Icho Izakaya in Temple City

This is my third time dining here, and this time we ordered the $550 set menu. The portion size was generous, and the dishes were amazing. The red snapper sashimi was incredibly tender, the lobster sashimi was refreshing and crunchy, and there was a wide variety of sashimi in the sashimi salad. The spicy and numbing pigs trotters were soft and sticky, providing a satisfying combination of flavors. There were seven of us, and we couldnt finish it all; we ended up taking a lot home. Highly recommend this set menu.

No complaints about the food quality. But I think its a bit overpriced. Other places Ive been to offer better price with the same quality. The server who took our orders seemed like he wasnt very happy to answer our questions. Probably we ordered too little? Lol...

Love their fresh Sashimi and Oysters. Friendly service and nice atmosphere.

Tried out this place due to a recommendation from some friends. And came out here to celebrate my grandmothers birthday. Be aware if you bring a cake, it probably wont be in a fridge because our birthday cake was room temp by the time we were done with our meal..Our order: Sashimi boat, salmon fried rice and tempura plateThe sashimi boat, which supposedly feeds 4 people.. We had a party of 4 adults and 1 kid. For $200, it seems pricey, but theres A LOT of sashimi on there. All the fish and shellfish were fresh. On the boat, there were the generics of yellow tail, salmon, and tuna; but also they had a whole small lobster sashimi, whole small snapper, marinated fish liver, a few slices of geoduck, and two sweet shrimp. A nice to have would be that the boat is organized that you can pick from it from both sides.. The carcass of the lobster, snapper, and the shrimp gets made into a second dish. We did porridge for the lobster (a little too peppery for my taste), and the shrimp/snapper carcass was fried.The tempura was well made, batter was light and everything came out hot. Wouldve been nice if there was a spoon for the sauce..The salmon fried rice was also a bit pepper for my taste but it was still good.Ill probably go back again but this time only ordering the sashimi boat or a chirashi bowl for two people, then we wouldnt need to order anything else.

Never tried this place until last week when one of my best friends invited us for dinner here. Sashimi was so fresh and the portion was big. Their Shanghai style cuisine was very authentic. Highly recommend.

Nice and roomy! They have several rooms for private gatherings. Face masks are required before entering the restaurant. They even have a hand sanitizer on the table!!Food is delicious and fresh!! Wazen Grill Fish combo is really yummy; love their steam egg as part of this dish too.

Came here for lunch. Fresh and delicious Japense food. I like to order the two items combo on the lunch special menu. The two items I like are grilled salmon collar and teriyaki beef. It comes with a miso soup, salad, and a bowl of rice. $19.95 for the two items combo. There are many items to choose from lunch special menu.

This place got panned in some previous review for not being authentic. Its true, its not a Japanese authentic restaurant, but it is excellent in terms of its Taiwanese ownership. The slices of fish are thick, fresh and delicious... None of these thin slivers common in authentic Japanese Sashimi plates. We had shrimp sashimi, as fresh as can be. The decor is gorgeous, dramatic and striking. Service is excellent. All of us enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Every item came separately meat, chicken, tempura, rice on its own little plate. Meat was very soft. Atmosphere was very loud. More Chinese restaurant than Japanese. Sushi looked good.

Great service. The servers were very attentive and explained their sets very well.I had the sashimi wazen which has a huge portion. The sashimi were very thick cuts, i love a little bit of everything and the sause pairing they did on the white fish was pretty good. Tempura was amazing with the savory dipping sause. The chawanmushi has quite some clams and fish cakes though personally Im not a big fan of that.
