2023-07-13 20:21:24This is the best Jamaican food in San Jose and it’s not even close. If you want island vibes and flavors then this is your spot. It’s located right across from city hall. You can get here by walking, train or bus. In the past I have had the jerk tacos which are very fresh and flavorful. Today I ate Rasta pasta, oxtail and cabbage with lemonade.Lemonade was very sweet and reminded me of home. The pasta was cooked perfectly with a creamy sauce along with red and green peppers. It could stand alone as a meal. The plantain was a little tough but the flavors still came out.The oxtail deserves its own paragraph. OMG… 🤤 I feel like taking a good nap afterwards. It’s seasoning, texture and taste made me feel like I was Stella getting my groove back.Food comes with high quality to-go containers so you can share the joy with your family when you get home. 😊Parking 1/5Customer Service 5/5Return value 5/5Price 4/5Quality 5/5

2023-04-05 07:18:45We stopped by on our day trip to San Jose from Monterey. Thank you to the owner who was quite courteous to us and made the experience more than we could’ve asked. Great conversation. Very welcoming. The food was delicious! Very tender and flavorful meats. I love curry goat so I had to try it first! My brother got the brown stewed chicken. Everything was on point. The beef patties were also scrumptious. We got multiple flavors and I froze the leftover patties so I can enjoy them later. Thank you Island taste for serving us good eats! We will be visiting again.

2023-08-16 03:48:02Tried this new place tonight, really liked it! I had the oxtail entree, and it was the best I’ve ever had! The meat was tender and tasty, and the dark gravy was awesome! Mixed with the rice and plantains, it was very flavorful! My wife had the coconut curry garbanzo bean entree, and really enjoyed it! The curry was very flavorful but not spicy. She loved the plantains too! Big portions, enough for almost two meals. Mark was very nice, helpful, and generous. I ended up getting more rice and oxtail gravy to go! We will be back with more friends!

2023-06-09 19:28:23This new place downtown is simply amazing. Do not listen to the negative reviews here, they are from people with poor taste or unreasonable gripes about tiny things.not only is the food here very authentic, the owner/staff are extremely gracious and happy to help with recommendations and information. I tried multiple menu items and they were all delicious and filling.come hungry and order multiple things, and try the scotch bonnet hot sauces available on the counter.

2023-02-05 03:18:45Great atmosphere and amazing service. The food is spectacular if you are looking for some incredible Haitian and Jamaican food. This is a place worth going. The owners are really kind and good people. The Haitian goat is mouth watering and you have to try the pepper sauces.

2022-04-30 23:44:34We were in the neighborhood and smelled something delicious! We were in an adventurous mood so we just had to try it.We ordered the Jamrock, Bolt and Bang Bang . I actually wanted the Sunday Dinner but we were told itll be another 45 mins.Wow, the oxtail (Jamrock) was falling off the bone. The Bolt (jerk chicken) was tender and juicy. Bang Bang (fried pork) was on the dry side but it was still delicious. Plus the white rice was the best Ive ever tasted! Lets not forget the plantains! So delicious!Next time were in the neighborhood, well definitely try the other items on the menu.

2023-07-29 22:51:07Mark’s Island Taste is legit! The most authentic taste of Jamaica and Haiti to be found in the Bay, hands down. I’ve lived here my whole life, and the long-standing competitors around here don’t hold a candle to Mark’s curry goat, oxtails, or brown stew. My Jamaican wife gives them the seal of approval too. The rice and peas are just right on texture, the plantains are not too sweet like other places, the sorrel has the perfect amount of ginger, the scotch bonnets are present, but never overpowering. (Add some pepper sauce if you want to kick it up a notch). This was well worth the train ride from mid-peninsula. We will be back! I hear his ackee and salt fish brunch is slamming, when he runs it…

2023-09-16 21:32:37The Oxtails meal is fire!!! We also ordered a beef patty that was flaky and rich in goodness. The stewed fish with rice and peas and steamed veggies was a journey back to the islands good. So yummy and can’t wait to bring our family and friends to enjoy the good food, clean space and good vibes music and atmosphere.

Although I just wanted to get a glimpse of what the restaurant had to offer, I walk out with a memorable taste in my mouth....the food was fresh and well seasoned and I cant wait to go back....If you are looking for quality authentic Jamaican cuisine. I highly recommend checking this place out.....
