It was bad. I mean I know prices are high on stuff. But not even 5 pieces of chicken w the curry it came cold. My friend went to grab it and ordered it there and it was cold 10 min later when he arrived his ramen was stuck together and over cooked he paid extra for chicken in his ramen, not one bite. Last off the shrimp roll was tiny. There is a first and a last time for everything.
One of the few food establishments that open very late with great food. They are open to 4am. The quality and service was very good. I definitely recommend to try the food anytime they are open especially the Ramen.
Spicy crazy Ramen was my goto... I dont know what has happened but the quality is going down. I always take it to go so my experience might differ from others. On one order the plastic top melted into the soup idk how that happened. ( I let it slide things happen) The next time my food had a black short hair in it. Now this last time I ordered 2 spicy crazy soups and the meat was burnt on both...with hair inside one of the soups. I had to throw it out waste of money.
The Okinawa ramen was the best I ever had. The tiniest place ever, and the service and atmosphere were so nice. Thank you!
Teriyaki was terrible. Should take it off the menu. Waste of money. Couldnt even finish it. Lots of chunks of grizzle and fat. Had to spit out half of what I put in my mouth. Asked for spicy, but didnt get a lick of anything remotely spicy. Added my own Sriracha in order to get the food down without vomiting. This is coming from one of the least picky people you could ever meet. Seriously, Id eat dirt if it was seasoned right; and would prefer dirt over this pile of sh**.
Ordered Isa Ramen, it comes with a braised egg, chashu, bean sprouts and pickled ginger. The broth was flavorful and the noodles was springy, one of the better ones that I have had. We also tried Sapporo Raman, I think the broth is made from red miso, but I like Isa Ramen better. The tempura udon is just common place. As we ordered combos, the ramen came with four gyozas each, a sushi roll and a salad. Overall loved the Isa Ramen, will go for it again if I have the chance.
Amazing little gem. Authentic cuisine. My girlfriend and I were craving something hot and soupy lol. I got Tokyo ramen and she got udon. It was soooooooo tasty. Delicious broth and noodles cooked to perfection. One of my fav spots in La. Their fried chicken is incredible! If you’re craving legit delicious Japanese food, without traveling to Little Tokyo, look no further.
Great for solo/2 people lunches or dinner with Japanese comfort food of rameb, udon and rice bowls. The sole japanese lady running the place is always polite and quick.
They made a custom dish for us that wasnt on the menu which was super cool. Plus everything we had was very good and authentic.Very friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere
Missing three options on there sushi menu. ( no salmon). After sitting down the waitress tells me its cash only. Didnt have enough cash, just a debit card. But as soon as I walked out, it says on the door they accept all major cards. Not sure if they didnt want to serve me because of my ethnic background or what the issue was. But they definitely wasnt interested ins serving me.
The food & service are great. The location needs a little maintenance, but its a great small, local, good comfort-food spot.Update: Seems much better maintained nowadays. Service as always, was stellar. Excellent ramen & udon. Excellent katsu & fresh California roll too!
Japanese food in a converted shack. Came here on a Friday night for dinner with a friend. There was no AC so it was a bit humid/hot inside but there’s some seating outside. The place is small but people were respectful of noise levels and you can have a good conversation. There’s top 40 music playing in the background and the place was popping considering it’s off the beaten path. The food was alright but portions were generous for the prices. Pre-tip it was $13.13 for a split check for tempura udon and beef udon (and on Friday at 13th nonetheless). The udon noodles came out quickly but the fish cakes were a bit cold. The broth also was more on the lukewarm side. The tempura udon has 3 tempura shrimps and 2 tempura shishito peppers (which have a lot of seeds in them). There is a bathroom on the right when you go outside, but it’s the white door - it’s not around the restaurant. If you go around, you’ll go to the kitchen area. There is some parking spots available and they do take credit cards (you can also split the bill). They give you a water jug for you to serve yourself which I thought was helpful.
So the place is small. 6 tables inside and a few tables on the patio outside. Its attached to a car wash and parking was easy at 2:30 am when I came. They are open to 4 am wich is great it youre looking for a late night bite. Staff is nice. Speed of service was ok. I got the veggie ramen and added an egg. It was pretty good and a nice size portion. Not something Id specifically come again to get but if its late and Im hungry Id be happy to drop in for a bite. They have a nice amount of vegetarian/vegan options. Price wise its fair, not cheap or pricey for what it is. Over all if Im in the area and needed a place to eat late night Id go again.

I love this place place but todays service was a little slow. There was only two customers here before I arrived but I waited at the door for several minutes before I could be seat. I had to make the waitress notice my presence while she was filling out a to go order. When I was finished I waited ten minutes before I finally decided to go directly to the cashier to pay for my order so I could leave. The whole time, the place wasnt that busy or crowded. The food was still great. I still plan on coming here again.
Had the Isa Ramen at this place and it was awesome. Service was good and Ill definitely be back when Im back in town.

The best katsu don in town, as well as anything else fried. Great hours as well, a bit of a hike in the wall but adds to the ambiance imo. Ramen is also very good, would recommend the classic isa ramen. Even the curry is superb, highly recommend for any fans of Japanese cuisine

Good for late night perhaps. Love how authentic the staff and owners are but feel like the menu and food doesnt reflect that.Noodles and broth were good on the Isa Ramen, but the meat was chunked up soft but dry. The egg was overcooked and the bowl was served with a huge scoop of pickled ginger in the middle. I had to move the ginger to the side and eat it quickly so as not to overwhelm the flavoring in the soup. I was also not a fan of the spoon which was an oversized serving spoon had to drink from. I feel like if they stuck to their roots and focused on their strengths they could be much better. Overall enjoyable but sadly only satisfactory.

Ive also ordered takeout from here countless times and it has been really fresh. Cute little hole in the wall that is worth a visit.
This place never disappoints. Because it is so small, sometimes the service is a little bit slow, but I always find it well worth the wait. The ramen is of course delicious, I love the Okinawa and Sapporo the best, but I havent had one that wasnt delicious. The combos are well priced, filling and yummy, and theyve got some fun beverage choices too! Plus, theyre open til 4am so its a sure bet Ill be back many more times!

This place is best experienced in person - takeout can be hit or miss. As for in person experience, I cant say enough great things about Isa! Its my favorite Ramen shop. Its small, the counter service is good, and everyone is very friendly. This restaurant is not made for large groups - its more of a solo/intimate date night location. The food i so delicious and the aroma of the cooking is so delicious. I always feel like Im in a Miyazaki film when I eat here - and often time they have one playing on VHS!

Terrible service and not clean. I called to place a pick up order and they told me 20 minutes. I got there at least 25min later and then I had to wait more than 20 minutes for them to have order ready. Then one old the dishes I ordered that has a sauce base which is a big part of the flavor of the dish was without the sauce and was dry and totally tasteless. They charge a good amount of money, which is fine, but I expect the dishes to live up to the price.
The customer service was superb! Food was fast and delicious. The ramen bowls come in generous portions as well. My boyfriend also got a side of yaki soba noodles as well however those were slightly salty. They even offered our dog a bowl of water and piece of chicken!
The server was awful. I asked a couple of questions regarding the vegan broth and I was treated with impatience and condescension. I ordered an egg with my order and it was fully cooked yet COLD! The place reheats their meets and definitely adds MSG to their bowls. I cannot believe I payed over $50 for me and my friends to be given the service I was given. If I have to say one good thing about it is that it was close to a liquor store that had a nice clerk in it.
Very nice employees but immensely understaffed. Took almost two hours for them to make two rolls for my table. Dozens of people around us left before their food was ready. I have only taken the time to review one other place in my life... This place warranted the second. One of the worst experiences Ive ever had at a restaurant, if you could even call it that. Food is good, but they need four or five more people working in their kitchen.

Its open late so its got that going for it. The food is fine but nothing special. The last couple of times I went, service was really slow, like 20 min for a spicy tuna bowl. Prices are okay. The main draw here is that theyre open until 4am.

Not sure what all the raving is about. Its a tiny spot next to a car wash with flies everywhere. I dont know if it as cultural clash but the service was subpar. The salad was not fresh, but the food was descent. Worth trying. Not going back.
This place has great operating hours. The service was subpar, and while the menu looked great the food wasnt particularly good. The chick I had with my bento box appeared to be some handmade ball of meat that contained a bunch of fat and gristle.
I read Kay Freddie’s review, honestly I’ve been ordering on DoorDash for about $70 worth of orders in the past 2 weeks, and Kay Freddie’s review is a lie. Chicken arrived hot, cooked, tasted fresh, and properly marinated, well worth my time.Edit: back after several months, still happy to spend money here: good service, good food, and good value.
The curry and rice plate is phenomenal! Taka is a treasure in the kitchen and the whole staff has a great attitude. Its quiet and homey inside and not super busy during the day but the food is wonderful.

When you want some noodles, but not the headache of some busy trendy spot, hit up Isa. Love the staff, and the soup is perfect. Great late night hours and a very clean restroom. Slightly over priced. I just wished the Ramen had great flavor but all three bases we ordered were very bland. The egg was extremely over cooked and the quality of the noodle was poor. The small portion of pork was sliced very thick and not cut all the way through.
Nice little spot that I would have never found had I not been driving Lyft in the night. Perfect spot because they close so late! (4AM!) Decided to try their Okinawa Ramen and Im glad to say it doesnt suck. Will definitely be back to try the other stuff they have.
The Chicken Yakisoba tasted like pure sauce - nothing but sauce flavor overwhelmed the dish. There was barely any chicken in the noodles as well. Dissapointed.

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would! I ordered my food at 6:45pm. I didnt receive it till 8:45pm. When we finally received our order we were missing our shrimp tempura and all the food was tossed. I called the lady from the restaurant and she told me if I wanted to get a refund that I had to call. Worst customer service! Ill post the pictures.
What a nightmare showed up on a Thursday night it was 5 minutes standing in their dining room before someone even acknowledge me. I got sad outside oh, the server was sweet but something was going on in their kitchen and food was just not coming out in time. Customers were complaining and an hour later I got my chicken ramen which was terrible. Obviously overcooked and boiled chicken that they used to make the broth, dried noodles and a strange tasting broth reminiscent of a rubber tire. Ive eaten here before and the food was subpar, quality of the sushi is questionable but this time it was just abysmal. They did have the courtesy to comp my diet coke I appreciate that but I will not be returning to ISA Ramen ever again.

Had the spicy ramen combo with a spicy tuna bowl, salad, and giuozas. It was a lot of really yummy food for about $20.We got there at about 5pm and it was pretty empty on a Tuesday. By the time we left at 6pm it was packed and people were waiting for our table.I would go back if I am ever in the area.

I got the chicken with sushi combo, I think it’s way too pricey. The teriyaki chicken was not very good, the sushi was decent, and the salad I didn’t even attempt to try. The salad and cucumbers looked old. I was charged extra for spicy mayo, it was all bad. Never getting take out from here again, I looked for the grade and it was nowhere to be seen.
Main dinner food was great. The appetizers/sides were ok. The sides, appetizers, and beverages are very very expensive, while the main dishes are oddly reasonably priced.Service was also good.Just felt like I spent a lot more than I expected on not much food.
Not bad. The letter C rating kinda scares you at first, but once your inside, everything looks okay. More importantly, it was open suuuuuper late at night on a weekday. Anyway, I decided to keep it safe, because of the rating, by avoiding the sushi and ordering ramen. It was absolutely delicious. Dont be scared to give this place a try if youre up late at night.
A good bowl of ramen for the price. This place has an authentic street vibe that is either trendy or hip. Dont forget to ask for the garlic sauce. I heard the spicy tuna rice bowl is excellent. Maybe next time.
Worst takeout I’ve had in my 5 years of living in Los Angeles. Not only was my vegetable fried rice and orange chicken gross, they also attempted to charge me $27 for the order. When I pointed out the error, they did redo the charge with the correct price. Will never patronize this place again 🙅♂️
Such a shame. I really loved this place, too. I never write reviews but felt compelled to do so in this instance because your health might depend on it. I came here with my friend this evening and she ordered a roll of sushi. She asked the waitress if there was avocado in the roll. The waitress proceeded to confer with the cooks who confirmed that yes, there was indeed avocado in the roll. She plainly stated to the waitress that she would like to order it, but that she make SURE to remove the avocado because she is allergic. The waitress asked and repeated this statement twice before proceeding to deliver the order to the cooks. It wasnt until my friend had almost completely eaten her roll that she discovered they had left the avocado in. She didnt see it because she assumed the woman understood what she meant, and also the roll itself was covered in sauce and crunchy nonsense. Needless to say, after asking the waitress if the entire roll had had avocado in it, or just the end pieces, and realizing that she had LITERALLY no idea what we were talking about, I became pretty upset. Thankfully, it appears my friends allergy might not be as bad as we thought, however if this was a more severe allergy, my friend would be facing hospital bills or even possible death. I understand that the staff does not really speak English here, and thats OK. But at the very least, they should learn what the word allergy means, because in some cases it could result in serious repercussions for their patrons and their establishment as well. On top of all that, they handled the situation very poorly- first only telling her she would not have to pay for her entree (duh! The whole meal should be free when you almost poison someone) but then they still wanted her to pay for her soup. The nerve. At the end, I regrettably paid for my chicken katsudon and urged them to be more careful, but for your own sake- make sure if you have an allergy that you make that EXTRA, EXTRA CLEAR (and even then, you might wanna bring your epinephrine just in case). Ill miss the noodles though :(
Took somene there today for lunch! The service was horrible! They gave me day old chicken that was cold & hard. When I asked for fresh meat, they said they have no more,just chicken left over from the day before😧😳😶! In the middle of the day when everything should be fresh! Ill divide this into two halves. The food and the restaurant. First the restaurant. I was taken back by the C grade issued from the health department, but ventured forth anyway. Looks like a very small dive. Flies seemed to be everywhere, and the kitchen looked unsanitary. I imagine the health dept rating was probably accurate and with cause. Bathroom seemed to be outdoors. I obviously didnt order any raw fish and opted for ramen instead. Considering the condition of what I observed, the ramen was actually tasty and pretty decent. The egg was overcooked, but overall it held its own in flavor. I give the food 4 stars and the facility 2 stars, so average would make my rating 3.
Stopped in for a late night food grab on a Sunday evening. Had oysters and bacon wrapped salmon. They were all delicious. Great vibe there and good music.
The crazy spicy ramen is my go-to.The portion was HUGE. Much bigger than Jinya, which is on Wilshire (about a minute away).It was SPICY.Its a good value for the portion.They were fast. I didnt wait long at all.Comes with egg and pork included.Noodles taste fresh.Update: Isa has quickly become my go-to for ramen. Ive tried their chicken curry and their all-day combo special. Both are excellent. I get the crazy spicy ramen every week or so now.2nd update: went here in April 2019 and got food poisoning. I should have thrown it away when I noticed the chicken was extra salty -- probably an attempt to hide that it had gone bad.

I ordered Ramen unfortunately it was a pick up from Postmates, the Ramen ended up only being the broth. I attempted to receive a refund from Postmates which they refused because it was a pick up and said the restaurant would have to refund or replace. Restaurants and they cannot do anything and postmate would have to fix this. Really I just wanted some Ramen in my broth...

At first I enjoyed this place, came a second time and the food was ok and then I came a third time and quality wasn’t as good. My soup was lukewarm, the fried rice wasn’t the best and the chicken wings were questionable.

Great food and service and open late. One negative: noise pollution. They insit on having Japanese cartoon playing loud on the TV, AND music from speakers. I dont care for cartoons, but I wish they stuck to one or the other.

Horrible customer service waited 20 mins just to be told bu a RUDE server that they were closed and couldn’t take our order. Mind you their page says they’re open until midnight and we arrived at 10:30pm.
I ordered a plain Udon with Gyoza, Spicy Chicken and Salad. Everything was good although the Udon felt a bit stale and the Gyoza tasted a tad salty. Other than that everything else was great. Ill give this place a B.

Me&my friend ordered Ramen. The waitress didnt speak English so it was quite a challenge to find out whats in it..The ramen itself was very plain, the broth very watery, not much to it.Very disappointing place, wouldnt recommend.

I love Japanese food and this is one of my favorite spots! Great variety, great taste, great price, AND THEYRE OPEN LATE. What more could you ask for?

SHE COULD NOT HEAR ME SO THE chef CAME OVER I ASKED FOR SILVERWARE HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT I WAS SAYING, FINALLY HE DID, WHEN FOOD CAME AGAIN TRYING TO GET WAITRESSES ATTN. Ive eaten there several times. I like the simplicity and the willingness to answer questions and describe items on the menu.
The sushi was a bit tasting. I took a Salmon Roll to go. They gave me plenty of ginger so I was happy.
The restaurant is small but has a slight home feel to it . Food is good depending on what you get but they can be somewhat stingy with the portions.
Food was reasonably priced and portions where good the sushi is a little to be desired of but the ramen is in point and delicious

2023-08-15 04:54:08Nice small Japanese ramen shop. The ramen was good. My wife loved the broth. The kids loved the curry as well. The only thing I didn’t like was the friend chicken bowl was on the salty side but over all it was a good place and would come back again.

There is limited seating- we were the only ones there on Labor Day and we sat in the “backyard.” Food was good- the Isa ramen was the fave in our family. Good portions but all the ramen has chicken thighs instead of pork. The pricing on the menus differed so we were unsure of the price. The black ramen was $4more than isa for some reason. I got the chicken katsudon which was good but a much smaller portion than the other meals.

2022-05-10 23:56:29Decided to check this place out after a long day and most places were starting to close. Thankfully this place was opened along La Brea around 11 pm! They have street parking and a shared parking lot with a few spots.Its a humble spot with a few tables indoors and outdoors. We got the Isa Ramen and the Spicy Ramen. Between the two, get the Isa Ramen! Much more flavor. The Spicy Ramen needed a bit more saltiness and savory depth which the Isa Ramen had. Both bowls came with a boiled egg and pork with some garnishments of bean sprouts and green onions. You can also add minced garlic for free!Overall, pretty affordable and I would grab a quick Isa Ramen if I had another late night and wanted some noods!

I went the second time after remembering the great experience and it did not disappoint 🙌 We got Isa Ramen and Large Curry with Chicken (or something like that). Their curry is a must-try! (Oh and mind that the plates are big!) Thank you so much Isa, will come again!

2023-07-26 04:23:32This is a fantastic example of “never judge a book by its cover” as this seemingly run-down unit in the parking lot of a car wash looks like it should be a place you avoid at all costs, but you’ll be making a huge mistake if you did that. The ramen here is exceptional - I would say the best I’ve had in LA and it gets up there with some of the best ramen I’ve had in Japan too! This is a simple restaurant but with a pretty extensive menu, where everything is packed full of flavor. The prices are incredibly good value too, and the service is quick and friendly. This is the epitome of a hidden gem and I couldn’t recommend it any higher!
