly and accommodating. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. Apart from a group at the bar who were a bit rambunctious, the atmosphere was nice and cozy, making for a great dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend Ichika Izakaya for anyone looking for a great meal and friendly service. The food and atmosphere were top-notch, making for an enjoyable experience. The only reason I didnt give it five stars is that the prices were a bit on the higher side.

2023-12-05 04:09:33Its the only sushi restaurant inside Bayhill center near the YouTube campus. Ordered the grilled squid, giant roll, double Toro roll and the omakase sashimi. All are artfully prepared with good quality & fast service. However the serving size is a bit smaller than nearby sushi joints on El Camino (so bring your wallet or do a double take if you are hungry). I say check it out.

2023-01-29 23:40:40They have 3 locations (Brisbane, Milpitas, and San Bruno). My first time to this Bayhill Shopping Center location. Same side as Starbucks and across from CVS. Dining room is not big, but well lit with counter seating. Food is fresh and good. Service was excellent, and place is clean. We had a party of six and ate a variety of their foods. Sushi was good, beef was tender, and the ramen soup was delicious. The only thing was the noodles were over cooked. Their corn tempura is different and something to try. They even have a good variety of desserts. Will visit again...

2023-04-09 16:19:46This sushi place is definitely one of the top sushi place in my list. I would say probably the second place on my list. It has the best quality for the price you paid. The omekasa is around $129 per person, but the food quality and services is comparable (or even better) to some michelin one star Omekasa places that charge you $200-300 per person. The sushi chefs service was great and warm, and the waiter was super friendly (disclaimer: I am a regular there, so my opinion on the services might be impartial). For the value, I am paying the best deal of omekasa. Of course, you probably can find top notch sushi out there but you probably cant find it for this price.
