A nice sandwich place in Berkeley. The portion is good, and they have free lollipop that comes with the sandwich you order. I had Steph Curry, which is great. The sauce in the sandwich is pretty unique, and there are lots of choices on the menu. The restaurant has great creativity and it is worth trying.

TLDR: Ordered a simple Jim Rome.1st attempt: added surprise pickles2nd attempt: no turkey3rd attempt: no cheese, no avocadoI give up.Ordered a Jim Rome from their website with lettuce, tomato, and onion.It was delivered and made with pickles. I called the store and explained the situation. They gave me a refund which was awesome.I proceeded to order another sandwich on their website. The exact same thing. Once delivered, I found it was made without turkey....I got in my car and drove to the store and spoke with the same employee, I think, since there were only 2 working. He was shocked that turkey was not included and offered to remake the sandwich a 3rd time. I gave him both receipts with the same order and received the correct sandwich. I did bring back both mistakes and asked him if they could give it to someone. He said u could leave it and theyll give it to some homeless people at the end of the night. I was glad to hear the food was not going to waste.My issue boils down to ordering delivery for the convenience. After 2 attempts of delivery, I still had to drive down to the store and have them make the sandwich a 3rd time. I get that mistakes happen, but come on, twice in a row with the same sandwich and customer.It doesnt end there. I got home and went to eat the third attempt of my sandwich. No cheese. No avocado.Im done. Should I tempt fate and ask for a 4th remake? At this point its a lost cause.

A huge variety of sandwiches. Its friend chicken substitute for meat is most popular. The place has uneven crowd/rush - mostly for pick up as its not great for a dine-in experience. Its like any fast-food restaurant rather than a dine-in one. Definitely must try place.

I ordered the Tangerine girl sandwich. It was okay. The bread and sauce were way too sweet for my liking, and the sandwich was drenched in sauce. For a sandwich composed of cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and cheese, it definitely was not worth $11.52. Their menu said the sandwich was ~$9, but the cashier rung it up to be $11.52 + tip. Apparently, they’re in the process of adjusting their menu prices at the Berkeley location. I won’t be going back.

Place is super busy, food is pretty good, but kind of expensive. I would say better than subway, but $$$$$$$. Also, with hooked app 2 for 1 footlong at subway, I have to hold sub places at a higher standard. Also my friends split a sandwich, and it was not split very well. NOTE: this is not the best ikes!!

I came in just to order a sandwich, and not one that appeared on the order wall. I ordered a turkey with bacon on a French roll, and it was good. Like it was just made, which it was. It was my first time actually visiting an Ikes, and the sandwich made the visit worthwhile.

If I would have to describe Ikes in two words, I would say its just okay. Something about their sandwiches results in a strange aftertaste, and I dont particularly enjoy their dutch bread. Generally, Ive never found myself satisfied after visiting Ikes, but I do acknowledge that there are people who enjoy their new take on a sub-sandwich. Their employees are always perfectly nice, and the location is great, I just dont like their food.

Service there is remarkable, and servers are caring! The environment is great for sitting down and relaxing for a few minutes. The quality of the sandwiches are not fancy, but that doesnt take away from the myriad of meats with varying flavors for different preferences. However, they have more than just meats, so there is that (you can check the menu via photos from the interior or online). Overall, I really enjoy going here after my first class of the day to just eat good a sandwich of my choice and relax!

Food was very delicious, the chicken was well cooked, bread was tasty and soft, and the sauces complimented the sandwich extremely well. However, I do have a few complaints: the wait times were a little excessive for a sandwich place, the price is a little on the higher end as well, and even though I asked for jalapeno poppers they were not included. Overall I would most definitely return.

3 stars cause Service was super slow, since they only had Two workers, students show ur ID and get a discount, bathrooms needed a lil TLC, but it’s useable. They should do a better job with their hand washing policy, didn’t like that they Answer phones and handle money, while working, to their credit they do change out gloves when asked, but that never looks good. With only two workers it took a bit for my 4 sandwiches, then they only made three of my four sandwiches had to go back and show my receipt, I would prefer another location for sure… my sandwiches was good, and I left a 20% tip. Most ppl seem to buss their in tables which I’m great with, it made it a lot cleaner inside.If you haven’t had an Ike’s sandwich, you are truly truly missing out! Matt Cain is always the go to, but since I gave up Meat for a while, I did the Meatless mike and the vegetarian Somthing artichoke and mushrooms on it yum yum.

Mobile Order quoted me 25 minutes but they had it ready for me in 15 minutes. Absolutely love their sandwiches and service! This time, I got the Hunter Pence with some modifications and they STILL got it assembled and packaged for me early. They do a fantastic job and the sandwich was delicious as usual. You can’t beat their Dutch Crunch bread and their “dirty sauce.” I always get the Leninade to wash it down. Nothing better on a hot day!

Sandwiches were absolutely delicious and the service was blinding fast! I had gotten the Shattuck street sandwich, very tasty and I had a huge variety of choices for myself.The restaurant had a bathroom and plenty of seating. The staff were very attentive and hardworking, and the serving sizes and portions were huge!Id highly recommend coming here to stop by for a quick bite that will leave you satisfied.

Pretty good sandwiches, but the price is a bit too high.Main complaint is that they add a mandatory automatic tip to your order. To have them not add this, you have to tell the worker who is about to make your sandwich to remove the tip that they automatically add. This is in very poor taste. I would tip after if the sandwich is good - not before its even made!Until this is changed, I wont be coming back.

Love Ikes sandwiches.The food here tastes just as great as every other location that I have been to, but the service here is probably the worst.First time I was here, they forgot to make my sandwich. Was waiting for awhile before inquiring and they acted like nothing was wrong. In fact, they were giving me attitude about it when I told them what the order was and that I had wanted all the toppings on it. No apologies or anything.Second time, ordered ahead of time to make sure that didnt happen. I arrived at the estimated time, and they have not even begun making the sandwiches. When I let the cashier know, he said oh let the sandwich makers know youre here to pick up. When I did that, they started to make my sandwich then, putting me way behind in the line of the other people who had ordered. No apologies again.VERY unprofessional staff members here.If the location wasnt so convenient and the food good I would never come back. But itll be rare that I would want to waste my time waiting here.

I come to Ikes for its excellent variety of vegetarian and vegan sandwiches. I especially like the Meatless Mike vegan meatball sandwich, and the Green Goblin, with vegan turkey, barbeque sauce, and cheddar. You can get almost any of the meat sandwiches vegetarian too. Just substitute vegan meats. Ikes also offers vegan cheeses. I highly recommend the Dutch Crunch bread, though there are other choices, including gluten-free. The sandwiches are large enough that youll have enough for two meals, though I wouldnt blame anyone who wanted to eat the whole thing at once.To avoid the wait, especially at lunch, call in your order ahead or better yet, use the free app.

I tried to order a Philadelphia cheese steak, because the menu said if you dont see your favorite feel free to order it. He told me no, walked away, then helped the person in line behind me as I waited. Told me he could make me a custom Philly cheese steak but it was going to be more expensive than the ones on the menu costing 10.00$ I dont mind the price but service was horrible.

Echoing some of the other reviews. Lots of waiting involved. From ordering to picking up orders. Chicken was on the dry side. Sandwich wasnt fully cut meaning I had to rip the bottom half of the sandwich. Sauce is amazing and that was pretty much the only redeeming quality.

As someone who used to work for a sub shop with a conveyer belt toaster for years, this was 💯 the worst sub Ive ever had. First, I ordered no tomato, add pickles and jalapeños - I got my sub after waiting 10 minutes WITH tomato, and only one SINGLE jalapeño in the entire sub, let alone parts of my tomatoes were green, as in under-ripe. Moreover, my sub must have been sitting around as I waited and the toasting time overly rushed; the cheese wasnt melted at all and the whole sub was soggy and lukewarm by the time I took my first bite. This was my first time at an Ikes Sandwiches and it will definitely be my last; especially since when I came in they had only 1 person ahead of me and those working had no customer service skills to speak of - the field is CUSTOMER service, you serve the customer. I didnt even bother trying to take my sub back; I didnt want to wait another 10 minutes to get another soggy, ill-prepared sub.

If you want ikes, go to Oakland, where you will consistently receive quality sandwiches made to real ikes standards. Not the speediest sandwich place, but its worth the wait! They put time into crafting your sandwich.... its not just a bunch of pre sliced cold cuts slapped on bread. They have a big selection of sandwiches, so take your time to look through the menu. My son swears by the 3030 Curry Sandwich. Plus, hes a Steph Curry fan. I loved my HB, Harrison Barnes sandwich! For a sandwich shop its pretty awesome. They pack on the meat and the rest of what you pick is perfectly balanced. A sammie big enough for two, or one Sumo Wrestler. Well, Sumo may want 3 or 4, but the fact remains that this is a generous portion. Great flavor combos and something for everyone on the menu. If youre a carnivor, omnivore, herbivore or vegan, youll be able to satisfy the ol hunger pains. Maybe start a self enduced food coma! They are pricy and I cant see doing this every day or often. My sandwich was $11 before drink or chips. This is my go to for movie food. Easy to sneek in, not too messy to eat and a healthier choice than what the theaters offer.

Absolutely stingiest ikes when it comes to toppings. I usually go to the rockridge or downtown oakland location but gave this one a shot. Ordered an Adam Richman and it had 1 and a half pieces of fried chicken and almost no ham. Look up photos of the sandwich, they didnt order it from here!

In Berkeley for the Book Festival, we needed a quick place to refuel between events and Ikes fit the bill very nicely. Ikes has a very quirky and fun menu with items named for local (?) celebrities along with other evocative sobriquets. The sandwiches are hoagies (hoagies are wider than submarine sandwiches, right?) about 8 and thickly stacked, so my sandwich was good for lunch and a substantial snack later, even if it was no longer hot (all sandwiches are by default served hot temperature-wise).

The girl who took my order she was not being attention at all. I told her the number of my order 3 times and she still put it wrong I realized that when my order appeared on the screen even after I corrected it to her 2 times. She did not fix it and I asked her again while she was asking me about my name. I told her this is not what I ordered and I want this. The location literally cannot be beat: It is right on the entrance of Berkeley BART.I was on a diet, but this Ikes stares into my soul every afternoon when I get off of Berkeley BART to go home. Sigh, Not again I tell myself. My mind heads towards my home, but my body lands me inside the Ikes, once again.
