Iza Ramen in Lower Haight is a must-visit for ramen lovers. I indulged in their signature dish, the Iza Tsukemen, and tried the delightful Takoyaki Octopus Balls. Walked here at 630 on a Saturday and was able to be seated here immediately. It never felt that busy throughout my time there which is odd cause this place is great! Definitely could be a good date spot or just a friendly hangout place too.The dipping ramen broth is very thick and flavorful yet the dry noodles themselves were not boring at all. We got some shishito peppers which were prepared nicely and in large quantity too.Overall this place definitely is solid and Id recommend it!

We tried the crispy bite trio, the spicy iza ramen, & the spicy iza tsukemen. the crispy bite trio was great - everything was flavorful and the size of the fried chicken pieces were larger than i expected them to be. the iza ramen was okay - there wasnt much broth or spice, and the egg was more solid then runny. the tsukemen ramen was also just okay. the noodles were an excellent texture but the broth was very salty and also not particularly spicy. the best part of the ramen dishes was the side of buttered corn, which was delicately sweet but not overbearing. i would have preferred more corn in each serving, though.as for the service, it was very quick & attentive, which i appreciated!

Have dual feelings for this place. I was super excited to go there after saving from one of the TOP ramen places list. From good side the interior and atmosphere were great. Dimmed light, stylish furniture, modern minimalism. From other side - just 3 types of ramen which is a bit strange for the place with word “ramen” in name. Second strange thing was waiting time. We ordered just 2 ramens but waited for them longer than two other tables (people who came after us). My husband really liked vegetarian ramen, from my side their house Iza ramen is lacking liquid. The broth is very flavorful but the proportions between it and noodles are not optimal. Noodles were too hard for my taste.So in a nutshell this place is not bad but there are definitely some better ramen places in SF

Iza is a great ramen joint in Lower Haight. We used to walk there when we lived near the Panhandle and it was always consistently good.The menu has what you’d expect from an izakaya. The appetizers include a fantastic Karaage Chicken, Gyoza and Shishito Peppers. The Donburi rice bowl is also a good option if you’re not in the mood for noodles. The Spicy Iza Tonkotsu ramen is my favorite bowl here but the Miso variation is also filling and good. The Tsukemen is the traditional tepid noodles with a flavorful broth for dipping. Very good.The service is good. Food comes out quickly while not being rushed. It does get crowded so be prepared for that. Parking down in LH is always a crapshoot so good luck finding a spot.

Definitely mediocre in comparison to other SF Ramen must-gos. Definitely not terrible but was way too pricey for what we got. The karaage was okay, the ramen was okay, the service was okay. Maybe Im spoiled by the likes of Ushi Taro, Marufuku, ramenwell, mensho etc. but this entire experience was just okay.

Noodles were too hard to bite I already requested for soften noodles. The egg york was messed up. They were mad and stared me with silence when the tips they believed is not a lot after I said thanks to them they were still very rude. The actual price are much higher then the menu picture shows online. They cannot do any little customized to any food, vey hard to communicate.

Holy cow the chashu at this place is to die for. I cant believe its taken me this long to try it but Im glad I did! Everything about the ramen was just *chefs kiss* delicious and really really tasty. My only complaint was the karaage (a bit dry and chicken was a little tough) but thats forgivable bec oh wow what a wonderfully surprising meal. Will make sure to go back for the tsukemen!

Got the spicy Iza ramen and my partner got the not spicy. Both were flavorful and quite tasty. Partner wished he got the hot because he it was a quite nice spice flavoring without distracting from the flavor. The Takoyaki were good, had more of a sweet sauce taste than I am used to. Was still very good! We both appreciated the amount of veggies and seaweed in the ramen. Added a nice umami flavor and texture contrast.

We are from out of town & decided to have some ramen! We stopped here based on the reviews and honestly this place was so delicious!!! We ordered the Takayokai (spell check) as appetizers and then we ordered 3 ramen and an order of fried chicken. Great place for their tsukemen, its thick, rich, and savoury. A little bit of mellowed garlic bits I tasted seems a bonus. Noodles are chewy too, important for me, but it is also the first time I am served with hot noodles, not a deal breaker. It satisfies me on looking for tsukemen, but I have to admit my tongue prefers somewhere else, but Ill come back for their ramen first!

The ramen at this place was fantastic. The broth was very different from most ramens I’ve had prior to this point. They don’t call it anything else other than “Iza Ramen.” My best guess is that it’s some house combo of tonkotsu style ramen. Regardless, it’s different than most I’ve tried in the past. The takoyaki and karage were also very good dishes.

The service here is quick, and I’ll have to admit the ramen tastes great, but I felt a bit rushed by the waitress; I couldn’t really take the time to enjoy the food. A few things I want to touch on, the broth had a deep flavor, but the thing ramen noodles don’t work too well with it. The dumplings taste great, but the sauce doesn’t pair with it that well. If the sauce doesn’t stick or get absorbed by the dumplings what’s the point.

Amazing ramen! I’ve always gotten the iza ramen, but decided to try something new this time and ordered the paitan tonkotsu ramen. Both are so yummy, I don’t think I can choose a favorite. My favorite part is the chashu pork, so I would definitely recommend adding it to any of the ramen options.They use the Yelp waitlist so be aure to check the wait ahead of time and add yourself to the list to avoid waiting too long!

We ran late to grab dinner and we googled a ramen place and found Iza. We arrived there at 9:40 PM and they close at 10:00 per previous experience we don’t have a good service at other places but here was different they greeted us, got us seats and we felt welcomed. The food was AMAZING! It was my second most favorite ramen ever! The only reason it’s not the best because of the price but other than that it was great. We highly recommend!

Well there is no personal welcome, you sign up on an iPad outside the reasturant. I went in to ask for menu and the man immediately told me, we will text you when your table is ready. ...thanks...thats not what I wanted. Food wise, some orders were better than others. We got the fried chicken and takoyaki appetizers. The takoyaki was average, they werent as good as some other places Ive been too. The fried chicken was good, nice chunky pieces.As far as ramen I got the tsukemen, tonkatsu, and iza ramen spicy. I would not recommend the tonkatsu one it was very salty. My friend was drinking a lot of water. My mom liked her spicy iza ramen, although I would say it was a very mild/light spice.The portions of ramen are very small for the price in my opinion. I left the place still hungry.

My friend was craving dipping ramen for a long time, so she found this place. I never had it before, so I went with an open mind. We were seated immediately. The place isnt the biggest, but there was a good amount of tables. Service was really attentive. We ordered the chicken karage and two Iza Tsukemen Ramen.The chicken came out shortly after. It was hot, but a pretty small portion. Its meant to be shared between two people. The ramen came and it was pretty good. The broth came with a piece of pork and an egg. We were both impressed that an egg came with it, and didnt cost extra. The ramen noodles looked like a small portion, but ended up being just perfect. It definitely hit the spot for a chilly afternoon.I would definitely go again, especially to try their other ramen options. The dipping ramen is a pretty rare option and this place seems to do it right. It seems like it could get pretty crowded here, so get here early.

Popped in at 530pm on Sunday just when they open and snagged a two top immediately but by the time we left an hour later, the place was packed and there was quite the wait list. Service is great, always ready to bring another drink. Ramen was perfect - I didn’t leave a single drop of broth in the bowl. Karaage is chicken strips and delicious. Otherwise, super consistent, rich flavor, with some of the best chashu I have ever had ever, period. Their agedashi tofu is wonderful and we really like their okonomiyaki fries.

Best ramen Ive had in my life. Great service as well with a little surprise farewell thats awesome. I had the Iza combo por 20 bucks. They give you a little entrée of fried chicken and other stuff that I cant remember the name, really flavorful, really hot. Great to open your appetite. Then the ramen is the right size, punchy flavor everything was great including something as innocuous as the egg, is just special. I highly recommend it. Theres a waiting list most of the time but the wait is really more than worth it.

One of my favorite spots for ramen in the city. The tsukemen dish is outstanding, with great noodles and flavorful broth. I always take one of the starters too (karaage and pot stickers are both great). This is by far some of the ramen I have ever had. It is very popular (but very easy to get a table if flying solo). When you get there, make sure you head straight to the door and put your name down on the clipboard. That is how you join the queue. Extra egg, extra pork is a must!

I gotta tell you this is the best damn veggie ramen Ive had so far, and I eat at a loT of Ramen places. Ive never seen any place put tofu wrapped in fried rice paper🍜 and the broth is also amazing with how creamy and flavorful they made it. I wouldnt hesitate to give this dish 5 stars, but I have to keep it honest: there was a hair in my plate. I definitely want to come again and give them another chance, because I dont think their service is always like this and i understand theres mishaps from time to time. Highly recommend. Accidentally stumbled upon this amazing place. I don’t know what was up with the staff tonight but if you’re Asian you know the ramen here is only fine. I tired to order to go and the staff there was rude and abrasive. I asked very politely to order to go and made no fuss about waiting. Both staff persons rolled their eyes at me and proceeded to walk away without giving me a menu or helping at all. Eventually I left because they walked passed me many times when I tried to catch their attention to order. Everyone else in there was white, maybe if I had been I would have been helped. It was incredible disheartening, I will never return.

I’m not a ramen expert but I’ve had quite a few. This was by far the less tasty one I’ve had, my brother and partner thought the same of theirs. The appetizers were ok - nothing super great either. The choice of some ingredients for the ramen seemed low quality e.g the corn seemed out of a can - I had never seen that in ramen before and everything spicy was just sriracha. I was disappointed because it seems like a popular place, I guess it must just be the hip Hayes Valley location it’s in. Oh well, I hope this is helpful to some.

Definitely had better ramen elsewhere (Hawaii and Quebec City, to name a couple), but not bad - just not great. It was a bit too thick, salty and hearty (had to thin it a bit with hot water), for my Korean wifes salt-aversion taste. Its very filling and hearty, so even I couldnt finish the bowl. Tiny bit pricey, but filling, so you decide if thats worth it to you. Great atmosphere, good service.

Been to some cool ramen spots, but this one I gotta do a quick review for. Hands down best broth. I ordered the spicy Iza Ramen bowl and it was great for the cold weather. I was ultimately satisfied, and the restaurants lighting was perfect for the weather. Noodles texture were soft but maintained a quality bite. The egg along with the tonkatsu were perfect. 10/10. This place is great! They have ramen and they do it well.There are several different styles ( digging, hot, cold, etc.)I really like the lack of a million menu items. They have a small set of tasty options and they focus on making those great. Dont expect a desert menu because they dont have one! (Just get ice cream from across the street)Seating area is not enormous but I have never waited greater than 15 minutes with a party of 2 (YMMV).

I live in the mid-west so there are very few ramen joints. The ones we have are a hard pass. While I was visiting San Francisco I decided to check this place out before I had to fly back home. I showed up right when they were opening their doors so I was seated immediately. I am glad I showed up when I did as the place filled up quickly.The food was fantastic and I definitely ate way more than I should. Outside of making ramen at home and eating at some places in Anchorage 20 years ago when I lived there, this was the best ramen that I have ever tasted.The other stand out was the karaage. There is an awesome shop across the street called The Upper Playground and the owner said that I have to get this when I go. So, not wanting to be rude I ordered it and have had dreams of it ever since. So be sure to give it a shot if you go.This was one of those places that made me jealous because I live in the land of unseasoned foods and simple pleasures. It was a real treat going here and I hope to get the chance to revisit one day.

Also love their soft egg, its cooked just right. Theres usually a good wait which makes it pretty cruel since the ramen scent is so obvious when you stand outside. This is my favorite ramen shop in SF and one of the reason why is because they offer dipping ramen. On a Saturday when it was freezing outside, you comforted all my belly worries. In all seriousness, this place kicks butt. I didnt think the noodles would stand up so well throughout meal, but they kept their consistent texture throughout. Also, get the takoyaki if you need a little extra food. Their toppings on it really make the dish.Im sure we got lucky to get seated after a few minutes and that isnt the norm here. Ive been a big fan ever since we stumbled into Blowfish Sushi one day craving Japanese and were convinced by the waitstaff to give the ramen pop up a try. Since then, its been tough to have ramen again, but now I can have it all the time at their permanent location. Ramen was good, very smoky and complex. The restaurant was very dark. I enjoyed the food but I wish it was a little brighter inside. The ramen was more expensive than other comparable restaurants.

Wouldnt allow substitutions and in order to veganism the ramen you have to omit the noodles and are given a bowl of rice instead. As such, I was disappointed and only continued to sit for the meal because others in my party were already ordering.
