The food is excellent. Familiar sushi options along with Japanese food you might not see often like grilled skewers and corn tempura.The atmosphere is basic, cozy, and comforting.The only reason I give it a 4/5 is because the service is not dialed in the way one might expect from a place like this where the bill is easily over $100 for two. We had to flag someone down to place drink orders, food orders. Water was not offered until asked twice. Little things that make the experience not perfect.

What a cozy gem! Food, service, & ambiance all 5 stars. Reasonable prices and great quality. We were lucky to get a seat at the bar. Its tiny, so be patient for a seat without a reservation. Better yet, make one.

Wow! All the dishes we ordered were spot on and their fish broth ramen is a must (daily special and so if its offered, definitely order it). We started with the Goma Kampachi where the amberjack is perfectly paired with sesame sauce, scallions, and wasabi. The Negima was perfectly cooked (super moist chicken thigh), but slightly under seasoned. The Beef Tataki was solid. But as mentioned before, the fish broth ramen was the star of the meal. The broth had amazing depth of umami with subtle flavors throughout your palette. The ramen noodles and clams were perfectly cooked.They offer outdoor seating only at this time and reservations are highly recommended for the weekend.

Hidden gem in Ojai. Soulful food that reminds me of neighborhood joints in Japan. Everything was cooked to perfection. Super friendly service.

Gorgeous, thoughtful food in such a warm, inviting little spot. We enjoyed every single bite: miso soup, yaki onigiri, agedashi tofu, chicken karaage, grilled eggplant, green salad, pickles, and chicken negima. Everything was perfect, especially the agedashi tofu. Lovely staff, thank you for an excellent meal!
