Everybody loves Ikes Love Sandwiches...everybody!So after I dropped off the Flamethrower and extra tanks of napalm to my pal Honipus Jones up there on Broadway Terrace I headed straight there for one of those famous footlong hot ham and cheese on a french baguette....Man-O-Man was it good! 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

It was hard choosing a sandwich from the many eye-catching options listed on the menu — some with an Asian twist. Creative, California deli sandwiches at their best.Grabbed a sandwich in the morning, to enjoy on a hike later in the day. The sandwich was not soggy, felt like it was just made. Dutch Crunch roll is a definite thumbs up. Complimentary caramel apple lollipop a nice touch.

Staying in town a couple of days on business and looking for something to eat. I stopped by to grab a sandwich, asked how big they are and saw they are on the small side - see photo.I asked if they do half sandwiches and, no, so I ordered two.The photo shows one half of each sandwich I got, BTW supposedly the same sandwich.Seems too much money for a meh product and quantity, it tasted fine, but nothing special.

Definitely one of the best sandwiches in the Bay Area! Great selection of sandwiches with unique names and great flavor! Ive had the Al Bundy and the Backstabber which were both great sandwiches and plan on trying out more of their great selection of sandwiches like the Marshawn Lynch! Great selection of Zapps potato chips and a variety of drinks. You also get a caramel apple lollipop!

They have some many good sandwiches it amazing. I love the Marshawn Lynch, Al Davis and Matt Cain. The are busy at lunch but it usually only a 10 minute wait. Don’t forget to add onions, pickles, peppers or jalapeños free.

Ordered online with a 1:55 promised ready time. Showed up and order wasn’t ready. All good… waited inside a little longer, walked outside and back in a couple more times… not a word mentioned to me. After a few mins an employee noticed someone else waiting and checks up on them, then me. My order was ready but no one let me know while I was waiting in the almost empty place. I’m not the type to nag so I guess it’s on me. Real issue though - the sandwich. Chicken was a minimum, sauce was helllla sweet and way too large of a serving. Dutch crunch bread was gummy and thick. Can’t believe I’m sayin it but a Subway sandwich would’ve been more satisfying in the moment. 100% :/

They have made my sandwich right only once in the last year. I’m just done. I can’t make it any more clear what I want. Meatballs, cheese, and marina sauce. That’s all I want. Somehow I end up with mayo or salad dressing and zero marinara sauce. I have wasted probably over $100 on garbage sandwiches I couldn’t eat because they were completely wrong.Waste of time and money. Eat at one of the million other amazing places in town. Ike wont miss you bc they can’t even be bothered to make a sandwich with three ingredients correctly.Update: They even messed up my partner’s order spectacularly. 0/2. Great job!

They dont know what vegan means, if you ask if the cheese is vegan they say yes but it contains milk. And they also put sauces that contain egg on sandwiches that they tell you are fully vegan

Yes, this is the best sandwich spot in the Bay Area, dare I say in California, dare I say in the U.S. I love Ikes and I love this location. I always bring my dog and tie him up outside. Love the friendly service, the music playing, the freshness of the ingredients.My top faves are on the amazing dutch crunch:The Bakesale -American cheese, chicken fried chicken, choice of sauce (red pesto is great)Pizzle -Bacon, Cheddar, Halal Chicken (Substitute for fried chicken), RanchMenage A Trois-BBQ, Cheddar, Halal Chicken (substitute for fried chicken), Honey Mustard, Pepper Jack, Real Honey, SwissYes, anything with fried chicken! haDont forget the in store menus only show a limited amount of sandwiches. Look online for those hidden gem sandwiches. These sandwiches are huge, I can only finish half, so it ends up being a great second lunch. Make sure you get some Zappos chips, the Voodoo ones are my fav, salty and sweet. Oh yes, and a free caramel apple with your sandwich.

Ikes may have the best sandwiches in the whole bay area. I would most definitely give them the best sandwiches in downtown Oakland. The pricing is very reasonable. I think I may have been there twice in one week. I loved it, my friends loved it as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes a good meal. I liked the fun names they have for their subs. Got a Barry Z last time I went, thats short for a Turkey and Avocado. Its a good idea to call ahead, because they l theyre pretty popular. Gets busy really fast in there and theres no where to sit. Everything is to go. Check this place out or youll be missing out. Enjoy.

Im not exaggerating, this is the worst sandwich place Ive ever been to. Ive been to Ikes in the city and they were great. I dont know if Ikes has gone downhill lately or if their corporate is even aware of whats happening at this location. First off their posted prices on their menu board are much much lower, by 1.75-3.5 per item, than the prices they charged. Is that even legal? They gave us cold soggy onion rings, stale bread on both sandwiches and one sandwich that only had meat on half. We could have gone to whole foods but I remembered Ikes being good, but the flavors are forgettable. Itd be whatever if it wasnt $50 for two people.

Not the cleanest place I have been... I ordered a Reuben sandwich... expensive.... They didnt have rye bread and you couldnt tell what you were eating.... They either tried to sneak dairy into both of my vegan sandwiches and expected me to not notice or they are so overworked they didnt notice what they were doing but either way its always something. This Ikes location is slower than some of the others Ive been to. But the staff is friendly enough and I know they do their best. They gave me a couple extra lollipops when the wait was kind of long at my last visit. Its very small and only two or three people can be there at a time while maintaining social distancing. When I tried ordering from Door Dash, my favorite sandwich, the Madison Baumgartner, wasnt available as an option. I called them to ask if I can pay for a different one from Door Dash but have them make the MB. I called 4x without any answer before I gave up. I gave 3 stars for the consistently slow service and the MB sandwich no longer being available on Door Dash. If you have time to wait and youre not in a hurry, youre going to get a really tasty sandwich!

Excellent sandwich, but very slow. After I had paid, they informed me it would be 15-20 minutes. I wish I hadnt ordered. It ended up taking about 30 minutes. This is not a quick lunch place. Your best bet is to order online 30-40 minutes in advance if you like Ikes sandwiches.

I had the Cheese Steak with the, I believe it was Thin Sliced Ribeye, mushrooms...... oh my God it was delicious. First time at Ikes and I must say I will be going back. Really hope the next location I go to will be as good as my first. Love Ikes! I love the saucy sandwiches and flavor combos. The bread is always great too. They have halal chicken if youre particular about the meat. The ingredients are quality and it has become a staple for sandwiches. Yes, theres a long wait, and this location has very limited outside seating, but definitely worth it. Feeling very hungry and limited on time I made a quick stop at Ikes Place while walking nearby. The prices were a bit high for a sandwich places, but I just picked something simple. I ordered the Purple Bs Veggie CA-BLT which had avocado, cheese, lettuce, tomato and veggie bacon. I will be honest and say it was good, but I felt it could have used a kick. Bad: Can be like 20 min to get food, with limited seating. Since it is so busy, the service gets kinda slow. Just bought for dinner tonight, 8/25/2020 ~6:45 p.m.. My Home for Thanksgiving sandwich was 1 out of 5 stars. Used to be my favorite, but was made with tasteless deli turkey and not real turkey. And not enough if it at that. I was left with a sandwich with about 1/3 with no meat, just extra stuff. Also, their phone number just has a consistent busy signal. These 9-10 inch subs are about$10. Great quality and taste. The Dutch crunch bread is fantastic but gets soggy if you have to take it home, so eat it there (maybe it can be toasted). It can get too crowded to eat at the outside tables (they need more) but if you get there early enough and the weather is good, its wonderful.

I stop by the Rockridge/Oakland shop about once a month. I always get great service with a smile. Good prices and excellent food. Every time Ive been there they always give their best. Shared the Spiffy Tiffy with my partner (halal chicken with pesto and a bunch of other toppings), and it was delicious! It was a big sandwich, so it was reasonable to share with someone. 4 stars for the wait; we ordered our sandwich online at noon, they said it would be ready by 12:30, and we finally received our sandwich at 12:45. A friend was raving about this place, but I knew for sure from his stories that I have to try it. It really didnt disappoint. Dont plan to eat at the shop though because they dont have any seats. Takeaway orders only, or you can sit at the side benches that people usually sit for waiting for their orders. I forgot what I ordered but I remember it was delicious. Been going to Ikes for years since their first store at Stanford. Follow them on social media as well.The wait at lunch can be a bit long and they dont make sandwiches too quickly. And this is coming from a person who has waited at Ikes plenty of times before.Nonetheless there is a reason for that--good sandwiches. Ask for extra dirty sauce for some deeper, more Ikey flavors (youre welcome).

This Ikes is just as good as the others Ive visited in SF and Redwood City. Dont be discouraged by the lines out the door during lunch, because they do take orders quickly. I enjoyed their Hot Momma Huda, which Ill admit is a mess to eat with the mixture of Franks Hot Sauce and their own special Dirty Sauce dripping all over the place. Good thing they provided napkins!

I used to go to Ikes in the City, the hole-in-the-wall in the Castro. It was a very good place to get a big sandwich.The expansion has brought with it too many cute choices, a reduction in quality, a seeming disinterest in bringing any brightness to the flavors, and the same long lines.Its OK is perfect. I dont understand why local hipsters line up in large numbers there everyday at lunch, but then there;s so much I dont understand. It just seems like the place to grab a sandwich, where your co-workers will be, and you arent very demanding about food. What is called in restaurant vernacular as a scene. This doesnt necessarily imply quality, just popularity, for the moment.Im glad Ikes was confident enough to open in Oakland, and that they fill a niche, although not very well, but its not my lunch spot, and anything with halal (shreded) chicken mush should be avoided. Weird texture, no tooth, and an awkward blend of spices, and who can tell how long its been stewing, but certainly long enough to remove the poultry flavors and texture.So, Ikes has great potential and a bit of humor and imagination, but they have stumbled on a successful (if middling) formula, so why change?

Wow! Just Wow! Took me a while to catch my husbands attention to get him to try this highly rated place. Finally, we decided we were trying it. The menu is fantastic, the service is fast (self serve at the counter) and staff is friendly. Whats the best part? They have a great vegetarian and vegan option - Kudos!!! We shared the Chippers Fave which came with tuna and avocado and the The Jeremy Stoppelman which had breaded eggplant-green pesto-habanero-tomatoes and provolone - we had both our sandwiches on the dutch crunch bread options. So many amazing bread options too. Now in a normal situation, everyone would think the tuna was the best one? Think again. My veg option was amazing!!! The tuna was great too but as any tuna sandwich it gets to you towards the end cause it is so heavy but oh so yummy though. We had half of each others and had half of our own order so both of us were able to finish 2 sandwiches but they were pretty big ones so if youre not really hungry then be ready to take leftovers, depending how heavy your sandwich is. You can always tell them to go easy on the toppings like mayo etc which definitely makes it heavy. But oh so fabulous. Had a big issue with their broadway location in Oakland. It is notoriously slow - used their APP to make an order 30 minutes ahead of time. When I arrived they said it would be another 30 minute wait due to catering orders that had piled up. People at the register we’re completely unhelpful and had no idea how to cancel my order. First, Im taking my precious 10 last minutes of my lunch break to share this.Second, I want to say that this comment is more about customer service and not the food, which includes fresh veggies (cant say about the meats), made to order and interesting inventions that Ive enjoyed.I went in at 2:30 on a weekday, which is way after the lunch rush. There were already people waiting, but I ordered anyways. I noticed there were 6 people behind the counter: then something like 3 people that looked like the owners showed up and walked right into the sandwich assembly area and began to dance and converse with the people working. Mind you Ive already been waiting for ten mins at this point, for a 3 ingredient sandwich, not toasted. Then more people came out of the back and left, as the people in the assembly line were casually with no sense of urgency were chatting, discussing the quality of the music and weather while walking around with half assembled open faced sandwiches.I got mine 20 mins later and Ive decided its not worth eleven dollars or my time.Good luck

Sandwiches here are really good. If you check my reviews, I wrote that Luccas in South SF has the best sandwiches hands down. But coming from Oakland, its really too far. Ikes more than provides relief for any sandwich cravings one may have. I ordered a GS WARRIOR through DoorDash and when the sandwich arrived, there was no lettuce, tomato, or avocado. The avocado basically makes the sandwich complete. At the location in Oakland, however, not only did they leave on the mayo but the chicken was doused in teriyaki to the point where the sandwich was unedible.
