Ichizen Sushi and Japanese Cuisine in Poway

Simply the one and only, best real Japanese diner in Poway, been going there for years, super consistent every time, never hit and miss, always bullseye!When you come into the shop, okami (女将) always provide excellent service and the friendliness will remind you of your old friend.We like the udon and Ramen, not world class, but they are very simple and comfort, right amount of flavor, right amount of garnishing, nothing exaggerating.Bento probably the highlight for us, flavorful main item, but the salad are always great. But the tempura are amazing! It’s not some pre-made tempura stay on rack for while, it’s hot and fresh! Not only the shrimp are savory, all veggies too! When you finish your bento, the host will bring you an ice cream at the end, it’s the imuraya matcha wafer, but carefully platted with strawberry and chocolate sauce, simple and beautiful.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This restaurant is excellent! The food here was reasonably priced and the food was amazing. Presentation of the food was excellent. The service here was great. The lady taking our order was so kind. Will be coming back here again. If your in the Poway area please stop by and grab a bite to eat.

Great selection of food and everything we ordered was tasty and yummy. Fast service and nice dining room. We will come back.

Absolutely love this place! Super peaceful and nice Japanese restaurant with amazing quality food. Been here three times in a month or so and plan on coming back many more times!

I love it when I can try out a small business in Poway and actually like the food. Please continue to support your local small business!I actually never knew this place existed. It’s wedged between Five Guys and Little Ceasars. What attracted me was the oversized big banner that referenced 19% off entire bill.I ordered for pick up: Tonkotsu ramen ($11.48), shrimp tempura udon ($10.98), and a lunch bento box that came with rice, salad, miso soup, 2 piece CA rolls, 4 tempura, 2 gyoza, a small drink and a protein ($9.98). I got chicken teriyaki.They packaged the bag very tightly and neat. I was afraid of the udon and ramen broth spilling but they put a small piece of card board at the bottom of the bag for support.The udon and ramen noodles where kept separately in a container and the broth was still super hot. Both broths were good but udon tasted like what you can make from the store. The tonkotsu broth was yummy and creamy. The ramen was tasty and had texture and chewy. I would order the ramen again but the udon.The bento box was well worth the price. I wish the chicken had more teriyaki drizzle because it was a bit dry. Can’t go wrong with tempura and they gave a huge container of sauce to dip. It was all veggie but the udon came with one shrimp tempura. I was also surprised that the lunch bento prince was offered on a weekend.Please don’t forget to tip more since 19% discount was given.

Had the spicy tonkatsu ramen. It was excellent. They do charge for iced tea refills though. Finished off with the green tea mochi. Overall great place. Ill come back.

Extremely chill sushi place, with amazing service. Consistantly good sushi.. Im sure the other stuff is great too we just havent tried it cause the sushi is too dang good! If you want a crowd and music and stuff theres other places but if you just want some amazing sushi here it is!( also: Clean bathroom and ample parking so, yay!)

Delicious and fresh food at a reasonable and affordable price. Loved how conscientious, welcoming and outstanding service I was provided. Their lunch special bento box was fantastic(beef teriyaki, steamed rice, 2 CA sushi rolls, 4 pc. vegetable tempura, 2 pc. gyoza, a small side of house salad & miso soup with a sm. soft drink) I ordered a Japanese import mango creamy soda to try out; all for under $15 the best well-spent money Ive spent in many years. This is definitely a must visit place. Ive added it to my favorites list.

This place is so good! I think I have a new favorite place to eat when Im in town!I had the sesame chicken bento box and I loved it! The vegetable tempura was really good, so was the sesame chicken! It also came with miso soup and a drink!The customer service is excellent and they were so nice!

The ramen and bento boxes here are amazing. My wife and I come here quite often because the food is great and the service is friendly. They have a really good garlic sauce on the side that goes amazing with their Tonkotsu Ramen. The bento boxes also come with a free drink during lunch which is nice. The boxes are packed with several different items; fried veggies, salad, sushi, soup, and choice of meat! I highly recommend coming here and taking a few friends as well.Sushi prices here are hard to beat. The taste is alright. Their appetizers are the only thing that isnt too good compared to everything else they have to offer. The interior is neatly decorated. Staff are friendly but service speed can vary. Parking is plentiful. Good place to order sushi in bulk to cater for a casual party.
