Update: owner made things right by offering a refund that should have been done at the store. But alls well that ends wellPretty horrible experience. Waited 45 minutes for a sandwich while others came and went with theirs. Seems they dont really know what theyre doing. Usually I recommend Ikes but maybe avoid this one

Best sandwich place I know of. They have very innovative sandwiches and lots of vegetarian options.Meatless mike, and Steve Jobs sandwiches are highly recommended.They also give a candy with every sandwich :)

I love Ikes Love Sandwich Shop so after I picked up Papperelli and Doberman we headed straight there for a couple of sandwiches each. I got my standard order, a roast beef and a ham and cheese to go. We were due at Ernies in 20 minutes for his monthly poker game, they always last about 5 hours so 2 sandwiches each is in order. That Bilco sure can deal the cards...almost to good, and thats exactly why we bring Papperelli, he can always spot a card shark.The sandwiches were delicious as always ☆☆☆☆☆

Great sandwiches! I went around 1:30pm and it wasnt too busy. I ordered and received my sandwich in 10min. I love the open kitchen, everything is very clean and organized. The staff are also very nice and willing to help with any questions you might have! Overall great sandwich stop

Sweet sandwich experience at Ikes. They seamlessly handled our gluten free needs, using fresh gloves and gear.A good veggie selection available.It wasnt the cheapest - 2 GF sandwiches (meat) and 2 bags of kettle chips came to $25 before tip. Not an every day choice, but with it.

Walked in stared at the menu for a couple minutes while standing about 10 feet from the register. Someone finally comes up and says they have a big order so its gonna be a 20-30 min wait. Okay no big deal, I can come back another day. But it would be nice if someone made effort to tell me that before I waste time thinking on orders for people.Came back the next week. Guy in front of me had to wait for the cashier to stop texting to help him. The staff also apparently forgot how to call out orders so that anyone knows whose order is up. And minor but still irritating, they forgot the Apple pops.Scrolling through the reviews I see a ton about how the customer service at this location has become terrible. Each time the owner replies with something like give us more details so we can improve. Those reviews and replies go back almost a year, and it seems like nothing has changed.Ikes has fallen off and I would recommend passing on this location.

My first visit to Ike’s. Service was fine and the menu is huge..... All the sandwiches are served hot but ours were cold by the time we broke into them at Pt Lobos. Recommend eating them hot because the meat is just not as tasty cold - microwaved some later and confirmed much better hot...... A bit pricey for what you get but given the variety I can why the chain is popular now.

Great when its great, but cant seem to get no lettuce no tomato right, even on a *meatball sub*. Since everything is take-out, and theres no receipt on the bag, I have no clue until I get home. That sucks and Im tired of ending up with a bad sandwich. Yall are batting 50% on my last four sandwiches.

Did an online order, when I got there they had a huge order (the receipt was yards long) and was told I had a ten minute wait. Oh well. But no apology or any sort of commiseration that even though my order had been in for an hour they were just going to start it. Sat and waited and 25 minutes later got my three sandwiches and one bag of chips for $58 including tip. No words from the staff, just pay and leave.Just too much for sandwiches any day, and certainly with the poor social skills and time management. Think Im done with Ikes.

I came in at 8:30pm for a sandwich, they close at 9. The one guy clearly didnt even want to let me get a sandwich as they looked to be done cleaning up already. He said they wouldnt toast it because they had cleaned the oven. Luckily the other guy at least made it cold for me. I dont know if the employees were trying to get out early? Or policy is to leave by 9? But then the place should close at 830. Ikes is my favourite sandwich spot and I havent had it since I moved away 3 years ago, I was so looking forward to grabbing one as I went through town and this is such a disappointment :(

My family and I have always come to this Ikes, for the past 7 years. Recently the quality of the shop has deteriorated. The customer service is awful, theyve mistaken me for a Dasher numerous times despite being a semi-regular. Not sure if its because the workers there dont seem to care enough, that being said the quality of the food being handed to me has recently been slimy and grimy. Not to mention this last visit resulted in food poisoning.

What happened to Ikes!? Their food used to be so good (pre-pandemic). I havent been to Ikes since the beginning of 2020. I went a few days ago to another location, picked up my go-to Matt Cain on French bread, and the bread (usually the best part) tasted soggier. Kind of like Subways bread...thinking it was just a one time thing, I went yesterday to this location, hoping the bread would be as fresh as I remember. Unfortunately, the bread was the same, soggy tasting, and just unimpressive. Did Ikes change their bread ingredients to save money? It honestly tasted like a Subway sandwich, and for 12.95+ tax (around $14+ after tax), the sandwich is not worth it. Ive asked around to a few friends who used to be die hard Ikes fans, and theyve also noticed a difference in taste (primarily the bread) post-pandemic. After these two unfortunate incidences, Im sad to say I can no longer afford to pay $14+ for a mediocre sandwich, and will have to say bye to Ikes.

Ordered pickup and once I got to the store they told me that they could not make any sandwiches because they were getting their shipment delivered and that everything was frozen. They were extremely rude and unprofessional and didnt even apologize for the trouble they caused me. They called me bad names when I left and acted like the situation was my fault. If they cant make any orders then they should turn off their store on doordash store.

This is the best places to get sandwiches in the Bay Area. I am so addicted to their dutch crunch I never want a sandwich on any other bread- they sell their rolls for $5 for a bag of 6 and I actually use them when I make sandwiches at home. I’m not vegan, but they have the best vegan chicken I’ve ever had and I get it all the the time. I have been ordering a lot lately because they have been having $7 or $8 sandwich deals that I can’t miss. Please give this place a try instead of going to Subway or McCalister’s, you will not regret it.

Wow, have standards gone down since I came here pre pandemic. I walk in here first thing I notice music playing with mild profanity and a bit loud, which wasnt a good vibe. Was about to walk out but then decided to order anyway as I was hungry. After I got my order, some other track started playing that was downright vulgar. Was thinking one of the 4 employees there would realize this isnt appropriate and would shut it off, but to my shock nope.. Fortunately, I came by myself and not with my kids..That, and the bread was soggy and it wasnt nearly as good as I remember it used to be.

Ive attempted to go to this location a couple of times. And finally did it and it was pretty nice.Their sandwiches are quite huge to be able to inhale standing. Sometimes, you dont have a place to take them too, and you just want to eat! This location is also close to a university so you can just imagine how crowded it can get on certain times.

I was told I needed to go there and try the Dutch Crunch bread when I was visiting a friend in San Jose. I was not disappointed. The bread is really good. The menu is huge too. I settled on a sandwich and enjoyed a nice lunch. The only regret was I was looking for some ice tea (fresh brew), but there was none. This was a small store so i am not surprised. It would be a good idea to split one of the sandwiches as they are large. Overall a good experience.

The sandwich was awesome...I ordered the Kerri Walsh/#25. The bread was really fresh and I appreciat the sandwich maker warming the meat. This was my first time at Ikes but not my last. The only critical thing I would say is that they are a little skimpy on the bacon and it was a little pricey for a sandwich. Other than that it was all good.

Going to a concert at Mission Santa Clara, I was looking for a good place for some dinner. We live in Gilroy and are not familiar with this area but the pictures of the sandwiches looked good! Parking was definitely a challenge, but didnt take too long. There were SO many selections and different sandwiches, they listed probably 30-40 sandwiches (about 1/3 vegetarian and also listed chicken as halal). They prepared our sandwiches very quickly and the sandwiches were delicious, absolutely a place I would go to again. The restaurant had a very pleasant atmosphere and they gave us lollipops for dessert!

Love the cleverly named sandwiches here. They are on the pricey side. My favorite is the Steve Nash (#10) It is a delicious blend of halal chicken marinara and provolone on dutch crunch bread. Dont particularly like the atmosphere here, and parking can be challenging, but the do make a delicious sandwich.

My son took me to the Santa Clara Ikes - my first time there.Amazing sandwich - Larisa O. I couldnt figure out exactly what made it so good. Just the combination of everything.I will say that the Dutch crunch roll was really good. Ive always hated that because what Ive had in the past was beyond crunchy and was painful to chew. Not this one. Tasty, warm, and just a little bit of crunch.I really like sandwiches, and this place has replaced Togos for me. I just hope that theres one close to me.

Ikes has great sandwiches for all tastes and dietary requirements. I usually dont go for fake meat, but this place has some great options. They have a variety of meat, vegetarian and vegan options with multiple bread choices. Their dutch crunch is my favorite. Sandwiches are quite big and very filling. This location is close to Santa Clara University and usually has a lot of students hanging out here. Service is quick, staff friendly and sandwiches are consistently good. Our go to place to pick up a sandwich for a long hike.

Very solid Ikes - I like that they have their own set of unique sandwiches here including some that are themed around Santa Clara University. Very cute touch.The seating is a little off here. They dont have a ton of space which makes it awkward to eat there. However, Ikes sandwiches are pretty easy to take to go, so its not a huge issue.

#240 with the ribeye and yellow BBQ sauce is quite likely the best sandwich I have every had. It will join a few others in a top spot in my memory. Like if I could ever have the Shakeys pizza hot sub, or the original Alvin Ord on a good day, or the baloney and cheese my grandmother made on that one trip. Just recently found out they have vegetarian and vegan sandwiches and Ive been going frequently to try them all. Hit or miss service. Sally ride is my fave, cant go wrong with vegan turkey. Ask for veg meat well done. Can pass on the fried zucchini coins, theres very little zucchini and lots of breading.

Have a great selection of veggie/vegan sandwiches too, as well as gluten free bread! Probably not recommended if youre afraid of getting your fingers covered in deliciousness though :)

Small place that we just happened to stumble upon when searching for lunch. Boy, did we luck out. This place was amazing - the decor, the staff, the FOOD; everything was top notch. I got the sandwich with fried chicken and buffalo sauce, which did not disappoint. The menu was huge (just like their sandwiches), and I foolishly didnt even read the bottom part of the menu that explained the different types of bread and additional toppings. I got the SF sourdough, and I really liked it - the Dutch Crunch seemed really good too from my friends sandwiches. Ill definitely be going back and trying out different sandwiches. This place reminded me of the Rutgers Grease Trucks Fat Sandwiches back in NJ.

Was highly disappointed when I couldn’t even eat my lunch I ordered through the app it was to pick up at 12:45 I went in at 12:50 and they hadn’t even started my order they had no idea about it. Next I asked for no dirty sauce add cucumbers and mustard. I got no mustard and no cucumbers ?!? My sandwhich was also completely drenched in teriyaki sauce so by the time I got to eat it was soggy. If you havent been to Ikes Lair then you need to be here and try it. They have 100s of sandwiches that they have on their website. My favorite is the Kryptonite. Its a $20 sandwich but will feed 2 people. There is about 6 different meats in there. Loads of sauces, cheese sticks, avocado, and onion rings. The Matt Cain is awesome as well. I believe theres roast beef, godfather sauce and lettuce. Very simple but delicious.

Been going here for years and always loved it. However Im giving it 4 stars for two reasons: they dont recycle their glass bottles like they used to, and now they charge an extra 75 cents on every order in support of minimum wage & benefits increases. Youd think a company with so many locations, making enough profit from sooo many sales would be able to pay their workers more without passing the cost to the customers. They do say the charge is voluntary but cmon, really? I would have expected much more from a chain like Ikes!

I walked in and started exploring the menu when i came across a sandwich which had Halal Chicken and pig bacon in it. When i as a Muslim explained the manager regarding how serious this issue is about mixing these two, because as a muslim i was about to order that sandwich but Allah made me aware to read all that comes in sandwich saved me from eating pork. The manager then replied that he liked the way they two taste together pissed me off even more because i have met the owner in san Francisco location. Who was very nice and believed in selling Halal meat but today im ashamed of Ikes and plan not to ever go there unless that manager can do some studies regarding how Halal works and appologize and take off the bacon from menu. This is a great Ikes location with amazing sandwiches, but a very real lack of parking - especially after the city changed the back Street to permit parking only. Brace yourself for a tricky parking situation, but the sandwiches are well worth it!

Annoying that they added a $0.75 surcharge to every order without telling you or seeing any obvious signage. Its only $0.75 but the principle matters to me. I asked the manager and he gave me some spiel about higher rents. Thats fine, but dont just sneak it in there. He also said next time I can request to not be charged the fee... so its optional apparently.
