This place is consistently the BEST sandwhich spot.. for months.. and months… Never a flop coming here. I’ve been to other Ike’s.. everywhere across the bay. And THIS ONE out-sandwhiches all of them!!!! I talk this place up big time. Staff is dope too!! Absolutely cannot go to SC without hitting Ike’s to or from 🙌🏻

Ikes is the best sandwich place around. They make really great sandwiches and the prices are okay. Honestly sometimes the sandwiches can be hit or miss, and the sandwich I had here was pretty average, but typically I love their sandwiches. Their soda machine and bathroom were out of order which sucked, and we had to swap our bread out because they ran out. Overall good.

I’ve been a big fan of Ike’s sandwiches for many years now. During undergrad at UCSC, my friends and I would drive all the way over highway 17 to Santa Clara for these sandwiches! So I was incredibly excited when I saw that Ike’s opened in Santa Cruz a few years back! I’ve been to this location many times and have always been impressed with the quality of their food and the great customer service from the folks working in the store. I recommend the Julius Caesar, Matt Cain, & Adam Richman sandwiches!

I dont usually leave reviews so when I say Ikes delivers some of the best sandwiches, I mean it. I always order the Elvis Keith, a simple but delicious sandwich. Service is fast and prices are fair. I always make sure to get at least two whole sandwiches to bring back to the hotel room, theyre that good. (Dont have a photo to share, I ate my sandwich)

Missing items. They redid it. But it was gross. Kept adding what was missing. Bread was dutch crunch which is normally my favorite bread. But the Dutch feel apart and was doughy tasting and sweet on top. But like no crunch. Overall not my bag. But I may have just ordered the wrong thing.

Very good sandwiches with unique flavors. These arent just the same types of hot sandwiches you see at every other sandwich shop, they combine ingredients in ways I havent seen before that yield interesting results (who knew pesto, guacamole, and honey would work?). The sandwiches are huge though, so prepare to have a large appetite. We have never had problems with wait times though

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile and was very excited. The staff was very busy with online orders so they didnt pay much attention to me. I had to figure out what to get and having never been here I wasnt sure what was best. I ended up just creating my own turkey sandwich. It was good but not as delicious as I was expecting. Maybe if I had gotten bacon it would have helped. I may give it one more shot and see if I can get a better sandwich. I would still recommend if you wanna have an extravagant sandwich.

Absolutely great tuna fish sandwich on a really good sourdough roll. For vegetarians they have turkey vegan substitutes and chicken vegan substitutes and vegetable sandwiches. The tuna fish is a teeny bit pricey at 12.95 but I only ate half of it so I had two meals out of it. The only reason I gave it for instead of five stars is it doesnt feel that great inside the store. We didnt want to eat there so took the food home. Its not that its not clean or anything like that - I think its the colors and there is nothing cozy or inviting about it

Ordered online at 4:45pm, realized 2 mins later that I accidentally ordered at the Santa Cruz location instead of the Santa Clara location (slipped down one location when ordering online). Tried to call two minutes after placing order to cancel order. No one answered the phone for over an hour (still no answer an hour later, as of the writing of this review).Will reach out to corporate as I shouldn’t be charged for this. Also, arrived at Santa Clara location and was going to order in person. Website, google, yelp and all say they are a open, but they are in fact closed with a handwritten sign on the door.Guess there won’t be any Ike’s today.Will be reaching out to Ike’s corporate about Santa Cruz location not answering for over an hour. If they had picked up they would never have made the sandwich and I shouldn’t be charged.UPDATE:Ike‘s corporate reaches out in response to this review and refunded me for the sandwich, in an effort to make it right.I do love Ike‘s sandwiches and have been a fan for years, but just not picking up the phone and then leaving it off the hook isn’t cool. Hoping this was a one-off experience. They do make some great sandwiches.

Inconsistent. Ive ordered a sandwich here 3 times (aint nothing but a mr g thing - bacon, mushrooms, Swiss, honey). The first time it was made correctly and yummy. The second time there was hardly any bacon (which was fine) and was soggy. The third time it came with no mushrooms, no honey, and some kind of spicy peppers in it. Not sure whether to give up or try a different sandwich.....I was hoping at one point to bring my son who has food allergies here but definitely wont let him get anything from here, since making a sandwich according to the list on the board doesnt seem to happen consistently.

Love this place. My sandwich was done pretty much as soon as I sat down to wait for it. Delicious sandwiches and great bread. Only bummer is the extra charge all Ikes charge for operating in california. I cant imagine those kids were making much more than minimum wage which is so far from a livable wage. But thats the company as a whole so while their sandwiches are delicious I try not to come more than a couple times a year. Sucks to have to choose fairness and livable wages over great sandwiches.

Very friendly staff, I had tried to use the restroom at the habit grill and was refused even after telling them I was ordering. When I walked into ikes and asked they had no problem with letting me use it, before ordering. My stomach was upset so I couldnt order anything at the time. But I look forward to my next visit there as the menu looked great and the staff was very welcoming. On those merits alone I would highly recommend this eatery. Its very clean with a nice atmosphere. Expansive, delectable, savory and satisfying sandwiches for vegetarians/vegans and carnivores alike! A great spot for mixed diet groups where veggie and meat options are equally awesome. My new fave spot when I need a good veggie junk food fix. SO many choices youll be inspired to visit often. (I love the Adrian Rich with veggie chicken and onion rings added! Holy veggie cow! Yum.) I introduced Ike’s to my husband whose never lived in the Bay Area and never had one of these and he said the meatless Mike is the best sandwich he’s ever had. And he wasn’t kidding. We had Ike’s twice in a row, both ordering full sandwiches while staying 4 days in Santa Cruz. The actual sandwich was great! However, as a first time visitor, there’s no explanation of the different types of bread. The guy working the register retied his man-bun twice while I was looking at the menu then put sandwiches in bags all without washing his hands. My order took long enough for me to use the restroom and answer a call from my Mother (that’s too long especially with the amount of people they had working).

Dont be fooled by the higher reviews on here. If you have never been to an Ikes you would probably agree with them because they still make cool out of the ordinary sandwiches and have a friendly staff.The good part stops there. I have been going to Ikes all over northern California for many years, since they only had 2 locations in SF and a hole in the wall in an office building in Redwood Shores. Ive been to SF Redwood City, San Jose, Danville, Walnut Creek and Davis Ikes. The Ikes in Santa Cruz does not live up to the reputation that Ike established for his food. They have e screwed up multiple sandwiches on multiple trips and just the other day they gave me dutch crunch that was so poorly made it might as well have been a thick sourdough roll. If you want good Ikes go to San Jose or Redwood City but steer clear away from this location. If you want a sandwich just go downtown or go next door to The Habit which is top quality.

Perfecting a sandwich isnt as easy as it looks. Flavors need to work together, the ratio of sauce/ mayo to ingredients is paramount, and the whole thing needs to remain intact for the entire consumption period. Granted, Ikes has some interesting combos and their sandwiches are freshly made, but the sandwich I shared with my wife (the fried chicken) was overly sugary and dripping with sauce. I would give them another try with a more traditional sandwich, but this first try was a miss for me.

This is the worst Ikes I have ever been too!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS LOCATION! !!!! We love Ikes and we so excited when they came to Santa Cruz but we have given them numerous chances and they consistently screw up!!!! They either do not understand the meaning of the word VEGAN or they do not care. Every time we order the same sandwiches with the same instructions (because we do not trust them after the first sandwich) and everytime we get different sandwiches... My husbands is never VEGAN they add ranch sauce everytime and mine they never put the right vegetables on it and Thus time they put real cheese... Why bother having posters everywhere saying to just ask to make it Vegan if you are either going to hire staff that dont care enough to make the sandwiches right or you will not train them properly to do their job! I WOULD AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COST!!! GO TO ANY OTHER IKES DO NOT GIVE THIS LOCATION YOUR MONEY!!! I know some will read this and think I am not vegan it does not matter to me... I parked in their lot and found the doors locked. I walked around the building and found one unlocked door. I asked the masked teen behind the counter why the door facing the parking lot was locked. He responded and I quote Because reasons. I asked Would make more sense to have the door facing where the customer would be parking and trying to walk in open? I was then ignored while standing at the register for 5 minutes. I went next door to The Habit, I was greeted when I walked in the door, and am now enjoying an amazing burger. That is the last time I will ever be going to Ikes in Santa Cruz.

My husband and I always order from Ikes through doordash, but my husband keeps getting emails saying that if we order through the ikes app, we would get free delivery. He went on and ordered but it wouldnt process and he got a text saying it was cancelled. we were kind of frustrated but just ordered through doordash instead like we normally do. But then he got an email confirming his ikes app order and I was charged for both. We called Ikes to tell them what happened and they just said they received both orders and they they were both ready and there was nothing they could do. The girl told us to cancel through the app, but we couldnt find an option and she put her manager on saying I was yelling at her. He told me the same thing, You have to cancel on your end theres nothing we can do. I just kept talking over me and cutting me off when I tried to explain I was charged for both but I ended up just cancelling our doordash order instead. I still have both orders charged to me, I received my doordash order for some reason still (even though doordash was my name and ikes.com was my husbands name). so im sitting here with a $60 charge for a couple of sandwiches and the manager essentially told me too bad.
