I’m not sure how this is only four stars. It’s awesome Indian food with very good prices and great service. I went late at night close to their closing time and they still seated us and served us the full menu. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious.

This place is awesome. Great decor and service. Food is amazing, authentic, and freshly made. Doesn’t get much better than this.I had the spicy chicken coconut curry, rice, naan bread, raita, as well as a salad and vegetable samosa for appetizer. Everything was so delicious. You have to try this place.

Good food and convinient timing-Open late night till 11pm most days-We went for spice level medium and was good enough without bland.-Gobi Manchurian was slightly undercoated and more like cauliflower fry but still tasted good, naan was not bready but like thin indian naan which i personally prefer.-server was polite n very helpful

First time trying this restaurant unbelievable samosas the lam samosas is the one on the bottom and the photo and the potato samosa is the one on the top the tikka masala was very delicious and so was it naan. Ill be back when I have a taste yum! yum!

This restaurant was delightful. A longtime friend, who was visiting from TX, and I decided to go to dinner at this restaurant by recommendation of my friends friends, who own & run Green Man, across the street. The food was very, very good, and plentiful enough to take leftovers home. The wait staff were very helpful and sweet, but I didnt like when I could smell that the waiter had gone out for a cigarette, and come back in, I could smell the cigarette smoke on him, even if he was at a table that was two tables away from us. Regardless, I found that the temperature was perfect in there, not too cold & not hot. And it was really sweet that they let us sit in there for a long time, maybe three hours, visiting and catching up on the past three years since the last time we saw each other, since he moved.

We found our Valley spot for Indian food! This place is the real deal for authentic Indian cuisine. The servers were gracious and kind. The garlic naan was fire. The mango lassi ( mango smoothie) was on point. Plenty of vegetarian options, and the dinner for two was reasonably priced. Im coming back soon to try the rest of the menu.

Strange / they had decent reviews so I thought Id take a jab at it - ( although a lot of places in the area bribe for reviews )I ordered two diff types of soup / a mixed kabab platter - a specialty rice - appetizer puffs and bread ( in other words gave them plenty opportunity to impress me ) and I just didnt like it / neither did my fiancéThe portion of meat is very small for the price / I could put all the meat on one kebab stick - and the lamb and steak was dry as if it wasnt cooked the same DAY

If I could give negative stars I would. Not only is this not good Indian food, its not good food, period.We ordered samosas, few curries, and naan. I cant wait to eat here when things often back up The food is delicious and the vegetarian dinner for 2 keeps me going for days. They keep the spiciness dialed way down, so if you want a little bite, I recommend asking for spicy/ hot. Medium has no heat. Usually I wouldnt be that interested with mild, but their flavoring is rich and delicious, so even with no heat, its quite delicious.

There is a reason why Indias Clay Pit has over 4 stars. They offer exceptional food and service. My wife and I visit the restaurant at least once a week. We have tried various dishes at this restaurant and every one of them was absolutely delicious.Even the best restaurants receive some negative reviews from time-to-time. It is impossible to please everyone. However, if you read the majority of the reviews, you will see that many customers really enjoy coming to this restaurant because the employees make you feel like family and they offer tasty, authentic Indian cuisine.Despite one review I read that accused the employees of discrimination, I can assure you that no one at Indias Clay Pit discriminates against anybody, regardless of ones ethnic background or faith. They love to greet their customers and genuinely enjoy getting to know them.

On October 1, 2021 I had the worst dining experience that I have ever had. Took a friend for some Chicken Tiki Masala. We were asked to seat ourselves. There were only 5 seated tables in the entire restaurant. The table beside ours was being catered to by 2 male and 1 female employees. The remaining 4 tables were being ignored. After waiting for over 10 minutes without anyone coming to our table we decided to leave. The younger male employee told the much older employee to come and wait on our table. We should have just left but decided to stay. The service was horrible. The only person waiting on the tables was the older waiter. He was also the only one taking phone orders and ringing up to go orders. Our samosas were quickly brought out. The were mostly pastry and were not heated. I tried to get someones attention but the waiter didnt leave the bar area and the other 2 employees were too focused on serving the table beside us to notice. Also our drink order was never brought. I had to ask for our drink order when the Tiki Masala was brought. At no point in the meal did anyone come to see how we were doing or ask if we needed anything. The Chicken Tiki Masala was quite bland and mediocre. When we decided to cut our loses and leave, the waiter was no where to be found. After quite a while the younger man came to the table and asked if we needed anything. I told him the we have been waiting for quite a while to pay the check. He said the waiter was on his break. I asked him if he was the owner or manager because of the horrible experience we had. He told me that he worked in the kitchen and there was no manager working. Also instead of an apology or acknowledgement he got very defensive. He said the table getting all the attention were his parents and somehow he took my complaint as an insult to his parents. He actually began yelling at me in the dining room so I yelled back at him. I guess only family members deserve good service and respect at this restaurant. If you want horrible, horrible service, mediocre food, and delusional incompetent employees yelling at you this is the place.

I had their lunch special....i chose the curry lentils which were very flavorful. The portions were huge for a lunch special. Not crowded but very good I down food. The server was very attentive, I never had to ask for a drink refill. Great food. The curry chicken dish 7am a cart was my favorite. Chicken was juicy and tender plus the curry sauce was killer. ...Naan was made with flour....which is different but still good.

Amazing service, wonderful food, and u get to choose the level of spicy. I chose medium+, which was almost too hot for me, but i loved it. Get the dinner platter and u get served a variety of non(s), soup or salad, an entree with plenty of veggie options, AND a dessert (got the mango ice cream) ALL for roughly $20/ plate!!! I couldnt finish and ate mine for dinner the next day. And did i mention the AWESOME service?!?

If I could give zero stars I would. The lady that attended us was not welcoming at all, she seemed to be in a bad mood. We still ordered our food and she told us she would call us when the food was ready. Over 20 minutes passed so we decided to go inside and see what was going on just to see our food sitting on the table and the lady on her phone. Didn’t bother to call us. After being recommended I decided to try it. Tip: if a restaurant has Groupon more likely than not it’s not good. It’s my fault for just going based on the top reviews rather really reading. Like many others’ experience the girl attending the phone was rude. The naan is unlike any other naan and the dough was still wet. I ordered mild but it was very spicy. The rice smelled like cleaning products. Overall food quality is not good and as much I would like to gatekeep, I highly recommend going to LAL MIRCH. Stick to what you know.

I am very disappointed in this place. I purchased a voucher several months ago while they had a current agreement with Groupon. I planned to spend more than my voucher amount and tip generously on my take out order. On my first visit where I phoned in a take out order, they said I couldnt use my voucher on take out orders wasting myself a trip. A couple weeks later, I called ahead to reserve a dine in spot. Mind you, when I arrived on both occasions, the restaurant was completely empty. After spending over an hour to get to the restaurant, the staff said I couldnt use my voucher for dine in and claimed they had pulled out of their agreement with Groupon, but the timeline shows that they pulled out after I had purchased my voucher.What difference does it make if I do dine in or takeaway? Less dishes to clean for them, less work serving me, less risk of contracting COVID. Bunch of conflicting information and overall, a waste of time. They should have just honored their commitments. Considering they list themselves on several delivery services, if this was a financial decision, they are likely paying them a commission as well. They likely have a bunch of perishable food that will likely go bad, so not sure why they wouldnt just let me place my order. Their customer service is horrible.Youve lost a customer for life. Ill just take my business to the 30 other Indian restaurants in the area who Im sure would be happy for my business.

Grabbed a late night dinner here after flying in to town. The food is totally authentic and so absolutely delicious. The selection is extensive with plenty of vegetarian options as well. The combination dinners for 2 are a value- huge servings of multiple menu items at a low price. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very classy. The wonderful staff even treated us to a few extra deserts. My meat eaters reported the rack of lamb was to die for, while I personally was over the moon with the Tofu Marsala. This was such a treat after a long and exhausting day of traveling.

Food was fabulous. The restaurant is quite large, brightly painted with a dance floor and a few large tvs. I had the lunch special which was a generous portion and very reasonably priced. I enjoyed the saag paneer lunch special, and my friend enjoyed the chicken madras. Highly recommended. Only thing that was a slight bummer was the slow service. I will be back, but I will allow myself more time to dine.

We ordered fish pakora and other dishes, unfortunately the meal was very disappointing. The fish had no salt spicy or flavor. Wonderful neighborhood spot. Spacious, clean restaurant. Perfect for large parties or an intimate dinner for two. The food is delicious- had the dinner combination for 2 with samosas, chicken tandoori, your choice of a veggie and chicken or lamb entree, naan, rice, and desert! Perfect for 2 with some leftovers for the next day. We had the lamb tikka masala. Im not usually a fan of lamb, but this dish was delicious! The pieces were tender and didnt have that gamey/stale taste that you traditionally get with lamb. The food gets it to 4 stars, but the wait staff take it to 5 starts and beyond! They are so friendly, patient, and helpful to provide recommendations. Theyre the type of people you become friends with and want to see them regularly at your neighborhood restaurant! Definitely coming back!

Ive been bragging to my friend about this place for a while and decided to break down and spend the money to have a delivery and we would split it. Things are tight in this was a splurge. $28 later I had eight pieces little pieces that is of lamb tiki and some Naan. No no rice nothing else that was it. It did not say in the menu that was à la carte and it usually comes with a few little sides. I called up to ask her what was going on and she said thats the way it is now. Cold day in hell before I ever spend a dime there and it was my favorite Indian food.

I really craving Indian food and drove 7 miles just to satisfy this craving. They close from 3pm to 5pm (odd I agree) and I arrived at 2:45pm. They said the kitchen was closing but the lovely lady made an exception and let us sit. Beware, this seemed like not the norm.The food: Chicken Tika Masala- only okay. The chicken curry was awesome (maybe the best Ive had). We went there in Thursday evening. The place was literally empty. We ordered a couple of dinner combos (Dal and Chicken Tikka). The food was horrible. Salad tasted stale. Dal didnt have any salt in it. Rice looked and tasted weeks old. Chicken in Chicken Tikka was very stiff. Naan was not properly cooked and had patches of uncooked dough. The kulfi that we had last tasted below average. In short everything tasted old and burnt.Would give lower rating if I could.

My spouse and I had a very unpleasant experience at Indias Clay Pit, North Hollywood on Friday May 10th, 2019. We arrived at the restaurant at around 12 noon, and were the only patrons in the restaurant at the time. We ordered two lunch specials within a minute or two of being seated. We were told by the server that our food would arrive within 20 minutes.About 20 minutes passed with no sign of our food or our server. A lady arrived and went straight to the counter to place an order for Take-away. The busboy who had poured us water earlier came out of the kitchen and took her order. We heard her placing her order. Another couple arrived and was seated at the table beside us. Again, the same busboy came out and took her order. We heard them placing their order. Another ten minutes passed. There was no sign of our server.Around 12.30, a person who appeared to be one of the chefs, wearing a dirty full-length apron, came out of the kitchen with two soup bowls, went directly to the couple beside us and served them. About five minutes later, he brought them their lunch specials. Still no sign of our food. The lady at the counter received her take away order and left.Finally, at around 12.45, our orders arrived. They were brought by the same chef in the apron. When we inquired about the delay, he said the other patrons had to be served first. We were taken aback at his answer. He was very brusque and bordering on rudeness. He said quite clearly that since they were different customers, they had to be served first. We pointed out that we had arrived before them and waited a full 20 minutes without receiving our order and there were no other customers at the time. He said it was because of the way we looked.At this point, I should mention that we are both brown, South Asian people. The lady who came for take-out and the other couple at the next table all appeared to be white, Caucasian, and spoke in American accents. So you can imagine our shock when we were given these reasons and treated quite rudely by the server/chef. When the bill was presented and we paid - I tipped out of habit, since it is my practice to be considerate - he again began talking to us unprovoked, saying that the other people were more important because they were different and the restaurant would always give them preferential treatment over people like us. I asked him what he meant by people like us. After all, he too was brown, and South Asian appearing like us. He said it was obvious and turned away.He refused to give his name when asked. The descriptions above and his behavior are the only things I have to report. We are still quite shocked and horrified that we could be discriminated against so openly and boldly in a place of business in California, United States. Is this legal? Can non-white people be served later or denied service only because of their race or skin color? Is this permissible business practice in America? Weve lived here four years and are permanent residents (Green Card holders) but this is the first time weve experienced such blatant racism (I have no other word to describe it).I am deeply disappointed in the management and ownership of Indias Clay Pit, especially since we have been regulars here at this restaurant for over a year. The usual server is extremely polite, well-mannered and treats us the same as any other customer, white or otherwise. But this particular experience was deeply unpleasant and clearly displayed the bias of the kitchen staff and other supporting staff. Is it ignorance or deliberate bigotry? The worst food and the horrible experience I had with the waitress/manager. She was wearing glasses and had a bob cut, don’t know what’s her name though. Initially we ordered soup and asked her to make it spicy. After tasting the soup, we let her know that it was not spicy. Then she came with a sause (chili powder mixed with oil) and told us go crazy. Then we let her know could please make the curries spicy. She literally brought curry mixed with chili powder. When I had my first bite of the curry, I was coughing non-stop and had tears. And the naan was burnt, the second set of naans were like paper without butter (we ordered butternaan). When we asked her about naan, she agreed that was those are not butternaan and after that, she was literally laughing at us with her co-workers (we were literally able to see them). When we asked them to call chef, we want to discuss with him, they were saying talk to owner. When asked to call owner, gave the business card. In reverse she was saying we never had complaints like this, ours is perfect Indian food. This is the worst customer experience I ever had till now.
