Kabuki is still my favorite, but we go here from time to time. Im still trying new things here and hope to find my favorites like I have at Kabuki. Dont get me wrong, great sushi here, too.There is plenty of seating, and the food comes out quick. Everything is always spot on, just as described.

What else can I say? Good food. Reasonable prices. Great service. The trifecta is what I experienced here and, even though this is out of my way, it was worth the travel time. My bento box lunch included succulent teriyaki chicken, fresh-tasting California roll, salad, miso soup, and crispy Tempura, all of which was good for under $20 and served within 10 minutes of ordering. I will be back to try more soon.

(7/8/2023) Service was excellent and friendly that always helping us to refill our drinks. For the food, Chirashi Bowl was good because sashimi was fresh. Also, Cheese Katsu Curry was really big portion, and Katsu was delicious as well. Lobster Roll was my coworkers favorite because it was delicious, and it was worth the price. I recommended Saba and Salmon Belly Sushi because it was fresh, and these Nigiri made my mouth water. Overall, Coworkers wanted to come back here again, and this place was one of my sushi list in my opinion.

Very nice staff. Attentive and fast service. It is a popular spot, and can build a pretty significant wait. I would recommend coming early, and getting food to go! It’s a larger restaurant. Pretty extensive East Asian cuisine menu. Sushi was solid, but not the tastiest/top tier quality, but great for the price, and serving sizes were awesome. Teriyaki beef was slightly above average. Beef quality was a little low, but the grilled onions were good. Plenty of signature/specialty rolls. Complimentary miso soup. Parking lot out front.

Depending on when you go, getting a table can be difficult. The whole party needs to be there, this is noted, but for some reason, people dont get this policy. Parking can be challenging since it shares the lot with a gym and a bowling alley. Service is quick and fast once you are seated and ordered. Getting your name on the list can be frustrating since patrons dont seem to understand the concept of lines and just walk up to the hostess when others are waiting to add their names to the wait list.

The food is always great! This last visit, even the service was great. Usually, they are so busy that its difficult to get our servers attention, and they dont bother to come check on us to see if we need anything. I was pleasantly surprised this time. The lady was refilling our glasses before we even asked. She brought us napkins after 1 request. She didnt pout over the fact that we asked her for something. The food is always fresh and tasty, which is what keeps us coming back. 👌 They do tend to have a wait to be seated, but its never more than 15-20minutes, and I am always there with a group of at least 5-6 people. I definitely recommend Yellow Sunset, Coral Reef Roll & Blue Crab Roll. If not a sushi fan, the Bento Box meals are good, too. Theres options for every palate. You wont regret it.

We tried five different dishes and they were all very good. The service was friendly and attentive. The interior seems a bit dated but the fish seemed fresh and will prepared. Their prices seem a little higher than other sushi restaurants in the area but we will go back again.

Seriously good fresh sushi . It was a family dinner treat . The presentation was beautiful. A bit loud and lively - slightly feeling crowded on a Friday night though - would prefer going on a quieter night to really enjoy the meal and to be able to have conversations. Celebrated my birthday with 10 friends at Ichima. The sushi rolls are always fresh & delicious. They work real hard for big parties. You wont be disappointed. We moved 60 miles away but I wanted my birthday celebration here.

All items were fresh and tasty. We had the diner roll, the crunch roll, the crab roll and other items. The tempura was also nice and the miso soup was complimentary. We had a great time enjoying the food and our conversation. The service was quick but not too friendly, just ok service.

My favorite Japanese food ever!Lunch special with 2 item choice is AWESOME! The teriyaki chicken is delicious with a lot of chicken the only thing is I would order the teriyaki on the side they tend to put it on pretty heavy and its very sweet I recommend that you try for dessert the fried ice cream for $4.95 it can feed easily three people and is absolutely delicious!

We needed to go back to have their fresh sushi and sashimi and nicely prepared bentos. The sashimi deluxe, spider roll and uni are my family’s go to. We tried several appetizers today. The spicy tuna on crispy rice, fried soft shell crab, shrimp and mix tempura are delicious. The takoyaki with octopus is underwhelming. Service was excellent despite the peak hour.

Glad we came for lunch here as the next door Kabuki had a long wait.The bento lunch choices are fantastic and a good deal. Many combination selections for the bento boxes. I had teriyaki chicken with California roll while my wife ordered their teriyaki chicken with spicy tuna sushi and tempura.Both orders were prepared in a bento box with salad and miso soup to with the lunch main selections. The chicken was very tender and tasty. The teriyaki sauce was right on the note with sweetness and saltiness. I love their California roll. I felt this is better than the one from next door.Even though we didn’t have a chance to try out their sashimi, they looked amazing from the food in the next table. We will definitely come back to try them out. The sashimi prices on the menu seemed to be reasonable.Right now, the restaurants till offers outdoor dining only.

Always fresh and really large Rolls. I dont know how they use the same Soy Paper like other Sushi restaurants, yet their Rolls are appreciably larger! Also very vibrant colors for their fish..it speaks to the quality of their product to me. Also I can have Leftovers and the next day tastes like the previous day. Yes, even the rice is not hard, again speaks to quality and original freshness! Only issue, extra Ginger is a modest charge (for Take Out); Id rather they skimp on those Wooden solid quality Chop Sticks and not charge for ginger. Again, thats just me! You MUST try the Ahi Tuna Steaks with a large amount of Fresh Guacamole!!! (See picture) All in all, always busy, crowded often only speaks to their popularity! We all cant be wrong! 5 Stars and my Highest recommendation! 🍤🍣

The quality of food is just OK, the price is a bit above average. Especially, the hot tea is just like water and they charge you $2.95. The services are not that good and you have to keep asking for services while waiter and waitresses are wandering around and they dont see you waving them for services.I did not visit this place for the past 10 months, I went again and my experience was the same. We found another ridiculous issue again. They preset 18% tip on the total tips for a table of 5 people and dare to ask for an additional 2%, 3%, 5%, 7% or no tips while asking for your signature on their handheld credit card machine. Usually, the preset tips is for 6 or 8 more people in other restaurant. I came home and found out that the total tips charged to me is 20%, not 18% as stated on the receipt, that including the total food price and Sales Tax. I dont understand why we need to pay any tip on the Sales Tax which is a Trust Fund to be remitted to the government. Please see the attached receipt which I blocked my personal info on the attached receipt. This is a total rip off, be very careful !!!!

Great sushi place. Fast table service. Portions are generous. Big menu to choose from. Parking might be tough, because there are plenty of other businesses in the same Parking lot. There is typically a wait during dinner, so expect to wait about 20 minutes. I recommend the two or three item bento. Thank you everyone for reading my review. Stopped by this place for a quick bite. They are located in a big plaza with Ralphs and LA Fitness. It is easy to miss this place as they are located behind Ralphs.Ordered Salmon Carpaccio and spider roll. I like Salmon Carpaccio. They put fires garlic on top of the salmon along with fish roll and green onion! It was very flavorful! The spider roll is decent.Price and service are reasonable! Will come back for sure!Came here for a quick dinner as I was hungry. This place is very popular, and it was almost fully by 6pm. I ordered the dinner bento 3 items: salmon teriyaki, sashimi, and mix tempura. The meat was cold. The teriyaki sauce tasted artificial and thick. It feels like it was sauce from a bottle instead of made from scratch. The tempura does not taste fresh. A bit disappointed. Service was slow. Plenty of parking spaces are available. Price was reasonable.

Came here on a Thursday afternoon with my mom for lunch. Shes been telling me how their bento boxes are a great lunch deal, since she had it for lunch a week prior. Despite the restrictions of letting patrons dine indoors being lifted to 50% capacity, Ichima has not prepared itself for indoor dining at the moment. Everything is currently outdoors underneath their large canopy tent. The tables are spaced out far enough between other tables that youre not in close proximity between other guests.Getting to the food, we both ordered a bento combination for lunch. My mom had their Teriyaki Salmon, California roll, and Mixed Tempura. I ordered the Pork Cutlet, Spicy Tuna Roll and Mixed Tempura. We both ended up packing most of it to-go because the amount of food they give you is ridiculous. Both our lunch were scrumptious and worth the $13.25 per combination.You can literally portion this meal out for lunch and dinner. Its no wonder America has a obesity problem because of the large portions were given. When I went to Japan right before Covid came to the states, my meals in Japan were a quarter of the size of what I was given for lunch here and that still filled me up. It may seem like Im complaining about their portions but Im just stating that your meal can easily be two separate meals, unless youre truly hungry and demolish the entire thing.Definitely give this spot a try if youre in the area and craving Japanese food because you cant go wrong with their dishes. The servers are welcoming as well and do their very best in giving you the pre-covid dining experience.

Our server was Venny and she gave us the cold shoulder when we said not to order drink or soup.When we were ready to order, we made two eye contacts with her and she ignored us. Kendy came and took our order.When Venny brought over our second dish, she held the dish in the air not saying anything nor placing it on the table. I had to get the dish from her. The only smile we got from her was when she handed us the check.Kendy was very nice and attentive, always came to our table with warmth and smile.We would’ve given all the tip to Kendy if we could. This sushi restaurant was quite underwhelming in terms of the quality of the fish being served. The fish did not seem fresh, and the taste was not pleasing. I got the chirashi bowl while others got the sashimi combo a and a hungry roll. The hungry roll tasted okay, but the sashimi pieces and my chirashi bowl did not meet up to our expectations. Servers should be more well rounded and not judgemental. Im half Japanese but look more blackanese and when i asked for sashimi, our server facial expression changed into a surprised look and she asked me if Im sure I want sashimi. My favorite Japanese restaurant closed in 2014. I found Ichima as a substitute.The food at Ichima is just as good as my favorite Japanese restaurant. Every time we are in the area, we go to Ichima for lunch. I usually order the lunch bento box with 2 items of beef and salmon teriyaki. My husband usually gets the chicken teriyaki and California roll. The food is fresh. We always have leftover for dinner.

My go-to spot in Pasadena. They have a wide variety of choices from raw (super fresh fish) to cooked (baked/fried) rolls, bento box, and katsu in curry sauce. I hope they bring back their bbq short ribs, those were delish. They will accommodate for large groups but will only seat you once your whole party has arrived.

My first time going and the food was delicious. The service is excellent and the servers are very friendly. Highly recommend it. I got a bento box with Salmon Teriyaki, spicy tuna roll and gyozas. The special roll I got is called the Bora Bora. (Inside: crab, cucumbers and shrimp tempura. Outside: spicy tuna, and two different sauces on the side for dipping) I got a limonade too, really good not to sour, perfectly sweetened.

Shashimi Salad is the way to go if you are looking for something light and delicious. This place can get busy though so if you go during peak hours(noon and after 6) there can be a wait. The salad is a good togo option too. It will run you about 12 to 13 dollars. The spider roll is also pretty good. Overall a pretty solid 🍣 place.

Plenty of parking but difficult to find at first as it’s behind the Ralph’s store. All must be present to even be able to be seated and you can’t add another person later. That gets stars deducted because if one shows late, the majority of the party may have to wait for that one and that could be 30 mins or starvation for the majority of the people. They do not seat you at a table where you can add that one person that will sit separately from you later. They’re not very business savvy in accommodating and therefore lost the business of the one who came late. We probably won’t return again as we find it a hassle as no other restaurants does this and always accommodates for the ones who come late. Plus; they weren’t even busy. The beef teriyaki was mediocre at best. Poor quality of beef. Everything else was ok. Nothing to rave about honestly. I’ve had much better elsewhere without the hassle and with better quality beef. I don’t normally come here but my sister likes it so I accompany her.

Best sushi restaurant!Updating five years later:Still the best sushi place ever! But their service is not as great as it used to be. We waited a while before we could order. Then my husband needed a refill and we waited over 15 minutes and no one checked on us and we had to wave down a server. To some, Omakase can be a little intimidating. Will the chef give me some fishy fish, and Ill be gagging right in front of them?Ichimas Omakase is very approachable and insanely delicious. The chef will ask if there are things you dont like. Chef Take, gave us around 15 pieces of amazing sushi. I had things I had never had before, and the best versions of things Id had elsewhere. It was just one of those meals I wont forget for a very long time.

Great sushi! Ordered for pick up. I just couldnt stop eating! Everything was fresh! They gave extra sauces and ginger. Although, I would say the was no soy sauce packets. No worries tho! I. Asian! We have gallons of those in our household! Low sodium and all too! Honestly, couldnt say which is my favorite, but the spider roll is always good. They do have dine-out sittings if you want to dine there. Still risky tho, I wouldnt do it. They test everyone seated and I believe they get your phone number for contact tracing if need be. Not sure tho, didnt ask or I didnt see anyone in the process of checking in for tables. When all you can sushi is sushi about, ICHIMA!

You can catch them in a window for HOURS where the phone rings immediately through to a message that states this customer has not set up voicemail. I dont know what happened to this place. It used to be my favorite sushi place in the whole of so cal and Ive eaten there since early 2000s but ever since the reopen after pandemic and its been on a downhill trajectory. Long time favorite of mine. So my job is to make this as unbiased as possible.The interior has been significantly renovated to the point that the inside has a great warm and cozy atmosphere perfect for a small, fun date. Even better for a larger group.The servers are great people who are friendly and always ready to help fill the request of the patron; and in my experience they make few mistakes for the amount that they are busy.The sushi chefs (on my most recent visits) have all been new, and I cannot make a comment on them because I havent sat at the bar, but their work is quick, clean, and as tight as ever. Especially with the addition of so many new rolls. With that said, the quality of their raw fish is high. Theres no smell to it, it isnt dry or stringy, they dont cover up their fish with sauces (unless thats the type of roll youre into), and their rice is well packed and sticky.As for their side items, I cannot remark because I hardly get anything other than rolls or nigiri, but the miso soup is nothing impressive.Unfortunately the view outside the restaurant isnt anything to look at, but when youre at Ichima, youre there for friends/family and food.

Ive been to Ichima many times over the last decade or so. It has always been pretty good but at various times there would be issues with the lighting being bad (very bright and close to the eye-line of the guests), or the sushi being so-so. At worst we once felt unwelcome showing up about 40 minutes before closing on a slow night. Nobody is perfect and generally our experiences were enough to keep us coming back.Thats a long setup for this review. On new years eve we dined here and everything was excellent! They had remodeled since our last visit and the decor felt much warmer, as did the lighting. The service and staff were excellent and most of all, the sushi pieces and rolls were fantastic! I regularly have sushi at a handful of places around pasadane and the San Gabriel Valley and our dinner last night was among the best Ive had. There are a couple places in DTLA that I consider to be the best in all of Los Angeles but Ichima has definitely moved up on the list of local sushi for me.

Ichima has been a local favorite for a long time. They had great prices and were a great value (big fish pieces). They also offer free Miso soup with all orders.Recently they went through a remodel and maybe change in management because things arent quite the same. All of the prices seem to have gone up a little. Im not complaining about that, its to be expected occasionally. The thing that drops this place from five to four stars is that theyve changed the recipe on some things. Also, as odd as this might sound, theyve changed how they plate the salads (I know, you go to a sushi restaurant and order salad?!? Trust me, the Sashimi salad is (was) an awesome value... a ton of fish!) Now, instead of a plate, they serve it in a bowl. This makes it *very* difficult to share. Its big enough that you really *need* to share it unless its the only thing youre ordering. Too picky? Maybe. Also, the spicy rolls used to have this creamy mayo based sauce... not its just a squirt of sriracha (spelling??).... sad face emoji.All of this being said, Ill still be coming here, and here alone, when Im craving sushi on a weeknight.

Incredibly Rude hostess. On Saturday, June 22, 2019 about 2:30 pm we walked out of ichima. Unfortunately, we love ichima but the hostess was not only rude, unprofessional, condescending and disrespectful. Went there on a whim when our normal sushi place was closed down. This place is the best hidden secret for Sushi!! Theyre reasonably priced, great customer service an all around great place for family night or hanging with friends. Needless to say, we only go here from now on!

This place used to be good the way it was with the old ownership. Now, they tried to fool people with some decorations and Jacked the prices. The sachimi B plate used to be $22, now $28 and the portion is still the same.

The quality of the chicken is the worst selection. The sushi is not fresh & the tempura shrimp is not very fresh. Ive stopped eating their as of today. I have gotten the runs immediately after eating their today for the 3rd consecutive time.
