For me it’s the BBQ wings… it’s delicious but need more sauce, it’s too thin to coat the whole wingsFish taco was good enough with big and thick chunk of fish but I found it needs something unique in the mix to stand out.Original burger was cooked as requested, fresh veggies, but a hit of something to the sauce would enhance and lift the whole experience. Maybe I should try different burger for that.Service was excellent!!

Six of us coworkers came here for lunch. 5 of us are from different states. We all ordered different things and everything was great! I ordered the Yaki which is grilled teriyaki chicken tacos with pineapples. It was amazing! Better than I had even expected! The raspberry tea was also great! We had Taylor as our waitress and she was super helpful and friendly! She definitely had a personality and was outgoing and we loved it! Great place to come with your family or to just come to the bar!

Foods really good, nicely decorated, very kid friendly. Only complaint is on the cleanliness. Plates werent very clean, greasy and had some food crumbs still on it, and utensils felt greasy aswell, one of the forks we got had some sort of seaweed coloured foodlike substance on it.

We ordered and enjoyed the island nachos, truffle fries, and fish tacos (both grilled and fried). All very delicious! Wait staff was very attentive and the happy hour menu was fantastic with some good drinks! Definitely a fun family restaurant or a nice place to grab a drink and munch on some island themed appetizers!

Great 👍 islands Restaurant. Mainly, it’s a mixture between American and Mexican foods. It’s on I5 in Carlsbad near the outlets. I usually make it a stop on my way back from San Diego. They have great burgers 🍔, salads 🥗, bar food 🍱, and fries 🍟. Thanks 🙏 to Sydney for great recommendations.

Loved the food, had some tasty burgers and appetizers. Everything was tasty and well cooked. Service was extremely slow, had to wait more than 10 mins for the waiter to arrive at our table. Cherry coke wasn’t good.

Went for lunch to go. They brought it out to our car. Relatively fast service; big sandwich, large order of fries. Downside: fries are way over seasoned with spicy salt😖😖. We had to dump them on a large towel and shake off all that salt. Also: no napkins or silverware 😞😞We had to go back inside to get napkins and silverware

I sat in the bar area at a high top table. The service was excellent. We split the Hula Burger and subbed regular fries for sweet potato fries. Probably the best sweet potato fries ever. Great selection of local beers. The beers are always served in an iced cold mug even with a layer of ice!!

Hayden Peña had excellent customer service and delivered food swiftly. I would go back just for that reason. He was also very respectful and professional. You dont see good manners and hardwork from many people these days but Hayden went the extra mile to accommodate myself and my family.

They have a blue cheese burger that is stuffed with blue cheese that will make your mouth WATER! It’s so fabulous! My boyfriend said it was probably hands down the best burger he’s ever had! That’s mad PROPS to whoever was working the grill that night! Thanks ISLANDS!

UPDATE: I contacted the company as per their request in the reply to my review... Still no response, have they given up? Their food sure tastes like they gave up.The Hawaiian burger was more like a teriyaki soup with a sandwich dropped in the middle. It has been 21-22 years since eating at an Islands, I am definitely *not* inspired to return ever again.

Typical islands experience but we where seated right next to a big family in the corner with no spots to view the television. A lot of the booths where broken or taken apart which sucks. The food was good and service was fast. Prices have skyrocketed though the spinach artichoke APPETIZER is almost $15. It’s a appetizer that’s the same amount of money I make in a hour that’s ridiculous. Used to come here with my family all the time but prices are rediculous. The food is pretty good like always

Excellent food & service today at Islands Restaurant, Carlsbad! My wife likes Islands Tropical Iced Tea, & I like the regular iced tea, so we began with those. Our server, Kelly brought a small dish of extra orange slices for my better half. She brought enough to keep my partner supplied, through several refills of teaWe ordered a basket of fries, to start with. Islands Fries are cooked perfectly, golden brown, nice & crisp. Wed forgotten to ask for Ranch dressing, so when these beauties were delivered to our table, our server asked if wed like some Ranch with them. I nodded, & Kelly rushed back 4 containers of their yummy white dressing, to our table.We ordered a Bleunami Burger, Lettuce-Wrapped, with Grilled Onions instead of the Red Onions that come with it. Our burger was cooked perfectly Medium-Well, just as wed ordered it. The grilled onions were a great addition, & this burger also comes with a nice spread of chunky Bleu Cheese on it. On the plate as well, was a small container of Bleu Cheese dressing, so we could add as much as we liked, to make sure this Bleunami Burger was riding a Tidal Wave of flavor, right into our mouths.Kelly provided us with awesome service the whole time we were here, getting refills for our teas, at least 3 times, each.I got a Caesar Salad with the Bleunami Burger, as wed filled up on fries, earlier. Islands Caesar Salad Dressing is one of the better Caesar dressings Ive tried.Great burger, fries & drinks, plus superior service at Islands Carlsbad on 8/16/22. Five ⭐s.

This is an old faithful restaurant. Its hardly fine dining but the food is reliably good, so long as youre expecting a snack bar with very casual dining kind of spot with enough televisions to ignite your attention deficit disorder. The staff is well trained and helpful, well above the curve. There are lighter options if you dont want to eat heavy, and its hard to find better hot wings. The Carlsbad location was fairly enjoyable for offering a lower decibel level than others in this chain, its a preferred restaurant for me.

Ok, so if you like american food, burgers, chicken, and salads, and you like a Hawaiian theme, then this place is great. The food is very good, it is priced typical of the restaurant genre, and the staff is friendly and attentive. This particular Islands restaurant is small and the booths are close together, it is somewhat loud and has a touch of a diner feel. There are large TVs hung all around with extreme sport clips running on a loop and the bar is in the middle and its screens are showing sports (baseball, football, soccer, depends on the season) This is not a cozy, romantic place, more of a energized college feel, grab a bite after a day on the coast, meet friends and catch up over a beer or cocktail. A comfortable place to grab some comfort food with friends with a South Pacific theme.

This was my first time, and in the time of Covid19 you are never sure what to expect. What I got was fast, attentive service and one of the few places doing very well with distancing guidelines.First, I teach science and math band my science focus is on pathogens and parasites. Seeing so many people not following the rules appropriately has been, well, grating on my nerves. The restaurant had a great distancing setup, and staff had properly fitted masks worn correctly. A great thing to see.Second, we modified one of the sandwiches, The Hawaiian, to have an impossible patty and avocado. The sandwich came out fast and was delicious. It was a great surprise to get our food so quickly, have it made correctly, and have a great server as well. The entire staff was pleasant and attentive to distancing.

Ooof. Had not eaten at Islands in years. Came in at about 115 on a Sunday with the fam. Service was non-existent from the get-go. We waited quite a while just for someone to acknowledge us and get seated. I dont blame anyone in particular, it seemed like they were short staffed.Im not sure how bad supply chain is but Im concerned this restaurant may not have any salt to cook with. Bland and Flavorless were the tastes across the food. Even the kids Mac and Cheese was lacking compared to a box of Kraft. A medium burger was cooked rare and the food took longer than expected. Even a beer took 15 minutes to get.No waters offered, no refills. I only saw our waitress when I flagged her down to get the check. She looked overwhelmed.The chair I sat in must have been underneath a water drainage earlier in the day. After sitting for a couple of minutes, all the water puddled up and soaked my back and pants.$92 with a tip. I wish we went to McDonalds instead.

Service was fine, though they never brought the side we ordered (also didnt charge us for it, so thats fine) or the drink refill we asked for. Words cannot describe the incredible service and kindness we just had. It was an hour before closing, they had a party of 45 show up and it was a 25-30 min wait. We explained we had a 4 yr olds birthday to celebrate, and only wanted a desert. They not only accommodated us right away, but they went above and beyond making her experience and birthday so enjoyable. We were so grateful and had the perfect end to our day! Editing my review. Last night my wife and I stopped by for a second time to give Islands another shot. I really do love their food; some of the best burgers I’ve ever had. They are quite busy each time we’ve gone, and this time they were not too busy to give personal attention to us. The young woman on staff is probably one of the best waitresses we’ve had while eating out. She gave me and my wife everything we asked for, checked on us regularly, and we were out the door quickly like I prefer.I think I jumped the gun too quickly with my first review because really, since it’s the best burgers in town of course there’s gonna be times they’re overwhelmed and might miss the attentiveness sometimes. I also observed how staff treated other guests last night and they appeared to not only help in a timely professional manner but they also seemed to really love their job. I’ll be going back!

We ate here while vacationing from out of state. Our waitress, Amber was very friendly, professional and efficient on a busy evening. She also gave great recommendations since this was our 1st visit. The manager (Paige) greeted us and apologized for any delays we experienced (which was very minor). Nonetheless, she comped our appetizer. The place is clean, cool vibe and delicious food! This price is right across the board. Well visit again next time were in town.

Mixed feelings here. First, Ive been going to this location, for a couple of years now, but suddenly, having a group of 6 people doesnt meet their requirements to be allowed to have access to the larger corner booths they claim are reserved for groups of 7. WHAT???? Every time we were there, the restaurant was EMPTY so whats the problem to allow us to eat in comfort in these corner areas???? Customer Service/Satisfaction????Second, some waiters and waitresses are very attentive and efficient but others are very slow and not so attentive. Third, condiments like ketchup bottles provided are obviously EMPTY when brought to the table having me to get someone to replace these with full ones while my food is getting cold. Response time here is also slow. Fourth, attentiveness of staff to refill drinks and waters,again, slow. Food and atmosphere are pretty consistent and good. Prices ate competitive.Just be aware and you decide to dine here not.

Islands in Carlsbad is the place to go for great food, fun atmosphere and reasonable prices. It is also very clean, with fast and friendly service and I have always found parking.I usually sit in the bar area that has big screen TVs to watch sports. The person that took my order provided excellent service both over the phone and in person.My only issue is with the two hostesses inside the restaurant both of whom completely ignored me when I entered the restaurant even though they were not assisting anyone after sitting in the previous family.The restaurant was not overly busy at the time.

Ive been coming to this Islands for years and they never disappoint. The staff is always attentive and your glass will never need a refill because they are always on point! The food is great, I recommend the tortilla soup and the Pipeline burger. There is outdoor seating available right now. Overall a great place to stop by and grab a bite!

For the amount we paid for a meal, not worth the price. We are staying three minutes down the road from this place, so we figured we might as well try something different and new to us. Like most restaurants I am sure they felt the pressure of the pandemic and were challenged by the many restrictions during the past months. However, the pandemic is no longer and they are operating as usual. Well, that is not completely accurate!They don’t have two things that are going to push patrons away. First, they raised their prices. More, importantly one of the things that made Islands a great place to visit was the unlimited hot basket of French fries. They were good, they were bottomless, and they were included with each hamburger and sandwich. Well, no more hot basket of French fries included in the purchase of a hamburger or sandwich. Now, you have to pay for them as a side dish to a hamburger and there are no refills. When you add the price of as drink, the French fires and sales tax to the hamburger, you can spend more than $20 for a meal that is probably worth $10.When I asked the restaurant manager what was going on, she pointed the finger at the corporate executives of Islands. She said she was getting lots of complaints with lots of people saying they do not intend to come back.I contacted the regional manager of the Tustin Islands location at their corporate office in Carlsbad. I was told that person would call me back. Apparently, they really don’t care about a customer that is upset. I never received a call.So don’t be surprised the next time you want to visit one of the favorite burger spots in Orange County. The prices will be up, there are no fries included, and the restaurant managers will do nothing about it.Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks opened in May 1982 as a casual dining restaurant chain that specialized in burgers, fresh cut fries, and specialty drinks. I have been a customer for 39 years after having first visiting the first Islands in West Los Angeles. Islands justifies their actions by suggestion that they are on a move to offer “cleaner and healthier foods”. Well, I think that action is going to backfire on them and have financial consequences of their success as customers seek out other restaurant alternatives.I don’t recommend Islands after almost 40 years. It took a while to get our food. We ordered some drinks but the waiter never asked if we wanted more. I feel I should not have to hunt down waiters. But in thier defense, it might have been short staffed since we were eating thier around 2pm and they werent expecting alot of people.

Ive been here many times and havent had a complaint once. The food is great and priced very well. The staff is very friendly and quick to serve you. This place is great for families and friends to have a good time at a good cost.

First off let me say that their food is delicious; good burgers, great fries, decent price, friendly staff. Its my daughters favorite place. We come probably 15-20 times a year.But no matter how many times we go here, they screw up my burger. I dont do buns, instead opting for the lettuce wrap. Once I do that, the cooks lose their minds. They immediately decide for me that I didnt want mayo, mustard, aioli, etc. Whatever the spread is that they would smear on a bun, they just leave out. Its not just this location either. The new one by the mall in Carlsbad does the same thing, as does their Encinitas location. Its become a running joke between my wife and I as she also opts for the wrap. Once I told the waitress about the joke. She ensured all would be well. Surprise surprise, they screwed it up and she was aghast. Another time, I guess I was just grumpy and mentioned it to the manager, who apologized profusely and gave me a discount. Didnt matter, nothing has changed.We wont stop coming here. I will just continue to be amazed at the incompetence of their cooks and tell the waitress. If you eat buns, youll have a fine meal.

Food OK. Cheese on burgers not melted. Just lying on top. I sense they are trying hard. Theyre just not getting it right much of the time. Wait staff was overly perky. We hoped for more care in food preparation; food was what you would expect if cooked by robots, not chefs.

The burger was pretty good. Minus one star for the appetizer coming out after the burgers and minus one more for the napkins coming out after the appetizer. I asked for ranch and ketchup and only got ketchup. Besides that it was pretty good.

Service was good. Food was good. Temperature checks were done. Everyone was wearing masks. No longer get bottomless fries. Drinks (tea, sodas ect. Very expensive.

Had lunch there while we waited for our car being washed next door. They have great outdoor seating (Covid-19) and their hula turkey burgers are the best! Also Alesmith nutbrown on tap.

This place really amazing gone there with my friends and they serve really good and delicious food and they have good options in the menu and they have good options in the drinks. I have tried chicken burger and its really nice. 5 stars!!
